✓ Adjustable intensity and timers, so a Delhi store can move a level between May and January without ever changing the fragrance itself✓ Waterless, which matters in a monsoon month and does no harm in a dry May - one machine that suits all three of Delhi's seasons✓ Made in India · independent, not affiliated with any hotel or mall · a portion funds girl-child education

Delhi does not give a shop one room. It gives it three: a hard-chilled, dust-carrying May; a damp, dripping August; and a still, mild January with the door propped open. The mistake is to answer that by changing the fragrance. The register should be the one thing that never moves.
Quick answers — read this first
How should a Delhi footwear store approach scenting across the seasons? Fix the register once and treat everything else as seasonal. Your fragrance is a brand asset and changing it three times a year means you never had a signature to begin with. What genuinely changes is the room around it. In summer the air conditioning runs hard, the air is dry and dust arrives with every door opening. In monsoon the entrance is wet, matting and boxes hold moisture, and the stockroom needs watching. In winter the air is still, the doors are often propped open and the plant may barely run at all. Adjust intensity, run hours and cleaning frequency to suit. Leave the fragrance alone.
Should the intensity setting change between summer and winter in Delhi? Usually yes, by a small step, and deliberately rather than reactively. Hard summer cooling means dry, fast-moving air that distributes a fragrance widely and can make the same setting read thin. A still January with the plant throttled back and the door propped open behaves quite differently, and the same setting can read heavier than you intended. Two reviews a year is a sensible rhythm - one as the summer load begins and one after the monsoon - each judged at six on a Saturday with the floor full, and each checked with the staff who breathe it all day.
Does a Delhi store need to worry about dust as well as temperature? Yes, and more than most retailers plan for. Dry summer wind and street dust arrive with every door opening, settle on stock, shelving and glass, and collect on anything you are diffusing from. Dust along the exposed length of a reed slows the capillary lift and dulls the throw, and turning a dusty reed does not restore it. A machine near a frontage collects dust on the casing and around the outlet. Put both on a named line in the cleaning rota rather than assuming somebody will notice, and expect a shorter reed cycle than a sealed mall unit would need.
The short answer
Short answer: Keep one register all year and change only the settings around it. Summer means hard cooling, dry air and dust, so expect faster depletion and a thinner reading. Monsoon means damp entrances, wet matting and a stockroom that needs watching, and it rules out a water-based unit. Winter means still air and propped doors, where the same setting can read heavier. Review twice a year, on a full Saturday floor.
The pick: From about 1,500 sq ft of connected floor, one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) - adjustable intensity is exactly what a three-season city asks for. Below that, a Mountain Breeze reed (₹849), where the reed count is your seasonal control.
Next step: Tell us your floor area, whether the store is a mall unit or street-facing, and how the door behaves in January - ask for a store scenting plan.
Delhi is the clearest argument in this cluster for adjustable intensity. The same room genuinely behaves three different ways, and a fixed-output product can only be right in one of them.
What should actually change in a Delhi footwear store between May, August and January?
Three things change, and the fragrance is not one of them. Start with what stays fixed, because that is the whole argument: your register. If a store smells of dry woods in May, damp florals in August and something warm in January, it has three moods and no signature, and customers who visit twice a year will never form a stable impression of it. Choose the register from the stock and the interior - dry pine, sage and cedar under leather and dark wood; lemon, peppermint and eucalyptus on a bright sneaker floor - and then leave it alone for years. Now the seasonal half. Through a Delhi summer the plant works hard. Supply air is cold and dry, the unit turns over quickly, and a fragrance distributes widely but reads thinner than it did; passive products deplete faster in dry moving air, and a reed under a supply grille can empty in a fraction of its normal life. Dust arrives with every door opening and settles on stock, on glass and along the exposed length of a reed, where it dulls the lift. This is the season for a shorter reed cycle, a named dust line in the cleaning rota, and possibly one small step up in intensity - judged on a full floor, not on a quiet Tuesday morning. Through the monsoon the store gets wet at the entrance: dripping matting, wet hems, damp umbrellas, and boxes and carpet that begin to hold moisture. The scenting consequence is narrow but firm - a water-based ultrasonic unit is the wrong machine in a damp month - and the real work is storage, matting changed while it is still wet, and a stockroom that is watched rather than ignored. Through a Delhi winter the plant may barely run at all, doors are often propped open in mild weather, and the air inside goes still. Still air means a fragrance forms a gradient again rather than travelling, so the source's placement matters more than it did in May, and a level chosen for a hard-chilled summer can read heavier than you meant. Step it back rather than accepting it. If any part of the store is warmed by a heater, keep the source away from it, because a warm draught reads as a stronger fragrance to anyone standing in it. Two deliberate reviews a year beat twelve reactive ones. And the frame stays the same all year: this is a brand and interior decision, and we make no claim that it affects sales, footfall, browsing time or what anybody buys. Ask for a store scenting plan and tell us how your door behaves in January.
