Why not put one near the AC? Because moving air pulls a passive source dry much faster and pushes the whole register to head height, so you get a shorter bottle life and a level nobody chose.
Why not the windowsill? Direct sun and outdoor air exchange both work against it. The bottle empties faster and most of what it releases leaves the room.
Three good positions, and four that waste the bottle
Placement is the cheapest improvement available in this category, because it changes both how long a bottle lasts and how much of it anybody ever perceives, and it costs nothing. A reed diffuser is a passive source: oil travels up the reeds and evaporates from their surface into the air around them, at a rate set by temperature, air movement and how much reed surface is exposed. Every placement rule below follows from that one mechanism. The three positions that work, in order of value. First, the entrance. This is the highest-value spot in any home, because the first few seconds after the door opens is the only moment anybody reads your home accurately - within a minute a visitor has adapted just as you have. Put the bottle on a console or shelf just inside the door at roughly chest height, in the path of air that comes in when the door opens, and on something solid where it will not be knocked. Garden Bloom at Rs 799 and Morning Freshness at Rs 749 both suit it, and the Boond at Rs 799 is the option where the console is narrow. Second, the bathroom. Place it on a shelf or on the cistern, away from the shower spray, because water landing on reeds saturates them and ruins the wicking. It is a small enclosed volume behind a door that stays shut, so it needs less than people give it, and it wants a clean note rather than a sweet one: Fresh Brew at Rs 849 or Mountain Breeze at Rs 849. Third, the bedroom. Put it on a far shelf, a chest of drawers or a dressing table rather than the bedside table, and keep it at the lightest level in the flat. Sleeping beside a source means you adapt to it entirely, so you cannot judge it, and the person in the room should be able to move it further or cap it without asking anybody. Evening Calm at Rs 799 suits it. Now the four positions that waste the bottle, all of them common. Beside an air conditioner or a fan. Moving air across the reeds increases evaporation sharply, so the bottle that should last three to four months empties in weeks, and while it does, the register is pushed out at head height in a burst nobody chose. If the only shelf you have is near the AC, move the bottle to the far side of the room instead and accept a slightly quieter result, which is the better trade every time. On a windowsill. Two things work against it: direct sun warms and degrades the oil, and outdoor air exchange carries most of what evaporates straight out. You pay for fragrance that leaves. In a passage. This is the most common placement error in compact flats, and the logic feels right - it is central, so surely it reaches everything. In practice nobody sits in a walkway, so the source serves an unoccupied space, and every room opening onto the passage pulls at it, which means it is drained by rooms it never properly reaches. Put it in a room where people actually are. On the shoe rack. The shoe rack is very often the actual reason an entrance smells wrong, and a bottle placed on top of it is fragrance layered directly over the source, which anybody arriving reads as concealment. Ventilate the rack, keep shoes off the floor where you can, and place the bottle elsewhere in the entrance. Maintenance, which is minimal but not zero. Rotate the reeds every week or two, taking them out and putting the dry end down, which restores the wicking and evens out the release. Use all the reeds supplied for a normal room and remove one or two if it is too strong for a small bathroom - that is the volume control, and it works in both directions. Expect three to four months a bottle, with refills at Rs 2,399 for 300ml and Rs 3,499 for 500ml. And two places nothing goes at all, whatever shelf is free: the kitchen at any time, because cooking smell needs extraction rather than competition, and the balcony, because covered outdoor air cannot hold fragrance at all.
Placement, room by room
Placement, room by room. Entrance: a console or shelf just inside the door at about chest height, in the path of air coming in, on something solid - Morning Freshness at Rs 749, Garden Bloom at Rs 799, or the SOSA Boond at Rs 799 where the console is narrow. Bathroom: a shelf or the cistern, away from the shower spray, since water on the reeds saturates them and ruins the wicking - Fresh Brew at Rs 849 or Mountain Breeze at Rs 849, clean rather than sweet. Bedroom: a far shelf, chest of drawers or dressing table rather than the bedside table, at the lightest level in the flat, from a source the occupant can move or cap - Evening Calm at Rs 799. Avoid beside an air conditioner or fan, where moving air empties a three to four month bottle in weeks while pushing the register to head height; avoid the windowsill, where sun degrades the oil and outdoor exchange carries most of it out; avoid a passage, where nobody sits and every adjoining room pulls at the source; and avoid the shoe rack, which is usually the actual problem and cannot be solved by a bottle placed on it. Maintenance: rotate the reeds every week or two with the dry end down, use all the reeds supplied in a normal room and remove one or two if a small bathroom is too strong, and expect three to four months per bottle with refills at Rs 2,399 for 300ml and Rs 3,499 for 500ml. Never placed at all: the kitchen at any time, since cooking smell needs extraction rather than competition; children's rooms; and covered balconies, terraces and verandahs, which cannot hold fragrance. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards.

Versailles
Most customer gifts are bought to be handed over, not to be kept: the sweet box is finished by the family that evening, the keychain joins a drawer, the branded pen was never really a gift at all. Then the moment that cost your business lakhs to create - the new car, the new home, the big purchase - is remembered with nothing. A fragrance gift keeps that moment alive, because scent is the sense wired closest to memory: months later, your customer is still in the middle of the experience you gave them.
I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and everything we make is built for Indian lives - car diffusers that survive a Mumbai summer, reed diffusers that hold through the monsoon, alcohol-free formulas safe to gift across every customer profile. If you run a dealership, a project, a hotel, a showroom or a team, message the bulk desk on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 - tell me the customer moment and the volumes, and I will help you design the programme myself. The business conversations are my favourite kind: one good gifting programme teaches me more about a category than a year of retail orders.
And a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali - so your customer gift quietly gives twice. That equation has always felt right to me.
Frequently asked questions
Facts verified August 2026: Olfactory memory research shows scent-linked memories are unusually durable and emotionally vivid, which is why a used-daily fragrance gift sustains brand association in a way consumable or novelty gifts do not; customer-experience research consistently finds that peak moments (delivery, possession, checkout) disproportionately shape how the whole purchase is remembered. Fragrance preference is personal: volume gifting programmes should default to gentle fresh, green and lightly floral registers, and to space formats (diffusers, reeds, car fragrance) rather than skin perfume. SOSA range: Hotel Collection ultrasonic fragrance from Rs 299; car perfumes from Rs 449 (spray and hanging, alcohol-free); attars Nawaab, Ameeri, Mastani and Adaa from Rs 379 (3ml/6ml/12ml, alcohol-free); Attar Trio from Rs 1,055; perfumes from Rs 499; reed diffusers from Rs 749; Boond Rs 799, Sukoon Rs 1,799 and Megh Rs 3,499 ultrasonic diffusers; SOSA Safar waterless car and travel diffuser Rs 3,999 (rechargeable, three hotel-inspired scents included); SOSA Vaayu waterless scent machine Rs 11,999 (~1000m³, app + timer).
