✓ Alcohol-free oil on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier, applied to a point, never sprayed✓ No musk soliflore: white musk is a base note in Adaa, Ameeri and Nawaab✓ Made in India to IFRA standards · a portion of every purchase supports Nanhi Kali

"Your skin but better" is the most exact description of a fragrance anyone has come up with, and it is mostly a description of a format. The notes matter less than you think and the way the thing sits on you matters more.
Quick answers — read this first
Why is an oil closer to the skin than a spray? It is applied to a point and warmed by the skin, with no spray cloud and no alcohol in the carrier, so it stays near where you put it. SOSA Adaa at ₹379 is the lightest of the four.
Is there a skin-scent attar at SOSA? Nothing is named one. White musk is a base note in SOSA Adaa, SOSA Ameeri and SOSA Nawaab, and there is no musk soliflore, but SOSA Adaa is the lightest and the closest in spirit to the phrase.
Is "your skin but better" a promise? No. How any fragrance reads on a given person varies from person to person. It is a fair description of a distance and a format, and no promise about what you will smell like.
The short answer
Short answer: An oil on warm skin sits close by construction, which is most of the answer. SOSA Adaa is the lightest attar, with white musk in the base and no oudh.
The pick: One 3ml of SOSA Adaa at ₹379, one dab on one pulse point. SOSA Ameeri at ₹385 if you want a little more shape under it.
Next step: Tell us which skin scents you have worn and what you would change about them, and we will name one attar and one size. Ask for an attar recommendation.
The structural reasons an oil on warm skin behaves like a skin scent, before a single note is considered. The notes come second, and Adaa is the lightest of them, with the 3ml price beside it.
The lightest first, then the warmer and the deeper
I Like “Your Skin but Better” Perfumes — Which Attar Would Suit Me?
There is no musk soliflore in the SOSA range; white musk is a base note in Adaa, Ameeri and Nawaab, so here the format does more of the skin-scent work than the note does. The decision, in five steps.
1. Start with the format, not the note. An oil sits where you put it, warms with the skin and opens slowly, with no spray cloud around it. That is structurally what "your skin but better" describes, and it is why this range answers the search better than its note lists suggest.
2. Choose the lightest composition.SOSA Adaa at ₹379 is bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. No oudh. It is the lightest of the four, which keeps it nearest to a skin scent.
3. Keep the dose low. One dab on one pulse point is a whisper and two is a sentence. A skin scent is a one-dab scent, and the second dab is a decision to be heard rather than found.
4. Know what "better" means to you. If you want a little shape under it, SOSA Ameeri at ₹385 has amber and soft oudh beneath Taif rose. If you want depth, SOSA Nawaab at ₹399 is oud-led and a different search.
5. Judge it at hour three, on an ordinary day. From a 3ml, in the season you will wear it. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin and nothing beyond that; how it reads varies from person to person.
Nobody can promise you what anyone else will think of it, and I will not. What a fragrance can be is consistent, close and distinctive. What it does in someone else's head is theirs.
An oil on warm skin sits close by construction. SOSA Adaa at ₹379 is the lightest of the four, with white musk in the base and no oudh. One 3ml, one dab, judged at hour three.
The first purchase is one 3ml of SOSA Adaa at ₹379, the lightest of the four, with white musk, vetiver and cedarwood in the base and no oudh anywhere. If you want a little more shape under it, make it SOSA Ameeri at ₹385. Both are alcohol-free roll-on oils on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier, so the format does most of the close-to-skin work.
SOSA makes four attars and none is called a skin scent. All four are alcohol-free, DPG-free oils on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier, hand-blended in Pune, as roll-ons in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml, which is why the format argument applies to every one of them. The composition decides how much shape sits on top of it.
₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12ml. Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. No oudh, nothing dark and nothing heavy. Not a musk soliflore, but the one that takes up the least room.
₹385 for 3ml, ₹679 for 6ml, ₹1,165 for 12ml. Persian saffron, pink pepper and bergamot over Taif rose and Indian sandalwood, on soft oudh, amber and white musk. The amber and the oudh give it a body Adaa does not have. At one dab it still sits close; at two it begins to be heard.
