An architecture or project-consulting firm presents in a particular kind of room: a long table, drawings unrolled across it, a board of material samples, a model under a lamp, six people and a projector for two hours. That room should carry nothing placed inside it. Whatever fragrance the studio has lives at reception, and the presentation room inherits a trace through the door - which is exactly the right amount.
Quick answers — read this first
Should an architecture or project-consulting firm scent its client presentation room? Not directly. Nothing is placed inside the presentation room - no reed, no diffuser. It is a closed room where several people sit for two hours over drawings, samples and a model, and a closed room over-scents in minutes and then holds it. The studio's fragrance lives at reception; the corridor carries a trace on the AC; the presentation room inherits that trace when its door opens, and that is the correct amount.

Why not scent the room itself, at a low level? Three reasons. A closed room with people and a projector in it warms up and concentrates whatever is in the air, so 'low' becomes 'noticeable' by the second hour. The material samples on the table - stone, timber, fabric, finishes - are what the client should be meeting, and a fragrance in the room competes with them. And a client deciding on a project should not spend two hours inside somebody's fragrance choice. SOSA makes no claim about what any fragrance does to any sample; the point is simply that the samples come first.

So where does the source go, and what is it? On the reception wall, away from the entrance door, away from the AC returns and away from the mouth of the corridor that leads to the presentation room. One SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 for a connected studio floor of about 1,500-3,000 sq ft, set low, on a timer, key-locked; a Mountain Breeze reed at Rs 849 or Morning Freshness reed at Rs 749 on the reception sideboard for a smaller studio. Dry cedar and tea in a studio of wood and paper; lemon-mint in a white, glass one.
The short answer
Short answer: not directly. Nothing is placed inside the presentation room - it is a closed room where several people spend two hours over drawings, samples and a model, and it over-scents in minutes. The reception carries the studio's one source; the corridor carries a trace; the presentation room inherits that trace through the door.
The pick: one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) on the reception wall for a connected studio floor of about 1,500-3,000 sq ft, set low and locked; a Mountain Breeze reed (₹849) or Morning Freshness reed (₹749) on the reception sideboard for a smaller studio. Nothing in the presentation room.
Next step: send a floor plan with the reception, the presentation room, the corridor between them and the AC returns marked, and we will place the one source honestly - ask for a Bhopal scenting plan.

Straight answer
Should an architecture, infrastructure or project-consulting firm in Bhopal scent its client presentation room?
Not directly, and the reasons are all in what the room is for. A presentation room in a design or project-consulting studio is a long table under a good lamp, drawings unrolled and weighted at the corners, a board of material samples - stone, timber, fabric, finishes - a model, a projector, and several people for two hours with the door shut. Three things follow. First, a closed room over-scents. Put any source inside it - a reed on the credenza, a small diffuser in the corner - and within minutes the fragrance is the most present thing in the room; add the warmth of six people and a projector, and by the second hour a level that was "low" at the start is what everyone is breathing. Second, the samples. The client is in that room to meet materials with their eyes and their hands - to hold the stone against the timber, to run a thumb over a finish - and a fragrance in the room is a second voice talking over the first. SOSA makes no claim about what any fragrance does or does not do to any sample, and no claim is needed; the point is only that the samples come first and the air should get out of their way. Third, the client is deciding something large in that room, and a person doing that should not spend two hours inside somebody else's fragrance choice. So the presentation room carries nothing placed inside it, and the studio's one source lives at reception. That is a placement decision, and placement is most of this page. The source goes on the reception wall: away from the entrance door, because a door exchanges its air every time it opens and a source beside it is spent on the street; away from the AC returns, which would pull the fragrance straight out of the room before it had settled; and away from the mouth of the corridor that leads to the presentation room, because a source at a corridor's head pushes a stronger trace down it than you want. From the reception the AC carries a trace along the corridor, and when the presentation room's door opens, the room inherits that trace - noticed for a moment on entry, gone from attention once the drawings are out. That is the correct amount, and it is the only amount a presentation room should ever have. One routine helps: open the presentation room's door for a while before a long meeting, so the room starts on the studio's air rather than on whatever it was sealed with overnight. The register follows the studio's materials. In a studio of timber, paper and concrete, dry cedar, sage and a little tea, the family the room already belongs to; in a white, glass-and-steel studio, a clean lemon-and-mint. Nothing sweet, warm or floral, and no oud - which SOSA does not make for the home, and which would be what the client remembers instead of the scheme. The level is set for the staff who sit at reception all day and judged from the far chair at the end of the afternoon. What to buy follows the connected floor. For a studio of about 1,500-3,000 sq ft with reception, corridor and rooms off it in one air-conditioned volume, one SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 on the reception wall: waterless, so nothing settles on drawings, models or screens; a 1h/4h/8h/24h timer for studio hours; adjustable intensity set low; a key-lock so nobody turns it up before a client presentation, which is the one moment somebody will be tempted to. For a smaller studio, one Mountain Breeze reed at ₹849 or a Morning Freshness reed at ₹749 on the reception sideboard, and nothing else. The plotter room, the model workshop and the pantry are not in the plan; they are source-smell and ventilation questions, and fragrance over a source smell makes a third smell. Through all of it, fragrance is an interiors decision, like the lamp over the table. SOSA makes no claim that it changes what any client decides, pays or thinks of the firm, and no claim that it creates trust; the scheme on the table does that or does not. Can a signature scent unify reception, boardroom and executive rooms is this page's rule applied across a whole floor, and how architects plan machine placement before completion puts the wall, the socket and the AC path on the drawing at design stage. Ask for a Bhopal scenting plan with your floor plan and we will mark the one wall the source belongs on.
Not directly. Nothing is placed inside the presentation room - a closed room with people, a projector and material samples over-scents in minutes, and the samples are what the client should be meeting. The studio's one source sits on the reception wall, away from the door, the returns and the corridor mouth; the room inherits a trace through its door. Vaayu (Rs 11,999) for a connected floor; a reed for a small studio.
For a connected studio floor of roughly 1,500-3,000 sq ft, one SOSA Vaayu on the reception wall - waterless, 1000m³, timer and key-lock - at ₹11,999 is the whole installation. The presentation room inherits a trace and has nothing placed inside it.

