The laundry corner smells of cedar and the television wall smells of nothing, or the reverse, and the tank is emptying exactly on schedule. A gradient like that is not a weak machine and not a strong one. It is the air doing something on your floor that nobody drew on the plan.
Quick answers — read this first
Why is fragrance strong in one appliance zone but weak in another? Because the air on the floor is carrying the fragrance unevenly, and there is always a cause you can walk to: the AC supply pushing the register towards one zone, a return grille pulling it out of another, a busy door exchanging the threshold air, a partition blocking it at counter height, or a demo appliance running on the floor - a display air-conditioner, a chimney, an air purifier, an open built-in fridge - moving or stripping the air in its own corner.
How do I find which one it is? Walk the floor at five in the afternoon with the plant on and every demo appliance running as it would on a trading day, with a strip of tissue and someone from the team. Note where the register is strong and where it is absent, then look at what is moving the air in each place: a grille, a door, a panel, a running unit. The strong zone tells you where the source is; the weak zone tells you what is taking the fragrance away.
What is the fix, and what does it cost? Almost always a position, not a setting: move the single SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 higher, further from the return, further from the door, out of the path of the demo appliances, onto the wall the supply crosses. Never turn it up, which strengthens the strong zone and leaves the weak one weak. Fragrance is an interiors decision like lighting or music - SOSA makes no claim that it changes dwell time, footfall or sales, and no claim about what it does to any appliance.
The short answer
Short answer: a floor that is strong in one zone and weak in another has a gradient, and a gradient always has a cause on the floor: the supply, a return, a door, a partition, or a running demo appliance. Walk it with the plant and the demos on, find the cause, and move the source. Turning up makes the strong zone stronger and changes nothing else.
The pick: one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) - the one you probably already own - re-mounted where the walk-through says, for a connected floor of roughly 1,500-3,000 sq ft; one SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) past about 3,000 sq ft on one plant. Not a second machine for the weak zone.
Next step: send a plan with the strong and weak zones shaded, the grilles, the door and every running demo appliance marked - ask for a showroom scenting plan and we will read the gradient with you.
Why is the fragrance strong in one zone of my showroom and weak in another?
Because something on the floor is moving the air in a way the plan did not account for, and the fragrance is going with it. That is the whole diagnosis, and it is useful precisely because it rules out the two things owners reach for first: the machine is not faulty, and the setting is not wrong. A gradient - strong here, weak there, tank emptying on schedule - is a distribution fact, and distribution facts have causes you can walk to. There are five, and they are checked in order. The supply. The AC pushes conditioned air into the room through supply grilles and the fragrance rides that stream; the zone the supply blows towards is strong and the zone it blows away from is weak. If the source is on the wrong wall the supply is carrying the register into a corner rather than across the displays. The return. Return grilles pull air out of the room and take the fragrance with it, so the zone around a return is thin however close the machine is, and a machine near a return is feeding the drain. Where the machine goes on a central-AC floor gives the tissue test that tells supply from return in ten minutes. The door. A busy street or mall door exchanges the threshold air many times an hour; the first few metres inside it will be weak whatever you do, and constantly opening glass doors explains why the answer is to accept it. The partitions. Display kitchens and partition walls block fragrance at the height they stand, so a source at counter height makes the nearest box strong and everything past the first panel weak; do partition walls change fragrance distribution is the fix, which is height. And the cause that belongs to this vertical alone: running demo appliances. An appliance floor is the only kind of showroom where the merchandise itself moves the air. A display air-conditioner on demo blows a stream across its zone and pulls at the air behind it; a running chimney or range hood pulls the air in front of it up and out; an air purifier on a plinth draws the air of its corner through a filter and hands it back stripped; an open built-in fridge spills cold air along the floor. Each one makes a weak zone of its own, and each one is correct to. The AC experience centre and the chimney and hob showroom take these one at a time; the rule across all of them is the same - place the source where the demo units are not blowing or pulling, and accept that the zone in front of a running unit smells of nothing, because that is the demonstration working. Now the thing not to do. Turning the machine up in response to a gradient strengthens the strong zone, feeds the return more, gives the door more to lose, and changes nothing about the weak zone, because the cause is still there. The advisor in the strong zone, who breathes it nine hours a day, is the first to notice. Move the source, do not turn it up. Higher, onto the supply wall, away from the return, inward from the door, above the partitions, out of the demo units' path; then set the level from the zone that was weak, with the team at five in the afternoon, and lock it with the key-lock on the SOSA Vaayu. It is almost never a second machine - one connected volume of air takes one, and a second source in the same air makes a second gradient. Machine and price: the Vaayu you probably already own at ₹11,999, re-mounted; one SOSA Angaan at ₹25,999 past about 3,000 sq ft on one plant, on a duct that serves the sales floor alone only if whoever maintains the plant confirms it - SOSA gives no engineering advice. And the frame: fragrance is an interiors decision, like lighting or music. SOSA makes no claim that it changes dwell time, footfall, conversion or sales, no claim about what it does to any appliance or finish, and it is never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or extraction. The live kitchen and coffee counter stay unscented. Ask for a showroom scenting plan and shade the strong and weak zones on the plan you send.
