A car is the smallest space any of us scents, and the one we sit closest to. Two or three cubic metres of air, a metre from your face, with the windows up and the heater on for four months of the year. I say this to customers constantly and it still surprises people: almost every car fragrance problem I am sent is a dose problem, not a scent problem. The bottle is not weak and the oil is not wrong. The cabin simply gives fragrance nowhere to go, and winter takes away the little ventilation that was rescuing you in October.
That is why we sell the hanging bottle and the spray at the same price. They are the same oil. One gives you a mild level that is always there and asks nothing of you; the other gives you a strong level the moment you decide you want one. Neither is the better product, and pricing them differently would only push people toward whichever we wanted to sell. Choose by how you drive: a long daily commute is a hanging car, a car that matters most when somebody else gets into it is a spray car, and plenty of people quite sensibly run both.

Is it safe to use car perfume with a baby or a toddler in the car?
What we can tell you factually is the composition: every SOSA car fragrance is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free, 0 ppm formaldehyde, naturally derived, IFRA-compliant and made in India, and that is identical across the hanging bottle, the spray and the refills. Beyond composition it becomes a judgement call, and ours is straightforward: a very young child in a closed cabin is the most sensitive passenger you will ever carry and cannot tell you if something is bothering them, so run the lowest setting that still does anything at all, or run nothing on the drives where they are in the car. If you have any specific concern about a child, a pregnancy or a health condition, ask a doctor rather than a fragrance company. We will always tell you that a hanging bottle with the stopper fully tightened is a legitimate answer, and so is an unscented car.
My mother says the car gives her a headache. What should I do?
Reduce it, air the car, or change the scent - and do it straight away rather than trying to work out whether the fragrance is really the cause. A closed cabin with the heater running has almost no air exchange and warm air lifts fragrance faster off any source, so the level she is experiencing on a winter drive is genuinely higher than the same bottle produced in October. Tighten the adjustable stopper, open the doors properly at your next stop, and run the fan on fresh air rather than recirculate for a stretch. If it persists at the lowest setting, switch to a lighter register or take the bottle out. Nobody should spend a journey in air they find unpleasant, and no SOSA product prevents, relieves or treats headache or migraine - a headache in a cabin is information about the dose, nothing else.
Should I use a spray or a hanging bottle in a family car?
The hanging bottle, as the everyday answer, because it is predictable and it never puts a concentrated dose into a car that already has people in it. It gives a mild continuous throw for four to six weeks with an adjustable stopper, and it refills for Rs 399. A spray is not wrong in a large SUV - it is the same oil at the same price from Rs 449 and it is genuinely useful for reaching the rear rows - but the rule is to use it on an empty car before anyone gets in, ideally fifteen to thirty minutes ahead with the windows cracked for a minute afterwards, rather than mid-journey. Never spray while driving, never toward the windscreen, and never onto upholstery or dashboard plastics.
Everyone in the family likes a different scent. How do we settle it?
Test rather than argue, because most disagreements about fragrance are actually disagreements about strength. How long does a hanging bottle last in a large SUV compared with a smaller car?
The bottle empties on the same schedule - four to six weeks, which is 28 to 42 days of continuous mild diffusion - because evaporation from the bottle depends on the bottle, the stopper setting and the temperature rather than on how much air is around it. What changes in a big cabin is how it reads. The same amount of fragrance spread through several times the volume of air is simply less concentrated, so it feels milder, and it feels mildest in the rows furthest from the mirror. That is geometry, not a defect. When it does run out, a 15ml refill from Rs 399 tops up the same glass for another four to six weeks and saves Rs 50 to Rs 60 against buying a new bottle, in eight scents.
