Founder Diaries · Car Perfumes, Parking & How a Car Is Actually Used
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 10 min read Updated September 2026
A car you have driven for a decade has a smell nobody chose. It is the sum of every wet umbrella, every school run, every packet of something eaten in traffic and every seat cover that went in and came out again, and by year ten it has stopped being a smell and become the feeling of getting in. A new car has none of that, because none of it has happened yet. So when the cabin of a car you have owned for a fortnight is unrecognisable against the one you drove for ten years, the useful reading is not that the new vehicle is doing something the old one could not. It is that you swapped a decade of accumulated history for a blank one in a single afternoon - and the honest consequence is that you do not yet know what this car smells like when it is being itself, which makes it a poor moment to commit to a fragrance for it.
SOSA car perfume, spray or hanging, from Rs 449
SOSA car perfume · spray or hanging, same price · nine scents from ₹449 →
The decision behind almost every version of this question, and it is not about the car: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray is ₹449 to ₹549 and published at 100 sprays - three months and more at one a day, fifty days at two. The 12ml hanging is the same price, published at 4 to 6 weeks, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. Nothing here changes with the powertrain.
Quick answers — read this first
Should you wait before choosing a car perfume for a brand-new vehicle? Waiting costs nothing and it is usually the better order of operations. You have just changed the upholstery, the accumulated history, the parking space and several habits all at once, so the cabin you are judging is not settled yet. A 10ml SOSA spray is ₹449 to ₹549 and holds 100 sprays, and it does nothing at all until you press it, which is exactly the property an undecided buyer wants.

Is the difference between the two cabins caused by the powertrain? No. SOSA publishes no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product, and makes no claim that a fragrance behaves one way in one and another way in another. The things that genuinely changed are the interior being new rather than ten years old, the car having no history in it, a different parking space and a different routine. None of those is propulsion.

What is the cheapest way to be wrong about this? Buying the largest bottle first. The 50ml is 500 sprays and published at about a year and more, at ₹1,499, which is the right size once you know your own rate and the wrong one while you are still guessing. There is no spray refill, so a 50ml is a commitment to a routine rather than a top-up of one.
The short answer
Short answer: Wait. Changing cars changed four things at once - a new interior, a cabin with no accumulated history, a different parking space and different habits - and none of them is the powertrain. Live with the car for a few weeks first. A SOSA 10ml spray is Rs 449 to Rs 549, holds 100 sprays, and does nothing until you press it, so it is the format that lets you change your mind.
The pick: A 10ml SOSA car perfume spray, ₹449 to ₹549 - 100 sprays, and a format you can simply stop using on any given morning while you are still working the car out.
Why: A cabin two weeks old has not settled into anything yet, so a standing decision made now is a decision about a car you have not met.
What the car runs on is not the variable. How it is used is.On demand - 10ml spray ₹449 to ₹549, published at 100 spraysContinuous - 12ml hanging, same price, 4 to 6 weeksVentilate a hot or long-shut cabin before you judge itNever - fragrance instead of finding a smell's source
A car spends most of its life empty. The hours that matter are the ones somebody is sitting in it, and on a typical commute that is one or two out of twenty-four. The useful decision is therefore not which product lasts longest while nobody is there - it is whether you want fragrance you switch on or fragrance that simply runs. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, which is three months at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks and its stopper loosens for more or tightens for less. Nothing here depends on what is under the bonnet.
Straight answer
My old petrol hatchback was ten years old and had a familiar interior smell. The cabin in my new EV is nothing like it. Should I wait before deciding which fragrance suits the new vehicle?
Wait, and understand what you are actually comparing. On one side is a cabin you knew for a decade, whose smell was never chosen by anybody - it accumulated. On the other is an interior a few weeks old with nothing accumulated in it at all. Four things changed on the day you changed cars, and it is worth naming them separately: the interior is new rather than ten years old; the car carries none of the history the old one did; it is almost certainly parked somewhere different, because a car that is charged at home lives where the cable is; and your habits around it have shifted, from the weekly forecourt stop to whatever you do now. The powertrain is not on that list, and it is not a fragrance variable - SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and no claim that a perfume behaves differently according to what turns the wheels. A fragrance sits in a closed volume of air with a person in it, and that situation is identical in both cars. So the question underneath yours is not which perfume the new vehicle needs. It is what the new cabin is like on its own, and a fortnight is not long enough to know. Give it a few weeks of ordinary use with the windows down sometimes, and you will have a baseline to choose against instead of a memory to argue with. When you do choose, the arithmetic is straightforward. A SOSA 10ml spray is ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze, and ₹549 for Mysore Orange Blossom, and every one is published at 100 sprays - which the pages set out as 3 months and above at one spray a day, or 50 days at two a day. The 12ml hanging costs the same for the same scent, runs 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in refillable glass, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. One honest limit while you wait: fragrance adds a scent to a cabin. It does not remove one, it does not neutralise one and it does not mask one, so it is not a way of editing what the new car already smells of - it sits beside it. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Four things changed at once and none of them is propulsion. Learn the cabin first, then buy for it.
The short version for somebody two weeks into a new car: the 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 is 100 sprays and does nothing on the days you skip it, which is what an undecided buyer wants. The 12ml hanging is the same price and runs 4 to 6 weeks on its own. The 50ml at ₹1,499 is 500 sprays and the size for a routine you already have.
SOSA car perfumes from ₹449

