Walk into most electronics showrooms with your eyes shut and you could name the category in three seconds. New plastic. Warm circuitry. Dust on a vent. Cardboard somewhere behind a wall. Before a premium home-electronics showroom can smell of anything good, it has to stop smelling of that list - and no fragrance does that job.
Quick answers — read this first
What should a premium home-electronics showroom smell like? Of nothing it did not choose, first. The electronics-store smell is a finite list - off-gassing plastic and packaging, warm circuitry and dust on vents, cardboard in the back store, air sealed overnight - and every item on it has a fix that is not fragrance. Once the floor passes the smells-of-nothing test, the register is a well-kept home: dry cedar, a little tea or sage, a clean mineral note, or lemon-mint on a white glass floor, held at a level the advisor stops noticing.

Can fragrance cover the plastic and warm-electronics smell? No, and SOSA will not sell you a machine to try. Fragrance adds a smell; it does not subtract one. Layered over off-gassing plastic it makes a third smell that is worse than either alone. Unbox in the back store, ventilate before opening, clean the vents and the tops of displays, get the cardboard out of sight, run fresh air for an hour before the doors open. Fragrance comes after all of that, and lowest.

What does the honest installation look like? Under about 750 sq ft, one SOSA reed diffuser - Mountain Breeze at Rs 849 or Morning Freshness at Rs 749 - at the desk. From about 1,500 sq ft of connected floor, one SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999: waterless, so it adds no moisture and leaves no residue, with a 1h/4h/8h/24h timer, adjustable intensity and a key-lock. Past about 3,000 sq ft, one SOSA Angaan at Rs 25,999. It is an interiors decision, like lighting or music - SOSA makes no claim that it changes footfall, dwell time or sales, and no claim about what it does to any device.
The short answer
Short answer: first of nothing - fix the plastic, warm-circuitry, dust and cardboard smells with unboxing discipline, cleaning and fresh air - and only then of a well-kept home: dry cedar, tea, a clean mineral note, held at a level your own staff stop noticing.
The pick: nothing until the floor passes the smells-of-nothing test; then one Mountain Breeze reed (₹849) at the desk for a studio, or one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) for a connected floor of roughly 1,500-3,000 sq ft; one SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) past about 3,000 sq ft.
Next step: send a floor plan with the back store, the AC returns and any demo room marked and we will say honestly which machine, if any, and where - ask for a showroom scenting plan.

Straight answer
What should a premium home-electronics showroom smell like?
Of nothing you did not choose, and that is the whole first half of the answer. An electronics floor has a smell of its own that a furniture showroom or a fashion store does not, and it is not a mystery. New plastic and packaging off-gassing from everything unboxed on the floor. Warm circuitry from a hundred devices left on for demonstration, and the dust that settles on their vents and warms with them. Cardboard stacked in a back store that shares the floor's air. And the sealed overnight smell of a glass box with the AC off and nothing moving for twelve hours. Four items. Each of them has a fix, and none of the fixes is fragrance: unbox in the back store and let new stock breathe there before it comes out; ventilate, and run the AC on fresh air for an hour before opening; clean the tops of displays and the vents on anything that runs warm; keep the cardboard behind a door that closes. The rule I give every electronics owner is a test, not a product: stand at the far end of the floor at 10 am and ask whether it smells of anything. If it does, that is the job, and buying a machine now buys you a worse smell - fragrance over plastic makes a third thing that nobody chose. Why does my showroom still smell like an electronics store works through each of the four, and ventilation versus fragrance in a new showroom gives the order to fix them in. Now the second half. Once the floor passes, it should smell the way the best of these showrooms already look: like a well-kept home rather than a store. That means dry cedar, a little sage or tea, a clean mineral note on a floor of dark glass, walnut and matte black, and a clean lemon and mint on a white, bright, glass-and-lacquer floor. Nothing sweet, nothing amber-heavy, nothing that reads as a candle. The level sits a step below most retail because there is almost no fabric on an electronics floor to absorb anything - glass, steel, screens and stone all bounce a fragrance back - and it is set for the advisor who stands there nine hours, not the visitor who is there for thirty minutes. How to make an electronics showroom feel less like a warehouse puts scent where it belongs in the order of layers, last. The machine, when you get to it: under about 750 sq ft one Mountain Breeze reed at ₹849 at the desk; from about 1,500 sq ft of connected floor one SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999, waterless so it adds no moisture and leaves no residue, with a timer so it runs trading hours and a key-lock so nobody on the floor drifts it upward; past about 3,000 sq ft one SOSA Angaan at ₹25,999 rather than a second Vaayu in the same air. And the standing sentence, because it belongs on every page of this cluster: fragrance is an interiors decision like lighting or music. SOSA makes no claim that it changes footfall, dwell time, conversion or sales, no claim about what it does to any device, screen or finish on display, and it is never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or extraction. Any demo room or tasting counter stays unscented. Ask for a showroom scenting plan and the first thing we will ask is whether the floor smells of nothing yet.
Nothing first: fix plastic, warm circuitry, dust and cardboard at source. Then a well-kept home - dry cedar, tea, mineral, or lemon-mint on white - set for the advisor. Mountain Breeze reed (Rs 849) for a studio; Vaayu (Rs 11,999) from about 1,500 sq ft; Angaan past 3,000.
Once the floor passes the smells-of-nothing test, one SOSA Vaayu - waterless, 1000m³, timer and key-lock - at ₹11,999 carries one dry register across 1,500-3,000 sq ft of connected floor. Before it passes, buy nothing.

