Somewhere in most chief executives' offices there is a shelf, and on that shelf is a decade of gifts. Engraved desk clocks, paperweights, crystal, framed things, a plaque from a conference in 2019. None of it was badly meant and none of it is used. That shelf is the real competition for anything you are about to buy, and the way past it is not a better ornament.
Quick answers — read this first
What do you gift a CEO who travels constantly? Something that gets consumed rather than displayed. A chief executive already owns the ornamental category several times over. A cordless diffuser like SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 works because the object is small and the fragrance inside it runs down and gets replaced, which means it lives in use rather than on a shelf.

What is wrong with most corporate gifts to senior executives? They are made to be looked at. Engraved glass, desk sets and plaques are designed to signal that a gift happened, which is why they are kept and never used. Anything with a consumable inside it has the opposite life: it is opened, used, and finished.

How much should a gift for a chief executive cost? ₹3,000 to ₹4,500 is the band where a business gift is clearly considered without becoming an obligation. Above ₹5,000 it starts to ask for something back, and many companies have a gift-value policy that makes a large number a problem rather than a compliment.
The short answer
Short answer: Buy something that gets used up rather than something that gets displayed - the display category is the one they already own ten of.
The pick: SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 - waterless, cordless, 6.9 cm, 10 hours a charge, scent trio included.
Honest note: it scents a space and does not humidify it, and it travels in hand baggage because of the battery.
Gifts for people who travel - at a glanceThey own the luggage. They do not own the room.Safar ₹3,999 - cordless, waterless, 6.9 cm, 10 hrs a chargeCar, handbag, work desk, hotel nightstandScent trio included · auto-off timer
A frequent traveller owns every object a suitcase can hold. What they do not own is a room that smells like theirs. SOSA Safar is a waterless, cordless, rechargeable cold-diffusion diffuser - 6.9 cm, Type-C, up to 10 hours a charge, with a 1/2/3-hour auto-off timer - for the car, the desk, the cabin bag and the hotel nightstand. Rs 3,999 with a scent trio included.
Straight answer
What do you actually give someone whose office is already full of gifts?
Change the category, not the budget. The shelf is full of monuments; it is almost never full of things with a consumable inside them.

The default: SOSA Safar at ₹3,999. A waterless, cordless, rechargeable cold-diffusion diffuser. 6.9 cm, 2000 mAh battery over Type-C, a 20ml bottle of pure fragrance oil with no water and no heat, three speeds and a 1, 2 or 3-hour auto-off timer, up to 10 hours continuous or 30 hours intermittent per charge. A named scent trio is in the box, so it is complete on the day it is opened. The reason it does not become an ornament is structural: the oil runs down, and something that runs down has to be used. The ₹4,499 version is the same device with the hotel-inspired trio.

If you want the consumable without the device. A 12ML attar trio at ₹3,189 is three full-size alcohol-free attars, and it is a gift that is entirely used rather than partly kept. A 130ML reed duo at ₹2,498 does the same job for an office rather than a suitcase.

If the number has to come down. A 3ML attar roll-on at ₹379 or a 15g solid perfume tin at ₹500. Small, alcohol-free, and finished rather than shelved.

One thing to check first: many companies cap the value of gifts their executives may accept, and some ban them outright. Ask, or assume the cap is low. And Safar is aroma only - it scents a space and does not add moisture to the air, so it is not an answer for dry air. Because it holds a rechargeable battery it belongs in hand baggage rather than checked luggage, and airline policy varies, so check with the carrier. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One line: the shelf is already full of things to look at, so buy the thing that gets used up.
For someone who travels, the starting point is SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 - waterless, cordless, 6.9 cm, up to 10 hours a charge, with a scent trio in the box. It works in the car, on a desk and on a hotel nightstand. If ₹3,999 is more than the occasion needs, a 3ML attar at ₹379 travels just as well.

Why gifts to chief executives end up as ornaments

Three reasons a gift to a chief executive ends up unused, and each of them is about the shape of the object rather than the size of the budget.

1
Monuments
A gift designed to be kept is a gift designed not to be used
Engraved crystal, desk clocks, plaques and framed certificates are built to commemorate a transaction. They succeed at that and fail at everything else, because a monument has no second day. Objects with a consumable inside them cannot fail the same way: the fragrance in a Safar bottle goes down, and when it goes down the person has to decide whether to refill it. That decision is the whole test of whether a gift landed, and a paperweight never gets to take it.
Tip: If the object has no second day, it is a monument rather than a gift.
2
Gift saturation
They have been given this category more than anyone you know
A chief executive receives gifts as a function of the role rather than the relationship - from vendors, partners, conference organisers, boards. The categories that arrive most often are the ones you should avoid entirely, and desk ornaments sit at the top of that list, with luggage and pens close behind. The rarest thing you can hand a person in that position is something that does a small job they had not thought about. Every room they sleep in smells of the same cleaning product, and nobody has ever offered to fix it.
3
Setup cost
A gift that needs their time is a gift that gets postponed
Anything requiring an account, an app, a wall socket in the right place, a water tank or twenty minutes of reading is competing for the scarcest thing this recipient has. It will be put in a drawer with the honest intention of dealing with it later, and later does not arrive. The working test is how many decisions stand between unwrapping and the first use. Here it is three: charge it over the Type-C cable they already own, pick a speed, set the timer. That is why cordless and waterless matter more than any specification on the box.
Tip: Count the decisions between unwrapping and first use. Three is fine. Ten is a drawer.
The SOSA principle
The competition for a gift to a chief executive is not other gifts. It is the shelf.
And nothing on that shelf gets used, which means the way to win is to buy from a category that cannot be shelved - something with a consumable inside it.