Four things changed when you changed cars, and the powertrain is not one of them

The reason this question feels like a fragrance question is that scent is the part you noticed. But the change you noticed was produced by several ordinary things happening on the same day. Pull them apart and the shopping decision gets much smaller.

01
Four changes, one day
New interior, no history, new parking, new habits
A ten-year-old cabin is a record of ten years. A new one is a record of nothing. On top of that, a car charged at home usually lives somewhere different from a car that was refuelled on the way to work - a covered bay rather than open ground, or the other way round - and how a car is parked is the single biggest thing that decides what it is like when you open the door. Then your habits moved too. Four changes, none of them propulsion, and every one of them capable of making a cabin feel unfamiliar on its own.
Tip: You did not change one variable. You changed four and kept one label.
02
The comparison you are making
You are judging a new car against a memory, not against a product
This is the part that makes waiting worth it. The old cabin is no longer available to smell, so the thing you are comparing against is a recollection, and a decade-old recollection of something you stopped consciously noticing years ago. Anything you buy now is being judged against that. It is not a fair test and it is not a test the product can pass, because no fragrance was ever going to reproduce ten years of your own life in a car. Give the new cabin a few weeks of normal use and the comparison quietly changes from old car versus new car to this car with something in it versus this car without, which is the only comparison that helps you choose.
03
Waiting is free
And the spray is the format that lets you keep changing your mind
Nothing is lost by taking a month. When you are ready, the choice is between a format you switch on and a format that simply runs, and they are the same price for the same scent, so it is not a budget question. The 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day - and it produces nothing at all on the mornings you skip it, which is what makes it the undecided buyer's format. The 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks whether you are in the car or not, with the stopper as its strength control. Both are reasonable. Only one of them is reversible by doing nothing.
Tip: The format that does nothing until you press it is the one that forgives an early guess.
SOSA Mysore Orange Blossom car perfume spray, 10ml and 50ml
The one number that settles most of this
A 10ml spray is 100 sprays. The rest is division.
SOSA publishes the count on the bottle: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, and the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The pages state the working too - three months and above at one spray a day, and fifty days at two a day. That turns a vague question into an arithmetic one. Spray before every journey and somebody making four short trips a day is out of a 10ml in about twenty-five days; the same bottle in the hands of somebody who sprays once each morning lasts the published three months. Neither is wrong - but only one of them is what the person expected when they bought it. Work out your own number before you decide the product is not lasting, because a hundred sprays is a hundred sprays regardless of how the car is powered.
See Mysore Orange Blossom from ₹549 →
Work it out in this order
The order that saves you a wrong purchase
  1. Name the four changes: interior, history, parking, habits. Not the powertrain.
  2. Drive the car normally for a few weeks and learn what its own baseline is.
  3. Pick the format on how you want to use it: switched on, or simply running.
  4. Buy the 10ml first. The 50ml is the size for a routine you already have.
The SOSA principle
You are not choosing a fragrance for an electric car. You are choosing one for a cabin you have owned for a fortnight, and those are very different problems.
Which is why the most useful instruction on this page is to buy nothing for a few weeks, and the second most useful is to buy the small one.

