There are two events here and people keep treating them as one. A homecoming belongs to a person. A new address belongs to a place. Gifts that mark the first tend to be commemorative - something to keep, something that says several years of absence out loud. Gifts that mark the second are practical and go into a room. Try to do both with a single commemorative object and you have made a monument out of a move, in a house whose shelves are not even arranged yet. The way through is to give to the address and let the homecoming be the reason you are standing there.
The size a first dinner in a new place usually supports. A 130ml SOSA reed diffuser, ₹1,249 to ₹1,349 - published to last 14 to 18 weeks, with 6 fibre reeds in a refillable glass bottle. No flame, no socket, nothing to demonstrate, and it is addressed to the new address rather than standing in for several years abroad.
Quick answers — read this first
What gift marks both a return to India and a new home? Give to the home and let the return be the occasion rather than the object. A SOSA reed diffuser is ₹749 to ₹849 in 50ml and ₹1,249 to ₹1,349 in 130ml, published at 6 to 8 weeks and 14 to 18 weeks, with no flame, no socket and nothing to switch on. It is addressed to the address, and it ends by itself.
Why not something commemorative for the homecoming? Because a commemorative object has to be kept, and it has to be kept in a house that is still being organised after a move. A consumable is the only category that belongs to the new address without making a monument of the return - it does its work, it finishes, and nobody has to find a permanent place for the year they came back.
Is a housewarming gift and a welcome-home gift the same thing? They are two different jobs. One is for a room and one is for a person, and only the first can be settled by somebody who has not seen the house. The practical move is to pick the object for the room, and to say the welcome-home part yourself, out loud, in the doorway - SOSA supplies no message card and no insert card and could not say it for you anyway.
The short answer
Short answer: Give to the new address and say the homecoming part yourself. A SOSA reed diffuser is a consumable for the house: Rs 749 to Rs 849 in 50ml at 6 to 8 weeks, Rs 1,249 to Rs 1,349 in 130ml at 14 to 18 weeks, with no flame, no socket and nothing to operate. It marks the move without becoming a permanent object about the return.
The pick: A 130ml reed diffuser, ₹1,249 to ₹1,349, when you are being hosted for a proper first dinner in the new place - 14 to 18 weeks of published life, and still nothing permanent.
Why: It is addressed to the house rather than to the person, so it marks the new address without turning several years abroad into an object somebody has to display.
A gift cannot change how somebody's week went, and a page that suggests otherwise is not worth reading. What a small parcel does is tell a person you were thinking about them on a day when nothing made you - which is a real thing to say, and worth saying. Keep it small, because a large one asks somebody already short of energy to produce a reaction, and send the words separately, because the object cannot carry them.
My cousin has returned to India after several years overseas and is hosting us in their new home. What gift acknowledges both the homecoming and the new space?
Acknowledge the new space with the object and the homecoming with your own sentence. That split sounds like a dodge and it is actually the whole answer, because the two occasions have opposite requirements. A homecoming is about a person and several years, and the gifts that mark that kind of thing are commemorative - kept, displayed, looked at later. A new address is about a room, and the gifts that mark that are practical and get used up. Put both jobs on one object and you get a monument: something that has to be given permanent space in a house where the boxes may not all be open. A SOSA reed diffuser is the category that belongs to the second without pretending to the first. It is ₹749 for Morning Freshness, ₹799 for Garden Bloom and Evening Calm, and ₹849 for Mountain Breeze and Fresh Brew in 50ml, ₹1,249 to ₹1,349 in 130ml, published at 6 to 8 weeks and 14 to 18 weeks, with 6 fibre reeds in a refillable glass bottle, on a coconut-derived CCT carrier that is phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, made in India. Practically: no flame, no socket, no switch and nothing to demonstrate, which matters in a house where somebody is still finding the plug points. One more thing that is specific to a home run part of the year from somewhere else - a consumable is never left behind as luggage for a future move. Two honest gaps: SOSA publishes no coverage or room-size figure, and nothing here can tell you how the gift will be received - SOSA has no information of that kind and no page should invent it. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The homecoming is the reason you are in the room. It does not also have to be the object in your hands - and when it is, somebody has to keep it.
