Most people ask this holding a floor plan, and a floor plan is exactly the wrong drawing for the question. What decides placement in a building that cooks is not where the middle of the room is - it is where the air comes in, where it leaves, and which of those two the demonstration kitchen is nearer to.
Quick answers — read this first
Where should the scent machine go if the showroom has a cooking-demo area?As far upstream of the demonstration kitchen as the air path allows, with the cooking downstream on the extraction side. That way the showroom's air travels showroom first, cooking second, out - rather than carrying your fragrance through the room where somebody is cooking. In practice that usually means near the entrance or near where conditioned air enters the space, about a metre up, and well away from the AC return, which would otherwise take the fragrance straight back into the plant.
How do I find the air path in my own showroom? With a tissue and ten minutes. Hold a strip of tissue at each ceiling grille and watch which way it moves - blown means supply, pulled means return - and do the same near the extraction hood over the demonstration hob, which is usually the strongest fan in the building. Sketch the arrows on your plan. That sketch, not the architectural drawing, is what you place the machine from, and it takes less time than reading this answer.
Does the demo area need a machine of its own? No. It needs the opposite: it is a zone you deliberately leave empty, permanently, on every day of the week. One SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 covers up to 1000m³, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft, which is most display floors with room spare, and it is the entire hardware spend. Under about 750 sq ft the honest buy is one SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 instead.
The short answer
Short answer: as far upstream of the demonstration kitchen as the air path allows, with the cooking downstream on the extraction side, so the showroom's air moves away from the hob rather than through it. Find the current with a tissue at the supply grilles, the return and the extraction hood before choosing a position. One Vaayu (₹11,999), or a Sukoon (₹1,899) under about 750 sq ft.
The pick: one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) upstream near the entrance or the supply side, freestanding at about a metre, wall-mounted, or fitted into the air handling where you have central AC, or one SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) for a single-room studio.
Next step: send the floor plan with the supply grilles, the AC return, the extraction hood and the demonstration counter marked, and we will put an X on it - Ask for a retail scenting plan.
Placement here is a plumbing question rather than a fragrance one. Decide which end of the current the machine sits on and most of the other decisions answer themselves.
The showroom machine - tap to see the specification
Where should the scent machine physically go in a kitchen showroom that also has a cooking-demo area?
Upstream of the cooking. That is the whole answer, and everything else is detail about how to work out where upstream is in your particular building. Air in a showroom is not still - it comes in somewhere, moves across the space, and leaves somewhere else, and in a building with a demonstration kitchen there is usually a very powerful exit indeed in the form of the extraction hood over the hob. So the machine belongs near the entry point and the demonstration belongs near the exit, which means the air travels showroom first, cooking second, out. Do that and your fragrance never has to pass through the room where somebody is cooking. Get it the wrong way round, with the machine at the far end and the cooking between it and the door, and every bit of fragrance you produce is dragged across the demonstration on its way out, which is the one journey you did not want it to make. Finding upstream takes a tissue and ten minutes. Hold a strip of tissue at each ceiling grille: blown away means supply, pulled towards means return. Do the same under the extraction hood. Draw those arrows on your plan and you now have the only drawing that matters. The machine goes near the supply side, roughly a metre off the floor rather than at ankle or ceiling height, in open air rather than behind a display, and well away from the AC return - a machine sitting next to a return is dosing your ductwork rather than your showroom, which is the single most common placement mistake I see and it has nothing to do with cooking at all. If you have central air conditioning, there is a better option again: the Vaayu can be mounted into the air handling, which puts it definitionally upstream of every room the system serves. That is also how an entrance and a closed consultation room end up with the same air as the display floor. Three honest limits. First, if the demonstration area is an open archway rather than a room, you have one volume of air and there is no such thing as scenting half of it - placement helps at the margins and a real door helps enormously, and if you are still at fit-out stage the door is the cheapest decision in this guide. Second, whatever the extraction over that hob needs to be - hood sizing, air change, make-up air - is a question for your HVAC contractor, not for me, and I will not pretend otherwise. Third, fragrance never covers or cancels cooking, so placement is about keeping the two apart rather than about managing a mixture. Hardware: one SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 from about 1,500 sq ft, or one SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 under 750, and nothing at all in the demonstration zone. And plainly: no one can promise you that ambient scent moves footfall, enquiries or order value. Ask for a retail scenting plan and mark the grilles on the drawing.
