Honest notes before you spend anything. Hanging and spray are not a quality ladder. They are the same oil at the same price with the same safety profile, and SOSA's own guidance is to choose by how you drive rather than by what you pay: the hanging bottle gives a mild level that is simply there every time you get in, and the spray gives a strong level exactly when you decide you want one. A car cabin is tiny. A sedan holds only a few cubic metres of air, which is a fraction of any room, so under-dosing is the sensible default and one spray is usually a decision rather than a starting point. Winter changes the dose, not the scent. Closed windows and a running heater mean almost no air exchange and warmer air lifting fragrance faster off any source, so the same bottle reads considerably stronger in January than in October - tighten the stopper or use fewer sprays rather than changing what you own. Placement matters for safety before it matters for fragrance. A hanging bottle must never sit where it obstructs your view of the road; hang it so it is secure and out of your sightline, and never spray while driving or towards the windscreen. Keep any bottle from resting directly against leather, fabric or dashboard plastics. Cars are shared. Passengers include children, elderly relatives, pregnant family members and people who get headaches in closed cabins, and they cannot step outside; gentle dosing is the default and anyone reporting a headache is a recalibration signal, not a complaint to argue with. A car is the smallest space any of us scents, and the one we sit closest to. Two or three cubic metres of air, a metre from your face, with the windows up and the heater on for four months of the year. I say this to customers constantly and it still surprises people: almost every car fragrance problem I am sent is a dose problem, not a scent problem. The bottle is not weak and the oil is not wrong. The cabin simply gives fragrance nowhere to go, and winter takes away the little ventilation that was rescuing you in October.
That is why we sell the hanging bottle and the spray at the same price. They are the same oil. One gives you a mild level that is always there and asks nothing of you; the other gives you a strong level the moment you decide you want one. Neither is the better product, and pricing them differently would only push people toward whichever we wanted to sell. Choose by how you drive: a long daily commute is a hanging car, a car that matters most when somebody else gets into it is a spray car, and plenty of people quite sensibly run both.

Frequently asked questions
Is a woody fragrance really better for a dark interior?
Better is the wrong word, and the honest answer is that it is a taste question with a very sensible logic behind it. Dark trim and woody registers share a vocabulary - deep, warm, grounded, quiet - so pairing them feels coherent, and a cabin that feels coherent is a nicer place to spend an hour a day. What a woody register does not do is perform better in a dark cabin than in a beige one. Interior colour is an aesthetic association rather than a technical variable, and the things that genuinely change the answer are cabin volume, how long you drive, how hot the car gets and whether it is closed with the heater on. If you would rather have a fresh register in a dark cabin, nothing about the car will object. Lemon at Rs 449 and Sea Breeze at Rs 509 are both entirely reasonable choices in a charcoal interior.
Which of the three woods lasts longest in a car?
We do not publish that comparison, and you should be wary of anyone who does. The reason is that in a car cabin the format and the setting dominate anything intrinsic to the oil: a hanging 12ml bottle with the stopper tightened will read milder and last differently from the same scent with the stopper loosened, and a spray is a completely different delivery again. What we can tell you is what each format does. A hanging bottle gives a mild continuous throw and lasts four to six weeks, in every scent, and then takes a 15ml refill from Rs 399 for another four to six weeks. A 10ml spray holds 100 sprays, which is about fifty days at two a day or three months and more at one a day. Those numbers are the same for Sandalwood, Vetiver and Oud.
I like Oud but I am worried it will be too much in a closed car. Is it?
It can be, and the honest framing is SOSA's own: Oud at Rs 509 is the deepest scent in the range and it is positioned for evening and pre-event drives rather than as an all-day winter baseline. A deep resinous register in a small closed heated cabin is the easiest way to overdo car fragrance, because there is almost no air exchange when the windows are up and the warm air lifts fragrance faster off the source. That does not mean avoid it. It means run it in the hanging format with the adjustable stopper tightened, or as one spray rather than two, and reduce again once the heater has been running for a few weeks. If you find yourself opening a window to get away from it, that is the signal to tighten it further or switch to Sandalwood at Rs 479 for the winter months.
Does the size of an SUV cabin change which wood I should pick?
It changes the format and the dose far more than it changes the scent. A large SUV holds several times the air of a hatchback, and most of that extra volume is behind the rear-view mirror where a hanging bottle hangs. So a single hanging bottle reads milder than the same bottle did in a smaller car, and mildest of all in the rows furthest back. That is geometry rather than a fault in the product, and the fix is not a stronger scent - it is either accepting that one source serves the front of the cabin well, or adding a deliberate second event at the back with a spray of the same scent. The wood you choose is still a mood decision. The format, the setting and where the fragrance is placed are the technical ones.
Can I hang the bottle somewhere other than the rear-view mirror?
The rule that matters comes first: whatever you do, the bottle must never obstruct the driver's view of the road, and anything hung at the mirror should be small, secure and out of the sightline. Within that, the mirror is where a hanging bottle works best, because it sits in the path of the cabin's own air movement, which is what diffuses it.