The default on this page: a reed diffuser, ₹749 to ₹1,349 - addressed to the new address, published at 6 to 8 or 14 to 18 weeks, and nothing to keep afterwards.
Two occasions, one object, and why that is harder than it sounds
Three things to separate, in this sequence. The first is the one that makes the other two easy.
1
The first thing
Two occasions have been folded into one
Worth pulling them apart on paper, because they pull in opposite directions.
The homecoming is about a person and a span of years. Whatever you feel about somebody coming back after a long time away, the natural expression of it is commemorative - a thing that lasts, that gets looked at, that stands for the span. The new address is about a room that is being set up. The natural expression of that is practical: something that gets used and used up while the house is still settling.
A single object cannot do both without becoming a monument. And a monument is the one thing a recently moved household is least equipped to absorb, because it needs permanent space, permanent placement and a decision that nobody has bandwidth to make in the first month. Split the jobs and both get done: the object goes to the address, and the homecoming gets said in words, by you, in the doorway.
Tip: Give the object to the address. Say the homecoming part yourself.
2
The second thing
Why a consumable is the only category that fits the second job
Run the shortlist against one test: what does this require of a house that is three weeks old?
Anything decorative requires a scheme that has not been decided yet, and a wall or a shelf whose contents are still provisional. Anything for the kitchen requires you to know what they already brought back and what they have bought since, which you do not. Anything electrical requires a socket in a flat where the furniture arrangement is not final. Food requires a guess about a household you have not eaten with in years.
A reed diffuser requires a flat surface, for a known length of time, and then it is over - 6 to 8 weeks for the 50ml, 14 to 18 weeks for the 130ml. It commits the household to nothing beyond that window. It is the only category on the list where finishing is the feature rather than the failure, and in a house that is still being assembled, that is the property that matters.
3
The third thing
Size, scent, and the parts SOSA does not supply
Size comes from the hospitality, not from the emotion. If this is a first dinner in the new place, the 130ml at ₹1,249 to ₹1,349 is proportionate to being fed and shown around. If it is an afternoon drop-in, the 50ml at ₹749 to ₹849 is the honest size. The duo sets at ₹1,498, ₹1,548 and ₹1,598 in 50ml x 2 exist for a whole weekend - those three pairings are the entire set range and none is composed to order.
On scent, narrow.Morning Freshness at ₹749 is lemon and mint. Evening Calm at ₹799 is lavender and chamomile. Fresh Brew at ₹849 is coffee and vanilla, which is the strongest opinion in the range. All five are made in India by a perfumer trained at ISIPCA in Versailles.
What SOSA does not supply. The only branding is a custom label or logo on product. There is no custom box, no printed sleeve and no insert card. There is no carton, no ribbon and no message card. Which is inconvenient here, because the homecoming half of this is exactly the part a card would carry - so it goes in your own words instead. Anything else, ask on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531.
Tip: Size from the hospitality, scent from what asks least, and the words from you.
The property that makes this work as a first-visit gift
A consumable is not an object somebody has to keep
The real fear behind a first-visit gift is not that it will be disliked. It is that it will have to be kept - displayed, dusted, and eventually explained if it disappears. A decorative object carries all of that into a home you have never seen. A reed diffuser does not, because it ends by itself. The published life makes that concrete: 6 to 8 weeks for the 50ml at ₹749 to ₹849, and 14 to 18 weeks for the 130ml at ₹1,249 to ₹1,349. It also asks nothing of anybody on the day - no flame, no socket, no switch, nothing to demonstrate. And if they do like it, the glass bottle is refillable, with refills at ₹2,399 for 300ml and ₹3,499 for 500ml in all five scents.
