The setup that worked in the apartment has not got worse. It has stayed exactly the same, which is the problem. A passive bottle reaches about as far as it ever did - a couple of metres of still air around itself - and in a flat that was most of the living room, while in a bungalow hall it is a small island in a large volume. So the honest answer is not that the old setup failed. It is that the room changed categories and the source did not.
SOSA Vaayu waterless cold-air scent machine, Rs 11,999
SOSA Vaayu · up to 1000 m3 · under 38 dB ₹11,999 →
The machine specified by volume rather than by proximity. SOSA Vaayu, ₹11,999 - waterless cold-air diffusion giving a dry residue-free mist, published for up to 1000 m3, about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, a 400ml tank, app and onboard button control, 1, 4, 8 or 24-hour run windows, adjustable intensity, under 38 dB, and four 100 ml fragrances in the box.
Quick answers — read this first
Does a fragrance setup need changing after moving from an apartment to a bungalow? Usually yes, because reach is a property of the source rather than of the room. A passive bottle scents the air immediately around it, which covered most of a flat's living room and covers a fraction of a large hall. SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 is published for up to 1000 m3, about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, which is the figure written for a volume of that kind.

Is buying more bottles the same as buying a machine? Not in one open volume. Several passive bottles give you several small areas rather than one scented room, because each of them still works over the distance it always did. Where the house is a set of closed rooms, more bottles genuinely is the right answer, and reed diffusers from ₹749 are passive, about 6 to 10 weeks, with nothing to run.

How does a machine handle a double-height living room? By volume rather than by floor area. The published rating is up to 1000 cubic metres, and it assumes one connected body of air, so a double-height hall that opens into dining and a stairwell is the case it describes. It runs under 38 dB, which matters when a large hall is quiet, and it is scheduled in windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours.
The short answer
Short answer: Yes, usually. Reach is a property of the source, not of the room, so a passive bottle that covered an apartment living room covers a fraction of a bungalow hall. SOSA Vaayu is Rs 11,999 and published for up to 1000 cubic metres, stated as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, on the condition that the air is connected. Reed diffusers from Rs 749 stay right for rooms that close off.
The pick: A SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 for the new open volume, with reed diffusers from ₹749 kept on for the bedrooms and study that close off.
Why: The machine is rated for a connected volume rather than for a surface it stands on, it runs under 38 dB in a hall that is quiet, and the bottles carry on doing the job they were always good at in smaller closed rooms.
Sending something when somebody is having a hard time - at a glanceKeep it small - candle ₹399, attar ₹379, car scent ₹449For their home - reed diffuser ₹749, nothing to switch onSay the words yourself - no card goes in the parcelNever - a parcel instead of turning up
A gift cannot change how somebody's week went, and a page that suggests otherwise is not worth reading. What a small parcel does is tell a person you were thinking about them on a day when nothing made you - which is a real thing to say, and worth saying. Keep it small, because a large one asks somebody already short of energy to produce a reaction, and send the words separately, because the object cannot carry them.
Straight answer
They have moved from an apartment to a bungalow and the living room has doubled. Does the fragrance setup that worked before still work?
Separate two things that get confused. A reed diffuser has a reach, and that reach does not scale with the room it stands in. It works over the still air immediately around itself, which in an apartment was a large share of the living room and in a bungalow hall is a small part of it. Nothing about the bottle has degraded. The denominator changed. So the question is not whether to replace the setup but whether to add a source that is specified by volume instead of by proximity. SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 is specified that way: waterless cold-air diffusion producing a dry residue-free mist with no water and no heat, published for up to 1000 m3, stated on the page as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, with a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app and onboard buttons, run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours with day scheduling and adjustable intensity, under 38 dB, DC 12V / 1A at 5W, 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, CE, RoHS and SGS marked, made in India, and supplied with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances of 100 ml each. Read the coverage line with its condition attached, because the condition does all the work: a rating of that kind assumes one connected body of air. A hall that opens into dining with a stairwell above it is one volume. The same floor area behind closed doors is not, and there the passive bottles stay the right answer, room by room. No guidance is published on what a second machine adds, so a connected volume larger than that band is a WhatsApp conversation. And fragrance adds a scent: it does not remove, neutralise or purify one, and the residue-free mist is a statement about residue on surfaces rather than about air quality. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The bottle did not get weaker. It is doing the same job over the same distance, in a room that is now several times that distance across.
For the new volume: Vaayu at ₹11,999, published for up to about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, under 38 dB, scheduled in 1, 4, 8 or 24-hour windows on chosen days.

What changes when the room gets bigger, and what does not change at all

Three things to work through, and the middle one is the only place a number is published at all.

