Almost every housewarming list is written for the move - the boxes, the first meal cooked in an unfamiliar kitchen, the plant that turns up before the sofa does. That is not the event you are marking. Somebody who spent two years walking a site, chasing a carpenter through a third revision and deciding where a switch plate sits is not celebrating a change of address. They are marking the end of a process that finally has a finish date on it. A gift chosen for moving day misses that by about two years, which is why the shortlist has to start somewhere else entirely.
The gift for the end of the build rather than the start of the occupancy. SOSA Vaayu, ₹11,999 - waterless cold-air diffusion producing a dry residue-free mist, published for up to 1000 m3, about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, with a 400ml tank, app and button control, run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, adjustable intensity and operation under 38 dB. It comes with four 100 ml fragrances, so there is nothing further to buy on the day it is handed over.
Quick answers — read this first
What is a good gift for someone who spent years supervising the construction of their own house? Something that belongs to the finished house rather than to moving day. SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 is a waterless cold-air scent machine published for up to 1000 m3, about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, running under 38 dB with 1, 4, 8 or 24-hour run windows set from a Bluetooth app.
Is a fragrance gift sensible for a brand-new build? It is, with one caveat worth saying plainly. Fragrance adds a scent to a space. It does not remove or neutralise one, and a house still carrying paint and polish needs ventilation and time rather than a machine. Once the building smell has gone, scent is the one layer of that house nobody was retained to decide.
Does it need anything else bought alongside it? No. Every Vaayu comes with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, in one of three published four-scent sets, all at ₹11,999. Those blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations, and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. Later, waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 gm.
The short answer
Short answer: Buy for the finished house, not for the day the van arrives. A handover file lists every finish in that building and has no page for what the place smells like, which is the one gap left open to you. SOSA Vaayu is Rs 11,999 for up to about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, under 38 dB, and it comes complete with four 100 ml fragrances.
The pick: A SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 when the finished floor is genuinely one open volume - otherwise reed diffusers from ₹749, chosen room by room.
Why: It belongs to the finished state rather than to the move, it never appeared on anybody's drawing, it runs under 38 dB on a schedule instead of continuously, and there is nothing further to buy on day one.
A gift cannot change how somebody's week went, and a page that suggests otherwise is not worth reading. What a small parcel does is tell a person you were thinking about them on a day when nothing made you - which is a real thing to say, and worth saying. Keep it small, because a large one asks somebody already short of energy to produce a reaction, and send the words separately, because the object cannot carry them.
What do you give someone who spent years supervising the construction of their house, rather than simply moving into it?
Start by separating two occasions that get bundled together. A moving-in gift is aimed at an empty house filling up. A completion gift is aimed at a building that has finally stopped being a project. The second is the one being marked here, and it needs a different shortlist, because the house is not short of anything - it has just been through a snag list, a handover and a final payment, and everything on it was chosen twice. What it has never had is a decision about what it smells like. Structure, surfaces, joinery, lighting, sanitaryware and art each had a drawing, a budget line and somebody answerable for it. Scent had none of the three, and it appears on no handover document anywhere in India.SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 is the machine version of that layer: waterless cold-air diffusion producing a dry residue-free mist with no water and no heat, published for up to 1000 m3, stated on the product page as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, with a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app plus onboard buttons, run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours with day scheduling and adjustable intensity, operating under 38 dB on DC 12V / 1A at 5W. It measures 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm at 0.9 kg, comes in black or white, stands freestanding or goes wall and HVAC mounted, carries CE, RoHS and SGS marks, has India as its country of origin, and it comes with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances of 100 ml each. Two honest limits. A coverage rating assumes one connected body of air, so that figure describes an open finished floor and not a house whose internal doors stay shut. And fragrance adds a scent rather than removing, neutralising or purifying one, so a building still smelling of its own construction needs air and time instead. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
A moving-in gift is for the day the van leaves. This one is for the day the last workman does, and those are two genuinely different shopping lists.
Where this page lands: Vaayu at ₹11,999 when the finished ground floor is one connected volume - about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, under 38 dB, four 100 ml fragrances included.
Three things to sort out before you buy anything for the end of a build
Three questions, in this order. The first one costs nothing and is the one almost everybody skips, because it requires thinking about the occasion rather than about the object.
