What decides everything at every size? Doors. A machine serves connected air and cannot cross a closed door, so what matters is how many volumes the house has rather than how many square feet.
Is the largest machine ever wrong in a big house? Yes. A compartmented home does not qualify at any size, because the connected core may be small even when the house is very large.
The whole range, in one table and three rules
This is the whole size range on one page. Read it as two columns rather than a list, because the columns move in different directions and that divergence is the single most useful thing to understand about scenting a home of any size. At 1,000 square feet: usually no machine at all, and three or four bottles - one per bathroom, one at the entrance, one for the living area if a constant level is acceptable. At 1,500: still usually no machine unless you specifically want the level to change with time, and four to six bottles. At 2,000: one machine for the connected living volume, and five to seven bottles. At 2,500 to 3,000: one or two machines depending on whether there is a genuinely occupied second volume, and eight to ten bottles. At 4,000: still one or two machines, and ten to fourteen bottles. At 5,000 and above: two machines, occasionally three, and twelve to sixteen bottles. The machine column rises once, early, from zero to one, occasionally reaches two or three, and then stops permanently. The bottle column rises steadily the entire way and never stops. Three rules explain that pattern, and all three hold at every size. Rule one: doors decide everything. A machine distributes fragrance through connected moving air, and a closed door is a hard boundary it cannot cross at any price or setting. So what a machine serves is a connected volume, not a floor area. This is why the qualifying test for the largest machine is architectural rather than numerical - walk the ground floor at an ordinary hour, changing nothing, and count the closed doors between the living area, dining, the passage and the foot of the stairs. Zero means one large connected volume. Two or more means the house is compartmented, and a compartmented 5,000 square foot home does not qualify while a 2,500 square foot open plan does. It also explains why the machine count flattens: extra square footage in an Indian home usually buys more rooms rather than a larger living room, so the connected core often does not grow while the number of sealed volumes does. Rule two: the coverage figure is quoted in square metres, and 1,000 square metres is roughly 10,700 square feet. A 1,000 square foot home is about 93 square metres, a 3,000 square foot home about 279, a 5,000 square foot home about 465. Almost every home is a fraction of the rating and always will be, which means oversizing is not headroom - a machine has a minimum output calibrated for its intended scale, and a villa unit in a compact flat can exceed the room even at its lowest setting. What the money buys where the machine is right is one device instead of six or eight, nothing to fill before an evening or empty afterwards, and a saved schedule that puts the level at arrival rather than maintaining it constantly for people who cannot perceive it. Rule three: the two highest-value positions in any house are bottles, at every size. The entrance, because everybody who lives in a home has adapted to its background within about an hour and perceives very little of it, which makes walking in from outside the only moment anybody experiences the place properly - and that happens several times a day for the family, not just for guests. And the guest washroom, because it is the one room where a visitor is alone, unhurried and forming a private view of the household. Neither is served by a machine at any price, and both are served perfectly by a reed at Rs 749 to Rs 849 that needs nothing done to it for three to four months and works when the power is out. Two additions that only appear at the top of the range. From about 4,000 square feet the maintenance question becomes the deciding one: a dozen or more sources have a dozen exhaustion dates, so name one person responsible and set one restock date on which everything is replaced and topped up together, quarterly, or the house becomes a patchwork within months without anybody noticing. And from 5,000 square feet upward, a house is usually also a workplace: people spend eight to ten hours a day in air they did not choose, so keep the register quiet, keep the off switch physical and usable by anybody without asking, require no training from anybody, and put nothing in staff quarters or utility areas. Finally, the constants. Nothing in the kitchen at any time, and extraction used every single time with the door shut matters more as houses get larger because cooking smell travels further and settles into more soft furnishing. A mug of water down every drain in bathrooms nobody uses. Nothing at the dining table during a meal, nothing in children's rooms, and nothing on covered terraces, balconies or verandahs, which cannot hold fragrance at any size.
