Of everything a car fragrance does, strength is the one thing a passenger cannot step out of, turn down or leave at the door. That is why it is settled with them, before anyone recommends a level.
Quick answers — read this first
Why settle passenger preferences before intensity? Because intensity is the one setting another person lives inside without choosing it. The level belongs to the most fragrance-sensitive regular passenger, not to the person who bought the product.
How do I find out what my passenger prefers? You ask them, in words, and offer two levels to choose between rather than asking whether it is fine. This page does not predict what any passenger thinks, and nobody else can either.
What if the passenger wants less than I do? Then you need two levels, not a compromise: their ceiling when they ride, your preference when alone. A spray gives that by presses; Safar by its three speeds and a timer.
The short answer
Short answer: Settle who rides with you before you settle how strong it is. The level belongs to the most fragrance-sensitive regular passenger, found by asking them.
The pick: No product until the passenger has answered. After that the ceiling picks the mechanism: a press on a spray from ₹479, or three speeds on SOSA Safar at ₹3,999.
Next step: Ask your regular passenger the three questions below, offer two levels, and send me their answer in their words. I reply with a setting and a first week.
You choose the format, the scent and the place it sits. A regular passenger chooses none of them, so the one setting they live inside is the one that should be agreed with them first. Nothing here guesses what they think.
Three ways to honour a ceiling: a press, a hook, a setting
Why Should Passenger Preferences Be Settled Before Anyone Recommends a Fragrance Intensity?
Because intensity is the one setting another person experiences without choosing it. So the level belongs to the most fragrance-sensitive regular passenger, not to the buyer, and the way to find out who that is and what they want is to ask.
1. Intensity is the setting a passenger cannot reach. You choose the format, the scent and the place it sits. They choose none of those, and cannot turn down what they cannot touch. Strength is the one thing the whole cabin shares.
2. The level belongs to the most sensitive regular passenger. Regular, because an occasional passenger can be met by moving a setting before they get in. Most sensitive, because the shared level is only as high as the lowest ceiling in the car.
3. I will not guess what they think, and neither should you. The question is whether you have asked, in what words, and what they said. A prediction about another person's tolerance is the error this page exists to prevent.
4. The ceiling comes first because it chooses the mechanism. A hanging unit cannot be set lower; a spray goes lower by pressing less; Safar has three speeds and a timer. Which of those can honour the ceiling depends on how low it is.
5. A ceiling below your taste is not a defeat. It means two levels: theirs when they ride, yours when you are alone. That is the case where a setting you can move earns its price, and the case where a spray pressed lightly may do the same job for less.
What I need from you: who rides with you at least weekly, and their answer to three questions, in their own words. The questions are in the specification below.
Ask the most fragrance-sensitive regular passenger first, offer two levels, and write down their answer. That ceiling sets the level and picks the mechanism. Send it to me and a person replies with a setting.
What I need to know before I name a level
1 · Who rides at least weekly
Names or roles, not guesses about them. Occasional passengers are a separate, easier question.
2 · Which seat, how long a ride
A front-seat passenger for a short trip and a rear-seat passenger for a long one are different cases.
3 · Have you asked, and in what words
'Do you notice the car smells of anything? Is there a level you would prefer?' Write down what they said, as they said it.
4 · Offer two levels
Give them a lighter and a stronger and let them point. It is an easier question to answer than 'is it fine?'.
5 · If your taste and their ceiling disagree
Which level applies when they ride, and which when you are alone? That is the question a setting can answer.
6 · Occasional passengers
How often, and whether you can set the level parked before they get in.
I ask you to ask because I cannot, and because guessing a passenger's tolerance is exactly the error this page is about. Give me their answer in their words and the level is theirs. I take it from there to a setting and a first week.
If the passenger's ceiling turns out lower than your taste, the product that holds two levels is SOSA Safar at ₹3,999: three speed settings, a one, two or three-hour auto-off timer, cordless on a 2000 mAh Type-C battery. 6.9 cm, for the cup-holder. Aroma only. This is a candidate if the passenger's answer says so, not a verdict before it.
Once the passenger has given you a ceiling, three mechanisms can hold to it, and they hold to it differently. One is the number of presses. One is a format SOSA itself labels mild. One is a setting and a timer. Which is right depends on how low the ceiling is and how often you want to move it.