1
First
Which day is this gift actually for?
Two occasions hide inside the word housewarming and they call for opposite things. The move is about an empty house becoming usable - and the useful gifts there are practical and slightly disposable, because nothing has settled yet. The completion is about a two-year process ending. Nothing about it is practical. The building is finished, the snag list is closed, and the person you are buying for has spent those years being the client, the referee and occasionally the site supervisor.
That distinction decides the whole purchase. A completion gift that is useful reads as slightly beside the point, because usefulness was solved months ago. A completion gift that is decorative reads as a comment on decisions that were already made, twice, by two people who now hold strong views about them.
What is left is a narrow and genuinely open category: something the finished house does not yet have and never had a drawing for. Walk the handover file in your head - civil, electrical, plumbing, joinery, flooring, lighting, furniture, art. Every line had an owner. Scent had no line, no owner and no budget. It is the one thing you can add without standing on anybody's work.
Tip: Buy for the finished building, not for the day the van turns up outside it.
2
Second
How much of the finished floor is one connected volume?
This decides between a machine and bottles, and total floor area does not answer it. Vaayu publishes a coverage figure, which is unusual in home fragrance: up to 1000 m3, stated on the product page as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. Read it strictly rather than generously. A rating assumes one connected body of air.
So the test is physical. Stand where the front door opens and look. If the entrance runs into the living area, the living area runs into dining, and a stairwell rises out of it with nothing closed in between, that is one volume and it is exactly the case the figure describes - and it is also the case a small passive bottle cannot serve, because a bottle scents the couple of metres around itself and no further.
If instead the finished plan is a corridor with six doors that stay shut, the number does not transfer. That is six rooms, and the honest answer is reed diffusers from ₹749, or a duo set from ₹1,498, placed in the two or three rooms that actually get used. Cheaper, and correct. Note too that no guidance is published on what a second machine adds, so a very large connected floor is a conversation on WhatsApp rather than a sum you can do on a page.
3
Third
Four published details, and one the page will not settle
It is quiet, and it runs only when told to. Operation is published at under 38 dB, with control from a Bluetooth app or the buttons on the unit, run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, chosen days, adjustable intensity, auto-stop and a key-lock. In a house where somebody argued for weeks about how a double-height space would sound, a gift that hums would be a poor one, and a gift that runs all day in an empty building would be worse.
It is complete on the day it turns up. Four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances of 100 ml each come with it, so nothing further is needed to use it. After that, SOSA waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 gm and ₹1,849 for 300 gm. It takes alcohol-free, water-free oil made for cold-air diffusion; the water-based bottles elsewhere on the site belong to the ultrasonic machines and are a different fluid for a different device.
One thing to ask instead of assuming. The product page states the life of a 400ml fill in two different ways - about 75 days in its specification data and 90 or more in its body copy - and either way it follows the intensity setting and the scheduled hours. Ask on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 rather than planning around a figure. Also unpublished, and so not stated here: no warranty period, no installation service, no running cost.
And the caveat that matters most in a new build. A building that has just come out of works often carries paint, polish and new stone. Fragrance does not deal with that - it adds a scent rather than taking one away - and the honest remedy is ventilation and time. The dry residue-free mist is a statement about residue on surfaces, not about the air.
Tip: Ask what a fill actually lasts. The page says two different things, and asking is not rude.
Read the number strictly, not generously
About 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft - of air that is actually connected
Vaayu publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing in home fragrance does: up to 1000 m3, stated as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. The caveat matters more than the number. A rating assumes one connected body of air. A ground floor that runs living into dining into a stairwell is one volume and is exactly what the figure describes. A bungalow of the same total area with six closed doors is not one volume, it is six rooms, and the figure does not transfer. Work out how much of the house is genuinely open before you work out anything else - and note that no guidance is published on what a second unit adds.
How to settle this in about ten minutes, most of it on your feet
Decide which day this is for: the move, or the end of the building work.
Walk the finished floor and count the internal doors that stay open.
One connected volume points to a machine. Separate rooms point to reeds from Rs 749.
Ask on WhatsApp what a 400ml fill lasts before you plan around any number.
The SOSA principle
A completed building is signed off layer by layer, and every layer had a drawing, a budget line and somebody answerable for it. Scent had none of the three. That is the whole reason it is still open to a gift-giver, and the reason adding it cannot read as a comment on anybody's work.
