Drops, doses and how to change a scent without ruining a week

The two-scent question is the one I most enjoy being asked and most often talk people out of. It is a real technique — I use it in larger homes and it is worth doing there — but it needs distance to work, and a 1BHK does not have distance. It has a door and about four steps.
When I compose for two rooms in a small flat, I am not really composing two fragrances. I am composing one and deciding how much of it belongs in each place. Weight is the honest way to zone a small home; character is not. That is why the pairings I do recommend all share a note — they are two positions on one idea rather than two ideas.
