Founder Diaries · Reed Diffusers · Citrus & Orange Blossom
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 9 min read Updated August 2026 · 2027 edition
SOSA does not make an orange blossom reed diffuser. There is no neroli in the range, no orange blossom absolute, no bergamot-led reed and no bitter orange of any kind, and I would rather open with that than let you read six paragraphs before finding out. What I can give you is the thing almost nobody selling orange blossom will: one tree produces four completely different perfumery materials, and all four are sold under the same two words. Two of them are not floral at all. Working out which one you actually want is worth more than any purchase on this page.
Quick answers — read this first
The honest gap, first: there is no orange blossom, neroli or bergamot reed diffuser at SOSA. If that exact smell is what you came for, no bottle in this range is it.

If you want the warm, honeyed white-floral side of orange blossom: Garden Bloom — British rose and real night-blooming jasmine (sambac), ₹799 for 50ml, 8.9 on the SOSA strength scale.

If you want the bright green citrus side: Morning Freshness — cold-pressed Malabar lemon, peppermint, eucalyptus. ₹749.

If what you want is specifically bergamot: the Ritz-Carlton-inspired Hotel Collection scent at ₹299 is the only bergamot in the house — but it is water-based and needs an ultrasonic machine, so it cannot go into reeds.
The short answer
Short answer: SOSA has no orange blossom reed diffuser and no plans to fake one. The nearest honest answer depends on which orange blossom you mean — Garden Bloom at ₹799 for the warm indolic white-floral register, Morning Freshness at ₹749 for the bright citrus one, and Evening Calm at ₹799 if what you actually want is soft and honeyed rather than floral.
The four materials: neroli is steam-distilled from the bitter orange flower — bright, green, faintly metallic, and one of the most expensive florals in perfumery. Orange blossom absolute is solvent-extracted from the same flower — heavier, honeyed, indolic, warmer. Petitgrain is distilled from the leaves and twigs — green, woody, bitter, not floral at all. Orange flower water is the aqueous by-product, and the one most people know from a kitchen rather than a shop.
Shop: reeds are ₹749–₹849 for 50ml and ₹1,249–₹1,349 for 130ml, six fibre reeds in a refillable glass bottle, 6–8 weeks and 14–18 weeks respectively. On the ultrasonic side, Hotel Collection scents are ₹299 for 15ml, ₹999 for 100ml and ₹1,799 for 300ml, with machines at Boond ₹899 or Sukoon ₹1,899. Free shipping above ₹499.
Straight answer
What is the best orange blossom reed diffuser in 2027, and does SOSA make one?
1. SOSA does not make one, and that is the first thing you should know. The reed line is five scents and none of them contains neroli, orange blossom absolute, petitgrain or bergamot. I will not stretch a floral over the gap and let you discover it when the bottle arrives.

2. Decide which orange blossom you mean before you buy anything, from anyone. The bitter orange tree gives perfumery four materials that smell almost nothing like each other. Two are florals, one is a green woody leaf oil, and one is a food ingredient. Buying blind here is how people end up disappointed by a product that was perfectly good.

3. If you want the warm, honeyed, slightly animalic side — that is orange blossom absolute — buy Garden Bloom at ₹799. Its night-blooming jasmine is a real sambac and it carries the same indolic warmth. It is not orange blossom. It is the same register.

4. If you want the bright green citrus-floral side, that is Morning Freshness at ₹749 — real cold-pressed Malabar lemon on a eucalyptus base, the only genuine citrus in the reed line, 9.0 on our strength scale. For bergamot specifically, the Ritz-Carlton-inspired Hotel Collection scent at ₹299 is the only one in the house, and it is water-based and ultrasonic-only.

5. If you want soft, honeyed and calm rather than floral at all, Evening Calm at ₹799 is the quietest thing we make at 8.9, with real chamomile giving it a honeyed edge that surprises people who came looking for a flower.

All five reeds are alcohol-free, phthalate-free and made in Pune. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
TL;DR: there is no orange blossom reed diffuser at SOSA. Orange blossom is four different materials from one tree — neroli, absolute, petitgrain and orange flower water — and most people asking for it want either the warm side (Garden Bloom ₹799) or the bright side (Morning Freshness ₹749). Neither is orange blossom, and I am not going to pretend otherwise.
SOSA Garden Bloom rose and night-blooming jasmine reed diffuser
The nearest register, not the same flower
Garden Bloom · rose + night-blooming jasmine ₹799 / 50ml
British garden rose with real night-blooming jasmine — sambac, the mogra you smell on a Pune street in June — over a soft musk drydown. It is the closest thing in the range to the honeyed warmth of orange blossom absolute, because both draw on the same indolic white-floral family. 8.9 on the SOSA strength scale, a medium floral rather than a loud one. 45 days to two months on the 50ml, 14–18 weeks on the 130ml at ₹1,299.