It is worth holding on to before you compare two products, because it also explains why the cheaper answer is frequently the correct one in a house whose rooms are separated by doors that stay shut.
Which four-scent set, what comes with it, and what it runs on
Three published four-scent sets exist and all three are ₹11,999, so this is a taste decision rather than a budget one. They pair Ritz-Carlton with Westin, St. Regis and 1 Hotels inspirations; Westin with Shangri-La, Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton; and St. Regis with W Hotels, 1 Hotels and Four Seasons. Say what they are: SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations, composed by SOSA, and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. There is a real argument to weigh here. Somebody who lived in rented rooms and hotel rooms through a long build may associate that register with the years of not being home, and want the opposite now. Somebody else spent those years photographing lobbies and will recognise exactly what they are getting. You will not resolve that from a page, which is the honest case for the four 100 ml bottles being the gift: they give room to find out, and if none of the four suits, the waterless nebuliser oils at ₹1,049 for 100 gm are a small adjustment rather than an expensive one.
The SOSA gift edit
Four ways to spend this, and the point at which each one stops working
The option
Who it suits, and where it fails
SOSA Vaayu · ₹11,999
Up to about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, under 38 dB, run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours set from an app, and complete on arrival with four 100 ml fragrances. It stops working in a plan of closed rooms, where the coverage figure does not apply, and in a household where nobody will ever open an app.
A reed duo set · ₹1,498 to ₹2,598
Two bottles in one box, about 6 to 10 weeks, nothing to plug in and nothing to schedule. Correct for a finished house that is really a set of separate rooms, and for people who will not operate anything. It stops working in a large open volume, where a passive bottle reaches the area immediately around it.
A single reed diffuser · ₹749 to ₹1,349
The honest small gift, and genuinely right for one room - an entrance hall, a study, the guest room nobody has used yet. It stops working the moment it is asked to do a job three sizes too large, which is what happens when one bottle is bought for a wide open finished floor.
A keepsake with a date on it · any price
The instinctive answer to a completion, and the one this page argues against. It has to be displayed, which means it enters a scheme two people spent two years resolving, and it is judged against everything already in the room. It works only where you know their taste better than the evidence usually supports.
The two details that matter in a finished house
Under 38 dB, and it runs only when you tell it to
Two published details decide whether this belongs in a house somebody spent years on. It runs under 38 dB, which is the answer to the reasonable worry about a machine humming in a double-height living room. And it is scheduled: Bluetooth app plus onboard buttons, run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, chosen days and adjustable intensity, with auto-stop and a key-lock. That is what makes it workable in a house occupied for part of the year, or a room used only when people come over. It is 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, and it ships with four 100 ml fragrances - so it is complete on the day it arrives.
One note on the rest of the range, because a long build tends to push people upward. SOSA Meenar at ₹38,500 is published for 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft and is a commercial machine built for a hotel, a showroom or a corporate floor. For a house it is not the more generous choice, it is the wrong one, and it would look like a specification error to somebody who has just spent two years reading specifications. Below Vaayu, the ultrasonic machines - Boond at ₹899, Sukoon at ₹1,899 and Megh at ₹5,999 - are water-based, suit a single room, and need water and regular refilling, which is a weekly chore handed to somebody who did not choose the machine. SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 is the portable one and travels with a person to a car or a hotel room rather than scenting a property; it is imported rather than made in India. None of those is a worse product. They answer different questions, and the question here is a finished floor.
₹11,999. Up to 1000 m3, stated as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected volume. A 400ml tank, Bluetooth app plus onboard buttons, 1h/4h/8h/24h run windows and adjustable intensity. Under 38 dB.
165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, in black or white, freestanding on a surface or wall and HVAC mounted. DC 12V / 1A at 5W, with auto-stop and a key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS marks.
