High or low? Off the floor — waist to chest height — for a Sukoon at ₹1,799 or a Boond at ₹799.
Whole home? One Vaayu at ₹11,999 where the air circulates.
2. Off the floor. Waist-to-chest height on a console or shelf — into the air you breathe, clear of dust and furniture.
3. At the crossroads, for coverage. A Vaayu at ₹11,999 where the home’s air circulates carries a single scent outward.
4. Not in the kitchen or a dead corner. Cooking smells fight it; corners trap it.
5. Out of reach of kids and pets. Place high and ventilate; keep it gentle in homes with children or animals.
And a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Place it in moving air
Scent travels on air, so the first question is never “which room” but “where does the air move here.” A diffuser set in a gentle current — near an open doorway, in the path of an air-conditioning return, close to where people walk in — hands its scent to the room and lets circulation do the distributing. The same machine parked in still, trapped air simply scents the cubic foot in front of it.
The entryway is the highest-value spot in the house. It is where a guest forms their first impression, and where arriving bodies and the opening door keep the air moving. A unit there greets people and feeds the scent inward. Think of siting as choosing an intersection, not a parking space: you want the diffuser standing where the air already flows, so every draught becomes a delivery.
Height, and why the floor is wrong
Put the diffuser off the floor — roughly waist to chest height, on a console, shelf or side table. Scent should disperse into the air you actually breathe, and a machine on the ground scents ankles, gathers dust and, for an ultrasonic unit, risks laying a fine mist onto the floor and nearby furniture. A raised position lets the scent rise and mingle at the level where people live.
For ultrasonic diffusers like the Boond and Sukoon, height also protects surfaces: keep the unit clear of anything the fine mist could settle on, and off polished wood it might mark over time. The waterless Vaayu is easier here — it throws a dry cloud with no moisture — but it, too, works best raised and standing in circulating air rather than tucked below a table.
| Place | Verdict | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Entryway console | Best | First impression; air moves as people arrive |
| Near an AC return | Excellent | Scent pulled into circulation and spread |
| Living-room shelf, off floor | Good | Breathing height, in the social space |
| Directly under an AC vent | Poor | Draught blows scent out before it settles |
| Kitchen counter | Poor | Cooking smells overpower it |
| Floor / dead corner | Worst | Scents ankles; trapped, still air |

Where not to put it
Some spots quietly waste a good machine. The kitchen during cooking is a losing battle — fry, tadka and steam will out-shout any diffuser, so scent the adjacent living space and let it drift back once the cooking is done. A dead corner traps the scent where no one stands. Directly under an air-conditioner blows it away. And the floor keeps it below the air you breathe.
The most important “don’t” is about safety, not scent. In a home with children or pets, keep every unit — and its oil — well out of reach, place it high and stable where it cannot be knocked, run it gently, and ventilate the room. A curious toddler or a cat should never be able to reach the bottle. Light, high and aired is the rule for a family home; a Boond on a high shelf on its lowest setting is a sensible default.
Siting one machine for the whole home
If you are using a single machine to scent a connected home, its position is the whole game. Put it where the home’s air naturally gathers and circulates — usually the living-dining space, or near the foot of a staircase in a two-floor home — so the scent has somewhere to travel from. A Vaayu at that crossroads reaches far more of the home than the same machine pushed into a bedroom.
Match the machine to how long it runs, too. For the long daily hours a whole-home setup wants, the waterless Vaayu adds no humidity and throws farther; ultrasonic units are better suited to a single room in shorter bursts, and add a little moisture as they mist. The two are not interchangeable — in a humid coastal city especially, waterless is the steadier all-day choice.
The SOSA home edit
Wherever you place it, size the machine to the space it serves — a room unit for a room, the whole-home machine for a connected home — and run one scent throughout.

Versailles
Half the “my diffuser is too weak” messages I get are not weak machines at all — they are machines in the wrong place. A lovely Sukoon hidden in a corner behind a sofa will always seem faint.
Move it into moving air, off the floor, near where people come and go, and the same machine transforms. Position is the cheapest upgrade there is. And in homes with little ones, high and out of reach comes before everything.
Place it well and your home greets people at the door; a girl gets a classroom through Nanhi Kali. Good siting costs nothing and gives the most.

Facts verified August 2026: Scent’s effect on mood, memory and how a space is perceived is real but moderate, and it never substitutes for clean, ventilated air. Scent disperses on moving air, which is why siting near circulation beats a still corner; the Vaayu is rated to about 1000 cubic metres.
