The box on a shelf is a decision somebody made before the scent existed. Fragrance is chosen by what it smells like, so the useful version of this question is which musk-based attar is worth smelling, and there is one.
Quick answers — read this first
Which SOSA attar works for both men and women? SOSA Adaa at ₹379. It is the lightest of the four attars and carries white musk as a base note beside vetiver and cedarwood, under jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang. Choose it by smell, not by the label.

Is there a plain musk in the SOSA range? No. SOSA makes no musk soliflore. White musk is a base note in Adaa, Ameeri and Nawaab and is absent from Mastani, so the answer here is a musk-based composition rather than a single-note musk.

Do Ameeri and Nawaab also work for anyone? They can, because I do not sort them by sex either. They are simply deeper, with amber and oudh in the base, so for a musk-led, close, light brief the answer is still Adaa.
The short answer
Short answer: SOSA Adaa. Its florals and woods sit in one composition, over white musk, and nothing in it is dense or resinous. Choose it by smell on your own wrist, whoever you are.
The pick: One 3ml of SOSA Adaa at ₹379, one dab, judged at hour three on an ordinary day. SOSA makes no musk soliflore; the white musk is a base note.
Next step: Tell us what you wear now and what you dislike in it, and we will say whether a SOSA attar fits or whether to look elsewhere. Ask for an attar recommendation.

The musk-based answer first, then the honest limits. Florals, woods and white musk in one light composition, with the three things the range does not hold stated plainly.

Straight answer
Which Musk Attar Works for Both Men and Women?
SOSA Adaa, and the answer rests on smell rather than on a label. Before the reasons, the limit: there is no musk soliflore in the range, and white musk is a base note in three of the four. Here is the decision in five steps.

1. Be plain about the musk first. SOSA makes no musk soliflore. White musk is a base note in SOSA Adaa, SOSA Ameeri and SOSA Nawaab, and SOSA Mastani has none. What works here is a musk-based composition, not a single-note musk.

2. Choose by smell, not by the label. A label is a guess about who will buy. SOSA Adaa at ₹379 puts jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang beside vetiver and cedarwood, and nobody needs permission to like either half.

3. Read the base, because that is where the musk is. Adaa rests on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood, with bergamot, green cardamom and neroli on top. Nothing resinous, no oudh, no amber, so the musk is not buried.

4. Treat the deeper two on their own terms. SOSA Ameeri and SOSA Nawaab carry white musk too, under amber and oudh. They are not made for one sex, and they are not the close, light answer either.

5. Test on your own wrist. One dab, three ordinary days, judged at hour three. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin and nothing beyond that; how far it carries depends on your skin, dose and weather.

Nobody can promise you what anyone else will think of it, and I am not going to. What a fragrance can be is consistent, close and distinctive. What it does in someone else's head is theirs.
SOSA Adaa at ₹379, chosen by smell and not by the label. Musk is a base note in it, and there is no musk soliflore in the range. One 3ml, one dab, hour three.
The one to smell is a single 3ml of SOSA Adaa at ₹379: Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. Alcohol-free roll-on oil on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier, hand-blended in Pune. A musk-based composition, and not a musk soliflore, which SOSA does not make.

The four attars, chosen by smell

SOSA makes four attars, all alcohol-free oils on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier, hand-blended in Pune, as roll-ons in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml. None of them is sorted by who it is for. They are sorted by how deep they are, and that is the scale that matters when you are choosing by smell.

SOSA Adaa
The musk-based pick, light and open to anyone
SOSA Adaa
₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12ml. Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. The lightest of the four, composed with no oudh. Florals and woods share one frame over a base of musk, which is why it does not belong on either shelf.
From ₹379
SOSA Ameeri
Carries white musk, and is deeper by design
SOSA Ameeri
₹385 for 3ml, ₹679 for 6ml, ₹1,165 for 12ml. Persian saffron, pink pepper and bergamot over Taif rose and Indian sandalwood, on soft oudh, amber and white musk. SOSA's own line is that it is the scent of old money. The musk is there, under the amber and oudh, and it is not the subject.
From ₹385
SOSA Nawaab
The deepest of the four, also carries white musk, also for anyone
SOSA Nawaab · alcohol-free roll-on attar
₹399 for 3ml, ₹699 for 6ml, ₹1,199 for 12ml. White royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron and aged tobacco leaf over amber, leather and white musk. Oud-led from the first minute. Nothing in it belongs to one sex, and it is the opposite of a close, light musk, so it is the right choice only if depth is what you are after.