Every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, in one of three published four-scent sets. So it is complete on arrival, which matters more for a gift than it sounds.
four x 100 ml included
The number this whole decision turns on, and where it stops being true
Up to 1000 m3 - about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft - of connected air
SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing else in home fragrance does: up to 1000 m3, stated on the product page as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. It is a waterless cold-air machine producing a dry, residue-free mist with no water and no heat, running under 38 dB on DC 12V / 1A at 5W, with a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app and onboard button control, run windows of 1h, 4h, 8h or 24h, day scheduling and adjustable intensity, plus auto-stop and a key-lock. It is 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, in black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, CE, RoHS and SGS marked, and its country of origin is India. But a coverage rating assumes one connected body of air. That figure describes an open-plan living-dining floor, a duplex's main level, a double-height hall - the kind of volume a small passive bottle cannot reach. It does not describe a bungalow with every internal door closed, because that is not one volume; it is six. Above about 3,000 sq ft of genuinely connected space, or across separated wings, the honest answer is a conversation rather than a number, because no multi-unit guidance is published. SOSA Meenar at ₹38,500 is published for 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft and is a commercial machine rather than a house gift.
Tell SOSA who it is for, roughly how big the room is, whether their home is already scented and what you want to spend - and you will be told which size and which scent, including the times the honest answer is the 50ml rather than the 130ml.
The handover file lists every finish in that building, down to the grout. There is no page in it for what the place smells like, and that missing page is the only one you are allowed to write.

The SOSA gifting range
Two questions settle almost every reed diffuser gift, and the first one is not price. How big is the room it is going into? A 50ml suits a bedroom, a study, a hallway or a first diffuser; a 130ml suits an open-plan living and dining area, and it is genuinely too much for a small closed bedroom. Then: how much do you actually know about their taste? The less you know, the less declarative the scent should be - Morning Freshness is the safest of the five for a home you have never stood in, and Fresh Brew coffee-vanilla is the strongest opinion in the range. Price follows those two answers rather than leading them.
The SOSA range, sorted by how much air it is meant to handle
Up to 1000 m3, stated as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected volume - a 400ml tank, Bluetooth app and onboard buttons, 1h/4h/8h/24h scheduling, adjustable intensity, under 38 dB
Worn on the body rather than placed in a room - the right answer when the gift is about the person and not the house
from ₹379
A coverage rating assumes one connected body of air. Vaayu's figure describes an open-plan volume - a living-dining floor, a duplex's main level, a double-height hall. A house with every internal door shut is not one volume, and the figure does not transfer to it. Every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, and its country of origin is India. Fragrance adds a scent to a space; it does not remove, neutralise or purify one, and the dry residue-free mist is a statement about residue rather than about air quality. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and quantities are settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The honest spec sheet
What the Vaayu page publishes, and what it does not
Everything below is on the live product page. Anything not on this list is not something a page like this should state.
The machine - waterless cold-air diffusion, dry and residue-free, no water and no heat. 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm, 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted. DC 12V / 1A, 5W. Under 38 dB. Auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS. Country of origin India.
Control - a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app plus onboard buttons, run windows of 1h, 4h, 8h or 24h, day scheduling and adjustable intensity. This is what makes it workable in a house that is empty for stretches, or a room used only at weekends.
In the box - every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, in one of three published four-scent sets, all at ₹11,999. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand.
The fragrance - alcohol-free, water-free oils formulated for cold-air diffusion. SOSA waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 gm and ₹1,849 for 300 gm and are published for Vaayu and Safar. The water-based ultrasonic bottles belong to a different kind of machine.
Not published, and therefore never stated here: how long a 400ml fill lasts as a single figure - the page says about 75 days in one place and 90 or more in another; what a second unit adds; any warranty period, service interval or filter; any installation service; any app name, phone compatibility or Bluetooth range; and any running or electricity cost. Those go to WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
Not sure whether the house needs a machine or a bottle? Tell SOSA on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 four things: roughly how much of the ground floor is one connected open volume, whether the internal doors stay open or shut, how often the house is actually occupied, and what you want to spend. You will get one straight answer rather than a catalogue - including the times the honest answer is a reed diffuser from ₹749 or a duo set from ₹1,498 rather than a machine. What is not on this page, because SOSA does not publish it: what a second unit adds, any warranty period, any installation service, any running or electricity cost, and any app or Bluetooth compatibility detail. One thing to check before you buy: the Vaayu page states the life of a 400ml fill two different ways - about 75 days in one place and 90 or more in another - and it depends on intensity and scheduled hours in any case, so ask rather than plan around a number. Every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each; SOSA waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 gm and ₹1,849 for 300 gm. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; quantities and anything commercial are settled on WhatsApp rather than priced on a page. Bespoke composition, a fragrance composed for you by Sonal, is a real SOSA service and is also discussed there. Where SOSA is: an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India, with no shop, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city.

