Which question matters most? Doors. A house that lives with bedrooms and studies shut is several volumes rather than one, and no machine crosses a closed door, so a source per room is the right answer there.
Why does it matter who else lives there? Because a fragrance layer is shared by everybody including guests and household staff, and anybody who cannot leave a room should be able to switch it off physically without asking permission.
Answer five questions and the product is decided
This is a checklist rather than an argument, and it is arranged so that the answers point at a product rather than at a preference. Question one is about doors, and it is first because it is the one that most often makes a purchase wrong. The question is not how open your floor plan looks but how the house actually lives from day to day. In most Indian homes, including most large ones, bedrooms are closed for privacy and for air conditioning, studies are closed for calls, and guest rooms are closed for months at a time. Every one of those closed doors is a hard boundary. A machine distributes fragrance through moving air and cannot cross it, so a house that lives shut is not one volume with a large coverage figure available, it is a connected core plus a set of sealed rooms. If that describes your house, the right purchase is a source in each room rather than a bigger machine, and eight or nine reed diffusers will outperform any single device. This is the answer we give most often, and it is a smaller sale. Question two is about how much of the house is genuinely joined. If the living area, dining hall, passage and stairwell are open to one another, that is one substantial volume and a single machine covering up to a thousand square metres is doing the work of six or eight separate sources, which is a real efficiency and the clearest case for buying one. If the connected core is modest - one or two rooms - then a smaller unit is the honest fit, and a compact home is genuinely better served by reeds regardless of what the property cost, because a machine serves cubic metres rather than addresses. Question three is frequency. A machine justifies itself through daily repetition, where two short cycles a day compound into a household characteristic and the cost per day becomes trivial. If the actual requirement is a handful of dinner parties a year, the honest recommendation is permanent reeds in the entrance and bathrooms plus a smaller ultrasonic unit brought out for the occasion, and the difference left unspent. Question four is about consent, and it gets left out of every buying guide we have read. A fragrance layer is shared by everybody in the building: family, parents, children, guests staying over, and anybody who works in the home. Not everybody experiences a register the same way, and the person most likely to find it too much is often the person with the least standing to say so. That produces a hard requirement rather than a nicety: there must be a physical way to stop it that anybody can use without asking permission - a socket switch, a lid, a bottle that can be moved to another room. An app-only control puts the off switch in one person's pocket, which is the wrong arrangement for a shared layer. Related: guest rooms get the quietest register in the house from a source the guest can move or cap, and children's rooms get no fragrance at all. Question five is maintenance, answered honestly. If there is a reliable routine in the household, a tank machine is a fine choice and the Megh at Rs 3,499 with its 6L tank does excellent work. If the honest answer is that nobody is going to reliably refill and rinse anything, then choose waterless equipment and reeds, because a tank is a recurring obligation and it is the item that quietly stops being done, taking the whole routine with it. Two final notes that sit outside the checklist but change the answer more than any of it. First, if the reason you are shopping is a specific smell rather than a preference, stop: cooking smell is extraction used every time with the kitchen door shut, a musty bathroom is almost always a dried drain trap that needs a mug of water, and a damp cupboard is a drying and cleaning job. Fragrance over any of those is worse than nothing. Second, if the room you are trying to scent is a covered terrace, balcony or verandah, no product on this list will work, because covered outdoor space cannot hold fragrance.
The five answers, mapped
The five answers, mapped to products. Doors usually shut, or a compact connected core, or an occasional requirement, or nobody to maintain a tank: reed diffusers, one per room, three to four months each with nothing to do in between - Morning Freshness at Rs 749, Garden Bloom at Rs 799, Evening Calm at Rs 799, Fresh Brew at Rs 849, Mountain Breeze at Rs 849, refills at Rs 2,399 for 300ml and Rs 3,499 for 500ml. Genuinely open plan, daily use, and a household that hosts: the SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 - waterless with no tank to fill or empty, coverage up to 1,000 m², Bluetooth app and timer control - as two short cycles a day plus a hosting profile that reverts. Modest connected core, or a second point of release in a long plan, or an occasional unit brought out for evenings: the SOSA Megh at Rs 3,499 with a 6L tank, or the SOSA Sukoon at Rs 1,799 for a single room. Entrance: the SOSA Boond at Rs 799 or a reed, running continuously. Fragrances for the machines: Hotel Collection at Rs 299 for 15ml, Rs 999 for 100ml and Rs 1,799 for 300ml, at three to six drops per tank, rinsing between scents. Reed oil and Hotel Collection are two different systems, are not interchangeable, and reed oil can damage a diffuser. Non-negotiables regardless of answers: a physical off switch anybody in the house can use without asking, the quietest register in guest rooms from a source the guest can move or cap, no fragrance at all in children's rooms, nothing in the kitchen at any time or the dining area during a meal, and nothing on covered terraces, balconies or verandahs, which cannot hold fragrance. If the reason for shopping is a specific smell, fix the cause first: extraction with the kitchen door shut, a mug of water down unused drain traps, or drying and cleaning a damp cupboard. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards.

Versailles
Most customer gifts are bought to be handed over, not to be kept: the sweet box is finished by the family that evening, the keychain joins a drawer, the branded pen was never really a gift at all. Then the moment that cost your business lakhs to create - the new car, the new home, the big purchase - is remembered with nothing. A fragrance gift keeps that moment alive, because scent is the sense wired closest to memory: months later, your customer is still in the middle of the experience you gave them.
I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and everything we make is built for Indian lives - car diffusers that survive a Mumbai summer, reed diffusers that hold through the monsoon, alcohol-free formulas safe to gift across every customer profile. If you run a dealership, a project, a hotel, a showroom or a team, message the bulk desk on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 - tell me the customer moment and the volumes, and I will help you design the programme myself. The business conversations are my favourite kind: one good gifting programme teaches me more about a category than a year of retail orders.
And a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali - so your customer gift quietly gives twice. That equation has always felt right to me.
Frequently asked questions
Facts verified August 2026: Olfactory memory research shows scent-linked memories are unusually durable and emotionally vivid, which is why a used-daily fragrance gift sustains brand association in a way consumable or novelty gifts do not; customer-experience research consistently finds that peak moments (delivery, possession, checkout) disproportionately shape how the whole purchase is remembered. Fragrance preference is personal: volume gifting programmes should default to gentle fresh, green and lightly floral registers, and to space formats (diffusers, reeds, car fragrance) rather than skin perfume. SOSA range: Hotel Collection ultrasonic fragrance from Rs 299; car perfumes from Rs 449 (spray and hanging, alcohol-free); attars Nawaab, Ameeri, Mastani and Adaa from Rs 379 (3ml/6ml/12ml, alcohol-free); Attar Trio from Rs 1,055; perfumes from Rs 499; reed diffusers from Rs 749; Boond Rs 799, Sukoon Rs 1,799 and Megh Rs 3,499 ultrasonic diffusers; SOSA Safar waterless car and travel diffuser Rs 3,999 (rechargeable, three hotel-inspired scents included); SOSA Vaayu waterless scent machine Rs 11,999 (~1000m³, app + timer).
