Five Sukoons ₹9,495 covers a whole 4BHK · a Vaayu is ₹11,999 and covers one zone Waterless, neat oil — it cannot run the water-based Hotel Collection Yes if your public zone is 800+ sq ft of connected air

Founder Diaries · Home Scenting by Home Type

Let me answer it before explaining it: for most 4BHKs, no. Not because the Vaayu is a poor machine — it is a very good one — but because it is excellent at a job that most four-bedroom flats do not have. There is a real yes buried in this question, and it belongs to a specific and identifiable kind of home. If yours is that home, buy it. If it is not, ₹11,999 will do less for your flat than ₹9,495 spread across five machines.
Quick answers — read this first
Short version: no for most 4BHKs, yes for a few.

Yes if: your public zone is one connected volume above roughly 800 sq ft, or double-height, or open-plan with no door frames between living, dining and lobby.

No if: your living room is a room with walls — then a Sukoon covers it.

Either way: it is waterless, cannot run the Hotel Collection, and reaches no bedroom.
The short answer
Short answer: Usually not. A Vaayu at ₹11,999 is built for large connected open volume and cannot cross a closed door, so in a normal 4BHK it scents one zone and leaves four bedrooms untouched — while five Sukoons at ₹9,495 cover the whole flat.
It is worth it if: Your public zone is a single connected volume of roughly 800 sq ft or more, or is double-height, or is genuinely open-plan from front door to far wall. In that specific case two Sukoons will read as two machines and the Vaayu will read as one atmosphere.
Before you decide: The Vaayu is waterless and nebulises neat oil. It cannot use the water-based Hotel Collection at all, so buying one means running a second fragrance system alongside whatever your bedrooms use.
Straight answer
Is a Vaayu worth buying for a 4BHK apartment?
1. For most 4BHKs, no. A typical four-bedroom flat is a public zone plus four rooms behind doors. The Vaayu serves the first and cannot serve the second, so ₹11,999 buys you part of a home. Five Sukoons at ₹9,495 buys you all of it.

2. The fragrance question comes before the money question. The Vaayu is waterless. It nebulises neat oil and cannot take the water-based Hotel Collection in any form. If you already run those scents, or intend to, buying a Vaayu means running two separate fragrance systems in one flat.

3. Yes if your public zone is genuinely vast and genuinely connected. Double-height, or open-plan living, dining and lobby running to 800 sq ft or more without a door frame. In that case two Sukoons will feel like two separate machines and the Vaayu will feel like one condition of the room. That is a real difference and worth ₹11,999.

4. Even then, the bedrooms still need Sukoons. There is no version of a Vaayu setup that covers a 4BHK on its own. Four bedrooms is four more machines at ₹7,596, making the honest hybrid ₹19,595 of hardware before the Vaayu's own oil.

5. And an Aangan is a different question entirely. The Aangan at ₹25,999 is a ducted HVAC system rated 8,000–10,000 sq ft — also waterless, also unable to run the Hotel Collection. That is a whole-property machine for villas, not an apartment purchase.

TL;DR: for most 4BHKs a Vaayu is not worth it — it is waterless, cannot run the Hotel Collection, and reaches no bedroom. It is worth it if your public zone is one connected volume above roughly 800 sq ft, and even then the bedrooms still need Sukoons.
SOSA Sukoon 500ml ultrasonic cool mist diffuser
What ₹11,999 is competing with
SOSA Sukoon · 500ml ₹1,899
270–320 sq ft, 16–18 hours a fill on low, remote and timers, and three 15ml Hotel Collection scents in the box. Five of them is ₹9,495 and covers a whole 4BHK including every bedroom — which is the comparison a Vaayu has to win, not a comparison of raw output.

What "worth it" actually depends on

Worth is not a property of a machine, it is a relationship between a machine and a problem. The Vaayu solves one problem extremely well: filling a large connected volume of air with an even, controllable fragrance, on a schedule, without anybody refilling tanks. That is why it exists, that is what commercial spaces need, and in the right room it does something no ultrasonic diffuser can approach. The question is therefore not whether the Vaayu is good, but whether your flat contains the room it was built for. Most 4BHKs do not. A typical one has a living room of 280–350 sq ft with a doorway into a dining area, and that is a Sukoon-sized problem — one machine, ₹1,899, done. Buying a commercial nebuliser for it is like buying a floor polisher for a rug.

The homes where the answer flips are recognisable. Double-height living rooms. Apartments where the front door opens onto a lobby that opens onto a living area that opens onto a dining area with nothing but a change of flooring between them. Anything where you can stand at one end and see 800 sq ft or more of unbroken air. In those flats two Sukoons at opposite ends will each do their own circle honestly and you will still feel the seam between them, because you are asking two point sources to behave like one atmosphere. A Vaayu will not have that problem. But notice what the yes costs even when it is correct: the bedrooms remain untouched, because a nebuliser built for connected volume cannot cross a shut door, and the whole water-based Hotel Collection becomes unavailable to that machine, since it runs neat oil. A yes to the Vaayu is a yes to a hybrid home running two fragrance systems.