Choosing something that gets used up

Pick by what happens to the object six months later, not by what it looks like on the day.

The SOSA gift edit
What to give a chief executive, by what the object does next
Option Who it suits, and what it costs
Used, refilled, carried SOSA Safar at ₹3,999. Cordless, waterless, 6.9 cm, 10 hours a charge, scent trio in the box.
Entirely consumed, no device A 12ML attar trio at ₹3,189 - three full-size alcohol-free attars, nothing to keep once they are finished.
For an office rather than a trip A 130ML reed duo at ₹2,498, or a single 130ML reed diffuser at ₹1,349.
Under a strict gift-value policy A 3ML attar at ₹379 or a 15g solid tin at ₹500. Small enough that no declaration is a question.

If the recipient is a founder rather than a hired chief executive, the relationship is different enough to change the answer, and The founder handles that case. If you are buying for a whole leadership group rather than one person, Gifting a whole team covers the arithmetic of buying the same object several times over. The Safar page has the full specification.

Not sure what will land right?
Send us how they travel - road or air, hotels or one new home - what they already own, and your budget. If a product is the wrong shape for the gift, we will say so.

The SOSA gift edit

Every SOSA gift is alcohol-free, long-lasting and ready to hand over, handmade in small batches in India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is the edit by format, which is what decides how a gift reads.

The SOSA gift edit for a friend
Five answers by how the person actually travels - from a ₹379 attar to the ₹3,999 Safar
Gift Best for What it says, and what it costs From
SOSA Safar Anyone who travels · the default Waterless, cordless, rechargeable. 6.9 cm, 10 hrs a charge, auto-off timer. Car, bag, desk, hotel room. Scent trio included ₹3,999
SOSA Safar · hotel-inspired trio Someone who loves good hotels The same device with the hotel-inspired scent trio instead of the SOSA trio ₹4,499
Attar roll-on 3ML A smaller travel gift Alcohol-free oil, 3ML, goes anywhere - the compact gift when ₹3,999 is too much ₹379
Solid perfume tin 15g Someone who packs light Solid balm in a metal tin - cannot spill, not a liquid, survives a shared shelf ₹500
Reed diffuser 50ML Someone who is finally home For the person who has stopped travelling, or the flat they come back to ₹749

Four honest notes. SOSA Safar is aroma only - it scents a space and does not humidify it, so if someone wants moisture in dry air they want Boond or Sukoon instead. It has a built-in rechargeable battery, so it travels in hand baggage rather than checked luggage, and airline policies on devices with batteries vary - worth a check before a long trip. Reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil; the Hotel Collection is a separate water-based fragrance for ultrasonic mist diffusers, and the two are not interchangeable. The hotel-inspired scents are SOSA's own interpretations - SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

The hardest person to buy for is not someone with expensive taste. It is someone who travels constantly, because they have already solved every problem a gift usually solves. They own the luggage, the organisers, the adaptors, the neck pillow and the noise-cancelling headphones, and they bought better versions than you were going to.

What they do not own is the room. Somebody who spends a hundred nights a year in hotels spends those nights in rooms that smell of someone else's cleaning product - pleasant enough, anonymous, and never theirs. That is the one gap a suitcase cannot fill, and it is the reason we made Safar the way we did: waterless because water spills in a bag, cordless because hotel sockets are never where you need them, and small enough at 6.9 cm to stop being a decision about packing space.

Two things I will say plainly. It is aroma only - it scents a room, it does not add moisture to the air, and anyone who wants a humidifier should buy a humidifier. And it has an auto-off timer for a reason: a hotel room is borrowed space, and nothing should be left running in it while nobody is there. Use the timer, keep it on the low setting, and the room smells like theirs for the evening and like the hotel's again by checkout. A portion of every order supports girl-child education.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best travel gift for a CEO who flies frequently?
Something consumed rather than displayed, and small enough to travel. SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 is a waterless, cordless cold-diffusion diffuser, 6.9 cm, with a named scent trio included in the box. The fragrance inside it runs down, which is what stops it becoming another object on a shelf.
Why do corporate gifts to executives go unused?
Because most of them are ornamental. Engraved desk pieces, crystal and plaques are designed to be looked at, so they are kept rather than used. Anything with a consumable inside it has a different life: it gets opened, used and finished, and the person decides whether to buy more.
Is ₹3,999 an appropriate amount for a business gift at this level?
It is inside the band where a gift is clearly considered without creating an obligation. The real constraint is policy rather than taste: plenty of companies cap what their executives may accept, and some ban gifts entirely. Ask, or assume the cap is low and buy at ₹379 to ₹1,000 instead.
Is it a humidifier as well?
No. Safar is aroma only. It uses cold diffusion to scent a space and adds no moisture to the air. Anyone who wants humidity wants an ultrasonic mist diffuser instead, such as Sukoon at ₹1,899 or Boond at ₹899, and those are for a fixed room rather than a suitcase.
Can it be used in a hotel room?
That is one of the things it is sold for. It needs no socket where it sits and there is no water in it to spill. Use the 1, 2 or 3-hour timer and the low setting rather than leaving it running while nobody is in the room, and remember that not every property is happy about a guest scenting a room, so a light hand is the right one.