Fix the register for years. Move the intensity, the run hours and the cleaning rota with the season, twice a year, judged on a full floor.
A three-season city is the clearest case for adjustable intensity. The SOSA Vaayu pairs it with 1h/4h/8h/24h timers and a key-lock, so a level moves when you decide it should and at no other time. Waterless, under 38dB, 5W. ₹11,999.
Seasons do not change the size of machine a store needs. A 500 sq ft Delhi unit wants a reed or one Sukoon in the drier half of the year, whatever May is doing to the air, and a commercial nebuliser at that size would be over-specified. Between 300 and 750 sq ft, reeds by zone. The Vaayu belongs from roughly 1,500 sq ft of connected floor, where adjustable intensity earns its keep.
Adjustable intensity is the specification a Delhi store is really buying, because the right level in a hard-chilled May and a still January are genuinely different numbers. Timers align the run window with trading hours that shift across the year. Waterless, so a monsoon month adds no argument against it. Rated to 1000m³, under 38dB, 5W - roughly 1.5 units of electricity a month on a ten-hour day.
Himalayan pine, sage and cedar. On a small floor the reed count is your seasonal control: fewer reeds in a still winter, more in a dry moving-air summer, and a shorter replacement cycle in the dusty months because dust on the exposed length dulls the lift. Passive, silent, nothing to schedule. From ₹849.
Malabar lemon, peppermint and eucalyptus - the cool counterweight to rubber on a sneaker floor, and a register that holds its character across a dry summer and a damp August alike. Chosen for the stock and the interior, never for the weather. From ₹749.
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft), 400ml tank lasting up to 75 days, Bluetooth app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mount, auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS certified. Made in India.
The three Delhi seasons, and precisely what each one asks you to change.

Summer
Hard cooling, dry air and dust arriving at the door
From roughly April the plant runs at load. Supply air is cold and dry, the unit turns over quickly, and that has two effects worth planning for. Fragrance distributes further than it does in still air, which is useful, and passive products deplete faster, which is not - evaporation rises with air movement and falls with humidity, so a reed in a dry conditioned unit empties sooner than the same reed in August. A reed placed under or beside a supply grille empties fastest of all. The second summer problem is dust: dry wind and street dust arrive with every door opening and settle along the exposed length of a reed, slowing the capillary lift and dulling the throw. Turning a dusty reed does not restore it. This is the season for a shorter reed cycle, a named dust line on the cleaning rota, sources kept out of the direct supply stream, and at most one small step up in intensity.
Tip: write the reed count and the date on the shelf edge in April. By July you will know what your real cycle is.
Adjustable intensity is what lets a summer correction be one deliberate step - the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999.
A wet entrance, damp matting and a stockroom worth watching
Delhi's wet weeks are shorter than a coastal city's but they do the same thing to the same materials. Water arrives at the door on umbrellas, hems and shoes, matting stays wet longer than anyone intends, and corrugated board and trying-area carpet begin to hold moisture. The work is storage and cleaning: stock off the floor and clear of external walls, boxes closed and rotating, matting changed while it is still wet rather than at closing, and a raised cleaning frequency on carpet and seating for the season. The scenting consequence is narrow and firm - a water-based ultrasonic unit is the wrong choice in a damp month, because its method is to add moisture to a room that is already carrying it. Passive reeds or a waterless machine, and expect slower evaporation from a reed, so a bottle lasts a little longer and reads a little quieter than it did in May.
Tip: put matting changes on the same rota line as bin emptying. A wet mat left down all afternoon is a source in its own right.
Passive reeds add nothing to a damp room but scent - Mountain Breeze from ₹849.
Still air, propped doors and a level that suddenly reads heavier
In a mild Delhi January the plant may hardly run, doors are often propped open for the pleasant hours, and the air indoors goes still. Still air behaves the way a sealed high-street shop does: a fragrance forms a gradient around its source rather than travelling, so the far end of the floor can go quiet while the area near the source reads stronger than you intended. Two things follow. Placement matters more than it did in summer - the source belongs where customers actually stand rather than wherever the plant used to carry it - and the level usually wants a small step back, because the intensity that read thin in a hard-chilled May will read heavy in a still January. If any part of the store is warmed by a heater, keep the source well away from it; a warm draught reads as a stronger fragrance to whoever is standing in it. Make the change deliberately, once, and judge it at six on a Saturday with the floor full.
Tip: check the back of the shop in January, not the front. Still air is why a back wall goes quiet, and that is a placement finding rather than an output one.
Morning Freshness - lemon, peppermint and eucalyptus - stays the same register whatever the season does. From ₹749.