Write the two occasions down separately: a person returning, a new address.
Assign the object to the address and the homecoming to what you say.
Rule out anything commemorative that needs permanent space in a new house.
Size from the hospitality: 50ml for an afternoon, 130ml for a first dinner.
The SOSA principle
The gift that goes wrong at a homecoming is rarely the wrong taste. It is the one that tried to be a monument to several years abroad, handed over in a house where nobody has decided where anything lives yet.
A consumable declines that job on purpose, which is why the smaller gesture is often the one the house can actually take.
Which size a first dinner in a new address supports
Five scents, and in a home that is still being arranged the sensible instinct is to be less declarative rather than more. Morning Freshness at ₹749 is Malabar lemon and mint. Garden Bloom at ₹799 is British rose and night-blooming jasmine. Evening Calm at ₹799 is lavender and chamomile, soft and herbal. Mountain Breeze at ₹849 is Himalayan pine, sage and cedar. Fresh Brew at ₹849 is Coorg coffee and Kerala vanilla. All five are phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, made in India on a coconut-derived CCT carrier, formulated by an ISIPCA Versailles-trained perfumer - a fact about where the thing was made and by whom, which is a different kind of claim from a promise about anybody's response.
The SOSA gift edit
Four ways people mark a return, and where each one breaks
The option
Who it suits, and where it fails
A reed diffuser · ₹749 to ₹1,349
It belongs to the new address, needs no flame, no socket and no demonstration, and finishes in 6 to 8 or 14 to 18 weeks. It fails if you wanted the gift itself to carry the homecoming - it is deliberately undramatic, and the sentence about the years away has to come from you.
Something commemorative · any price
It does name the occasion, which is the thing you wanted. It fails on placement: a house three weeks old has no settled surfaces, and a commemorative object needs a permanent one plus a decision nobody has time to make yet.
A kitchen or appliance gift · any price
Useful, and genuinely welcome in a half-equipped house. It fails on information: you do not know what came back with them, what was bought last week or what is already on order, and duplication is the usual result.
Sweets or a food box · any price
Shared, immediate and easy to hand over at a door. It fails on the years apart: you have not eaten in this household for a long time, and a food gift is the one category that cannot avoid assuming something about what is eaten.
When one bottle is not quite the right size of gesture
The three duo sets - and they are the only three
Several of these situations want something a little larger without becoming complicated: a first formal visit, a weekend stay, a household that has just hosted you for a week. The published answer is a duo set - two bottles in one box. Day & Night pairs Morning Freshness with Evening Calm at ₹1,498; Fresh & Grounded pairs Morning Freshness with Mountain Breeze at ₹1,548; Warmth & Bloom pairs Fresh Brew with Garden Bloom at ₹1,598. In 130ml x 2 they are ₹2,498, ₹2,548 and ₹2,598. Those three pairings are the entire set range, none is composed to order, and both bottles in a set are the same size. On presentation, be straight with yourself before you order: custom label or logo on product is the only branding SOSA offers - there is no custom box, no printed sleeve and no insert card.
Two comparisons worth making deliberately. The duo sets - Day & Night at ₹1,498, Fresh & Grounded at ₹1,548, Warmth & Bloom at ₹1,598 in 50ml x 2, or ₹2,498 to ₹2,598 in 130ml x 2 - are the honest step up when you are being hosted properly rather than dropping in. Both bottles in a set are the same size and no pairing is composed to order. And SOSA attars from ₹379 point at the other half of this question: an attar is worn on the body, so it is a gift to your cousin rather than to the house. If what you actually want to mark is the person coming home, that is the category that addresses a person - and it will not also do the housewarming job, which is the trade.
₹749 to ₹849 across five scents, published to last 6 to 8 weeks. Large enough to be a proper object, small enough that the household never has to find permanent space for it.
₹1,249 to ₹1,349, published to last 14 to 18 weeks. The same object with more of it - the honest way to make the gesture larger without making it more complicated.