₹479 for hanging 12 ml, ₹479 for car perfume spray, ₹1,499 for 50 ml car perfume spray. One product, three variants: a 12 ml Hanging (Mild scent-throw), a Spray (Strong scent-throw) and a 50 ml car perfume spray. The hanging and the spray are the same price. With the spray, the level is how many presses you make, parked, before they get in. Lavender is shown as one scent of eight, not as a verdict.
₹3,999 for SOSA naturals trio, ₹4,499 for hotel-inspired trio. Three speed settings from light to intense and a one, two or three-hour auto-off timer. Cordless, 2000 mAh Type-C, up to ten hours continuous or thirty intermittent per charge. Cold diffusion of pure undiluted oil: no water, no heat, no residue. 6.9 cm. Aroma only; it does not humidify.
₹499 for hanging 12 ml, ₹499 for car perfume spray, ₹1,499 for 50 ml car perfume spray. Lemon is one product with three variants. The 12 ml hanging is labelled Hanging (Mild scent-throw) and the spray Spray (Strong scent-throw). Those are SOSA's labels for the formats, and they are not a promise about what any passenger will find. A hanging cannot be set lower once it is up, which is why the passenger's answer comes first.
Three cards: why strength is different from the other choices, how to ask so that 'less' is an easy answer, and how a ceiling chooses between a press, a hook and a setting.
1
One
Strength is the setting a passenger cannot reach
A buyer decides the format, the scent and the spot. A regular passenger decides none of them, and has no dial. Strength is therefore the one setting the whole cabin shares without sharing the choice. There is a second reason it cannot be the buyer's call alone: the buyer is the person with the most hours in the cabin, so the buyer's own sense of 'faint' is the most adapted in the car. I am claiming nothing about any particular passenger. I am saying the buyer is a poor judge of the shared level, and should hand that judgement over.
Tip: Choose the scent together if you can; but the level is the part worth asking about first.
SOSA Lavender Car Freshener at ₹479, in the format labelled Spray (Strong scent-throw): because the level is your press, it stays in your hands, set parked.
Do not ask whether it is fine. Offer two levels and ask which they would choose, then write down what they said in their own words. Ask something they can answer about the car: do you notice it smells of anything, is there a level you would prefer, if I changed it tomorrow would you want me to tell you? Ask again after a week, because the first answer is to a car that has not yet had a week of it. I will not interpret their answer for you. I will only take it as the ceiling and work down from there.
Tip: Ask on a parked car, with the fragrance at one level and then the other. 'Which of these' is quicker to answer than 'what do you think'.
SOSA Safar at ₹3,999: a lighter and a stronger level are two of its three speeds, so offering your passenger two is a parked tap, not a second product.
A ceiling chooses the mechanism: press, hook or setting
A hanging unit releases at a fixed level and cannot be turned down; it can only be taken down. A spray goes lower by pressing less, and releases only when pressed. Safar has three speeds and a timer that stops it on its own. A ceiling that is close to your taste can be held by any of the three. A ceiling well below your taste needs a mechanism you can move between rides, so it is the spray or the machine, never the hook. Which of those two is a question about how often you will want to move it.
Tip: Write the ceiling as a sentence, not a number: 'lighter than the first one'. Then test it parked.
SOSA Lemon Car Freshener at ₹499: a hanging variant labelled Mild and a spray at the same price, so the question is the mechanism, never a tier.
The buyer chooses the scent, the format and the place. The passenger chooses nothing, which is why the level cannot be the buyer's to set alone.
It is not a rule that the passenger's preference wins on everything. It is a rule that on the one setting they cannot reach, you ask first and you take the answer as a ceiling.
Who is in the car, and what it sets
This table sets out who rides with you and what each situation fixes. Every row concerns a role, never a person's opinion, because the opinion is theirs to give and the table does not forecast it.

The level is yours alone, and the only open question is whether you want it adjustable for your own mood. Skip the rest of this page.
One regular passenger, front seat
Their answer is the ceiling. If it is close to your taste, a light press on a spray holds it. If lower, you need two levels and a way to switch between them parked. View →
Family in the rear seat most days
The lowest ceiling among them is the shared level. Ask each one separately and offer two levels, rather than one asking for the group.
A partner who shares the car equally
Two regular occupants with two tastes. The setting is the thing to agree, because you will each use it. A machine's three speeds are one way to hold both. View →
Colleagues now and then
Occasional, so no standing ceiling. Set the level parked before they get in, and ask them once they have. A lighter press or a lower speed is the whole adjustment.