A note from Sonal
The messages I find hardest to answer are the ones that begin with an apology. They have just finished building the house. I don't want to sound cheap, but I also can't buy them anything that matters at that scale. And underneath it is a real anxiety: that after years of drawings and delays and site visits, whatever you turn up with will look like a token.
What I would say is that the anxiety is aimed at the wrong thing. You are not competing with the house. Nobody is. The people who built it spent two years choosing between four shades of the same stone, and there is no object you can hand over that will register on that scale. Trying is how people end up buying a vase that gets moved to a spare room.
The reason I keep coming back to scent for these particular houses is unromantic. It is the last layer, and it is the only one nobody planned. An architect resolves the volume, a designer resolves the surfaces, a lighting consultant resolves the evening, and then everybody stops - because scent is not on anybody's drawing. So it is one of the few things left that adds to a finished house without arguing with a single decision already made in it.
The part I would be careful about is the number. Vaayu publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing in home fragrance does, and I would rather you read it strictly than generously. About 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, of air that is actually connected. A ground floor that opens living into dining into a stairwell is that. A bungalow with six closed doors is not that, whatever its total square footage says on paper, and a page that blurs the two is doing you no favours.
Frequently asked questions
How much space does SOSA Vaayu actually cover?
The published figure is up to 1000 cubic metres, stated on the product page as approximately 2,000 to 3,000 square feet. Read it as one connected body of air rather than as a total built-up area: it describes an open finished floor or a double-height hall, not a plan whose rooms are separated by doors that stay shut. No guidance is published on what a second unit would add.
Will a machine be audible in a double-height living room?
SOSA publishes operation at under 38 dB. That is the figure on the product page, and it is the reason this is a workable gift for a house where somebody thought carefully about how a tall room sounds. Control is by Bluetooth app or the buttons on the unit, with run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, chosen days and adjustable intensity, plus auto-stop and a key-lock.
Can it do anything about the smell of a brand-new building?
No, and it is better to know that before buying. Fragrance adds a scent to a space. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify anything, and it does not clean the air. A building still carrying paint, polish or new stone needs ventilation and time. The dry, residue-free mist Vaayu produces is a statement about residue on surfaces, not about air quality.
How often will the tank need filling?
The tank is 400 ml and refillable, but the product page states its life two different ways - about 75 days in its specification data and 90 or more days in its body copy - and in either case it follows the intensity setting and how many hours a day it is scheduled to run. Ask SOSA on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 rather than planning around a single number.
Is there anything else to buy on the day it is given?
No. Every Vaayu comes with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances of 100 ml each, in one of three published four-scent sets, all at the same Rs 11,999. Afterwards, SOSA waterless nebuliser refills are Rs 1,049 for 100 gm and Rs 1,849 for 300 gm. It takes alcohol-free, water-free oils made for cold-air diffusion rather than the water-based bottles used by the ultrasonic machines.
Take the next step
Work out the occasion first, then walk the floor

About the coverage figure: a rating assumes one connected body of air. The published figure describes an open-plan volume such as a living-dining floor, a duplex's main level or a double-height hall, and does not describe a property whose rooms are separated by closed doors, whatever its total floor area. No guidance is published on what a second unit adds. About tank life: the Vaayu product page states the life of one 400 ml fill in two different ways - approximately 75 days in its specification and FAQ data, and 90 or more days in its body copy - and in either case it depends on the intensity setting and the scheduled hours, so no single figure is stated on this page. What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any warranty period, service interval or filter; any installation service; any app name, phone compatibility or Bluetooth range; any running or electricity cost; and any multi-unit coverage. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a space. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify odour, it does not clean the air, and no SOSA product makes any health, antibacterial or air-purifying claim; a dry residue-free mist is a statement about residue and not about air quality. No claim is made anywhere on this page about mood, stress, calm, sleep or wellbeing, nor about how any recipient or guest will feel, nor about what a gift does for any business result. No page here characterises any recipient's wealth or describes people who own particular kinds of property; where a property value appears it is the figure the reader themselves supplied as context. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city.