1
What did not change
Reach belongs to the source, not to the room
A passive diffuser is driven by evaporation into the still air touching it. That gives it a working distance, and that distance is a property of the bottle: it was the same on the fifteenth floor of a flat and it is the same on the ground floor of a bungalow.

In the flat, that working distance was a large fraction of the living room, which is why the setup read as successful. It was never scenting the room as a room. It was scenting its own neighbourhood, and its own neighbourhood happened to be most of the room.

This is worth being precise about because it changes what the fix is. Buying two more of the same bottle in a large hall gives you three neighbourhoods, not one scented hall. In a plan of separate rooms that is exactly what you want, which is why reed diffusers from ₹749 and duo sets from ₹1,498 remain the right answer for bedrooms, a study and a guest room. In one large connected volume it is the wrong shape of answer.

The bottles they already have are not a mistake. They have simply been moved into a building where their strength is a limitation.
Tip: Three bottles in a large hall give three small areas, not one scented room.
2
What the number says
Up to 1000 m3, and the condition attached to it
Vaayu is one of the very few home fragrance products with a published coverage figure: up to 1000 m3, stated on the product page as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. That number is the reason this page can answer the question rather than guess at it.

The condition is the half that gets dropped, and it is the half that matters. A coverage rating of that kind assumes one connected body of air. It describes a hall that runs into dining with a stairwell open above it, or a double-height living space with nothing closed between it and the rest of the floor. It does not describe a plan of the same total area with every internal door shut, because that is not one volume, it is a list of rooms.

So the test in the new house is a walk rather than a calculation. Stand at the entrance. Note every point where a door would normally be closed. Whatever is open and continuous from there is the volume you are scenting, and if it reads as one space up to that published band, the machine is specified for it.

Height counts, which is exactly why the cubic figure is the more honest of the two. A double-height hall eats volume that a floor-area number hides. And nothing is published about what a second machine adds, so anything beyond that band goes to WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531.
3
What a bigger room demands
Quiet, scheduled, and complete on arrival
A large room is a quiet room, and that raises the bar on the machine. Vaayu is published at under 38 dB. In a hall with hard floors and a lot of air, anything audible would be a permanent presence, so this is the specification line that decides whether a machine belongs in a room like that at all.

Scheduling does the rest. Control is a Bluetooth app or the buttons on the unit, with run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, chosen days and adjustable intensity, plus auto-stop and a key-lock. A doubled living room is often used in bursts - evenings, weekends, when the family is over - and a window set to those hours is a better match than anything running continuously. The buttons matter too, because it means the app is not the only way to change it.

It arrives complete, with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, in the box. Afterwards, SOSA waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 gm and ₹1,849 for 300 gm; it takes alcohol-free, water-free oil made for cold-air diffusion, and the water-based bottles on the site belong to the ultrasonic machines. On the 400ml tank, the page says two different things - about 75 days in its specification data and 90 or more in its body copy - and it depends on intensity and scheduled hours anyway. There is no published installation service, no warranty period and no running-cost figure.
Tip: A larger room does not need a louder machine. It needs one rated by volume and quiet enough to forget.
SOSA Vaayu, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted
Read the number strictly, not generously
About 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft - of air that is actually connected
Vaayu publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing in home fragrance does: up to 1000 m3, stated as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. The caveat matters more than the number. A rating assumes one connected body of air. A ground floor that runs living into dining into a stairwell is one volume and is exactly what the figure describes. A bungalow of the same total area with six closed doors is not one volume, it is six rooms, and the figure does not transfer. Work out how much of the house is genuinely open before you work out anything else - and note that no guidance is published on what a second unit adds.

Work it out in this order
How to check this in ten minutes, standing in the new hall
  1. Remember that reach comes from the source. The bottle works over the same distance.
  2. Stand at the entrance and see how far you can see with nothing closed between.
  3. If that reads as one volume, the published band is up to about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft.
  4. Keep the old bottles for the bedrooms and study, where they were always right.
The SOSA principle
A fragrance setup is not rated by the size of the room it is standing in. It is rated by the distance the source works over, which is why moving into a larger house makes a working setup look like a failing one without anything about it changing.
Understanding that is what stops a household buying six more bottles for a hall and concluding that home fragrance does not work in large rooms.

The sets, the box, and the oil a waterless machine takes

There are three published four-scent sets and all cost the same ₹11,999, so the choice is taste rather than budget. They pair Ritz-Carlton with Westin, St. Regis and 1 Hotels inspirations; Westin with Shangri-La, Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton; and St. Regis with W Hotels, 1 Hotels and Four Seasons. To be clear about what that means: these are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations, composed by SOSA, and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. A larger volume is also a reason to start on lower intensity rather than a stronger blend. Intensity is adjustable and the run window is short at its shortest, so the sensible first week is one hour a day on a low setting, adjusted from there. Four 100 ml bottles give room for that experiment, and the waterless nebuliser oils at ₹1,049 for 100 gm cover a change of mind afterwards.