One tree, four materials — and why they smell nothing like each other

The bitter orange, Citrus aurantium, is not much use as fruit. It is far too sour to eat and it exists in cultivation almost entirely because of what perfumery and food take from it. What they take is remarkable: the flower gives two different materials depending on how you extract it, the leaves and twigs give a third, and the water left behind after distillation gives a fourth. All four are routinely sold as "orange blossom", and only two of them are floral. This is not marketing dishonesty so much as linguistic laziness, but the effect on a buyer is the same. Here are the three that matter most in a fragrance.

1
MATERIAL ONE · FROM THE FLOWER, BY STEAM
Neroli — bright, green, faintly metallic
Morning Freshness reed diffuserNearest: Morning Freshness₹749Steam-distilled from hand-picked bitter orange blossom, and named after a seventeenth-century Italian princess of Nerola who wore it on her gloves. Distillation is brutal on delicate flowers: heat strips out the heaviest molecules and what survives is the light end. So neroli is not a rich floral at all — it is bright, green, slightly soapy, with a cool metallic edge and a bitter-citrus lift that reads more like a peeled stalk than a petal. It takes something on the order of a tonne of blossom to yield a kilo of oil, which places it among the most expensive florals in the perfumer's cabinet.
You mean neroli if: the orange blossom you remember was clean and cologne-like rather than sweet — closer to a good eau de cologne than to a garland.
2
MATERIAL TWO · FROM THE SAME FLOWER, BY SOLVENT
Orange blossom absolute — heavy, honeyed, indolic
Garden Bloom reed diffuserNearest: Garden Bloom₹799The same flower, extracted cold with solvent instead of steam, which keeps the heavy molecules that distillation destroys. The result is a different object entirely: warm, honeyed, faintly animalic, with the indole and methyl anthranilate that give white flowers their body. If someone tells you orange blossom is sensual, sweet or narcotic, this is the material they have smelled. It is thick, dark and stubbornly coloured, which incidentally makes it awkward in a clear reed diffuser — absolutes stain both the oil and the reeds. When people come to us asking for orange blossom, this is what four out of five of them are describing.
You mean the absolute if: the words that come to mind are warm, sweet and heady rather than clean and green.
3
MATERIAL THREE · FROM THE LEAVES AND TWIGS
Petitgrain — green, woody, bitter, not floral
Mountain Breeze reed diffuserNearest register: Mountain Breeze₹849The name means "little grains", from the era when the oil was distilled from the unripe fruitlets rather than the foliage. Today it comes from leaves and twigs, and it is the cheap material of the three because leaves are abundant in a way that hand-picked blossom is not. It smells green, dry, woody and distinctly bitter — the smell of snapping a citrus leaf, with no sweetness anywhere in it. People who love petitgrain and people who love orange blossom absolute are, in practice, two different sets of people who happen to use the same phrase in a shop. Nothing in the SOSA reed line is petitgrain; if it is the dry green bitterness you are after, Mountain Breeze is the nearest register we have, and it gets there through pine and sage rather than citrus leaf.
You mean petitgrain if: what you liked was bracing and bitter, and the word "floral" makes you hesitate.

The fourth one — and the economics almost nobody puts in writing

The fourth material is orange flower water, the aqueous fraction left behind when neroli is distilled. For a long time it was treated as waste; it is now a product in its own right, and it is the version of orange blossom most people have actually met, because it lives in kitchens rather than in perfumery. Anyone who has eaten Middle Eastern or French pastry has tasted it, and in Indian kitchens it sits on the shelf beside rose water and kewra doing much the same job. It is soft, sweetish, watery and faint — a long way from either flower material. It matters here for one reason: if your memory of orange blossom comes from food, you are remembering the weakest and most diffuse of the four, and a fragrance built on the absolute will strike you as far heavier than you expected.

Now the part that changes how you read every product page you are about to look at. Neroli and orange blossom absolute are among the most expensive floral materials in perfumery — in the same bracket as jasmine and rose absolutes, because they share the same fundamental problem of needing an enormous quantity of hand-picked flowers, harvested in a short season, to make a very small quantity of oil. A reed diffuser retailing in India at three or four hundred rupees cannot contain a meaningful dose of either. Nor can one at fifteen hundred. The arithmetic simply does not work, and no amount of copywriting changes it.

