Ten branches under one name should smell of one thing, and that part is easy to agree and cheap to hold. The difficulty sits underneath it, in three variables nobody puts on the branch list.
Quick answers — read this first
Should all ten branches use the same signature fragrance? In intent, yes - a single fragrance across the estate is the cheapest thing in a chain standard to hold constant, and it is the one thing a customer moving between two branches would actually register. What must not be identical is the setting. Ten branches have ten scented volumes, ten ceiling heights and ten air-handling arrangements, and the same output in a larger or busier room is a weaker room. One scent, ten doses, written down.
What actually varies between branches, then? Three things, in this order. Scented volume, once you have subtracted every collection room, processing area, bench, scan room, control room and changing cubicle - that subtraction is larger than most branch managers expect. Ceiling height, because coverage is cubic and a 3.6m atrium branch eats far more than a 2.7m shopfront of the same floor area. And air handling: a branch on a shared return distributes everything everywhere, and a branch with an openable frontage loses it to the street.
Does SOSA run a programme for a ten-branch buyer? It does not, and I would rather that were the third thing you read than the last. There is no bulk pricing, no discount slab, no minimum order, no GST arrangement, no custom branding, no published lead times, no installation or commissioning service, no AMC or warranty statement and no corporate account programme. Multi-branch enquiries go to the contact page and nothing is promised on terms. The standard is what we can genuinely help you write.
The short answer
Short answer: Yes in intent - one fragrance across all ten, because the scent is the cheapest element of a chain standard to hold constant. But the setting cannot be identical: scented volume, ceiling height and air handling differ branch to branch, and the same output in a bigger room is a weaker room. Specify one scent and a dose per cubic metre.
The pick: one register across the estate - Morning Freshness at ₹749 for the small branches, with the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 only where the public volume earns it.
Next step: send the ten branches with floor areas, ceiling heights and a note on which have central air handling, and we will write the dose column for you - ask for a clinic scenting plan.
We run ten diagnostic centres - should every branch have the same signature fragrance?
Yes, one fragrance across all ten, and no, not one setting across all ten. Those two sentences look like a compromise and they are not; they describe two different layers of the same standard. Take the easy layer first. A single scent across the estate is the cheapest thing in a chain standard to hold constant, because it costs nothing extra to specify and it is the one element a customer moving between your Kothrud branch and your Baner branch could conceivably register. It also survives everything else: a branch can be refitted, resized or relocated and the fragrance clause does not change. So write one scent, in the dry, clean, cool register this vertical wants - citrus, green, tea, light woods, cedar, pine, sage - and nothing sweet, gourmand or lavender-led. That last exclusion has a specific reason in this business. Your morning peak is made of fasting samples, so between seven and ten your waiting rooms are full of people who have not eaten since the night before, and a coffee-and-vanilla room in front of them is a discourtesy rather than anything else. It is a matter of register and consideration, and I am making no claim about what a fragrance does to anybody. It also rules out my own Fresh Brew at ₹849 from all ten branches. Now the harder layer. What genuinely varies between ten centres is not taste, it is physics: the scented volume that survives your exclusions, the ceiling height, and the air handling. The same output in a bigger room is a weaker room, and a branch on a shared return distributes everything into places you deliberately left out. So the dose belongs in the standard as a level per cubic metre and a number of hours a day, not as a machine model per branch. One branch might be a ₹749 reed and another an ₹11,999 SOSA Vaayu and both can be running the same fragrance at a comparable level. Two honest limits. Ten branches will never be identical, and chasing the last ten per cent of consistency costs real money for a difference no customer can detect - stop when they are close. And on terms, SOSA has no bulk pricing, no discount slab, no minimum order, no GST arrangement, no custom branding, no published lead times, no installation or commissioning service, no AMC or warranty statement and no corporate account programme at all - a multi-branch enquiry goes to the contact page and nothing is promised on terms. Fragrance here is an ambience decision like lighting, seating or signage, SOSA products are not medical devices, collection, processing, bench, scan and control rooms stay unscented in all ten, and the clinician's judgement overrides any plan. We make no claim that a signature affects footfall, package sales or revenue in any branch.
Hold the fragrance constant and let the dose vary. Volume, ceiling height and air handling differ branch to branch; the scent costs nothing to keep identical. Specify a level per cubic metre, not a machine per branch.
Across a mixed ten-branch estate the usual shape is a ₹749 reed at the small quiet branches and a SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 at the two or three with a genuinely large public volume, all of them running the same register at a comparable level.
A chain buying ten identical machines so that the branches match has bought the wrong thing consistently. The consistency a customer can perceive is the fragrance and the level; the box on the wall is an engineering choice that should follow each branch's own volume.
Waterless cold-air nebuliser, 1000m³ or roughly 2,000-3,000 sq ft, ₹11,999. In an estate its value is that intensity and run windows can be written into the standard as numbers and then locked at branch level.