The SOSA gift edit
Four ways to answer a doubled living room, and where each one stops
The option Who it suits, and where it fails
SOSA Vaayu · ₹11,999 Rated by volume rather than by proximity: up to 1000 m3, published as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, under 38 dB, run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours on chosen days. It stops being the answer the moment the floor is a plan of closed doors rather than one continuous space.
More reed diffusers · ₹749 to ₹1,349 each Passive, about 6 to 10 weeks, nothing to run, and still exactly right for the bedrooms, study and guest room. In one large hall they give several small areas instead of one, because each bottle keeps the working distance it always had, whatever room it is placed in.
An ultrasonic machine · ₹899 to ₹5,999 Boond, Sukoon and Megh are water-based and suit a single room or a small area. In a doubled living room they are under-specified, and they need water topped up regularly, so the household takes on a standing chore for a result the room is too large to show.
SOSA Meenar · ₹38,500 Published for 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft: a hotel lobby, a showroom, a corporate floor. A doubled living room is nowhere near that band, so this is not the ambitious answer to a large hall, it is a machine specified for a different type of building altogether.

The two details that matter in a finished house
Under 38 dB, and it runs only when you tell it to
Two published details decide whether this belongs in a house somebody spent years on. It runs under 38 dB, which is the answer to the reasonable worry about a machine humming in a double-height living room. And it is scheduled: Bluetooth app plus onboard buttons, run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, chosen days and adjustable intensity, with auto-stop and a key-lock. That is what makes it workable in a house occupied for part of the year, or a room used only when people come over. It is 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, and it ships with four 100 ml fragrances - so it is complete on the day it arrives.
See the nebuliser refills from ₹1,049 →

One more distinction worth making, because moving house rearranges what each product is for. SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 and ₹4,499 is cordless and portable, and it goes with a person into a car or a hotel room rather than scenting a property; it is imported rather than made in India. Attars from ₹379 are worn, not placed. Candles from ₹399 need a flame and somebody to light them, and SOSA publishes no burn figure. A single reed diffuser at ₹749 in 50 ml or ₹1,249 in 130 ml remains the most useful object in a house of separate rooms. The move has not made any of them worse; it has changed which rooms each one is correct for, and a large connected hall is the one room in the new house that none of them was specified for.

Up to 1000 m3 - about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft - of connected air
SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing else in home fragrance does: up to 1000 m3, stated on the product page as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. It is a waterless cold-air machine producing a dry, residue-free mist with no water and no heat, running under 38 dB on DC 12V / 1A at 5W, with a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app and onboard button control, run windows of 1h, 4h, 8h or 24h, day scheduling and adjustable intensity, plus auto-stop and a key-lock. It is 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, in black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, CE, RoHS and SGS marked, and its country of origin is India. But a coverage rating assumes one connected body of air. That figure describes an open-plan living-dining floor, a duplex's main level, a double-height hall - the kind of volume a small passive bottle cannot reach. It does not describe a bungalow with every internal door closed, because that is not one volume; it is six. Above about 3,000 sq ft of genuinely connected space, or across separated wings, the honest answer is a conversation rather than a number, because no multi-unit guidance is published. SOSA Meenar at ₹38,500 is published for 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft and is a commercial machine rather than a house gift.

The SOSA gifting range

Two questions settle almost every reed diffuser gift, and the first one is not price. How big is the room it is going into? A 50ml suits a bedroom, a study, a hallway or a first diffuser; a 130ml suits an open-plan living and dining area, and it is genuinely too much for a small closed bedroom. Then: how much do you actually know about their taste? The less you know, the less declarative the scent should be - Morning Freshness is the safest of the five for a home you have never stood in, and Fresh Brew coffee-vanilla is the strongest opinion in the range. Price follows those two answers rather than leading them.