So what is in those bottles is a reconstruction: an accord built from cheaper white-floral and citrus materials — linalool, methyl anthranilate, hedione, a synthetic indole, an orange or bergamot top — assembled to read as orange blossom to a nose that is not looking closely. I want to be careful here, because this is not a scandal and I am not accusing anyone. Reconstruction is legitimate, skilled work; a good one is a genuine feat of composition, and the entire modern fragrance industry rests on it. But it does mean something practical for you: when you compare SOSA against an orange blossom diffuser and conclude that we do not have one, you are usually comparing us against something that does not have one either. The difference is that they have printed the words on the label and we have not.

The four things called orange blossom, side by side

One tree, four materials, four prices and four completely different smells — plus the fifth thing, which is what is generally in the bottle when you buy "orange blossom" home fragrance in India. The last column is the nearest honest answer in the SOSA range, and in every row the word nearest is doing real work. None of these products is orange blossom.

The material table
Four materials from one bitter orange tree — and the fifth thing sold as them
Material How it is made What it smells like What it costs the industry Nearest SOSA answer
Neroli Steam-distilled from the flower Bright, green, soapy, faintly metallic, bitter-citrus lift Very high — roughly a tonne of hand-picked blossom per kilo of oil Morning Freshness ₹749 — bright citrus, not floral
Orange blossom absolute Solvent-extracted from the same flower, cold Heavy, honeyed, indolic, warm, faintly animalic High — same flower, better yield, but used at a higher dose Garden Bloom ₹799 — real sambac jasmine, same indolic warmth
Petitgrain Distilled from leaves and twigs Green, dry, woody, bitter — no floral character at all Low — leaves are abundant, the flower is not Mountain Breeze ₹849 — dry green, but pine and sage, not citrus leaf
Orange flower water The water fraction left after distilling neroli Soft, sweetish, watery, faint — the one you know from food Negligible — historically treated as a by-product Evening Calm ₹799 — soft and honeyed via chamomile, at 8.9
The fifth thing: an "orange blossom" reconstruction Composed from cheaper white-floral and citrus aroma materials Recognisably orange-blossom-shaped, sweeter and simpler than either flower material Low — which is why almost every orange blossom home fragrance in India is one None. SOSA does not sell a reconstruction under a natural's name
Shop this guide
The three directions, and none of them is orange blossom
The SOSA principle
The most useful thing a fragrance page can do is establish which smell you are actually asking for before it tries to sell you one.
Because "orange blossom" describes four materials with four different characters, and the odds that you and the person selling to you mean the same one are no better than even.

What SOSA does have, offered properly rather than as a consolation

Having said plainly that the thing you searched for does not exist here, the useful move is to hand you the nearest real answer in each of the three directions people usually mean. If you want the warm side — the honeyed, indolic, slightly narcotic quality of orange blossom absolute — the answer is Garden Bloom at ₹799. Its night-blooming jasmine is a real sambac, and sambac and orange blossom absolute share the indolic architecture that makes both of them feel like a warm evening rather than a bouquet. There is a technical reason it holds up here that matters more in India than anywhere else: indole smells floral at low concentration and frankly faecal above it, and heat pushes it over that line, which is why cheap jasmine and cheap white-floral diffusers go off in an Indian summer. Garden Bloom is formulated with the indole held deliberately below that threshold, so it stays floral above 30°C. It is 8.9 on our strength scale, a medium floral, 45 days to two months on the 50ml.

If you want the bright green side — the neroli register — the answer is Morning Freshness at ₹749. It is the only genuine citrus in the reed line: cold-pressed Malabar lemon, peppermint, and a eucalyptus globulus base that slows the lemon's evaporation by three to four times, which is why it runs 6–8 weeks instead of the ten to fourteen days a citrus reed diffuser usually manages. That last point is the whole argument in this family. Citrus molecules are the smallest and most volatile in perfumery, so anyone selling you a citrus reed without telling you what is holding the citrus down is selling you two good weeks. If it is bergamot specifically you want, the only bergamot in the house is the Ritz-Carlton-inspired Hotel Collection scent at ₹299 — white tea, bergamot, cedar — and it is water-based, so it goes in a Sukoon at ₹1,899 or a Boond at ₹899. It cannot go in reeds, reed oil cannot go in a machine, and there is no hotel-inspired reed diffuser.

