Why does the amount matter so much with a client? Because many organisations cap what employees may accept from suppliers or require declaration above a threshold. A gift that must be returned or logged is worse than none.
What should I avoid? Anything expensive, anything personal, anything branded with your company, and anything sent during a live tender or contract negotiation.
It has to be receivable
Client gifting has a constraint that personal gifting does not, and skipping it is how a warm gesture turns into an awkward email. The constraint is receivability. A great many organisations have a written policy on what their people may accept from a supplier, a partner or a bidder. Some set a value cap. Some require anything above a threshold to be declared to a manager or logged in a register. Some prohibit gifts entirely while a tender, renewal or contract negotiation is live. And some individuals apply a stricter rule to themselves than their employer requires, particularly in procurement, finance, legal and the public sector. None of that is about whether the gesture is welcome. It is about whether accepting it creates work, a disclosure or a problem for the recipient - and a gift that has to be returned, declared or explained is decisively worse than no gift at all, because it lands in their inbox as an admin task at a moment when they have no capacity for admin tasks. So the first decision is the amount, and the sensible answer is modest. Three hundred and fifty to eight hundred rupees clears almost every policy anywhere, sits comfortably below every normal threshold, and is entirely appropriate for a personal occasion. Above about fifteen hundred rupees you are in territory where somebody may have to think about it, and the fact that it was for a baby does not exempt it. If you have a genuinely long relationship and know their policy is permissive, a slightly larger gift is fine - but the default should be small, and the second decision matters more anyway. That second decision is framing. This gift should read as a personal-occasion gift from you, not as a corporate gesture from your company to their company. In practice that means no company branding on anything, no compliments slip with a logo, and no reference to the account, the project or anything commercial in the note. Write it by hand if you can, address it to them by name, and say nothing at all about work. A gift that mentions the account converts a human moment into a commercial one, which is exactly the thing a compliance policy exists to catch. There is also a timing rule that is worth respecting even when nobody is watching: do not send anything during a live tender, a renewal negotiation or a pitch. Wait until it is settled. The gesture loses nothing by arriving three weeks later - in fact, as with every new-parent gift, later is better, because everything they receive arrives in the first fortnight and the wave stops dead at about six weeks. Now the object, which follows the same logic as any professional gift: address a space, not a person. Nothing worn on the body. Nothing referencing anybody's physical state. Nothing that needs explaining. And nothing for the baby - the family is filling that column in volume, and it is not a supplier's place to add to it. To be explicit: SOSA makes no products for babies or children, and nothing in this range is intended for a nursery, a cot, a pram or a child's belongings. A coconut-soy candle at three hundred and seventy-nine rupees is the safest choice in this entire category. It is instantly legible, obviously well made, unmistakably a personal-occasion gift, and it is consumed rather than placed - which is the right behaviour for an object entering a house that has lost most of its free surface to a cot, a pram in the hall and a month of parcels. Lead-free eco wick, phthalate-free, hand-poured in Pune, fifteen to eighteen hours. Misty Mornings is Nilgiri orchid and sun-ripened nectarine, Bookshop is cedarwood, sage and lemon, Evening Walks is frankincense and tonka, Cozy Corner is spiced pear and golden honey. A hanging car perfume at four hundred and forty-nine to five hundred and nine rupees is the other strong option and has two advantages here. It is about as neutral an object as exists, carrying no personal register at all, and it is genuinely useful - in the months after a birth one parent takes over the outside half of the household, which means the paediatrician, the pharmacy at eleven at night, relatives collected from the station, the shopping, and the drive around the block at midnight with a baby who will not settle. Jasmine is four hundred and forty-nine, Lavender and Sandalwood four hundred and seventy-nine, Icy Mint four hundred and eighty-nine, Lemon four hundred and ninety-nine. If the relationship is long, the policy is permissive and you want something more substantial, a reed diffuser at seven hundred and forty-nine to eight hundred and forty-nine rupees is the right shape - Morning Freshness seven hundred and forty-nine, Garden Bloom and Evening Calm seven hundred and ninety-nine, Mountain Breeze and Fresh Brew eight hundred and forty-nine. It uses its own alcohol-free reed oil drawn up rattan by capillary action, needs one minute of attention at the start and none afterwards, and runs for two or three months. It belongs at an entrance or in a living room, not a nursery. If you go further, complete matters: a complete Boond system is eight hundred and ninety-nine rupees for the machine plus two hundred and ninety-nine for the water-based Hotel Collection concentrate, one thousand one hundred and ninety-eight, three to six drops per tank - never the machine alone. The three systems do not interchange, and reed oil must never go into a machine. Two delivery notes. Send it to a home address if you have one and it is appropriate to use, and to the office if not - but never attach a visit. And say explicitly in the note that no reply is needed: they are behind on dozens of messages and every kind thing that arrives quietly adds to that list. A client who is not obliged to respond will remember the gift more warmly than one who is.

Versailles
When somebody has a baby, the gifts arrive in a wave and almost every one of them is for the baby. Clothes the child outgrows in six weeks, toys for an age they have not reached, blankets in a cupboard that already has nine. It is all kind and it is all well meant. But two adults have just gone through something enormous, and by the end of the first month neither of them has received a single thing addressed to them.
That is the whole reason this section exists. We do not make anything for babies, and nothing we sell is meant for a nursery or for a child's things - we make fragrance for adults. What we can do is give somebody an answer when they say: everybody is buying for the baby, what do I give her, or him, or the two of them. Usually the answer is something small, consumable and completely undemanding, because a new parent has no free hands, no spare surface and no appetite for anything that needs setting up.
One honest thing. If the person you are buying for is pregnant, be careful with personal fragrance. A great many people find that what they want to be near changes during those months, and a bottle somebody cannot go near is a worse gift than nothing at all - so either choose something for their home or their car, or let them pick it themselves later. Message us on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 and tell us who the adult is and what you know about them, and we will tell you honestly if we think fragrance is the wrong call. A portion of every order supports girl-child education.