What an electronics floor runs on

Two honest answers, chosen by how much connected sales floor you have - and both of them wait until the floor smells of nothing. The images link to the product pages so every figure can be checked.

SOSA Vaayu
From about 1,500 sq ft of connected sales floor
SOSA Vaayu
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³ - about 2,000-3,000 sq ft - on one unit, Rs 11,999. No water, so no added humidity and no residue on glass, steel or screens; 1h/4h/8h/24h timer so it runs trading hours only; adjustable intensity; key-lock so the level you set with the team stays set; under 38dB, which matters on a floor where sound is part of the merchandise; wall or HVAC mount so the source sits away from the door and the returns.
From ₹11,999
SOSA Mountain Breeze Reed Diffuser
Under about 750 sq ft - the honest starting point
SOSA Mountain Breeze Reed Diffuser
Himalayan pine, sage and Indian cedar - the driest register SOSA makes and the one that reads as a well-kept home on a floor of dark glass and matte black. Alcohol-free, six fibre reeds, flip weekly. 50ml Rs 849 lasts 6-8 weeks at a desk; 130ml Rs 1,349 lasts 14-18 weeks. Reaches one desk zone, which is exactly right for a studio.
From ₹849
SOSA Vaayu
The machine for an electronics floor that has already been fixed
SOSA Vaayu Waterless Diffuser
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft) on a single unit, Rs 11,999, adjustable intensity, 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, key-lock. Wall or HVAC mount so the source sits inward, away from the door and the demo room. CE, RoHS, SGS certified. Made in India.

The four smells you did not choose, and the one you do

Five cards. The first four are the electronics-store smell, one source each, with its non-fragrance fix. The fifth is the only one where SOSA sells you anything, and it comes last for a reason.