Strong in one zone and weak in another is a gradient with a cause on the floor: the AC supply, a return, a busy door, a partition, or a running demo appliance - display AC, chimney, air purifier, open fridge - stripping its own corner. Walk it with everything running, find the cause, and move the source; never turn it up. Vaayu (Rs 11,999) re-mounted, not a second machine.
For an uneven floor of roughly 1,500-3,000 sq ft, the fix is one SOSA Vaayu - waterless, 1000m³, wall-mounted where the walk-through says, timer and key-lock - at ₹11,999, moved rather than joined by a second.
Usually nothing new - the machine you own, moved. Two machines for two sizes of floor, each placed once. The images link to the product pages so every figure here can be checked directly.
A connected floor of about 1,500-3,000 sq ft with a gradient to fix
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³ on one unit, Rs 11,999. Wall or HVAC mount so the source can leave the position that caused the gradient and sit where the walk-through says - high, on the supply wall, away from the return and the demo units; adjustable intensity set from the zone that was weak and key-lock so nobody turns it up for the strong one; 1h/4h/8h/24h timer; under 38dB; no water.
HVAC nebulising diffuser rated to 3,000m³ - roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft - Rs 25,999, 800ml reservoir, programmable schedules, under 42dB. Wall-mounted where the gradient walk says, or connected to a duct serving the sales floor alone once whoever maintains the plant has confirmed it. One Angaan re-positioned rather than a Vaayu added to the weak zone.
1000m³ on a single unit, Rs 11,999, wall or HVAC mount, adjustable intensity, 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app with 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, key-lock, under 38dB. The wall bracket is what lets a gradient be fixed by position; the key-lock is what stops it being made worse by the dial. CE, RoHS, SGS certified. Made in India.
The five causes of a gradient, in the order to check them
Five things that move air on an appliance floor, each of which makes a strong zone and a weak zone of its own. Check them in this order, with the plant and every demo appliance running as they would on a trading day.
1
The supply
The strong zone is downstream of the source
Find the supply grilles and hold a tissue under each with the plant on; the lean shows the direction the conditioned air takes, and the fragrance takes it too. If the strong zone is where the supply blows towards and the weak zone is where it blows away from, the source is on a wall the supply crosses but the wrong part of it - it is charging one lane of the floor. Move the Vaayu along the same wall until the supply carries it across the displays rather than into a corner, and mount it high so the output joins the stream above head height instead of pooling at the desk. On a corridor floor the position is chosen by thirds, which a long, narrow showroom works through; on a square floor it is the wall the tissue leans away from, roughly central.
Test: the tissue under each supply grille leans the way your fragrance travels. Put the source at the start of that route.
2
The return
The weak zone is often the drain
A return grille pulls air out of the room, and the zone around it is thin no matter how close the machine sits - in fact a machine near a return makes the whole floor thin while its own corner stays strong, which is the gradient owners describe most often. The tissue leans towards a return. Rule out every wall within a few metres of it, then place the source as far from it as the supply side allows. The level does not come up to compensate: the return removes a fixed share of whatever passes it, and more output means more removed. Why the fragrance disappears when the AC runs is this cause told as a whole-floor symptom, and scent at reception but not across the floor is the version where the desk sits beside the drain.
Rule: if the strong zone is beside a grille the tissue leans towards, that grille is the reason for the weak zone everywhere else.
The Vaayu wall-mounts anywhere on the floor, which is what lets it leave the return and sit with the supply.
A busy door exchanges the threshold air with the street many times an hour, and the first three to five metres inside it will be weak whatever the plan; that is a dead zone to accept, not to fix, and constantly opening glass doors explains why turning up to reach it over-scents everything else. Partitions and display kitchens make a different dead zone: they block fragrance at the height they stand, so a source at counter height leaves everything past the first panel weak. The fix is height - above the tallest partition line, on the supply wall - and do partition walls change fragrance distribution gives the method. Neither cause is a reason for a second machine. The door zone is left alone and the partition problem is a bracket.
Rule: weak by the door: accept it. Weak past the first display kitchen: mount higher.