₹399 for 3ml, ₹699 for 6ml, ₹1,199 for 12ml. White royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron and aged tobacco leaf on amber, leather and white musk. Included so the page is honest: the format is the same, but the composition is not skin-like. If skin scent is the brief, do not start here.
Each of these is a structural fact about the format, not a promise about the notes. Together they are most of what "your skin but better" means, and none of them depends on which attar you pick.

One
It sits where you put it, with no cloud around it
A spray puts fragrance into the air around you, and the first thing a spray does is announce itself to the room. An oil on a roll-on does not. It goes on at a single point, and what you smell is what rises from that point, which is why you find it when you lift your wrist rather than when you walk in. For someone who wants fragrance only they and the person beside them might catch, that difference is structural, not a matter of how many dabs. It is also why a skin-scent lover who has only worn sprays tends to over-apply in the first week.
Tip: Start at one dab, even if you are used to several sprays, and see what is left at hour three.
Adaa at ₹379 is the lightest of the four. One dab on one wrist is a small enough dose to find out how an oil sits on you, and a small enough bottle to be wrong about.
It is warmed by skin, so it opens slowly and stays near
An oil does not flash off the way a solvent does. It is warmed by the skin it is on and opens at the pace that warmth sets, rather than in a rush. That is a large part of why oil wearers describe the scent as moving with them. In warm weather it tends to open faster and carry a little further; in cooler weather it tends to sit closer. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin, which is a statement about the oil on skin, not about the room. How it reads varies from person to person, which is what "your skin" in the phrase is doing.
Tip: Judge it in the season you will wear it. A cool evening and a hot afternoon are two different tests.
Ameeri at ₹385 shows how much the composition changes when you put amber under the same format: the oil still sits close, but it has a shape.
The composition decides how much sits on top of the skin
Format gets you close. Composition decides what close smells like. In Adaa the base is white musk with vetiver and cedarwood, under bergamot, green cardamom and neroli and three white flowers, so it reads as light and bright. There is no musk soliflore in the range, and I would rather you knew that than expected one. What you get is a skin-close format carrying a composed fragrance. If you wanted the bare musk of a clean skin, the format will deliver the closeness but not the bareness.
Tip: Decide whether you want a skin scent or a skin scent with shape. Adaa is the first and Ameeri is the second.
Nawaab at ₹399 is the opposite pole: the same close format carrying the deepest composition in the range, oud-led, and not a skin scent on any reading.
"Your skin but better" is not a note and was never going to be one. It is a distance and a pace, and an oil on warm skin delivers both before the composition gets a say, which is why a lighter one feels nearer.
That turns the question from which attar smells most like skin into which attar you want to have sitting there, quietly, at hour three, once the top has gone and the base is all that remains.
The lightest, and the nearest to a skin scent: Adaa at ₹379 has bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, with white musk, vetiver and cedarwood beneath. No oudh, nothing dark, and no amber or vanilla. If the format is doing most of the work, this is the composition that gets out of its way.
The week below tests the format, not the notes. Pick one attar, keep one dose, and change only where you apply it and what the day is. By the end you will know whether it was the closeness you liked or the composition.
The SOSA plan
A first week of wearing one 3ml close to the skin, day by day
The day, and what you are testing
The dose, and what to write down
Day one, a desk day, one dab on one wrist
Say nothing about it and wait until hour three. The question is whether you can find it yourself when you lift your wrist, and whether anyone else would need to lean in. View →
Day two, the same dab, somewhere warmer or outdoors
Same dose, warmer air. Note whether it opened faster and carried further, which an oil often does in heat. That is the format behaving, not the composition changing.
Day three, the same dab at the base of the throat
Move the dab nearer the nose and keep the dose. Note how much closer it feels with no extra product. Placement is a dose control too. View →
Day four and five, a second dab and an honest verdict
Two dabs on two days. Decide whether the closeness is what you liked or the shape under it. If it was shape you wanted, that is the reason to try the warmer attar next.
If you want your skin with a little more shape: Ameeri at ₹385 adds Taif rose and Indian sandalwood over soft oudh, amber and white musk. The same close format, with a warmer body under it and a little oud rather than none. Still a base note of white musk, still not a soliflore.
"Your skin but better" is a distance and a pace before it is a note. An oil on warm skin supplies both, and the composition only decides what sits on top.

