Which diffuser? The 6-litre Megh - a living room is big and open, so it needs the reach and runtime a small unit cannot give.
How strong? Still restrained - a large tank on a moderate dial fills the space evenly, without overwhelming anyone on the sofa.
The scents that suit a living room
The living room is where people arrive, so its scent should feel like a welcome - warm, gracious and unmistakably clean, never sweet or cloying. This is the room to lean into hospitality rather than intimacy, because it is a shared, semi-public space in the home.
| Mood | Hotel-inspired scent |
|---|---|
| Gracious, everyday | Warm Welcome (citrus + floral + sandalwood) |
| Calm, hushed luxury | Quiet Luxury (white tea + bergamot + cedar) |
| Entertaining, with buzz | Lobby Bar (citrus + pepper + amber) |
If you want one scent for guests and calm alike, Warm Welcome is the safe, gracious default. Save Lobby Bar's brighter, peppery lift for evenings when friends are over and you want the room to feel alive.
To be clear and honest, these are our own interpretations of the styles famous hotels are known for, not the hotels' actual scents, and SOSA is not affiliated with them - the names just describe the style. Whichever you choose, keep it restrained: a living room should smell welcoming, not perfumed.
Why the room needs the Megh
Here is the part people get wrong. They buy a pretty little diffuser, set it on a side table in a large open-plan living room, and wonder why they can only smell it if they sit right next to it. The scent is fine - the machine is simply too small for the space.
Myth: "Any diffuser will scent any room." A small 300ml unit is made for a desk or a bedside, ~150 sq ft. In a large, open living room its mist disperses before it reaches the far wall. Big open rooms need a big-tank unit.
That is exactly why I made the Megh. It holds 6 litres, has an adjustable mist dial so you can set the output to the room, runs quietly at around 35 decibels, and can go for up to 100 hours on a fill. In a large living room it doubles as a humidifier for AC-dry or winter air while it scents - two jobs a small unit cannot manage across that much space.
Place it central and raised. Set the Megh on a low shelf or console roughly central to the room, near gentle airflow but away from the direct AC blast, so the mist rides the room's natural air current to every corner.
So the luxury living-room formula is simple: a gracious hotel-inspired scent - Warm Welcome, Quiet Luxury or Lobby Bar - carried by the 6-litre Megh on a moderate dial. Filtered water, SOSA water-based fragrance only, and your living room smells like a lobby you would not want to leave.

Versailles
I trained as a perfumer at ISIPCA in Versailles, but half the questions we get are not about scent at all - they are about the machine. Indian rooms are bone-dry from AC and winter, and most gadget diffusers are too small, too loud, or quit by midnight. So we made three: Boond (300ml, desk), Sukoon (500ml, bedroom, with a remote and mood light) and Megh (6L, whole-room), each shipping with three of our fragrances.
They are cool-mist ultrasonic diffusers - an ultrasonic plate turns water into a fine, cool mist with no heating element, so there is no boiling water or burn risk, and each has an auto shut-off when the tank runs dry.
One thing I say on every listing and will say here: use only SOSA's water-based Hotel Collection fragrance. Raw essential oils, perfumes and carrier oils are thick or solvent-heavy and can clog the misting plate and damage the unit. A few drops of our water-based fragrance in the tank mists cleanly and scents the whole room.