What to buy while you are still finding out what the car should smell like

When you do choose, choose on the cabin and on your own taste, because nothing else in the decision is doing any work. The nine scents spread out properly. Jasmine at ₹449 is the entry point and the softest floral; Lavender at ₹479 is the quietest of the range as the pages describe them. Icy Mint at ₹489, Lemon at ₹499 and Sea Breeze at ₹509 are the bright, sharp end. Sandalwood at ₹479, Vetiver at ₹509 and Oud at ₹509 run deep, with Oud published as the deepest. Mysore Orange Blossom at ₹549 is spray only - there is no hanging version of it and no refill for it, which is worth knowing before you settle on it.

The SOSA gift edit
Four ways to handle a cabin you have not lived with yet
The option Who it suits, and where it fails
Buy nothing for a few weeks The honest first answer, and it costs you nothing. You get a baseline to choose against rather than a memory. It fails if you actively dislike the car as it stands, in which case waiting is just a month of not enjoying your own car.
A 10ml spray, ₹449 to ₹549 100 sprays, and nothing happens on the days you skip it, so an early guess is reversible by inaction. It fails if what you wanted was for the car to greet you without your doing anything at all.
A 12ml hanging, the same price 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in refillable glass, with the stopper to adjust it. It fails here for one reason only: it makes a standing decision about a cabin you have owned for two weeks.
The Discovery Set, from ₹699 Three sprays instead of one guess, and the published sets run to ₹2,999 for all nine. It fails if you wanted a single answer - and the nine combinations are fixed, so you pick from the published list rather than assembling a trio.
SOSA Lavender car perfume, spray and hanging formats
The format choice, and why price does not decide it
Spray or hanging - the same price, scent for scent
This is the unusual part of the SOSA car range and it makes the decision cleaner than it usually is: the spray and the hanging cost the same for any given scent - ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze. So you are not trading money against convenience; you are choosing between fragrance you decide to have and fragrance that is simply there. The spray is 100 sprays in 10ml and you control every one of them. The hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass and asks nothing of you, and its stopper is the strength control - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler. One further practical difference that decides it for some people: 15ml refills exist for the hanging and there is no spray refill at all.
See SOSA car perfumes from ₹449 →

Two practical notes for somebody early in a new car. 15ml refills exist for the hanging at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents, in a refillable glass bottle, and there is no spray refill at all - so a spray is replaced rather than topped up. Everything in the range is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, and formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, which is a statement about how the formula holds rather than a claim that it behaves differently in one season. On presentation, if a new car in the family is somebody else's: custom label or logo on product is the one branding option SOSA offers.

SOSA car perfume spray 10ml, from Rs 449
₹449 to ₹549, published at 100 sprays. Fragrance you decide to have, journey by journey - which is the format that suits a car occupied an hour or two a day.
from ₹449
SOSA car hanging perfume 12ml, from Rs 449
The same price as the spray, published at 4 to 6 weeks in a refillable glass bottle. The stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler - which is the only strength control SOSA publishes.
from ₹449
SOSA Car Perfume Sprays Discovery Set, from Rs 699
Three sprays from ₹699, or all nine at ₹2,999. Nine published combinations and those nine are the whole range - you pick from them, you do not assemble one.
from ₹699
The premise worth rejecting before anything else
A fragrance does not know what is turning the wheels.
There is no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product in the SOSA range, and SOSA publishes nothing whatsoever about powertrain - because a perfume in a closed cabin behaves the same way whether that cabin is being pushed along by a battery or an engine. What genuinely differs between two owners is everything else: where the car is parked and for how long, how many separate journeys it makes in a day, how many of those hours anybody is actually inside it, whether the windows are open, and who else is in the car. Those are real variables and they change the answer completely. The published figures speak to them directly: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, which is three months and more at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously with a stopper that loosens for more and tightens for less; the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. So when two people with identical cars need different answers, it is never because one of them is electric.