Two bottles in one box, ₹1,498 to ₹1,598 in 50ml and ₹2,498 to ₹2,598 in 130ml. Three published pairings, and those three are the whole range - none is composed to order.
from ₹1,498
Why this category answers a first-visit problem at all
It finishes. That is the entire argument, and it is a fact rather than a claim.
The fear behind almost every first-visit gift question is the same one: that you will hand somebody an object they now have to keep. A vase has to be displayed. A framed thing has to go on a wall. A decorative piece has to survive somebody's taste, and you have never seen the room. A reed diffuser is a consumable, so it carries none of that. It sits somewhere for a while and then it is gone, and nobody has to explain why it is no longer out. The published life makes that concrete rather than vague: 6 to 8 weeks for the 50ml (₹749 to ₹849) and 14 to 18 weeks for the 130ml (₹1,249 to ₹1,349). It also asks nothing of the household on the day: no flame, no socket, no switch, no batteries and nothing to explain at a front door - it works by standing there, with 6 fibre reeds in a refillable glass bottle, on a CCT coconut-derived carrier that is phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, made in India. Flip the reeds roughly once a week to refresh projection. What anybody makes of being given one is not something SOSA can tell you, and no page should pretend otherwise.
Tell SOSA who it is for, roughly how big the room is, whether their home is already scented and what you want to spend - and you will be told which size and which scent, including the times the honest answer is the 50ml rather than the 130ml.
A move can be marked with an object. A return is usually better marked with a sentence, said out loud, by somebody who is standing there.
— Sonal Sahani, SOSA
The SOSA gifting range
Two questions settle almost every reed diffuser gift, and the first one is not price. How big is the room it is going into? A 50ml suits a bedroom, a study, a hallway or a first diffuser; a 130ml suits an open-plan living and dining area, and it is genuinely too much for a small closed bedroom. Then: how much do you actually know about their taste? The less you know, the less declarative the scent should be - Morning Freshness is the safest of the five for a home you have never stood in, and Fresh Brew coffee-vanilla is the strongest opinion in the range. Price follows those two answers rather than leading them.
The SOSA range, sorted by how much it asks of the person receiving it
Start from what the gift demands, not from what it costs
₹749 to ₹849 across five scents. Published to last 6 to 8 weeks, with 6 fibre reeds and a refillable glass bottle. No flame, no socket, nothing to switch on
Day & Night ₹1,498, Fresh & Grounded ₹1,548, Warmth & Bloom ₹1,598 in 50ml x 2; ₹2,498 to ₹2,598 in 130ml x 2. These three pairings are the whole set range
From ₹379 in 3ml. An attar is a personal gift and a reed diffuser is a household one - which is the distinction most first-visit questions are really about
Boond ₹899, Sukoon ₹1,899, Megh ₹5,999 - they need a socket, water and regular refilling. That is a commitment to hand somebody on a first visit
from ₹899
A reed diffuser is a consumable, which is the whole argument for it as a first-visit gift. It is not a permanent object competing for a shelf in somebody else's home, and it needs no flame, no socket, no switch and no explanation at a front door. Published life is 6 to 8 weeks for the 50ml and 14 to 18 weeks for the 130ml, with 6 fibre reeds per bottle, a refillable glass bottle, and a CCT coconut-derived carrier that is phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, made in India. Flip the reeds roughly once a week to refresh projection - the product pages state the interval slightly differently, between every three and every seven days. Fragrance adds a scent to a room; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour and it does not clean the air. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available, with quantities settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The honest spec sheet
What the SOSA reed pages publish, and what they do not
Everything below is on the live product pages. Anything not on this list is not something a page like this should state.
The five scents and their prices - Morning Freshness, Malabar lemon and mint, ₹749 and ₹1,249; Garden Bloom, British rose and night-blooming jasmine, ₹799 and ₹1,299; Evening Calm, lavender and chamomile, ₹799 and ₹1,299; Mountain Breeze, Himalayan pine, sage and cedar, ₹849 and ₹1,349; Fresh Brew, Coorg coffee and Kerala vanilla, ₹849 and ₹1,349.