HVAC nebulising diffuser rated to 3,000m³, about 8,000-10,000 sq ft, ₹25,999, 800ml, under 42dB, ducted or wall-mounted. Correct only where a single connected public volume genuinely outgrows a Vaayu.
₹11,999, 1000m³ coverage, 400ml at 90+ days, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, auto-stop, key-lock, under 38dB, wall or HVAC mountable, black or white, 165×80.5×215mm and 0.9kg. CE, RoHS and SGS - electrical and compliance marks, not medical approval. Made in India.
Every argument I have ever watched a chain have about branch consistency turned out to be one of these three wearing a fragrance costume. Settle them in the standard and the scent question answers itself.

Scented volume, after the subtraction
Two branches with the same number on the lease can have very different scented volumes, because the exclusions are not proportional. Collection and phlebotomy rooms, sample processing and bench areas, every scan room and its control room, and the changing cubicles are unscented in every branch as a flat rule, never a lighter dose - those rooms belong to your lab director, your radiographers and your facilities engineer. A 1,200 sq ft branch that is mostly reception might leave 900 sq ft of public air. A 1,200 sq ft branch built around four collection cubicles and an ultrasound room might leave 400. Same lease, less than half the air. If your branch list has one column, make it this one: scented volume in cubic metres, measured after the subtraction.
Tip: Ask each branch manager to shade the clinical rooms on a printed plan. The shaded fraction varies more across an estate than anything else on the list.
Size a Vaayu against the unshaded part of the drawing only. Sizing against the lease is how a chain buys a machine too many.
Coverage is cubic and branch lists are written in square feet, which is why estates get this wrong so consistently. Square feet multiplied by ceiling height in metres multiplied by 0.0929 gives cubic metres, and that is the number a machine is rated against. A 1,000 sq ft branch at 2.7m is about 251m³. The same 1,000 sq ft in a converted showroom with a 4.2m soffit is about 390m³ - more than half as much air again, from a number that looked identical on the spreadsheet. Double-height arrival volumes are the worst offenders, because they look impressive and they swallow output. So the standard specifies a level per cubic metre. Somebody then has to walk into ten branches with a tape or a laser measure, which is the least popular sentence in this whole family and also the one that makes the rest work.
Tip: Record ceiling height as a column on the branch master, once. It never changes, and every future scenting decision depends on it.
The Vaayu is rated at 1000m³, not at a floor area. Convert each branch first and the model choice usually makes itself.
The third variable is the one your branch managers cannot see. A centre on a central system with a shared return is distributing everything it is given, including into the rooms you excluded on paper - placement alone will not hold an exclusion there, and the honest response is to run lower or, on some systems, not at all. A branch with a permanently open shutter frontage loses most of its output to the pavement and there is no fragrance answer to that. A branch with a closed door, a corridor and a return path in the right place will hold a level with almost no effort. Read each branch's mechanical drawing before you write its dose, and where there is no drawing, ask the facilities engineer rather than guessing from the ceiling grilles.
Tip: Three branch categories are enough for a standard: shared return, independent handling, and naturally ventilated. Write a dose band for each.
Where the estate has one genuinely ducted flagship, the Angaan works with the air handling instead of fighting it.
A chain argument about which fragrance is nearly always a disguised argument about volume, ceiling height or air handling. Settle those three and the fragrance question turns out to be the small one.
Which is also why the fragrance clause in a good chain standard is two lines long and the dose clause is a table.
What a chain standard can genuinely fix in hardware: identical run windows and a locked intensity per branch, so the setting is a written number rather than a local habit.
What is held constant, and what is allowed to move
Four rows. The two constants are free, the two variables are where the work is, and no customer will ever detect the difference between a branch at nine and a branch at eleven on the same scale.
The SOSA plan
Constants and variables across a ten-branch estate
What the standard covers
Held constant, or varied by branch
The fragrance itself
Constant. One register, one product, all ten branches - the cheapest element to standardise and the only one a customer moving between branches could register.
The zero list
Constant. Collection, phlebotomy, processing, bench, scan and control rooms and changing cubicles are unscented everywhere, never at a lower level.
The dose and run window
Varied. A level per cubic metre and hours per day, set from each branch's own volume, ceiling height and air handling. View →
The hardware
Varied, and deliberately so. A reed at a small quiet branch, a machine where the public volume earns it, a ducted unit at the one site that outgrows both. View →
Why the lock matters more in an estate than in one centre: ten receptionists adapting at ten different rates will produce ten different rooms within a quarter unless the dial is out of reach.
Ten branches will never smell identical, and they do not need to. They need to smell like one company that decided something, which is a far cheaper target and a far more achievable one.