No water, so nothing settles on drawings, models or screens; a 1h/4h/8h/24h timer for studio hours; adjustable intensity held low; a key-lock so that a client presentation never becomes a reason to turn it up; under 38dB; wall or HVAC mount, which is what lets you put the source on the correct wall rather than wherever there is a shelf.

SOSA Mountain Breeze Reed Diffuser
Himalayan pine, sage and Indian cedar - the driest register SOSA makes, in the family of timber, paper and concrete. Why the presentation room carries nothing, and where the source goes

Five placement decisions. The first three are about the room that carries nothing; the last two are about the one wall that carries the source.

1
The closed room
Six people, a projector and a shut door concentrate whatever is in the air
A presentation room is sealed for the length of the meeting, and it warms: the people, the projector, the lamp over the table. Warm, still air makes any fragrance read stronger, and a closed room has nowhere for it to go. So a source placed inside - even a single reed on the credenza - is at "noticeable" within minutes and at "the main thing in the room" by the second hour, when the client is trying to concentrate on a cost plan. The same is true of every small closed room in a studio: the principals' rooms, the small meeting room, the quiet room. None of them carries a source. All of them inherit a trace through the door, and that is enough.
Test: sit in the presentation room with the door shut for an hour with any source inside it. You will not do it twice.
2
The samples and drawings
The client is there to meet materials - the air should get out of their way
A design presentation is a physical thing. The client holds the stone against the timber, runs a thumb over a finish, leans over the model, unrolls the next sheet. That is the whole point of doing it in a room rather than on a screen, and it is why the room's air should be the studio's own with nothing added. A fragrance in the room is a second voice talking over the first. SOSA makes no claim about what any fragrance does or does not do to stone, timber, fabric or any finish, and no such claim is needed: the rule is simply that the samples come first and nothing competes with them. The same goes for a scale model under a lamp.
Rule: if a room exists so that a client can touch things, nothing is placed in it.
3
The door-open routine
Start a long meeting on the studio's air, not on last night's
A presentation room sealed overnight with the AC off smells of itself in the morning - the carpet, the projector, the coffee cups from yesterday - and no fragrance fixes that; it joins it. The routine is free: open the presentation room's door for a while before a long meeting, so the room starts on the studio's air, with the trace from reception already in it. In Bhopal's hot months, with the AC running continuously, the same routine keeps the room from starting stale; in the cool, sealed months it is the only thing that clears it. Fresh air first, in every season, and then whatever drifts in from reception is the right amount.
Routine: door open for a while before every presentation; cups and plates out the night before, not the morning of.
4
The reception wall
Away from the entrance door, away from the returns, away from the corridor mouth
The one source lives at reception, and where on the reception wall matters more than which machine. Not beside the entrance door, because a door exchanges its air every time it opens and a source beside it is spent on the stairwell. Not near an AC return, which would pull the fragrance out of the room before it had settled. And not at the head of the corridor to the presentation room, because a source at a corridor's mouth pushes a stronger trace down it than you want the room to inherit. The Vaayu wall-mounts, which is what lets you put it on the correct wall rather than on whichever shelf happens to be free; a reed simply sits on the sideboard furthest from the door.
Rule: mark the entrance door, the returns and the corridor mouth on the plan; the source goes on the wall furthest from all three.
5
The rooms that are not in the plan
Plotter, model workshop, pantry - source smells, not fragrance questions
A studio has rooms that smell of what happens in them: the plotter room, the model workshop with its glues and sprays, the pantry. None of them is a fragrance question. Fragrance over a source smell does not cover it; it makes a third smell that is worse than either. Those rooms are ventilation and separation problems - extractor on, door shut, the workshop's air not shared with reception - and they are solved before anything on this page applies. How a consulting reception feels established, not flashy covers the same "nothing wrong first" rule for the front of house.
Rule: if the reception smells of the workshop, fix the door and the extractor. The fragrance waits.