Published life - 6 to 8 weeks for the 50ml and 14 to 18 weeks for the 130ml, stated on all five pages. This is newer and more specific than the flat figure earlier SOSA writing used.
The format - 6 fibre reeds per bottle rather than rattan, a refillable glass bottle, and a CCT carrier (caprylic/capric triglyceride, coconut-derived) that is phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant. Made in India, formulated by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles trained. No flame, no socket, no switch.
Flip the reeds roughly once a week to refresh projection. The pages state it slightly differently - once a week on three of them, every five to seven days on one, every three to five on another - so treat it as about weekly rather than as a rule.
Duo sets and refills - three published pairings at ₹1,498, ₹1,548 and ₹1,598 in 50ml x 2 and ₹2,498 to ₹2,598 in 130ml x 2, and refills at ₹2,399 for 300ml and ₹3,499 for 500ml in all five scents. Those three pairings are the entire set range and none is composed to order.
Not published, and therefore never stated here: any coverage or room-size figure for a reed diffuser; how a scent behaves in a particular home; any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time; any presentation packaging beyond a custom label or logo on product; and anything whatsoever about how a gift is received. Those go to WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
Not sure how big the gesture should be? Tell SOSA on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 four things: whose home you are going to and how well you know them, whether you are staying or visiting for an evening, roughly what you want to spend, and whether anybody in the household has said anything about scent. You will get one straight answer rather than a catalogue - including the times the honest answer is the 50ml at ₹749 rather than anything larger. What is not on this page, because SOSA does not publish it: any coverage or room-size figure for a reed diffuser, any bulk rate, minimum quantity or lead time, and anything at all about how a gift is received. What is: 6 to 8 weeks for the 50ml, 14 to 18 weeks for the 130ml, 6 fibre reeds, a refillable glass bottle, and refills at ₹2,399 for 300ml and ₹3,499 for 500ml in all five scents. On presentation, be warned: custom label or logo on product is the one branding option - there is no custom box, no printed sleeve and no insert card, and there is no carton, no ribbon and no message card, so anything you want wrapped is yours to arrange. Where SOSA is: an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India, with no shop, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city.

A note from Sonal
A particular kind of message arrives on our WhatsApp, usually in the evening, usually slightly rushed. I am going to his parents' place on Sunday. I have never met them. I cannot go empty-handed and I have no idea what they like. It is one of the few gifting questions where the person is not really shopping. They are trying not to get something wrong in front of people whose opinion they have decided matters.
So the useful thing is not a recommendation, it is a subtraction. Most of what goes wrong with a first-visit gift is permanence. A decorative object has to be kept, displayed, and eventually explained if it is not. Food runs into what people eat. Anything personal runs into taste you have not earned the right to guess at yet. What is left is the category that ends by itself, and that is genuinely why a reed diffuser keeps coming up in those messages.
The part I would want you to hold on to is the least romantic part. The 50ml is published to last six to eight weeks, and the 130ml fourteen to eighteen. It has no flame, no plug and no switch, so nobody has to be shown how it works while their family stands in a doorway. It is a glass bottle and six fibre reeds, and it does the whole job by standing on a surface.
And the part I will not pretend about: I cannot tell you how anybody will take it. Nobody selling you a gift can, and the ones who promise it are selling you reassurance rather than a product. What I can tell you is what the object is, how long it lasts and what it asks of the person receiving it - which is very little. What that is worth on a Sunday afternoon in somebody's living room is yours to judge, not mine.
Frequently asked questions
What gift covers both a homecoming and a housewarming?