And if what you want is soft, honeyed and calm rather than emphatically floral, it is Evening Calm at ₹799 — Kashmir lavender and real chamomile over a soft musk drydown, 8.9 and the gentlest thing we make. Chamomile has a genuine honeyed sweetness in it that lands close to where orange flower water lands, which is why it keeps turning up in this conversation. Now the sentence the credibility of this page rests on, and I would rather write it twice than once: none of these three is orange blossom. Garden Bloom is rose and jasmine. Morning Freshness is lemon and mint. Evening Calm is lavender and chamomile. They are neighbours to a register you like, offered because a good neighbour is more useful than a bad imitation — not because I think you will not notice the difference.

Half the people who ask me for orange blossom want a warm honeyed white floral and half want a cool green cologne. They are describing the same tree and opposite smells.
— Sonal Sahani, SOSA

The edit, in buying order — and the gap stated once more

What I would actually buy, in order, if orange blossom is the search that brought you here. The last row is the gap, and it stays in the table on purpose. There is no neroli, no orange blossom absolute, no petitgrain, no bergamot and no bitter orange anywhere in the SOSA reed line, and the Hotel Collection on the ultrasonic side has no orange blossom either — one bergamot, and that is the extent of it.

A note from Sonal

At Versailles we were made to smell neroli and orange blossom absolute side by side, from the same flower, and asked to describe both. Nearly everyone got it wrong in the same direction: the absolute is what people picture when they hear the words, and the neroli — the more famous and far more expensive of the two — reads as a cologne rather than as a flower. I have never forgotten how confidently a room full of trainee perfumers can misidentify a smell they think they know.

That is why this page is mostly teaching rather than selling. If we made an orange blossom reed I would still have to ask which one you meant. Since we do not make one at all, the honest thing is to say so in the first line, explain the four materials properly, and then hand you the nearest real thing in whichever direction you turn out to be facing — Garden Bloom for the warm side, Morning Freshness for the bright one.

Could we compose an orange blossom reconstruction? Of course. It would be a competent accord and it would sell. I would rather add a scent when I have something to say with it than because a search term exists, and so far I have not had anything to say about orange blossom that the tree has not already said better. Everything is composed in Pune, and a part of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Does SOSA make an orange blossom reed diffuser?
No. There is no orange blossom, neroli, orange blossom absolute, petitgrain, bergamot or bitter orange anywhere in the SOSA reed line, and no orange blossom in the ultrasonic Hotel Collection either. The nearest honest answers are Garden Bloom at ₹799 for the warm indolic white-floral side and Morning Freshness at ₹749 for the bright citrus side. Neither is orange blossom.
What is the difference between neroli and orange blossom?
They come from the same flower on the same bitter orange tree and are extracted differently. Neroli is steam-distilled, which strips out the heaviest molecules and leaves something bright, green, soapy and faintly metallic. Orange blossom absolute is solvent-extracted cold, which keeps them, and is heavier, honeyed and indolic. In casual use both are called orange blossom, which is the root of most of the confusion in this category.
Is petitgrain the same as orange blossom?
No, and it is not floral at all. Petitgrain is distilled from the leaves and twigs of the same tree, and it smells green, dry, woody and bitter — like snapping a citrus leaf. It is also far cheaper than either flower material, because leaves are abundant and hand-picked blossom is not. If that dry green bitterness is what you are after, Mountain Breeze at ₹849 is the nearest register we make, through pine and sage rather than citrus leaf.
Why is orange blossom home fragrance so cheap if neroli is so expensive?
Because it is almost never neroli or orange blossom absolute. Both are among the most expensive florals in perfumery, and a diffuser retailing at a few hundred rupees cannot carry a meaningful dose of either. What is in the bottle is a reconstruction built from cheaper white-floral and citrus materials. That is legitimate, skilled composition rather than a scandal — but it is worth knowing that when you compare products in this category, most of them are not orange blossom either.
Which SOSA scent is closest to orange blossom absolute?
Garden Bloom at ₹799 for 50ml. Its night-blooming jasmine is a real sambac and carries the same indolic warmth that draws people to the absolute, and the indole is held deliberately below the threshold where it turns faecal above 30°C — which is why it does not go off in an Indian summer the way cheap white florals do. It is 8.9 on the SOSA strength scale and lasts 45 days to two months on the 50ml. It is rose and jasmine, not orange blossom.