1
Plastic
New stock off-gasses - so let it do that in the back store
The sharpest note on a new electronics floor is plastic and packaging off-gassing: films, foams, moulded trays, the inside of a box that has been sealed since it left the factory. It fades on its own over days, and it fades fastest with air moving over it. So the fix is a discipline, not a product. Unbox in the back store, not on the floor. Let new stock stand unwrapped for a day or two where the air is exchanged before it goes out on display. Keep the films off displays that are already out. Every owner who has tried to fragrance over this has learned the same thing: fragrance adds, it does not subtract, and cedar over warm plastic is a third smell that reads as a chemist's shelf. My new showroom smells of plastic and packaging is the page to read before you spend anything.
Test: open a box on the floor, walk ten paces, and turn round. If you can still find it, that is the smell you are fighting, and it is not a fragrance job.
2
Warm circuitry and dust
A hundred devices left on all day - clean what they warm
An electronics floor is the only retail floor where the merchandise runs. Screens, amplifiers, power supplies, the back of every display case - all of it warms, and the dust that settles on a vent warms with it and gives off that faint toasted note everyone recognises and nobody can name. There is no fragrance answer to warm dust. There is a cleaning answer: the tops and backs of displays, the vents on anything that runs, the grilles on the AC returns that pull the whole floor's air through them, on a schedule and not when someone notices. Some floors switch demo units off overnight and let them cool; where the brand allows it, that alone changes the morning. The Vaayu itself runs cool and waterless, which is the one product fact worth stating here: it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on anything it shares a room with. SOSA makes no claim beyond that about what fragrance does to any device.
Rule: if the smell is strongest behind the displays, it is dust and heat, and the cleaning rota is the fix.
3
Cardboard and the back store
A door that closes is worth more than a machine
Most electronics showrooms keep stock on site, and most back stores share the sales floor's air through a doorway that is always open, a gap over a partition, or the AC itself. Cardboard in quantity has a smell - dry, papery, slightly sweet - and it is the note that makes a premium floor read as a warehouse the moment the eye stops arguing with the nose. Get it behind a door that closes. If the back store is on the same AC zone, ask whoever maintains the plant whether it can be returned separately. Break down and remove boxes daily rather than weekly. This is also the place to say what the page is about: none of these four fixes costs anything from SOSA, and any supplier who suggests a fragrance machine as the first step for a floor that smells of cardboard is selling you the wrong order. Less like a warehouse lays the layers out in sequence.
SOSA Mountain Breeze Reed Diffuser
When the floor passes, a single Mountain Breeze reed at the desk is where a studio starts - pine, sage and cedar, nothing to plug in.
See Mountain Breeze →
4
Sealed overnight air
Twelve hours with nothing moving - fix the morning before the fragrance
A glass-fronted showroom with the AC off overnight is a sealed box, and by morning everything in it has contributed a little to the air: the plastic, the warm dust cooling, the cardboard, the cleaning products from the night before. The first hour after opening is when a visitor smells all of it at once. The fix is a routine: fresh-air mode or an open service door for the hour before opening, returns and supplies running, and a rule that the fragrance machine does not start until the floor has been aired. On the Vaayu that is what the timer is for - trading hours only, starting after the air has moved, not at the moment the shutter goes up. Ventilation versus fragrance in a new showroom sets the order out in full, and the order never changes: air first, cleaning second, fragrance last.
Rule: the machine starts when the floor smells of nothing, not when the doors open.
5
The one you choose
A well-kept home - dry, quiet, set for the advisor
Only now. With the four fixed, the floor smells of nothing in particular, and that is the moment to decide what it should smell of. The best home-electronics showrooms are designed as living rooms and studies, and the air should agree: dry cedar, sage, a little tea, a clean mineral note for a floor of dark glass, walnut and matte black; lemon and mint for a white, bright, glass-and-lacquer one. Nothing sweet, nothing amber-heavy, nothing that reads as a candle shop. Then the level, and it is a step below most retail: glass, steel and screens bounce fragrance around with almost no fabric to absorb it, and the person who has to live with it is the advisor on the floor for nine hours. Noticed at the first display, forgotten by the demo table. A machine with adjustable intensity and a key-lock exists so that the setting you find with the team stays found. A TV and home-entertainment showroom takes the level a step further down again, and whether an electronics store should have a signature scent asks the question that comes after this one.
SOSA Vaayu
The Vaayu is waterless, holds its level under a key-lock, runs trading hours on a timer, and mounts on the wall you choose rather than the nearest socket.
See SOSA Vaayu →
The SOSA principle
A premium electronics showroom earns its fragrance by first smelling of nothing - plastic, warm dust and cardboard fixed at source - and then wears one dry register so lightly that the floor reads as a home.
Subtract, then add. The machine is the last and thinnest layer, and it is only honest once the floor has passed the smells-of-nothing test.
SOSA Vaayu
After the floor is fixed, one machine, one low level: SOSA Vaayu, ₹11,999, waterless, timer and key-lock, up to 1000m³ of connected sales floor.

Source by source: what each smell is and what fixes it

The same answer as a table. The left column is what you can smell on a typical electronics floor; the right column is the fix, and in only one row is the fix a SOSA product.

The SOSA diagnosis
The electronics-store smell, one source at a time
What you can smell What fixes it
Sharp, chemical, strongest near new displays
New plastic and packaging off-gassing. Unbox in the back store, let stock breathe for a day or two, keep films off the floor. Fragrance over this makes a worse third smell. Cost: nothing.
Faint toasted note, strongest behind displays
Warm circuitry and dust on vents. Clean the tops, backs and vents on a rota; clean the AC return grilles; cool demo units overnight where the brand allows. Cost: nothing.
Dry, papery, slightly sweet - reads as warehouse
Cardboard in a back store sharing the floor's air. A door that closes; daily removal; a separate return if the plant allows. Cost: nothing.
Everything at once, first hour of the day
Sealed overnight air. Fresh-air mode or an open service door for an hour before opening; the fragrance timer starts after the airing, never at the shutter. Cost: nothing.
SOSA VaayuNothing in particular - the floor has passed
Now, and only now, a well-kept home: cedar, tea, mineral, or lemon-mint on white, set for the advisor. A Mountain Breeze reed for a studio; one Vaayu from about 1,500 sq ft. View →

Three sibling pages carry this further: an air-conditioner experience centre is where the merchandise moves the air and strips scent from its own zone, a premium sensory identity for a home-appliance store puts light, sound, touch and air alongside scent as one written standard, and what a premium home-appliance showroom should smell like is the page this one grew out of. SOSA makes no claim that any of this affects footfall, dwell time, conversion or sales, and no claim about what fragrance does to any device on display.