A Delhi store is three rooms wearing the same address: a dry chilled May, a wet August and a still January. One fragrance has to be right in all three.
That is an argument for adjustable intensity and a written seasonal note, and never an argument for a second fragrance.
For a room that changes three times a year: SOSA Vaayu - adjustable intensity, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, key-lock, waterless, 5W. ₹11,999.
The Delhi year in one table, with the register held fixed all the way down the column.
The SOSA plan
The same store, three times a year
The season
What changes, and what does not
Summer, roughly April to June
Dry moving air distributes well and depletes reeds fast. Shorter reed cycle, sources out of the supply stream, dust named on the rota, at most one step up.
Monsoon
Wet matting, damp board and carpet. Storage and cleaning first; no water-based unit in a damp month; slower evaporation from reeds.
Winter
Still air and propped doors. Placement matters more, the level usually steps back, and sources stay well away from any heater.
All year
The register. It is the brand asset and it should not move with the weather, the mood or the month.
On a small floor, the reed count is the dial: Mountain Breeze - fewer reeds in a still winter, more in a dry summer, and a shorter cycle in the dust. From ₹849.
A store that changes its fragrance with the season does not have a seasonal signature. It has three moods and no memory, and customers who visit twice a year will never learn what it smells of.

What moves and what does not
Level, hours and cleaning move with the season. The register never does
Sized by floor area exactly as it would be in any city, then set differently three times a year. Passive on a small floor where the reed count is the control, waterless and adjustable on a large one. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Seasonal settings are a reason to buy something adjustable and not a reason to buy something larger than the floor needs. Anything involving supply grilles, extraction, heating or dehumidification is a matter for the mall's facilities team or a ventilation engineer - we describe the principle and hand the specification to them. A water-based ultrasonic unit is the wrong choice in a damp month. Fragrance is a brand and interior decision and we make no claim about sales, footfall, browsing time or purchase decisions, and no claim that any product removes or neutralises an odour. Ask for a store scenting plan with your floor area and season notes.

A note from Sonal
Delhi retailers ask me this in one of two months. Either it is May and the store reads thin, or it is January and the same setting suddenly feels like too much. Both calls are the same call. Nothing is wrong with the fragrance; the room has changed around it. Once an owner sees that, they stop reaching for a new scent and start keeping a short note of what they changed and when.
What I ask for is two reviews a year rather than twelve. One as the summer load begins, one after the monsoon, each judged at six on a Saturday with the floor full, each a single small step, and each checked with the people on the floor. On a large floor the Vaayu at ₹11,999 makes that a two-minute job. On a small one, a reed at ₹849 does it by the count of reeds.
The limits, plainly. This is an ambience and interior decision, and we make no claim that it increases sales, footfall or browsing time, and nothing about health, therapy or medicine. It never masks a smell that has a source, and works alongside ventilation, stock rotation and cleaning rather than instead of them. Staff breathe it for nine hours in every season, so if they say it is too much, it is too much. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Frequently asked questions
Should a Delhi store change its fragrance with the season?
No. The register is a brand asset and changing it three times a year means the store has no signature at all. What should change is the setting around it: intensity, run hours and cleaning frequency. Choose the register from your stock and interior, then hold it for years, and make two deliberate reviews of the level each year rather than reacting on any single uncomfortable afternoon.
Why does the same setting read thin in May and heavy in January?
Because the air is doing something different. In summer the plant runs at load, so cold dry moving air distributes the fragrance widely and depletes passive products faster, which reads as thinner. In a mild January the plant may barely run, the air goes still, and a fragrance forms a gradient around its source instead of travelling, which reads as heavier near the source and quieter at the back of the shop.
How often should the intensity be adjusted?
Twice a year is a sensible rhythm - once as the summer load begins and once after the monsoon. Make one small step at a time, judge it at six on a Saturday with the floor full rather than on a quiet morning, and check it with the staff who breathe it all day. Reactive changes made on a single bad afternoon are almost always too large and tend to creep upward over a season.
Does Delhi dust affect a reed diffuser or a machine?
Yes, in maintenance terms. Dust collects along the exposed length of a reed, slows the capillary lift and dulls the throw, and turning a dusty reed does not restore it, so reeds want replacing on a shorter cycle through the dry windy months. A machine near a frontage collects dust on the casing and around the outlet and belongs on the weekly wipe-down list as a named item.
Can I use an ultrasonic diffuser in Delhi?
In the dry months it is a reasonable choice and the small amount of humidity it adds is a fair trade in hard-chilled air. In the wet weeks it is the wrong machine, because it adds moisture to a room already carrying it near cardboard, carpet and leather. If you want one product for the whole year, choose passive reeds on a small floor or a waterless machine such as the SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 on a large one.
The register that does not move: Morning Freshness - Malabar lemon, peppermint and eucalyptus - the same in May, August and January. From ₹749.
