Which SOSA diffuser is best for dry rooms? The Megh (6L, ₹3499) for a whole living room or a badly AC-dried space, the Sukoon (500ml, ₹1799) for a bedroom, and the Boond (300ml, ₹799) for a desk or small area.
Do they purify the air? No. They add moisture and scent - not purification. A diffuser is not an air purifier and does not filter dust, smoke or allergens.
How the same machine does both
There is no separate 'humidifier mode' and 'diffuser mode' to switch between. It is one process: an ultrasonic plate vibrates fast enough to fling water off its surface as a cool micro-mist. That mist is the humidity. Drop water-based fragrance into the tank and the scent simply rides along with it.
'Cool mist' means the water is atomised by vibration, not boiled by heat. There is no heating element, so no hot steam and no burn risk - the mist leaves at room temperature. That is why these units are safe to run near a bed or a child's room.
Because it is one process, the amount you humidify tracks the amount of mist, which tracks the tank and the dial. A 300ml Boond gently moistens the air around a desk; a 500ml Sukoon handles a bedroom; a 6-litre Megh can raise the humidity of a whole living room and keep it there for days.
If humidity is your main goal, run the diffuser with water only - it still moistens the air perfectly. The fragrance is optional. But since the mist is free to carry scent anyway, most people add a few drops of a Hotel Collection fragrance and get both at once.
Beating AC-dry and winter air
Indian homes get dry from two directions. Air-conditioning strips moisture out of a room all summer, and winter - especially in the north - brings its own dry, heated air. Dry air is what leaves you with a scratchy throat overnight, tight skin and static.
A cool-mist diffuser puts some of that moisture back. In a bedroom, running the Sukoon on low overnight takes the edge off the dryness while it scents the room. In a living room or an open-plan space, only the 6-litre Megh has the tank to keep a big volume of air comfortable for days without constant refilling - which is exactly why it is the humidifier-first pick.
Myth: a diffuser cleans or purifies the air. Reality: it does not. It adds moisture and, if you want, scent. It has no filter and does not remove dust, smoke, pollen or pollutants. If you need clean air, that is a purifier's job, not a diffuser's. I would rather you knew that up front.
Two care notes matter more when you are humidifying heavily. First, do not over-humidify - if windows fog or surfaces feel damp, turn the mist down; comfortable, not tropical, is the aim. Second, use clean, room-temperature water, filtered or RO in hard-water cities, and only SOSA's water-based Hotel Collection fragrance. Hard water leaves white mineral dust, and raw essential oils clog the misting plate - both undo the machine you paid for.

Versailles
I trained as a perfumer at ISIPCA in Versailles, but half the questions we get are not about scent at all - they are about the machine. Indian rooms are bone-dry from AC and winter, and most gadget diffusers are too small, too loud, or quit by midnight. So we made three: Boond (300ml, desk), Sukoon (500ml, bedroom, with a remote and mood light) and Megh (6L, whole-room), each shipping with three of our fragrances.
They are cool-mist ultrasonic diffusers - an ultrasonic plate turns water into a fine, cool mist with no heating element, so there is no boiling water or burn risk, and each has an auto shut-off when the tank runs dry.
One thing I say on every listing and will say here: use only SOSA's water-based Hotel Collection fragrance. Raw essential oils, perfumes and carrier oils are thick or solvent-heavy and can clog the misting plate and damage the unit. A few drops of our water-based fragrance in the tank mists cleanly and scents the whole room.