By square footage, end to end
By square footage, end to end. 1,000 sq ft, about 93 m²: usually no machine, three or four reeds - one per bathroom, one at the entrance, one for the living area. 1,500 sq ft: four to six reeds, or the SOSA Sukoon at Rs 1,799 if you specifically want the level to change with time. 2,000 sq ft, about 186 m²: the SOSA Megh at Rs 3,499 with a 6L tank for the connected volume, plus five to seven reeds. 2,500 to 3,000 sq ft: the SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 where the closed-door walk shows a genuinely open ground plane - waterless with no tank, coverage up to 1,000 m², Bluetooth app and timer control - plus eight to ten reeds. 4,000 sq ft: still one or two machines, plus ten to fourteen reeds. 5,000 sq ft and above, about 465 m²: two machines, occasionally three, plus twelve to sixteen reeds, with one named person responsible and one quarterly restock date on which everything is replaced together. Reeds throughout: Morning Freshness at Rs 749, Garden Bloom at Rs 799, Evening Calm at Rs 799, Fresh Brew at Rs 849, Mountain Breeze at Rs 849, three to four months per bottle, refills at Rs 2,399 for 300ml and Rs 3,499 for 500ml, or the SOSA Boond at Rs 799 at the door. The two positions that are bottles at every size: the entrance and the guest washroom. Bedrooms take the lightest level in the house, from a source the occupant can move or cap. Fragrance for machines: Hotel Collection at Rs 299 for 15ml, Rs 999 for 100ml and Rs 1,799 for 300ml - Quiet Luxury in white tea, bergamot and cedar, White Tea Serenity in white tea, aloe and cedar, Forest Suite in cedarwood, vetiver and green leaves - at three to six drops per tank, rinsing between scents. It is a water-based fragrance for ultrasonic diffusers, is not reed diffuser oil, and the two are not interchangeable; reed oil can damage a diffuser. These are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by or associated with any hotel brand. Constants at every size: extraction over the hob used every single time with the kitchen door shut, a mug of water down every drain in bathrooms nobody uses, and nothing at all in the kitchen, at the dining table during a meal, in children's rooms, in staff quarters or utility rooms, or on covered terraces, balconies and verandahs. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards.

Versailles
Most customer gifts are bought to be handed over, not to be kept: the sweet box is finished by the family that evening, the keychain joins a drawer, the branded pen was never really a gift at all. Then the moment that cost your business lakhs to create - the new car, the new home, the big purchase - is remembered with nothing. A fragrance gift keeps that moment alive, because scent is the sense wired closest to memory: months later, your customer is still in the middle of the experience you gave them.
I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and everything we make is built for Indian lives - car diffusers that survive a Mumbai summer, reed diffusers that hold through the monsoon, alcohol-free formulas safe to gift across every customer profile. If you run a dealership, a project, a hotel, a showroom or a team, message the bulk desk on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 - tell me the customer moment and the volumes, and I will help you design the programme myself. The business conversations are my favourite kind: one good gifting programme teaches me more about a category than a year of retail orders.
And a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali - so your customer gift quietly gives twice. That equation has always felt right to me.
Frequently asked questions
Facts verified August 2026: Olfactory memory research shows scent-linked memories are unusually durable and emotionally vivid, which is why a used-daily fragrance gift sustains brand association in a way consumable or novelty gifts do not; customer-experience research consistently finds that peak moments (delivery, possession, checkout) disproportionately shape how the whole purchase is remembered. Fragrance preference is personal: volume gifting programmes should default to gentle fresh, green and lightly floral registers, and to space formats (diffusers, reeds, car fragrance) rather than skin perfume. SOSA range: Hotel Collection ultrasonic fragrance from Rs 299; car perfumes from Rs 449 (spray and hanging, alcohol-free); attars Nawaab, Ameeri, Mastani and Adaa from Rs 379 (3ml/6ml/12ml, alcohol-free); Attar Trio from Rs 1,055; perfumes from Rs 499; reed diffusers from Rs 749; Boond Rs 799, Sukoon Rs 1,799 and Megh Rs 3,499 ultrasonic diffusers; SOSA Safar waterless car and travel diffuser Rs 3,999 (rechargeable, three hotel-inspired scents included); SOSA Vaayu waterless scent machine Rs 11,999 (~1000m³, app + timer).