One message, one honest recommendation
Tell SOSA how many hours a day somebody is actually sitting in the car, where it is parked and for how long, whether the windows are usually open or shut, and who else drives it - and you will be told which format and how much, including the times the honest answer is the hanging at the same price because you would rather not think about it.

The SOSA gifting range

Two questions settle almost every car fragrance decision, and neither of them is what the car runs on. How many hours a day is somebody actually sitting in it? A 25 km commute is about an hour; a field job can be four. That number decides how much of what you buy is experienced by anybody at all, because the rest of the day is a sealed cabin in a parking bay. Then: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray holds 100 sprays and does nothing until you press it; the 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks whether anybody is there or not, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. They cost the same for the same scent, so price does not decide it - which is unusual, and useful.

The SOSA range, sorted by how much it asks of the person receiving it
Start from what the gift demands, not from what it costs
Product What it is What it is for Price
SOSA car perfume spray - 10ml Fragrance you switch on ₹449 to ₹549 across nine scents. Published at 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day. A fine-mist atomizer; one spray covers the cabin from ₹449
SOSA car hanging - 12ml Fragrance that simply runs The same price as the spray, scent for scent. Published at 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle, and the stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler from ₹449
SOSA car perfume spray - 50ml The long-run size ₹1,499, published at 500 sprays and about a year and more. The honest size when you already know the routine, and the wrong one while you are still working it out ₹1,499
Car perfume combos Two scents, one purchase ₹899 for Jasmine & Lemon or Jasmine & Lavender; ₹949 for Oud + Lemon or Sandalwood & Oud. Spray combo (2 x 10ml) or hanging combo (2 x 12ml) at the same price. Four published pairs from ₹899
Car Perfume Sprays Discovery Set Three to try ₹699 to ₹899 for three sprays, or ₹2,999 for all nine. Nine published combinations, and those nine are the whole range - none is composed to order from ₹699
Hanging refills - 15ml Only the hanging refills ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. There is no spray refill, and Orange Blossom has no refill at all - so if refilling matters, that decides the format for you from ₹399
SOSA Safar The powered option ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. A different category from a spray or a hanging, and listed here so you can rule it in or out rather than wonder from ₹3,999

The fact that answers most of these questions is a division sum. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays. Somebody who sprays before each of four short daily trips empties it in about twenty-five days; somebody who sprays once a day gets the published three months and more. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks instead, continuously, and its stopper adjusts the strength - loosen for more, tighten for less. Spray and hanging are the same price scent for scent, so the choice is genuinely about how you want to use the car rather than what you want to spend. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, made in India. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour and it does not clean the air - so a car that has developed a smell is a question about the car, not about the perfume. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available, with quantities settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

What the SOSA car pages publish, and what they do not

A note from Sonal

We get asked which car perfume is right for an electric car, and I have never been able to give the answer the question wants. There isn't one. A fragrance sits in a closed box of air with a person in it, and that box does not behave differently because the thing moving it is a battery. If anyone tells you otherwise they are selling you a category, not a product.

What I can tell you is what actually changes between two owners, because it is not subtle. One car is occupied ninety minutes a day and another is occupied six. One sits in a basement and one bakes outdoors for nine hours. One has the windows down for the first ten minutes of every drive and one never opens them at all. One is driven by three people who want three different things from it. Those differences are enormous, and none of them is on the spec sheet of the car.

So the numbers I would want you to hold on to are the ones about use rather than about chemistry. A 10ml spray is a hundred sprays. That is three months if you spray once a day and about fifty days if you spray twice, and if you spray before every one of four short errands it is gone in under a month. The hanging runs four to six weeks and you can loosen or tighten the stopper to change it. Those two facts settle more of these questions than anything I could tell you about the car.