Upstream of the cooking, downstream is the extraction. Find the current with a tissue at the grilles, put the machine near the supply at about a metre, away from the AC return, and leave the demonstration zone empty. One Vaayu ₹11,999, or a Sukoon ₹1,899 under 750 sq ft.
One SOSA Vaayu can go where the air path wants it - freestanding, wall-mounted or fitted into the HVAC, rated to 1000m³, waterless, under 38dB, 165 × 80.5 × 215mm and 0.9kg. ₹11,999. Under about 750 sq ft the honest buy is the Sukoon at ₹1,899, placed in the one room you have.
Mounting flexibility is the reason this particular machine suits a building with a demonstration kitchen: you can put it where the air path wants it rather than where there happens to be a spare plinth.
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft. Freestanding, wall-mountable or fitted into the air handling, 165 × 80.5 × 215mm and 0.9kg, 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, app and buttons, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, under 38dB, 5W, auto-stop and key-lock.
Ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft, supplied with three 15ml fragrances. In one room there is no upstream and downstream to speak of, so placement matters less and the honest plan is to run nothing on cooking days. A Vaayu at this size would be the wrong buy.
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft), 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mount, auto-stop and key-lock, 165 × 80.5 × 215mm, 0.9kg. CE, RoHS and SGS certified. Made in India. Cold-air refill oil is not currently sold separately - the machine ships with 400ml and further supply should be confirmed with SOSA.
Three steps, in order, and the first one takes ten minutes with something you already have in a drawer.

Map the current first
A tissue at the grilles tells you more than any drawing
Before you choose a position, find out which way the air is actually going. Hold a strip of tissue at every ceiling grille in turn: pushed away means it is a supply, pulled towards means it is a return. Do the same a safe distance under the extraction hood over the demonstration hob, which in most showrooms is by far the strongest fan in the building and therefore the dominant exit. Draw the arrows straight onto your floor plan. What you end up with is a map of a slow river running through your showroom, and every placement decision from that point on is simply a question of which end of the river something sits at.
Tip: Do it with the AC running normally and the front door in its usual state, not on a quiet Sunday.
One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.
About a metre up, in open air, near where the air comes in
The machine belongs on the supply side, as far from the demonstration kitchen along the current as the room permits, at roughly a metre off the floor rather than tucked at ankle height or perched above head height. It wants open air around it rather than the back of a display panel. And it belongs well away from the AC return, because a machine sitting beside a return is feeding your ductwork rather than your showroom - that is the most common placement mistake I see in any vertical, and in a building with a demonstration kitchen it also risks distributing fragrance to places you specifically did not want it.
Tip: If the machine is closer to the hob than to the front door, it is on the wrong end of the river.
One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.
The supply side of the air handling is upstream of everything
Where a showroom has central air conditioning, the strongest option is not a position on the floor at all. The Vaayu can be mounted into the air handling, which puts it upstream of every space the system serves - so the entrance, the display floor and a closed consultation room all receive the same air rather than three different microclimates. It is also how you get fragrance into a room whose door is usually shut, which no freestanding unit manages. The install itself is a job for whoever maintains your HVAC, and what the demonstration extraction needs is their question rather than mine.
One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.
A showroom with a demonstration kitchen has a current running through it, and the hood over the hob is the strongest thing pulling on it. Placement is just deciding which end of that current the machine sits on.
Everything else - height, distance, the corner it looks tidiest in - is a rounding error next to that one decision.
Three ways to mount it: The SOSA Vaayu can stand on a surface, hang on a wall or go into the air handling, so the air path decides the position rather than the furniture. ₹11,999.
Small enough to sit where you need it: 165 × 80.5 × 215mm and 0.9kg, which is a machine you can move to test a position rather than commit to one. ₹11,999.
The instinct is to put the machine in the middle of the room because the room looks symmetrical. Air has never once looked at your floor plan. It knows where it came in and where it is leaving, and that is all.