The three decisions behind the answer

1
DECISION ONE · THE YES-IF LIST
Four conditions, and you want most of them
SOSA Vaayu waterless diffuserSOSA Vaayu₹11,999A Vaayu earns its ₹11,999 in a 4BHK if: the public zone is one connected volume of roughly 800 sq ft or more; there are no door frames between its parts; the ceiling is high or double-height, which is where ultrasonic mist struggles most; and you are content to run a fragrance other than the water-based Hotel Collection in it, because it is waterless and cannot take it. One of those four is not enough. Three or four of them and the machine is genuinely the right answer.
The test: stand at the front door. If you can see 800 sq ft of your flat without passing a door frame, this is a real conversation.
2
DECISION TWO · THE NO-IF LIST
The conditions that settle it the other way
It is not worth it if your living room is a room — walls, a doorway, 280–350 sq ft — because a single Sukoon at ₹1,899 covers that and the difference goes into the bedrooms instead. Not worth it if what you want is whole-flat coverage, because a Vaayu reaches no bedroom and never will. Not worth it if you have built a fragrance habit around the Hotel Collection, since none of those seven scents — 15ml at ₹299 through to 300ml at ₹1,799 — can go into a waterless machine. And not worth it as a way to reduce machine count, because the count only falls in the half of the flat it can reach.
The rule: if the honest goal is "fewer machines", the Vaayu does not deliver it in a flat with four bedroom doors.
3
DECISION THREE · IF THE ANSWER IS YES, HOW TO BUILD IT
A hybrid, costed properly
A correct Vaayu setup in a 4BHK is the machine in the large public zone and a Sukoon in every bedroom — ₹11,999 plus ₹7,596 for four, which is ₹19,595, plus neat oil for the Vaayu bought separately since the Hotel Collection cannot be used in it. Run the bedrooms on one quiet water-based scent and let the public zone do its own thing; do not attempt to match them, because a nebulised neat oil and an ultrasonic water-based fragrance behave differently in air and will not read as the same smell even if the notes are related.

The yes-if checklist

Run your own flat through this. The Vaayu is worth ₹11,999 when most of the left column is true of your home, and it is not when most of it is false. There is no partial credit for a large flat that happens to be divided into normal rooms.

Is it worth it for your 4BHK?
Condition by condition, with the verdict
Condition What it means in practice If true If false
One connected public volume ★ 800+ sq ft visible from the front door without a door frame Vaayu is a real candidate Two Sukoons ₹3,798
High or double-height ceiling Volume, not floor area, is the constraint Strong argument for the Vaayu A Sukoon at ₹1,899 is sized for it
Bedrooms behind closed doors Four separate air spaces the Vaayu cannot enter Add four Sukoons ₹7,596 regardless Not applicable in a 4BHK
You use the Hotel Collection ★ Water-based, ultrasonic only The Vaayu cannot run it — a second system One less reason to say no
You want fewer machines A Vaayu reduces count only in the zone it reaches It will not achieve this in a 4BHK Then the fleet is fine
You want per-room control Different doses, scents and schedules by room The Vaayu cannot offer this The Vaayu's app scheduling is excellent
The scoring: three or four conditions pointing to the Vaayu makes it the right ₹11,999. One or two makes five Sukoons at ₹9,495 the better purchase by a distance.

The two answers, side by side
The SOSA principle
A machine is only worth it if your home contains the problem it was built to solve. The Vaayu solves enormous connected volume — and four bedroom doors are the opposite of that.
It is also waterless, so saying yes to it means saying no to the water-based Hotel Collection in that half of your home.

How each route is actually run

A five-Sukoon flat is run by hand and by timer, and that is its advantage. Each machine sits a metre off the floor with a foot of clearance, out of the throw of the AC. Four to five drops of Hotel Collection per tank in the public zone, three to four in bedrooms, with the 2H timer stopping each one. You fill five tanks once a week from a single 300ml bottle at ₹1,799 — ten minutes — and in exchange you can turn any room up, down or off on the day.

A Vaayu is run through its app. You set intervals and intensity for a zone rather than filling and switching on, and it holds that setting without attention — which is precisely why commercial spaces use these machines. It takes neat oil bought for it, never the water-based Hotel Collection, and it wants to be sited where its output joins the room's existing air movement rather than fighting it. What it will not do is give you a different answer in a different room, because there is only ever one room in its world.

If you run the hybrid, keep the two halves deliberately separate rather than trying to blend them. Give the bedrooms one calm water-based scent across all of them — Westin-inspired White Tea Serenity or The Ritz-Carlton-inspired Quiet Luxury — at three to four drops on 2H timers, and let the public zone run its own fragrance on its own schedule. Keep bedroom doors shut while the Vaayu is working, which both protects the bedroom character and is the only reason the bedroom doses can stay low. Use filtered water in the Sukoons in hard-water cities, rinse tanks when you change scent, and never put raw essential or carrier oils into an ultrasonic machine.