And the part I will not pretend about: a perfume cannot fix a smell. It adds a scent, it does not remove one. If a car has started smelling of something it did not smell of before, that is a question about the car - the air-conditioning, the mats, something in the boot, water that got in during the monsoon - and adding fragrance on top of it is the one thing I would ask you not to do.

Frequently asked questions

Does an electric car need a different fragrance from a petrol one?
No. SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and makes no powertrain claim of any kind. A perfume sits in a closed volume of air with a person in it, and that is the same situation in both cars. What actually changed when you switched is that the interior is new, the cabin has no accumulated history, the parking is probably different and your routine moved with it.
How long should I wait before buying a car perfume for a new car?
SOSA publishes nothing about how a new interior smells or how long that lasts, so nobody here can give you a date and this page will not invent one. What can be said is that waiting costs nothing, a few weeks of ordinary use gives you a baseline instead of a memory, and starting later is easy while unpicking a standing decision is slightly harder.
Will a car perfume get rid of the smell my new car came with?
No, and this is the most important limit in the range. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin. It does not remove, neutralise or mask anything already there, so whatever the new interior smells of will still be underneath it. You are adding, not editing, and that is worth knowing before you spend.
How many sprays are in a bottle?
A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays and a 50ml at 500, with the 50ml stated as lasting about a year and more. The 10ml working is given as 3 months and above at one spray a day, or 50 days at two a day. Those are the only usage figures SOSA publishes for the sprays.
Is the hanging a bad idea in a brand-new car?
Not at all, and it costs the same as the spray for the same scent. It runs 4 to 6 weeks per 12ml bottle in refillable glass and the stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. The only argument against it right now is that it runs whether you are in the car or not, which is a standing decision about a cabin you have owned for a fortnight.

Eight are sold in two formats at the same price per scent - a 10ml spray and a 12ml hanging: Jasmine ₹449; Lavender and Sandalwood ₹479; Icy Mint ₹489; Lemon ₹499; Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze ₹509. Mysore Orange Blossom is spray only, ₹549 in 10ml. A 50ml spray is ₹1,499. The published quantities are: 10ml equals 100 sprays, stated as three months and above at one spray a day and fifty days at two a day; 50ml equals 500 sprays, stated as about a year and more; a spray combo is 200 sprays; and a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks, that is 28 to 42 days, of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle whose stopper loosens for stronger and tightens for subtler. Four combos are published - Jasmine & Lemon and Jasmine & Lavender at ₹899, Oud + Lemon and Sandalwood & Oud at ₹949 - each as a spray combo of 2 x 10ml or a hanging combo of 2 x 12ml at the same price. The Car Perfume Sprays Discovery Set publishes nine combinations, ₹699 to ₹899 for three and ₹2,999 for all nine; those nine are the entire set range and none is composed to order. Hanging refills are 15ml at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents; there is no spray refill and Orange Blossom has no refill. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, made in India. SOSA Safar is ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any difference in fragrance behaviour between petrol, diesel and electric vehicles - SOSA makes no powertrain-specific product and no powertrain claim; any cabin-volume, coverage, scent-throw, projection or evaporation figure; any claim about how a scent is perceived over hours or about sensory adaptation; any seasonal performance claim beyond the stated formulation for heat and humidity; any shelf life, expiry or concentration; and any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a cabin. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, it does not clean the air, and a car that has developed a new smell is a question about the vehicle rather than about perfume. No health claim is made anywhere on this page, in either direction - nothing here states or implies that any fragrance causes or prevents a headache, nausea, motion sickness or any other effect, and nothing is said about safety in pregnancy or for children or the elderly, because SOSA publishes no information this page can rely on. No third-party brand is named and no competitor or category of competing product is characterised. No rating, review count, strength percentage or customer name from any product page is cited. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; that is the only branding option, and quantities are settled on WhatsApp. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