The SOSA principle
A presentation room exists so that a client can touch materials and read drawings. The air in it should be the studio's own, with a trace of reception and nothing placed inside.
One source, on the reception wall, away from the door, the returns and the corridor mouth. The rooms inherit; none of them carries.
SOSA Vaayu
One source on the reception wall, the rooms inherit: SOSA Vaayu, ₹11,999, waterless, wall-mounted, timer and key-lock, up to 1000m³ of connected studio floor.

Zone by zone in a design or consulting studio

The presentation room

Nothing placed inside. Small closed rooms over-scent in minutes; each inherits a trace through its door.
Plotter room, model workshop, pantry
Not in the plan. Source smells - extractor on, door shut, air not shared with reception. Fragrance over them makes a third smell.

The pages this one leans on: can a signature scent unify reception, boardroom and executive rooms is the same reception-source rule across a whole floor, whether scenting is appropriate for a regulatory advisory office sets the standard for a firm read carefully, and how a consulting reception feels established, not flashy covers the front of house. Through all of them, SOSA makes no claim that fragrance changes what any client decides, pays or thinks of the firm, and no claim about what it does to any sample or finish.

A note from Sonal

Studios are among my favourite premises to plan, because the people who run them already think in plans. They send me a drawing with the reception, the corridor and the presentation room on it, and the conversation is short: the presentation room carries nothing, the source goes on the reception wall furthest from the door, the returns and the corridor mouth, and the room inherits a trace through its door. I have never had an architect argue with that once they have sat in a sealed presentation room for an hour with a reed in it.

The reason I care about the presentation room is what happens in it. A client is holding a stone sample against a piece of timber, leaning over a model, unrolling a sheet. That is the whole point of doing it in a room, and the air should get out of the way of it. I make no claim about what fragrance does or does not do to any sample - I do not need to; the samples simply come first. On a full studio floor the source is one Vaayu wall-mounted where the plan says, low and locked. In a small studio it is a Mountain Breeze reed on the far sideboard, and nothing else.

And the frame: SOSA makes no claim that fragrance changes what any client decides, pays or thinks of the firm, and no claim that it creates trust - the scheme on the table does that, or does not. It is an interiors decision, like the lamp. Made in Pune, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Why should nothing be placed inside a project-consulting firm's presentation room?
Because it is a closed room where several people and a projector spend two hours with the door shut. Warm, still air makes any fragrance read stronger and a sealed room has nowhere for it to go, so even a single reed inside is noticeable within minutes and the main thing in the room by the second hour. The presentation room inherits a trace from the reception source through its door, and that is the whole of what it should carry.
Does fragrance in a presentation room interfere with material samples on the table?
SOSA makes no claim about what any fragrance does or does not do to stone, timber, fabric or any finish, and no such claim is needed. The rule is simpler: the client is in that room to meet materials with their eyes and hands, and a fragrance in the room is a second voice talking over the first. The samples come first, the air gets out of their way, and the room carries nothing placed inside it.
Where exactly on the reception wall should a studio's one scent source go?
On the wall furthest from three things: the entrance door, which exchanges its air every time it opens; the AC returns, which would pull the fragrance out of the room before it settles; and the mouth of the corridor to the presentation room, because a source at a corridor's head pushes a stronger trace down it than the room should inherit. The SOSA Vaayu wall-mounts, which is what lets it sit on the correct wall rather than a convenient shelf.
What should a design studio do before a long client presentation, air-wise?
Open the presentation room's door for a while beforehand so the room starts on the studio's air rather than on whatever it was sealed with overnight - carpet, projector, yesterday's cups - with the trace from reception already in it. Clear cups and plates the night before. In Bhopal's hot months with continuous AC this keeps the room from starting stale; in the cool, sealed months it is the only thing that clears it. No fragrance fixes a stale room; it joins it.
Which register suits an architecture or infrastructure consulting studio in Bhopal?
It follows the studio's materials. In a studio of timber, paper and concrete, the dry family the room already belongs to: cedar, sage and a little tea - Mountain Breeze in the SOSA range, Rs 849 for a 50ml reed. In a white, glass-and-steel studio, a clean lemon-and-mint - Morning Freshness at Rs 749. Either can be carried across a full floor by a SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999. Nothing sweet, warm or floral, and no oud.
