A bedroom diffuser has one hard job: it has to disappear. It should be quiet enough to sleep beside, run all night, and let you turn it off without getting up. That is exactly what I built the Sukoon to do.
Quick answers — read this first
Which diffuser is best for a bedroom? The SOSA Sukoon (500ml, ₹1799). It runs 16-18 hours on a fill, is quiet cool mist, and comes with a remote plus 2-hour and 4-hour timers so you can set it from bed.

Is it quiet enough to sleep next to? Yes - it is a cool-mist ultrasonic unit, so the sound is a soft hum, not a fan. The 7-colour LED also works as a gentle night light you can dim or switch off.

Can I set it to switch off on its own? Yes. The remote offers steady, 2-hour and 4-hour timer modes, and it has auto shut-off when the tank runs dry plus overheat protection.
The short answer
Best for a bedroom: the SOSA Sukoon (500ml, ₹1799, was ₹2000).
Runtime: 16-18 hours on a fill - covers a full night and then some.
Sleep features: remote, steady/2H/4H timers, soft 7-colour night light, cool mist.
Fragrance: SOSA water-based Hotel Collection only, from ₹299 - three included.

Straight answer
What is the best ultrasonic diffuser for a bedroom?
The Sukoon (500ml, ₹1799). I designed it specifically for the room you sleep in. It runs 16-18 hours on one fill, so it will not quit at 2am; it covers 270-320 sq ft, which suits most bedrooms; and it ships with a remote that offers steady, 2-hour and 4-hour timer settings so you can set it without leaving the bed. The 7-colour LED doubles as a soft night light you can dim, and it is BPA-free with auto shut-off and overheat protection. This is a bedroom machine first - not a large-hall humidifier squeezed into a bedside role. For a big living room, I would point you to the Megh instead.

The three things a bedroom diffuser must get right

I have slept beside a lot of diffusers while testing, including ones that were far too loud, far too bright, or dead by midnight. A bedroom unit really only needs to nail three things.

1. It has to run all night. The Sukoon holds 500ml and runs 16-18 hours on a fill. You set it before bed and it is still working when you wake - no refilling at 3am, no waking to a dry, silent room.
2. It has to be quiet and controllable from bed. Cool-mist ultrasonic diffusers are quiet by nature - the sound is a soft hum, not a whirring fan. The remote matters more than people expect: you can switch the mist and light, and pick a steady, 2-hour or 4-hour timer without getting up.
3. The light has to be a night light, not a disco. The 7-colour LED can cycle, but you can also hold it on one soft colour or turn it off entirely. I use it as a low amber glow - enough to find a glass of water, not enough to keep me awake.
Safety is why I am comfortable putting the Sukoon in a nursery: it is BPA-free, it is cool mist so there is no hot water or steam, and it has both auto shut-off when empty and overheat protection.

Scent and water, done safely at the bedside

Fill the Sukoon with clean, room-temperature water - filtered or RO if your city has hard water - and never hot water. It is a cool mist with no heating element, which is exactly what you want by a bed. Add a few drops of SOSA's water-based Hotel Collection fragrance and the room settles into a calm, hotel-quiet scent.

One firm rule: use only SOSA's water-based Hotel Collection fragrance. Raw essential oils, alcohol perfumes and carrier oils are too thick or solvent-heavy and can clog the ultrasonic misting plate and damage the unit. A few drops of our water-based fragrance mist cleanly.

For a bedroom I lean toward the calmer, spa-clean scents - the Westin-inspired White Tea Serenity, or the Shangri-La-inspired Tea Garden with jasmine and green tea. These are our own interpretations of those hotel styles, not the hotels' actual scents, and SOSA is not affiliated with the brands named. Three water-based fragrances come free with the Sukoon.

A bedroom diffuser should be the least dramatic thing in the room. Quiet mist, soft light, a scent you barely notice until you leave and miss it.

A last honest word: a diffuser scents and lightly humidifies a room - it is not an air purifier and does not clean the air. If dry winter air is your main problem in a large space, the 6L Megh is the better tool; for a bedroom, the Sukoon is the right size.

The SOSA range

SOSA makes three cool-mist ultrasonic diffusers for different rooms, each arriving with three of our water-based Hotel Collection fragrances so you can scent from day one. Prices and headline specs below are live from the SOSA store. Whichever you choose, use only the SOSA water-based fragrance - raw essential or carrier oils can clog the misting plate.

A note from Sonal

I trained as a perfumer at ISIPCA in Versailles, but half the questions we get are not about scent at all - they are about the machine. Indian rooms are bone-dry from AC and winter, and most gadget diffusers are too small, too loud, or quit by midnight. So we made three: Boond (300ml, desk), Sukoon (500ml, bedroom, with a remote and mood light) and Megh (6L, whole-room), each shipping with three of our fragrances.

They are cool-mist ultrasonic diffusers - an ultrasonic plate turns water into a fine, cool mist with no heating element, so there is no boiling water or burn risk, and each has an auto shut-off when the tank runs dry.

One thing I say on every listing and will say here: use only SOSA's water-based Hotel Collection fragrance. Raw essential oils, perfumes and carrier oils are thick or solvent-heavy and can clog the misting plate and damage the unit. A few drops of our water-based fragrance in the tank mists cleanly and scents the whole room.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the Sukoon run on one fill?
16-18 hours, which comfortably covers a full night. The 500ml tank is sized so you are not refilling mid-sleep.
Is the Sukoon quiet enough for light sleepers?
Yes. As a cool-mist ultrasonic diffuser it produces a soft hum rather than fan noise, and you can run it on a lower mist setting for an even quieter night.
Does the night light stay on all night?
Only if you want it to. You can hold a single soft colour, let it cycle, or turn the LED off entirely while the mist continues.
Is it safe for a child's room?
It is BPA-free, cool mist with no hot water or steam, and has auto shut-off plus overheat protection - which is why I am comfortable recommending it for a nursery. As with any device, keep it out of a child's reach.
What fragrance can I use in the Sukoon?
Only SOSA's water-based Hotel Collection fragrance. Raw essential or carrier oils can clog the misting plate. Three water-based fragrances are included.