The SOSA position for a ten-branch estate
One fragrance across the estate, hardware sized branch by branch
Most branches in a ten-branch estate will not reach any of those rows, and a reed at ₹749-₹849 is the correct answer there - the reed line also has published refills, oil only, at ₹2,399 for 300ml and ₹3,499 for 500ml. On terms, SOSA has no bulk pricing, no discount slab, no minimum order, no GST arrangement, no custom branding, no published lead times, no installation or commissioning service, no AMC or warranty statement and no corporate account programme at all - a multi-branch enquiry goes to the contact page and nothing is promised on terms. Fragrance here is an ambience decision like lighting, seating or signage, with no health, therapeutic or clinical claim of any kind, and no claim that it affects footfall, package sales, retention, reviews or revenue. It works alongside your ventilation, cleaning and laboratory protocol, never instead of them, SOSA products are not medical devices, collection, processing, bench, scan and control rooms stay unscented, staff must be able to switch the source off in seconds, and the clinician's judgement overrides any plan. Ask for a clinic scenting plan with your branch list attached.

A note from Sonal
The first thing I ask a ten-branch owner for is not a scent preference, it is a spreadsheet with three columns: scented area after the clinical rooms come out, ceiling height, and whether the branch is on central air handling. Nine times out of ten the third column is empty and the second column has never been recorded anywhere. That spreadsheet is the actual deliverable of a chain conversation, and it is free.
The reason I push against ten identical machines is that it is the most expensive way to be inconsistent. Ten of the same unit in ten different volumes gives you ten different rooms, and it costs a great deal more than one unit and nine bottles would. Matching hardware is a procurement instinct, and it is the wrong instinct for a physical quantity that is measured in cubic metres.
What I would hold constant is the register and the zero list, and I would let everything else follow the building. We make no health, therapeutic or clinical claim of any kind, and no claim that scenting affects footfall, package sales, retention or revenue. Fragrance is an ambience decision, like lighting or seating. Clinical rooms stay unscented, and the clinician's judgement overrides any plan. Frequently asked questions
Should every branch in a diagnostic chain use one fragrance?
In intent yes, because the fragrance is the cheapest element of the standard to hold constant and the only one a customer moving between branches could register. What must not be identical is the setting - scented volume, ceiling height and air handling differ, so the standard names one scent and a dose per cubic metre rather than one intensity number for everybody.
Why does the same diffuser smell weaker in one branch than another?
Because coverage is cubic and the two rooms are not the same volume. A 1,000 sq ft branch at 2.7m holds about 251m³; the same floor area under a 4.2m soffit holds about 390m³. Add door traffic and air handling and the difference widens further. The output has not changed - the room it is being asked to fill has.
Can we buy ten identical machines so the branches match?
You can, and it is the most expensive way to end up inconsistent. Ten identical units in ten different volumes produce ten different levels, and the small branches will be over-dosed while the large ones stay faint. Match the fragrance and the level; let the hardware follow each branch's own cubic metres.
How close do ten branches actually need to be?
Close enough that a customer visiting two of them in a week would not remark on the difference, which is a much lower bar than it sounds. Past that point you are spending real money on a difference nobody can detect. I would rather a chain stopped at ninety per cent and put the rest into seating.
Which fragrances are wrong for every branch of a diagnostic chain?
Anything sweet, gourmand, powdery or lavender-led. The specific exclusion in this business is gourmand, because fasting samples fill your morning waiting rooms with people who have not eaten overnight and a bakery or coffee register is a discourtesy in front of them. That rules out Fresh Brew at ₹849 estate-wide, and it is my own product.
For the largest site in a mixed estate: the SOSA Angaan at ₹25,999 covers roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft of ducted air, and it is usually a one-branch-in-ten decision rather than an estate one.
Hold the fragrance and the zero list constant; vary the dose by volume, ceiling height and air handling. No bulk pricing, no minimum order and no corporate programme - multi-branch enquiries go to the contact page. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Facts verified 5 September 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with a 400ml refillable tank lasting 90+ days depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and onboard button control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, operation under 38dB, DC 12V/1A at 5W (roughly 1.5 units of electricity a month on a ten-hour daily schedule), freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, auto-stop and key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS certification. Being waterless, it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on surfaces or equipment. The SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) is an HVAC nebulising diffuser rated to 3,000m³, roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft, with an 800ml reservoir, metal body, programmable schedules and operation under 42dB, and also runs standalone wall-mounted or lay-flat. The SOSA Meenar (₹38,500) is the largest machine in the range, quoted for roughly 12,000-18,000 sq ft of HVAC-connected space. Ambient scent is an interior and hospitality decision: it works alongside proper ventilation, cleaning and clinical protocol and is not a substitute for any of them, it is not a medical device, and SOSA makes no health, therapeutic or treatment claim of any kind and no claim that fragrance affects bookings, retention or spend. CE, RoHS and SGS are electrical and compliance marks, not medical approval. The hotel-inspired scents are SOSA's own original interpretations; SOSA is an independent brand and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any hotel named for reference. Coverage, fragrance usage and running cost depend on the space, settings and hours of use, and are confirmed on a consultation.