4
Running demo appliances
The merchandise moves the air - place for it, do not fight it
This is the cause that belongs to appliance showrooms alone. A display air-conditioner on demo blows a stream across its zone for as long as the demo runs; a chimney or range hood on demo pulls the air in front of it up and out; an air purifier on a plinth draws its corner's air through a filter and returns it stripped; an open built-in fridge spills cold air along the floor and a row of them makes a cold, still lane. Each makes a weak zone, and each is correct to, because the zone in front of a running unit is where the demonstration is happening. So the source is placed where the demo units are not blowing or pulling - typically on the wall opposite the AC display, upstream of nothing, away from the hood - and the weak zone in front of a running unit is accepted as the product working. The AC experience centre and the chimney and hob showroom are the full versions. On the merchandise, one thing only: SOSA makes no claim about what fragrance does to any appliance or finish, running or not; the product fact is that a waterless machine adds no moisture and leaves no residue.
Rule: walk the floor with every demo unit running as it would on a trading day. A gradient that appears only then has its cause switched on.
5
The level, from the weak zone
Set from the place that was thin, and lock it
Once the source has moved, the level is set again, and it is set from the zone that was weak - the far displays, the last kitchen, the corner behind the partition - not from the zone that was strong, and never from the door or from in front of a running demo unit. Stand there at five in the afternoon with the advisor who works that end: the register should be present, faintly, and un-nameable; the strong zone will by then have come down on its own because the source is no longer feeding it directly. Then the key-lock on the Vaayu goes on, because a gradient is the strongest argument a floor ever makes for turning it up and the lock is what keeps the fix from being undone by the first person who walks in from the street. And the demonstration rule stands whatever the gradient: the live kitchen and coffee counter stay unscented, the machine off on the timer while a demo runs, extraction clearing the room afterwards.
The Vaayu holds a level under a key-lock - the feature an uneven floor needs most once the source has been moved.
A gradient is the floor telling you where its air goes. Read it with the plant and the demo appliances running, move the source to the start of that route, and the setting can stay where the advisor stopped noticing it.
Supply, return, door, partitions, demo units. Five causes, one source, and a dial that stays where it was.
Moved to where the air path says, set from the weak zone, locked: SOSA Vaayu, ₹11,999, waterless, wall-mounted, timer and key-lock, up to 1000m³ of connected air.
Here is the diagnosis as a table. Walk the floor at five in the afternoon with the plant and the demo appliances running, note where the register is and where it is not, and read down.
The SOSA gradient read
Strong here, weak there - what each pattern means
What you notice
The cause, and the fix
Strong in one lane of the floor, weak across the rest
The supply is carrying the source into a corner. Move the source along the supply wall and mount it high so the stream carries it across the displays.
Strong beside one grille, thin everywhere else, tank emptying on schedule
The source is near a return. Move it as far from the return as the supply side allows; do not raise the setting.
Weak in the first few metres inside the door, fine deeper in
The door. Accepted; nothing scented goes there and no level is judged there.
Strong at the desk, weak past the first display kitchen
Partitions at counter height. Mount above the tallest partition line on the supply wall; the level then comes down.
Weak only in front of the AC display, the chimney wall or the air purifier plinth - and only while they run
Running demo appliances stripping their zone. Correct. Place the source out of their path and accept the zone as the demonstration working.
Weak in the far half of a floor that is already correctly mounted
Position along the wall, not a second machine. One Vaayu per connected volume; move it, set from the far half, lock. View →
The register that should read the same everywhere: one Mountain Breeze reed diffuser at the desk of a small studio, ₹849 for 50ml, 6-8 weeks - a reed reaches one desk zone, which is a gradient by design.
The strong corner is not the machine winning and the weak corner is not the machine losing. Both are the air telling you where it goes, and the only honest response is to move.

The SOSA gradient specification
One source, moved to the start of the air path - never a second one for the weak zone
HVAC nebuliser, 3,000m³, 800ml reservoir, programmable schedules; wall-mounted where the gradient walk says, or a sales-floor-only duct confirmed by whoever maintains the plant
A weak zone in front of a running display AC, chimney or air purifier is the demonstration working and is accepted, not fixed. The four 100ml bottles in the Vaayu box are the supply; confirm refill availability with SOSA before you plan on it. Fragrance here is an interiors decision like lighting or music, with no claim about footfall, dwell time, conversion or sales, and no claim about what it does to any appliance or finish. It works alongside ventilation, cleaning and extraction, never instead of them. The live kitchen and coffee counter stay unscented.Ask for a showroom scenting plan and shade the strong and weak zones on your plan.

A note from Sonal
The uneven floor is the complaint that most often arrives with a photograph of the machine and a question about whether it is faulty. It almost never is. I ask the owner to walk the floor at five with the plant on and every demo appliance running as it would on a Saturday, and to tell me where it is strong and where it is not. The answer is usually in their own description: strong by the desk, which is beside a grille; weak by the AC wall, where three display units are blowing; nothing by the door, which is a door.