It is a very good machine for a room most four-bedroom flats do not have.
— Sonal Sahani, SOSA

What the yes actually costs

Both answers priced honestly. Note that Sukoon totals include three 15ml fragrances per machine, while the Vaayu figure is hardware only — its neat oil is a separate purchase, because the Hotel Collection cannot be used in it.

The Vaayu decision, costed
Five options, with the real totals
Option What you buy Covers Total
The usual answer ★ Five Sukoons ₹1,899 × 5 — 15 × 15ml scents Whole 4BHK, every zone ₹9,495
The lean fleet Four Sukoons ₹1,899 × 4 Public zone + three bedrooms ₹7,596
Vaayu alone One Vaayu ₹11,999 — waterless, oil bought separately One large connected zone. No bedrooms ₹11,999
The correct yes Vaayu ₹11,999 + four Sukoons ₹7,596 Huge open zone + four bedrooms ₹19,595
Whole-property scale One Aangan ₹25,999 — ducted HVAC, 8,000–10,000 sq ft, also waterless Villas, not apartments ₹25,999
Honest notes before you buy: the Vaayu and Aangan rows are hardware only. Both are waterless and nebulise neat oil, so they cannot take the water-based Hotel Collection at all and their fragrance is a separate line — the ₹1,799 300ml bottle does not apply to them. The Sukoon totals are complete on day one. These ultrasonic, water-based fragrances add a little humidity, welcome in a dry or air-conditioned flat and less so in a coastal monsoon. The machines (Boond, Sukoon, Megh) are imported from China; the Hotel Collection fragrances are composed and made in India. A Megh at ₹3,499 is not a middle option here — it covers 215 sq ft, less than a Sukoon, and exists for 100-hour runtime in one dry room. Use filtered water in hard-water areas, rinse tanks between scents, and keep fragrance away from children and pets. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by the world's finest hotels; SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. SOSA Vaayu waterless cold-air scent diffuser
Excellent at one job
SOSA Vaayu · waterless ₹11,999
Cold-air nebulising rated to 1000 m³, with a Bluetooth app and timer. In a genuinely large connected volume it does something no ultrasonic machine can. It is waterless, runs neat oil and cannot use the water-based Hotel Collection at all, and it cannot cross a closed door — so it is a common-areas machine, never a whole-home one.

A note from Sonal

I would rather sell you five Sukoons you use than one Vaayu that disappoints you, and I say that knowing exactly how it sounds coming from someone who sells both. The Vaayu is the better machine and usually the worse purchase — those two things are allowed to be true at once.

The homes where I say yes without hesitation have a particular feel to them. You come in and the space keeps going: no threshold between the lobby and the living room, a ceiling that is doing something, a dining table that is somehow in the same room as the sofa. In a flat like that, two ultrasonic machines are two events in a large space rather than one atmosphere, and you can tell. That is a real limitation of the technology and I am not going to pretend otherwise.

But say yes with your eyes open. The bedrooms will still need their own machines, and the seven scents I composed for water cannot go into a machine that runs neat oil — that is a formulation fact, not a policy. So the yes costs ₹19,595 of hardware and two supply chains. Worth it in the right flat. Not in most. A portion of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Is a Vaayu worth it for a 4BHK?
For most, no. The Vaayu at ₹11,999 is built for large connected open volume and cannot cross a closed door, so in a normal four-bedroom flat it scents the public zone and leaves four bedrooms untouched. Five Sukoons at ₹9,495 cover the whole flat for less. It is worth it if your public zone is one connected volume of roughly 800 sq ft or more.
What size room does a Vaayu actually need to justify itself?
Roughly 800 sq ft or more of genuinely connected air, or a double-height space where volume rather than floor area is the constraint — its rating is 1000 m³, which is about a 3,500 sq ft floor at a ten-foot ceiling, but only where the air joins up. A 300 sq ft living room with a doorway is a Sukoon job at ₹1,899.
Can I use my existing fragrance in a Vaayu?
Not if it is the Hotel Collection. The Vaayu is waterless and nebulises neat oil, so the water-based Hotel Collection — every one of the seven scents, in every size from 15ml at ₹299 to 300ml at ₹1,799 — cannot be used in it. A Vaayu needs its own fragrance, bought separately.
Would a Vaayu let me buy fewer machines overall?
Only in the zone it reaches. It replaces the one or two Sukoons that would have served your public area; it does nothing for the bedrooms, which still need one machine each. In a 4BHK that means ₹11,999 plus ₹7,596 for four bedrooms — ₹19,595 — against ₹9,495 for a five-machine fleet.
Should I consider an Aangan instead?
Not in an apartment. The Aangan at ₹25,999 is a ducted HVAC nebulising system rated 8,000–10,000 sq ft, intended for whole properties — villas and bungalows with their own air handling. It is also waterless and cannot use the water-based Hotel Collection. For a 4BHK it is comprehensively beyond the brief.
4BHK · the honest verdict