The warmer and deeper steps from Adaa
What to try after Adaa, once you know how much shape you want under the closeness
Two rows and two 3ml bottles: the lightest for the closest-to-skin reading and the warmer one for skin with shape. The note under the table says what neither of them is, which is worth reading before you order.
The SOSA specification for skin scents
Start with the lightest, add shape only if you want it
Both rows are 3ml. The 6ml and 12ml of the same composition are the right purchase after a full season, not instead of it: ₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12ml for Adaa and ₹385 for 3ml, ₹679 for 6ml, ₹1,165 for 12ml for Ameeri. Neither is a musk soliflore, because the range has none, and neither is a bare skin scent: both are composed fragrances in a close-to-skin format. SOSA Nawaab at ₹399 is the deepest and a different search, and SOSA Mastani at ₹389 is a deep floral-gourmand with no white musk. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin and nothing further; how far a fragrance carries depends on skin, dose, clothing and the weather, and varies from person to person. A patch test on first use is the only skin advice we give. Nobody can promise you what anyone else will think of it, and I will not. Ours is a contact page and a person who replies: Ask for an attar recommendation and describe the skin scents you have worn.

A note from Sonal
People tell me they want their own skin, but better, and for a long time I answered with a note list. It was the wrong answer. A note list tells you what is in the bottle, and what these readers are describing is where the bottle sits: how near, how fast, how quietly. That is a property of the format before it is a property of any note, and I should have started there.
Wearing an oil is a different act from spraying a perfume. You touch it to one place and you leave. I did not design the range as a skin-scent range, and there is no musk soliflore in it, and I will not pretend otherwise. But the format has the property people are asking for, and Adaa is light enough not to get in its way. That is a real argument and a limited one, and I would rather make the limited one honestly.
So the advice is the usual small one: one 3ml, one dab, three ordinary days, judged at hour three in the season you will wear it. Nobody can promise you what anyone else will think of how you smell, so there is nothing riding on this beyond your own preference, which was always the only part that was yours. A portion of every purchase supports Nanhi Kali.
Frequently asked questions
Is a perfume oil really closer to the skin than a spray?
As a format, yes. An oil is applied to a point and warmed by the skin, with no spray cloud, and SOSA Adaa, SOSA Ameeri, SOSA Mastani and SOSA Nawaab are all alcohol-free. That makes them nearer by construction, though how any fragrance reads varies from person to person and from day to day.
Is there a skin-scent or musk attar in the range?
Not by name. There is no musk soliflore: white musk is a base note in SOSA Adaa, SOSA Ameeri and SOSA Nawaab, and SOSA Mastani carries none. SOSA Adaa at ₹379 is the lightest of the four and the closest in spirit to what the phrase describes, though it is a composition and not a bare skin scent.
Will it smell different on me than on someone else?
It can, and that is part of what the phrase means. How a fragrance reads depends on skin, dose, clothing, climate and the day, and varies from person to person. A 3ml, three ordinary days and a judgement at hour three is the fair way to find out how it reads on you.
How many dabs is right for a skin scent?
One, on one pulse point. One dab is a whisper and two is a sentence, and a skin scent is meant to be the whisper. If you cannot find it yourself at hour three, add a second dab tomorrow rather than a third today, and see how that reads before you change anything else.
Is oil too heavy for hot Indian weather?
Not by nature, because the dose is yours to control. In heat an oil tends to open faster and carry a little further, so one dab is the sensible start, and SOSA Adaa is the lightest of the four. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin and nothing beyond that, and it varies from person to person.
If you want to compare shapes in one purchase: The Attar Trio from ₹1,055 is Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani. Adaa is not in it. It is useful for seeing how much shape you like, not for finding the nearest to skin, which is why it is the third purchase and not the first.
SOSA — A Skin-Scent Startone 3ml of Adaa, one dab, and judge how close it sits at hour three
SOSA Adaa at ₹379 is the lightest of the four, with white musk, vetiver and cedarwood in the base and no oudh; SOSA Ameeri at ₹385 adds amber under the same format. There is no musk soliflore in the range, so the closeness comes from the oil first and the composition second. Alcohol-free, hand-blended in Pune. A portion of every purchase supports Nanhi Kali.
