No - and I would rather be straight about it than let a sales page imply otherwise. A reed diffuser masks and freshens; it does not remove a bathroom odour. It works by releasing a pleasant fragrance into the air, which sits alongside or over an existing smell - it does not neutralise the odour molecules, it does not disinfect, and it does not clear whatever is producing the smell. If you put a reed over a live odour source, you get two smells competing, and that never smells clean. The thing that actually removes a bathroom odour is dealing with its source - biofilm under the toilet rim, a floor drain whose water seal has dried out, a damp mat gone musty - and then ventilating the room so the air moves. The whole answer hinges on two words that get used loosely: mask and remove. Removing an odour means the smell is gone, because whatever produced it has been cleared or neutralised. Masking an odour means a stronger, more pleasant smell is placed over it while the source is still there. A reed diffuser masks. The real fix is the source, and three checks clear most cases.
Clean under the rim. Biofilm - a slippery bacterial layer under the toilet rim and around the seat hinges - keeps producing smell after the bowl looks clean. A brush worked under the rim clears it.
Top up the floor drain. A drain has a water seal that blocks sewer gas. In a low-use bathroom it dries out and odour rises. Pour a mug of water down it.
Deal with damp items. Mats, cloths and loofahs that stay wet go musty. Dry or wash them - a damp mat is a quiet, constant source.
Then ventilate - open a window or run the exhaust fan properly, not for one minute. Moving air carries the odour out and keeps the room dry so it does not return. That sequence removes the smell; fragrance does not.
