Once you have accepted that a 1BHK is two air spaces rather than one, the shopping list gets short and the only real question left is what goes in the bedroom. Most buying guides answer that with a second copy of the first machine, because it is tidy and it is the more expensive option. In a normal 1BHK bedroom it is usually the wrong one. Here is the setup I would actually buy, in both versions, with the arithmetic showing plainly.

Why the second machine is a different job, not a second copy

The two rooms of a 1BHK ask for opposite things. The living area is large, open at one end to the kitchen, often draughty from a balcony door, and occupied in bursts — you want reach and you want a machine that can push scent across 300 square feet. The bedroom is small, closed, still, and occupied for eight unbroken hours while you are lying down with nothing else to think about. Reach is irrelevant there and restraint is everything. Put a machine sized for the living room into a 130 sq ft bedroom and the first thing you will do is turn it down.

Which is why the honest bedroom machine is often the ₹899 one. A Boond covers up to 150 sq ft, which is the size of most 1BHK bedrooms as they are actually built, and it runs the same water-based fragrances as everything else in the range. Its real limitation is not power but runtime — around six hours a fill against 16–18 for a Sukoon on low — and whether that matters depends entirely on how you use the room. If you run the bedroom machine while you read and let it go out, six hours is more than the job needs. If you want the room to still smell of something when the alarm goes, buy the second Sukoon and pay the ₹1,000. That is the whole decision, and it is a decision about your night rather than about the machines.

The second machine is not a smaller copy of the first — it is doing a different job in a different kind of room.
Reach matters in the living area. Restraint and timing matter in the bedroom. Buying two of the same machine treats those as the same problem.

Where the two machines go, and how to run them together

The living-area machine belongs near the middle of the open space, about a metre off the floor, on a console or a TV unit rather than the floor. Keep it away from the bedroom door — that spot feels clever and wastes output into a room that will not hold it while leaving the living room short. Keep it out of the direct line of the fan and the split AC, and leave a foot of clear space around it so the mist disperses rather than condensing on a wall.

The bedroom machine goes on the far side of the room from the bed — a dresser, a shelf, a chest of drawers — not on the nightstand. Close to your face you get a strong nose and a weak room, and you also get a water tank above your phone. On drops: the guidance for the Hotel Collection is three to six per tank, and I would run four in the living area and two to three in the bedroom. The bedroom is half the size and you are still in it for eight hours, so the same dose reads much stronger there.

Running them together is mostly about not running them together. Start the living-area machine when you get home and let it work through the evening on the 4H timer; start the bedroom machine on its own for the half hour before you go to bed. If both are going flat out at once in a 500 sq ft flat, the two outputs meet at the doorway and you get a single muddled smell instead of two clean ones. Use filtered water in hard-water cities, rinse the tank when you change scents, and never put raw essential or carrier oils in either machine — they are too thick to atomise and will foul the plate.

The two-machine 1BHK is the setup I recommend most often, and the part people argue with is the bedroom. There is a strong pull towards buying the same machine twice — it looks complete, it looks considered. It is mostly symmetry, and symmetry is not a specification.

I have a 130 sq ft bedroom myself and a Boond is what sits in it. Not because I could not justify the Sukoon, but because the room is small and still and I stop the machine before I sleep anyway. The extra ₹1,000 buys runtime, and runtime is only worth paying for if you are awake to use it.