— Sonal Sahani, SOSA
Why the mounting options matter here
A machine that can follow the air rather than the furniture
Two machines cover almost every showroom with a demonstration kitchen, and past roughly 5,000 sq ft the conversation becomes an Aangan specified into the air handling rather than a unit placed in a room. Cold-air refill oil is not currently sold separately, so the 400ml supplied runs 90+ days a fill and continuity of supply should be confirmed with SOSA before you commit to a rollout. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Place from the tissue test rather than the floor plan, keep the machine upstream and off the return, and leave the demonstration zone empty. Ambient scent here is a presentation decision like lighting or display styling; it is never used to cover another smell - not cooking, not laminate, not adhesive - and extraction, air change and hood specification belong to your HVAC contractor rather than to a fragrance company. And plainly: no one can promise you that ambient scent moves footfall, enquiries or order value, and a supplier quoting a figure is selling. Ask for a retail scenting plan before you spend anything.

A note from Sonal
People ask me this question holding an architectural drawing, and the drawing is almost never the right document. It shows walls, and walls are only half of what decides where fragrance goes. The other half is the air, which enters your showroom in specific places, leaves in specific places, and in a building with a demonstration kitchen leaves rather forcefully through the hood over the hob. Once you see the room that way, the placement question stops being about tidiness or symmetry and becomes a very simple one: is the machine before the cooking on that journey, or after it?
Before, always. Machine near the supply or the entrance, at about a metre, in open air, away from the AC return. Demonstration kitchen at the far end, on the extraction side. Then your fragrance never has to cross the room where somebody is cooking, and the cooking has the shortest possible route out of the building. If you have central AC, mounting into the air handling is better still, because it is upstream of everywhere at once - including a consultation room whose door is shut. And if the demonstration area is an open archway rather than a room, be honest with yourself: that is one volume of air, and a door would do more for you than any placement I could suggest. And wherever the machine ends up, keep anything edible out of what it is dispersing. SOSA's own Fresh Brew at ₹849 is coffee and vanilla, and no amount of clever placement rescues a food note in a building that already cooks on purpose.
One Vaayu at ₹11,999 from about 1,500 sq ft, or a Sukoon at ₹1,899 under 750, and past roughly 5,000 sq ft an Aangan into the air handling. Never a second machine for the demonstration area. Installation, warranty, AMC and bulk pricing are not published and should be confirmed with SOSA. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Frequently asked questions
Where should a scent machine go if my kitchen showroom also has a cooking-demo area?
As far upstream of the demonstration kitchen as the air path allows, with the cooking downstream on the extraction side, so the showroom's air travels across the displays first and leaves through the hood rather than carrying fragrance through the demonstration. In practice that means near the entrance or the supply grilles, about a metre off the floor, in open air, and well away from the AC return. Where there is central air conditioning, mounting into the air handling is better still.
How do I work out which way the air moves in my showroom?
Hold a strip of tissue at each ceiling grille with the air conditioning running normally. Blown away means it is a supply; pulled towards means it is a return. Do the same a safe distance under the extraction hood over the demonstration hob, which is usually the strongest fan in the building. Draw those arrows on your floor plan. That sketch, rather than the architect's drawing, is what you should choose a position from.
Should the machine go near the AC return?
No. A machine beside a return sends most of what it produces straight into the ductwork rather than into the room you are standing in, which is the most common placement mistake in any building. Keep it on the supply side, in open air, at about a metre. If you want the air handling involved deliberately, the right way is to mount the machine into the system rather than to stand it next to a return and hope.
Do I need a second machine for the demonstration kitchen?
No, and you need one fewer rather than one more. The demonstration area is a zone you deliberately leave empty - no machine, no reed, no spray, on any day of the week. One Vaayu at Rs 11,999 covers up to 1000 cubic metres, which is most display floors with room to spare, and under about 750 sq ft one Sukoon at Rs 1,899 is the honest buy instead.
What if the demo kitchen is an open archway rather than a separate room?
Then it shares one volume of air with the showroom, and there is no such thing as scenting half a volume. Placement still helps at the margins, but the honest plan in that building is to run nothing at all on cooking days and to accept that the showroom's ordinary character belongs to non-cooking days. If you are still at fit-out stage, hanging a real door on that area will do more than any placement decision available to you afterwards.
Waterless by design: Nothing added to the air of a room full of finishes, and no residue left on surfaces - a fact about the machine, not a claim about your displays. ₹11,999.
