A 130ml holds 2.6 times the liquid of a 50ml, so the obvious expectation is 2.6 times the weeks — about eighteen weeks against seven. The published ranges do not say that. They say 6–8 weeks against 14–18, which is roughly two and a bit times, not two and a half. The reason is that the reeds set the rate of consumption, not the bottle. Six fibre reeds standing in a warm room draw and evaporate at broadly the same speed whether there is 50ml or 130ml beneath them. A 50ml on six reeds gives up about 7ml a week; a 130ml on six reeds gives up about 8ml. The larger bottle keeps its reeds fully wetted for longer, so it works a shade harder for a shade longer, and the honest ranges reflect that rather than a clean multiplication.
Two practical consequences follow. First, the same bottle behaves differently in different rooms — heat and airflow raise evaporation, so a 130ml in a hot west-facing hall may land at fourteen weeks while the same bottle in an air-conditioned bedroom on four reeds runs past eighteen. Quoting a single number for either size would be dishonest, which is why both are given as ranges. Second, because reed count is the dial, you can move a bottle along its own range for free. I would rather you bought one 130ml than two 50ml, and I say that knowing the two 50ml bottles bring in more money. The arithmetic is not close. Two 50ml bottles are ₹1,498 for 100ml and 12–16 weeks; one 130ml is ₹1,249 for 130ml and 14–18 weeks. There is no reading of that where the pair is the better buy for a single room.
Where the pair earns its place is two rooms. Fragrance does not pass a closed door, so a bedroom and a study are two air spaces and one bottle cannot be in both. If that is your situation, buy two — and buy them as two different scents, because two of the same in adjacent rooms is a waste of the second decision.
The thing I correct most often is the assumption that the 130ml is the strong one. It is not stronger. It is longer. Both sizes hold a room of up to about 150 sq ft on six reeds and both stop being enough at the same point.