Then I ask what they did about it, and the answer is always that they turned it up, and the advisor by the desk asked them to turn it back down. Both were right. A gradient is not a strength problem, and the dial makes the strong zone stronger and the weak zone no better. The Vaayu comes off the shelf and goes on a bracket, high, on the supply wall, away from the return, out of the path of the demo units, and the level is set again from the corner that was thin. Nine times out of ten it ends up below where it was. On a very large floor the same walk moves an Angaan instead; if a duct is being discussed, whoever maintains the plant confirms it serves the sales floor alone, and I give no engineering advice.
What I will not do is sell a second machine for the weak zone, because one volume of air takes one source and a second makes a second gradient. And I will not fight a running chimney or a display air-conditioner for its corner: that corner smelling of nothing is the demonstration working, exactly as it should. The frame around every plan: no claim that fragrance moves dwell time, footfall or sales, and no claim about what it does to anything on display. It is an interiors decision, like lighting or music, alongside ventilation and extraction, never instead of them, and the live kitchen stays unscented. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find out why the fragrance is uneven across my appliance showroom?
Walk the floor at five in the afternoon with the AC plant on and every demo appliance running as it would on a trading day, with a strip of tissue and someone from the team. Note where the register is strong and where it is absent, then look at what moves the air in each place: a supply grille, a return, the door, a partition, or a running display unit. The strong zone shows where the source is; the weak zone shows what is taking the fragrance away.
Do running display air-conditioners and chimneys really change where the fragrance goes?
Yes, and they are the cause that belongs to appliance showrooms alone. A display AC on demo blows a stream across its zone, a chimney or range hood pulls the air in front of it up and out, an air purifier draws its corner's air through a filter and returns it stripped, and an open built-in fridge spills cold air along the floor. Each makes a weak zone while it runs, and each is correct to: place the source out of their path and accept the zone as the demonstration working.
Should I add a second scent machine in the zone where the fragrance is weak?
No. A connected floor is one volume of air and one volume takes one machine; a second source in the same air makes a second gradient meeting the first at a level nobody set. Move the single SOSA Vaayu instead - higher, onto the supply wall, away from the return, inward from the door, above the partitions, out of the demo units' path - and set the level again from the zone that was weak. Past about 3,000 sq ft on one plant, one SOSA Angaan replaces the Vaayu rather than joining it.
Once the machine has been moved, where do I judge the new fragrance level from?
From the zone that was weak - the far displays, the last kitchen, the corner behind the partition - never from the zone that was strong, and never from the door or from in front of a running demo unit. Stand there at five in the afternoon with the advisor who works that end; the register should be faintly present and un-nameable. The strong zone comes down on its own once the source stops feeding it directly. Then lock the setting with the key-lock.
Is a gradient near the reception desk the same problem as a gradient near the AC display wall?
Same symptom, different cause, and that is why the walk-through matters. Strong at the desk and weak beyond it is usually a return grille near reception or a partition at counter height, fixed by moving the source away from the return and above the partition line. Weak in front of the AC display wall only while the units run is the demo appliances stripping their zone, which is correct and is accepted. Neither is fixed by the dial, and neither needs a second machine.
Moved, set from the weak zone, locked: SOSA Vaayu, ₹11,999, waterless, wall-mounted, timer and key-lock.

Facts verified 7 September 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with a 400ml refillable tank lasting 90+ days a fill depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and onboard button control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, operation under 38dB, DC 12V/1A at 5W (roughly 1.5 units of electricity a month on a ten-hour daily schedule), freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, auto-stop and key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS certification - electrical and compliance marks. Being waterless, it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on surfaces or displays; the four 100ml bottles in the box are the supply, and refill availability should be confirmed with SOSA. The SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) is an HVAC nebulising diffuser rated to 3,000m³, roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft, with an 800ml reservoir, metal body, programmable schedules and operation under 42dB; the SOSA Meenar (₹38,500) is the HVAC machine for 12,000-18,000 sq ft. The SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) is a 500ml water-based ultrasonic diffuser for a single room of roughly 270-320 sq ft. SOSA reed diffusers - Mountain Breeze (₹849 / ₹1,349) and Morning Freshness (₹749 / ₹1,249), or the two together as the Fresh & Grounded duo (₹1,548 / ₹2,548) - are alcohol-free and phthalate-free, with a 50ml bottle lasting 6-8 weeks and a 130ml bottle 14-18 weeks. Ambient fragrance in a showroom is an interior and hospitality decision: SOSA makes no claim that it changes dwell time, footfall, conversion, basket size, sales or any other business number, no claim about what it does to any appliance, surface or finish on display, and it is never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or extraction.