A coverage rating assumes one connected body of air. Vaayu's figure describes an open-plan volume - a living-dining floor, a duplex's main level, a double-height hall. Every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, and its country of origin is India. The honest spec sheet
What the Vaayu page publishes, and what it does not
Everything below is on the live product page. Anything not on this list is not something a page like this should state.
  • Coverage - up to 1000 m3, published as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. A rating assumes one connected body of air, so it describes an open-plan floor rather than a house of closed rooms.
  • The machine - waterless cold-air diffusion, dry and residue-free, no water and no heat. 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm, 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted. DC 12V / 1A, 5W. Under 38 dB. Auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS. Country of origin India.
  • Control - a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app plus onboard buttons, run windows of 1h, 4h, 8h or 24h, day scheduling and adjustable intensity. This is what makes it workable in a house that is empty for stretches, or a room used only at weekends.
  • In the box - every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, in one of three published four-scent sets, all at ₹11,999. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand.
  • The fragrance - alcohol-free, water-free oils formulated for cold-air diffusion. SOSA waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 gm and ₹1,849 for 300 gm and are published for Vaayu and Safar. The water-based ultrasonic bottles belong to a different kind of machine.
  • Not published, and therefore never stated here: how long a 400ml fill lasts as a single figure - the page says about 75 days in one place and 90 or more in another; what a second unit adds; any warranty period, service interval or filter; any installation service; any app name, phone compatibility or Bluetooth range; and any running or electricity cost. Those go to WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.

A note from Sonal

The messages I find hardest to answer are the ones that begin with an apology. They have just finished building the house. I don't want to sound cheap, but I also can't buy them anything that matters at that scale. And underneath it is a real anxiety: that after years of drawings and delays and site visits, whatever you turn up with will look like a token.

What I would say is that the anxiety is aimed at the wrong thing. You are not competing with the house. Nobody is. The people who built it spent two years choosing between four shades of the same stone, and there is no object you can hand over that will register on that scale. Trying is how people end up buying a vase that gets moved to a spare room.

The reason I keep coming back to scent for these particular houses is unromantic. It is the last layer, and it is the only one nobody planned. An architect resolves the volume, a designer resolves the surfaces, a lighting consultant resolves the evening, and then everybody stops - because scent is not on anybody's drawing. So it is one of the few things left that adds to a finished house without arguing with a single decision already made in it.

The part I would be careful about is the number. Vaayu publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing in home fragrance does, and I would rather you read it strictly than generously. About 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, of air that is actually connected. A ground floor that opens living into dining into a stairwell is that. A bungalow with six closed doors is not that, whatever its total square footage says on paper, and a page that blurs the two is doing you no favours.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need to replace the reed diffusers after moving to a bigger house?
Not replace, redistribute. A passive bottle works over the still air around it, so it still does exactly what it did in the flat. Keep those bottles in the bedrooms, study and guest room, where the distances suit them, and treat the large open hall as a separate problem that a bottle was never specified to solve.
What area does SOSA Vaayu cover?
The published figure is up to 1000 cubic metres, stated on the product page as approximately 2,000 to 3,000 square feet. The condition matters more than the number: a rating of that kind assumes one connected body of air, such as a hall running into dining with a stairwell above it. No guidance is published on what a second unit would add.
Will it work in a double-height room?
A double-height space is why the cubic figure is the more useful of the two published numbers, because height adds volume that a floor-area figure hides. Up to 1000 cubic metres is the stated rating, assuming the space is continuous with whatever adjoins it. If the volume is larger than that band, ask SOSA on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531.
Is it audible in a large empty hall?
It is published as operating under 38 dB. A large hall with hard surfaces is quiet, so this is the specification line worth checking before putting any machine in one. It also does not run continuously unless told to: the run windows are 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours on chosen days, set from a Bluetooth app or from the buttons on the unit.
Will a stronger fragrance fix a room that feels too large for the old setup?
Strength is not the variable that changed; distance is. A bottle with a more intense oil in it still works over the air touching it. What a large connected volume needs is a source specified for that volume, and then intensity dialled down rather than up, because Vaayu's intensity is adjustable and a short daily window is usually the sensible starting point.

About the coverage figure: a rating assumes one connected body of air. The published figure describes an open-plan volume such as a living-dining floor, a duplex's main level or a double-height hall, and does not describe a property whose rooms are separated by closed doors, whatever its total floor area. No guidance is published on what a second unit adds. About tank life: the Vaayu product page states the life of one 400 ml fill in two different ways - approximately 75 days in its specification and FAQ data, and 90 or more days in its body copy - and in either case it depends on the intensity setting and the scheduled hours, so no single figure is stated on this page. What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any warranty period, service interval or filter; any installation service; any app name, phone compatibility or Bluetooth range; any running or electricity cost; and any multi-unit coverage. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a space. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify odour, it does not clean the air, and no SOSA product makes any health, antibacterial or air-purifying claim; a dry residue-free mist is a statement about residue and not about air quality. No claim is made anywhere on this page about mood, stress, calm, sleep or wellbeing, nor about how any recipient or guest will feel, nor about what a gift does for any business result. No page here characterises any recipient's wealth or describes people who own particular kinds of property; where a property value appears it is the figure the reader themselves supplied as context. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city.