No single object does both jobs well, because one is addressed to a person and one to a room. The workable split is to give something for the house and to say the homecoming part yourself. A SOSA reed diffuser is Rs 749 to Rs 849 in 50ml and Rs 1,249 to Rs 1,349 in 130ml, needs no flame or socket, and finishes on its own rather than becoming a permanent object about the years away.
Why is a consumable better than something they can keep?
In a house that has just been set up, a permanent object needs a settled surface and a decision about where it lives, and neither exists yet. A consumable takes a flat surface for a published window - 6 to 8 weeks for the 50ml, 14 to 18 weeks for the 130ml - and then it is done. Whether that is what you want is your call, not a rule.
Which size for a first dinner at the new place?
The 130ml at Rs 1,249 to Rs 1,349 is proportionate when you are being fed and shown around, and it is published at 14 to 18 weeks. The 50ml at Rs 749 to Rs 849 is the honest size for an afternoon visit. A duo set from Rs 1,498 exists for a whole weekend, and there are exactly three published pairings.
Can SOSA include a card saying welcome home?
No. The only branding SOSA offers is a custom label or logo on product. There is no custom box, no printed sleeve and no insert card. There is no carton, no ribbon and no message card. The homecoming sentence has to come from you, which is arguably where it belonged anyway.
What can actually be checked about the object before deciding?
Only the published facts, and they are worth separating from everything else. What is published is what the object is and what it requires: a consumable in a refillable glass bottle with 6 fibre reeds, no flame, no socket, nothing to operate, and a stated life per size. What anybody makes of being given one is not something SOSA has information about, and nothing here is going to pretend otherwise.
Take the next step
Give to the address, and keep the homecoming in your own words
The 130ml at ₹1,249 to ₹1,349 when you are being hosted properly in the new place - 14 to 18 weeks, no flame, no socket. The 50ml at ₹749 to ₹849 for an afternoon visit - 6 to 8 weeks. A duo set from ₹1,498 when it is a whole weekend. Tell SOSA what kind of visit it is on WhatsApp - and note that no card, sleeve or box exists, so the homecoming sentence is yours to say.
Not sure which one suits the person you are buying for? Send SOSA their age, whether they drive, whether they like their home scented and your budget on WhatsApp, and you will get an honest answer - including when the cheaper product is the better gift.

Three duo combo sets are published: Day & Night at ₹1,498 in 50ml x 2 and ₹2,498 in 130ml x 2, Fresh & Grounded at ₹1,548 and ₹2,548, and Warmth & Bloom at ₹1,598 and ₹2,598; those three pairings are the entire set range and none is composed to order. Reed diffuser refills are ₹2,399 for 300ml and ₹3,499 for 500ml, published for all five scents. For comparison: SOSA attars are ₹379 to ₹399 in 3ml, rising to ₹1,149 to ₹1,199 in 12ml, and are worn rather than placed; SOSA candles start at ₹399 and require a flame; the ultrasonic machines Boond ₹899, Sukoon ₹1,899 and Megh ₹5,999 are water-based and need a socket, water and regular refilling. What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any coverage, room-size or square-footage figure for a reed diffuser; how a scent behaves in any particular home; any shelf life, oil concentration or evaporation rate; any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time; and any presentation packaging beyond a custom label or logo on product. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a room. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, it does not clean the air, and no SOSA product makes any health, antibacterial or air-purifying claim. No claim is made anywhere on this page about mood, stress, calm, sleep or wellbeing; where a product is named Evening Calm or Mountain Breeze that is a product name and not a claim about its effect. No claim is made about how any gift will be received. Nothing here states or implies that a gift will impress anybody, be appreciated, create a good impression or affect any relationship; SOSA publishes no information of that kind and none is invented here. No statement is made about what any community, religion or family customarily eats, drinks or gives, and no etiquette rule is presented as a fact - the reasoning offered is reasoning the reader can check against their own situation. No rating, review count or customer name from any product page is cited, and no competitor or category of competing product is characterised. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; that is the only branding option, and quantities are settled on WhatsApp. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