Why smell beats the label here

Three reasons to trust your own nose over a box. None of them is an argument against anyone's taste. They are an argument for making the decision at the moment the scent is actually in front of you.

1
One
A label tells you who was pictured, not what it smells like
The label on a box is a decision about marketing, taken before anyone has smelled the scent. It is useful to a shop that needs to shelve things. It tells you nothing about whether the bergamot is bright, whether the base is dense, or whether you will still like it at hour three. Look at Adaa's note list and try to sort it: jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang above vetiver and cedarwood, with cardamom and neroli on top. It is the list a perfumer would write for either wearer, because the list has never been the point.
Tip: Read the notes and the base, then put the box out of your mind. Judge the bottle by what is on your own wrist at hour three.
SOSA Adaa
Adaa at ₹379 is a fair test of the idea: florals and woods in one light composition, over white musk, with no oudh, no amber and nothing resinous.

Two
In Adaa the musk is a base, which is why it suits any wearer
White musk in Adaa sits under the other notes. It is not the subject and it is not meant to be. It joins the vetiver and cedarwood in the base and ties them to the jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang above, so the composition reads as one thing rather than a floral stacked on a wood. That also explains the honesty of the page: there is no musk soliflore in the range, and if a plain musk is the only thing you will wear, I would rather say so now. Adaa is musk-based, light and close. It is not a single-note musk.
Tip: If you want a pure musk, say so when you write to us, and we will tell you plainly that SOSA does not make one.
SOSA Ameeri
Ameeri at ₹385 shows the other way white musk can sit: under soft oudh and amber, as support rather than as the light lead, with Taif rose and saffron above it.
See SOSA Ameeri →
3
Three
A 3ml lets your own nose make the decision for you
The only way to know whether a scent is yours is to wear it. One dab of Adaa on your own wrist on three ordinary days, judged at hour three, will tell you more than any note list or label. If two of you in one household like it, two 3ml bottles are ₹379 each, and each of you can find your own dose; the same dab reads differently on different skin, which is true of every fragrance. The larger sizes can wait until you are sure, and they are ₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12ml.
Tip: Do not borrow an opinion. Wear it for three ordinary days, one dab, and write down what you thought at hour three.
SOSA Attar Trio
If you want to smell deeper compositions too, the Attar Trio from ₹1,055 is Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani boxed together. It does not include Adaa.

The SOSA principle
The label is a prediction about the buyer. The smell is a fact about the bottle. When you choose a fragrance you are entitled to use the fact and ignore the prediction, and most people do exactly that within a week.
That is the whole position of this page. Adaa is not a compromise between two audiences. It is a light, musk-based composition, and anyone who likes how it smells is the right person to wear it.
SOSA Adaa
The musk-based pick, on its live page: Adaa at ₹379 is bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. The lightest of the four, with no oudh in the composition.

Three days on your own wrist

The table below is a three-day test that ignores the label entirely. Same bottle, same dose, three ordinary days, and one question at hour three: do you like how it smells, and is it close enough?

The SOSA plan
A three-day smell test of Adaa, with the label put away
The day, and what you are testing The dose, and what to write down
SOSA AdaaDay one, a plain working day, one dab on one wrist
Wear it and forget about it. At hour three, lift your wrist. Write down one sentence about what you smell, without using the words masculine or feminine, and see how far you get. View →
Day two, the same dab, on a day with other smells around
Is it still findable at hour three? If you cannot find it, try a second dab tomorrow. The dose is yours to set, and the label never had a view on it.
Day three, a warm, long day, one dab only
Heat lifts an oil. Note whether the musk comes forward or the florals do. This is the day you learn how the composition moves on you.
Day four, decide on the smell alone, nothing else
Do you like it? If yes, you have your answer and it was never about a label. If it was not quite right, tell us which part, and we will name a different bottle. Ask for an attar recommendation.

If you are collecting musk guides, the others in this family are worth reading alongside this one. The musk guide covers the whole range from the musk side, and the white musk page goes further into what the note does in each bottle. If your real concern is how close a scent sits, the soft-and-intimate guide takes it directly. The position is the same across all of them: SOSA makes no musk soliflore, SOSA Adaa is the light, musk-based attar, and the label on a box is the least important thing about it. If you want a person to look at your own case, describe what you wear now and we will reply.