Several regular passengers who disagree
The lowest ceiling in the car applies whenever all are in. If that leaves you with nothing you enjoy, the answer may be two levels, or it may be nothing.
A ceiling close to your taste can be held by a light press. One well below it needs two levels you can switch between parked. These buttons are those two.
The buyer chooses the scent, the format and the place it sits; the passenger chooses nothing, and that is exactly why they set the level.

How to send the passenger's answer
Write who rides with you, which seat, and the answer in their own words, plus what you would choose for yourself. Add whether you have a mirror to hang from and a free cup-holder. A reply gives a level, a mechanism and a first week, or says to buy nothing.
Three mechanisms for a ceiling
What each one holds, and what it leaves for you to do
₹479 for hanging 12 ml. Spray (Strong scent-throw): press lightly, parked, before they get in. The same price as the hanging on every scent, so a format and not a tier
₹499 for hanging 12 ml. Hanging (Mild scent-throw), the format SOSA itself labels mild. It cannot be set lower once up, so use it only if the answer already says so
A ceiling well below your taste, with two levels to switch
₹3,999 for SOSA naturals trio. Three speeds and a one, two or three-hour timer. Cordless, 2000 mAh Type-C. No cabin figure is published, so none is given
Start with the passenger, not the strength. If something in the cabin smells before any fragrance is added, find the source first, let air through with the doors open, parked, and only then choose a fragrance; fragrance does not remove a smell. If the cabin is clear, Safar is ₹3,999 for SOSA naturals trio, ₹4,499 for hotel-inspired trio and what you are buying is control, not reach, because SOSA publishes no cabin figure for it and nobody should give you one. It is aroma only and does not humidify; it does not dehumidify, dry a cabin or do anything about damp either, and no SOSA product does. A Lavender spray is ₹479, a Lemon one ₹499, and a spray and a hanging variant are the same price on every scent. SOSA is not affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer and makes no health, wellbeing or driving-related claim of any kind. Settings are changed parked. Ours is a contact page and a person who replies: Ask for a car fragrance recommendation.

A note from Sonal
I have a rule about this that I did not choose so much as arrive at: I will not tell you what your passenger thinks. I do not know, and neither does anyone writing a product page. What I can do is say which question to ask them and what to do with the answer. That is a smaller promise than a prediction, and a much more reliable one.
The reason intensity gets this treatment is that it is the one thing in the car with no exit. A passenger has no say in the scent, never chooses the format and may never see where it sits. Nobody can opt out of the strength of the air they are in. So I put the level in their hands, which in practice means yours, once you have asked them properly.
None of this means the answer is always 'less'. Sometimes the ask comes back with a level well above what you expected, and then the question changes. Safar is aroma only and has no published cabin figure; the first week still starts on the lowest speed, parked. A portion of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Frequently asked questions
What if my passenger simply says it is fine?
Then write that down, in their words, and ask again after a week. The first answer is given about a car that has had one day of fragrance, and a second is worth having. If the second agrees, you have a ceiling at least as high as the level you are using. I do not read anything into the wording beyond what they said.
What if I have several regular passengers who disagree?
Ask each one separately and offer the same two levels. The lowest ceiling applies whenever they are all in the car. If that leaves you with a level you do not enjoy, the answer is two levels, one for the full car and one for your own journeys. The family-car page goes through it.
What about passengers I carry only occasionally?
Occasional passengers do not set the standing ceiling. Set the level parked before they get in, using a lighter press or a lower speed, and ask them once they are in. Nothing is changed while moving; if they ask for less mid-journey, note it and change it at the next stop.
Does a lower ceiling mean a different scent?
Not necessarily. Strength and scent are separate questions, and the same scent can be held at two levels. But ask about scent too: a scent your passenger would rather not share a car with is information I would want before I name anything.
Can the passenger change the level themselves?
With a spray, only if you hand it to them, parked. With Safar, the speed and the timer are on the machine, and changing either is a parked job done by whoever holds it. A hanging unit has no setting for anyone to change. That is a fact about the format, and one more reason to ask first.
Ask them first, then the level
SOSA — The Passenger's Answerin their own words, then a level, a mechanism and a first week back from a person
Send who rides with you, which seat, and the answer to the two-level question as they gave it. A person replies. If the ceiling is low and you want two levels, Safar is ₹3,999 with three speeds and a one, two or three-hour timer; if it is close to your taste, a Lavender spray is ₹479. Safar is aroma only. A portion of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