SOSA Mountain Breeze Reed Diffuser
The honest start for a studio that has been fixed: one Mountain Breeze reed diffuser at the desk, ₹849 for 50ml, 6-8 weeks, reaches one desk zone.
First the floor smells of nothing - then one register, on a timer, held low
SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999 covers up to 1000m³ on a single waterless unit. Send a floor plan with the back store and returns marked and we will say honestly whether you are ready for it.

Fragrance adds a smell. It has never once subtracted one. Fix the plastic, the dust and the cardboard, and then decide what a well-kept home smells like.

Fragrance here is an interiors decision like lighting or music, with no claim about footfall, dwell time, conversion or sales, and no claim about what it does to any device, screen or finish. A note from Sonal

Electronics owners are the ones I most often send away without selling anything, and I think they are the ones who come back most gladly. They arrive with a fragrance in mind - something expensive, usually - and the first thing I ask is what the floor smells of at ten in the morning with nothing else going on. Most of them have never stood at the far end and checked. When they do, they find plastic, or the warm-dust note off the back of the displays, or the cardboard from a stock room whose door has not been closed in a year. That is the job. A machine bought that week is a machine that will be blamed for a smell it did not make.

The order never changes, and it is the same order I would give for a house: air, then cleaning, then fragrance. Unbox in the back. Run fresh air before the doors open. Clean what runs warm. Put the cardboard behind a door. Then stand at the far end again and ask whether it smells of anything, and only when the answer is no do we talk about cedar and tea and how low to set it. On the Vaayu the timer starts after the airing, not at the shutter, and the key-lock keeps the level where the floor team agreed it - they breathe it nine hours a day, and if they say it is too much, it is too much.

What goes on last is small and dry and quiet: cedar, sage, a little tea, a clean mineral note - or lemon and mint if the floor is white. A Mountain Breeze reed at the desk for a studio; one Vaayu at ₹11,999 from about 1,500 sq ft; one Angaan past 3,000. And through all of it: no claim that fragrance moves footfall, dwell time or sales, and no claim about what it does to anything on display. It is an interiors decision, like lighting or music. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

What is the electronics-store smell made of, and can fragrance remove it?
It is a finite list: new plastic and packaging off-gassing, warm circuitry and the dust on its vents, cardboard in a back store that shares the floor's air, and air sealed overnight with the AC off. Fragrance removes none of these. It adds a smell, and layered over plastic or warm dust it makes a third smell that is worse than either. Each item has a non-fragrance fix - unboxing discipline, cleaning, a closed door, an airing routine - and those come first.
When is a home-electronics showroom ready for a scent machine?
When it passes the smells-of-nothing test: stand at the far end of the floor at ten in the morning, with nothing cooking or running unusually, and ask whether the air smells of anything. If it smells of plastic, warm dust or cardboard, fix that first and spend nothing on fragrance. If it smells of nothing in particular, the floor is ready, and the register is a well-kept home - dry cedar, tea, a clean mineral note, or lemon-mint on white.
Which register suits a home-electronics floor of dark glass and matte black?
Dry cedar, sage, a little tea and a clean mineral note - in the SOSA range, Mountain Breeze. Dark glass, walnut and matte black read as a study or a living room, and cedar agrees with them without announcing itself. A white, bright, glass-and-lacquer floor takes Morning Freshness, a clean lemon and mint, instead. Nothing sweet, amber-heavy or gourmand on either, because those read as a candle shop rather than a home.
Why should an electronics showroom sit a step below other retail on fragrance level?
Because there is almost no fabric on the floor. Glass, steel, screens and stone bounce a fragrance around instead of absorbing it, so the same setting reads a step stronger than it would in a furniture or fashion showroom. Set the level for the advisor who stands on the floor nine hours a day, not the visitor who passes through in thirty minutes: noticed at the first display, forgotten at the demo table, and locked so that it does not drift upward.
Does SOSA claim that fragrance makes an electronics showroom sell more?
No. SOSA makes no claim that ambient fragrance changes footfall, dwell time, conversion, sales or any other business number, and a supplier who offers you a figure is selling. It is an interiors and hospitality decision, like lighting or music. SOSA also makes no claim about what fragrance does to any device, screen or finish on display; the only product fact is that the Vaayu is waterless, adds no moisture and leaves no residue.