SOSA Ameeri
White musk under rose, saffron and amber: Ameeri at ₹385 is Persian saffron and pink pepper over Taif rose and Indian sandalwood, on soft oudh, amber and white musk. Deeper by design, and not the close, light answer this question asks for.
A bottle named from what you already wear
Tell us what you wear now and what you dislike in it, and we will say which of the four sits closest, or whether to look elsewhere.
See the SOSA AdaaAsk for an attar recommendation
A box can tell you who a shop expected. It cannot tell you what a scent does at hour three on your own wrist, and that is the only thing worth deciding on.

The SOSA specification for any wearer

One bottle for the brief you asked about, and the two deeper ones so you can see where each sits. Nobody here is sorted by sex. They are sorted by depth, and by where the musk is, which is all a smell-first choice needs.

The SOSA specification for a musk-based attar, for anyone
Start with the light, musk-based one and read the deeper two against it
Attar Best for Why it works Price
SOSA Adaa Anyone who wants a light, close, musk-based attar to wear ₹379 for 3ml. Bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. No oudh in it ₹379
View →
SOSA Ameeri Anyone wanting white musk under rose, saffron and amber ₹385 for 3ml. Persian saffron and pink pepper over Taif rose and Indian sandalwood, on soft oudh, amber and white musk. Deeper by design ₹385
View →
SOSA Nawaab Anyone who wants depth, with white musk quietly beneath ₹399 for 3ml. White royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron and aged tobacco leaf, over amber, leather and white musk. The deepest of the four ₹399
View →
SOSA makes no musk soliflore. White musk is a base note in SOSA Adaa, SOSA Ameeri and SOSA Nawaab, and SOSA Mastani has none, so Mastani is not a musk answer at all. If a plain, heavy, enveloping musk is what you are after, this range will not give you that, and I would rather say so than let a note name mislead you. Adaa is ₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12ml. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin and nothing further; how far a scent carries depends on skin, dose, clothing and weather, and varies from person to person. Nobody can promise you what anyone else will think of it, and I am not going to. Ours is a contact page and a person who replies: Ask for an attar recommendation and tell us what you wear now.

A note from Sonal

A label is the least informative thing on a bottle. It tells you who a shop expected to sell it to, and nothing about the bergamot, the base, or how the scent sits at hour three. When someone asks me for a musk that works for both men and women, I hear a sensible instinct under the question: do not make me choose by a sentence on the packaging. I agree with it, and I think the answer is to put the packaging aside and smell the thing.

That is why I answer this question the way I do. Adaa is jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang over vetiver and cedarwood, on white musk, with bergamot, green cardamom and neroli on top. I do not sort it by who would wear it, and I cannot see a reason to. It is the lightest of my four attars, it has no oudh, and the musk is a base note. I make no musk soliflore, and I will not say Adaa is one.

So the specification is small. One 3ml, one dab, three ordinary days, judged at hour three, with the box out of sight. Nobody can promise you what anyone else will think of how you smell, and I am not trying to; there is nothing riding on this beyond your own preference. If you want something deeper, Ameeri and Nawaab are there, for anyone. A portion of every order supports Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Is Adaa a men's attar or a women's attar?
Neither, and I would not file it either way. SOSA Adaa at ₹379 is bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. It is a light, musk-based composition, and the right wearer is whoever likes how it smells on their own wrist.
Is there a musk soliflore I can buy from SOSA?
No. SOSA makes no musk soliflore. White musk is a base note in SOSA Adaa, SOSA Ameeri and SOSA Nawaab, and SOSA Mastani has none at all. If a single-note musk is the only thing you will wear, this range is not the answer, and it is better to know before you spend anything.
Should two people share one 3ml bottle?
It is up to you, but one 3ml each is simple at ₹379, and each of you can find your own dose. The same dab reads differently on different skin, which is true of every fragrance. If you both like it, the 6ml and 12ml are ₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12ml.
Are Ameeri and Nawaab also for anyone?
Yes, in the sense that I do not sort them by sex either. They carry white musk in the base, under amber and oudh, and they are deeper than Adaa by design. For a light, close, musk-based brief, Adaa is the answer; for depth, SOSA Ameeri and SOSA Nawaab are the ones to smell.
What if I cannot tell whether I like it?
Give it three ordinary days, one dab, and judge at hour three. Most doubt about a fragrance is an opinion formed in the first minute. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin; how far it carries depends on skin, dose and weather. If you are still unsure after three days, write to us and describe what you disliked, and we will say honestly whether a different bottle fits.
SOSA Nawaab
