Founder Diaries · Car Perfumes, Parking & How a Car Is Actually Used
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles9 min readUpdated September 2026
Here is the habit, and almost everybody who drives a car in short hops has it. You park, you do the thing, you come back, you get in - and because getting in is when you spray, you spray. Four journeys becomes four sprays, and the trigger is the ignition rather than the cabin. It is worth pulling those two apart, because the cost is not vague. A 10ml spray holds 100 sprays, and that is a published figure, not an estimate. Four a day is twenty-five days. One a day is the published three months and above. Same bottle, same price, four times the rate - and the only thing that changed was a habit nobody decided on.
This is the cleanest piece of arithmetic in the whole car range, so here it is first. A 10ml spray holds 100 sprays. Four journeys a day with a spray before each is four a day, and four a day empties a 10ml in about 25 days. One spray a day is the published 3 months and above. Nothing has gone wrong in the first case; a restart is simply not a reason, and the bottle is keeping an honest score.
Quick answers — read this first
Should you spray car perfume again after restarting the car? There is no published reason to. The cabin was shut for twenty minutes, not emptied, and what you put in it at the start of the day has not been taken out by switching the ignition off and on. The cost of treating a restart as a trigger is countable: a 10ml spray holds 100 sprays, so four trips a day with a spray before each is about 25 days of bottle.
How long does a 10ml car perfume spray last? SOSA publishes the count and the working. A 10ml is 100 sprays, which the pages give as 3 months and above at one spray a day and 50 days at two a day. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more at ₹1,499. Everything else is your own division.
Does an electric car make several short journeys a different fragrance problem? No. SOSA publishes no electric, petrol or diesel product and no powertrain claim of any kind. Several short journeys is a pattern of use, and the pattern is what matters: how often the doors open, how long the car sits shut between trips, and whether anybody else is in it. A petrol hatchback on the same school-and-errands round has the identical question.
The short answer
Short answer: A restart is not a reason to spray again. A SOSA 10ml spray is Rs 449 to Rs 549 and holds 100 sprays: one a day is 3 months and above, two a day is 50 days, and four trips a day with a spray before each empties it in about 25 days. Nothing about this changes with what the car runs on.
Why: The cabin was shut between trips rather than emptied, so the second spray is answering the engine rather than the air, and the bottle pays for it at four times the rate.
A car spends most of its life empty. The hours that matter are the ones somebody is sitting in it, and on a typical commute that is one or two out of twenty-four. The useful decision is therefore not which product lasts longest while nobody is there - it is whether you want fragrance you switch on or fragrance that simply runs. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, which is three months at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks and its stopper loosens for more or tightens for less. Nothing here depends on what is under the bonnet.
My electric hatchback makes several 10 to 15 minute journeys throughout the day - should I avoid automatically spraying fragrance before every trip just because the car has been restarted?
Yes, and this is the one question in the whole car range that settles with division rather than opinion.A SOSA 10ml spray is ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon and ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze, and every one of them is published at 100 sprays. The pages give the working: 3 months and above at one spray a day, or 50 days at two a day. Carry that on. Four trips a day with a spray before each one is four a day, and four a day empties a 10ml in about 25 days. State it plainly to yourself before you decide the bottle is small: a hundred doses met a habit of four, and twenty-five days is what that produces. Now the reason the habit is not needed. Between a 10 to 15 minute trip and the next one, the car has been shut, not aired out. Turning the ignition off and on again does nothing to the air inside the cabin, and neither does a twenty-minute stop with the doors closed. The trigger people actually have is the moment of getting in, which is a perfectly good trigger once a day and an expensive one four times a day. If you want the cabin to be something rather than to be decided, the 12ml hanging is the same price for the same scent, runs 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle, and is adjusted by loosening the stopper for stronger or tightening it for subtler - no decision at any door, at any point in the day. Two things this page will not pretend. The powertrain is not a variable here: SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and no powertrain claim, and the same round of short errands in a petrol car raises exactly this question. And fragrance adds a scent; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, so a second spray is not undoing anything that happened in the car park. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
A restart is not a reset. Four sprays a day is about 25 days of a 100-spray bottle, and that is a habit, not a defect.
The arithmetic, plainly: a 10ml is 100 sprays. One a day is 3 months and above. Two a day is 50 days. Four trips a day with a spray before each is about 25 days. All three are the same bottle from ₹449 - the difference is entirely the habit, and a restarted engine is not a reason to press it again.
Three reasons the restart is not the trigger you think it is
The spray-per-trip habit is not carelessness, it is a trigger that attached itself to the wrong event. Three things explain it and undo it, and the third is the one that changes behaviour, because it has a number in it.
01
Shut, not emptied
The car was closed between trips, and closed is the point
A car that has been parked for twenty minutes with the doors shut has not had its air replaced. Nothing about switching the ignition off and on changes what is in the cabin, and SOSA publishes no claim that it does, because there is nothing to claim. If the scent you put in at eight in the morning is noticeably gone by eleven, the thing that changed is more likely the windows being down, a long stop with the door open, or simply the fact that you have been sitting in it and your passenger has not. The engine is not the variable. The closure is, and on this driving pattern the cabin is closed almost all day.
Tip: Twenty minutes parked with the doors shut is not a reset.
02
The division
100 sprays, four a day, about 25 days - say it out loud
This is the number that ends the argument. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays. The pages publish the working at the two most common rates - 3 months and above at one spray a day, and 50 days at two a day - and the rest is yours to carry on. Four separate journeys a day with a spray before each empties a 10ml in about 25 days. Six a day would be faster still. There is nothing wrong with choosing that; what goes wrong is arriving at it without noticing and then concluding the bottle was smaller than advertised. It was not. The habit was bigger than expected, and the bottle is simply a counter.
03
Trigger, not need
Getting in is a habit cue, and habit cues can be moved
Most people who spray four times a day did not decide to. The bottle lives in the door bin, getting in is the moment it is in your hand, and getting in happens four times. Move the cue and the rate falls without any willpower: spray once, as part of leaving in the morning, and keep the bottle where it is not in your hand at every other door-opening. If the cabin then feels flat by the afternoon, that is real information worth acting on - and the action is either a second spray at a fixed point, which the pages price at 50 days at two a day, or the hanging at the same price, which removes the cue altogether by running for 4 to 6 weeks on its own.
Tip: A rate you chose is fine. A rate that chose you is the problem.
The one number that settles most of this
A 10ml spray is 100 sprays. The rest is division.
SOSA publishes the count on the bottle: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, and the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The pages state the working too - three months and above at one spray a day, and fifty days at two a day. That turns a vague question into an arithmetic one. Spray before every journey and somebody making four short trips a day is out of a 10ml in about twenty-five days; the same bottle in the hands of somebody who sprays once each morning lasts the published three months. Neither is wrong - but only one of them is what the person expected when they bought it. Work out your own number before you decide the product is not lasting, because a hundred sprays is a hundred sprays regardless of how the car is powered.
Count today's door-openings honestly. Then count the sprays. They are rarely equal.
Fix one cue: the first journey of the day. Ignore every restart after it.
Divide 100 sprays by your daily rate. That is your bottle, in days.
If the evening drive feels flat, add one fixed spray, not four opportunistic ones.
The SOSA principle
The bottle is not a duration claim. It is a counter, and it counts honestly: a hundred doses meeting a four-a-day habit is twenty-five days, every time.
Which is why this page would rather give you the division than a recommendation about how often to spray.
Picking a scent for a car you get in and out of all day
For a car you are in and out of all day, most people want something that reads clearly on entry without asking for attention afterwards. Lemon at ₹499 and Icy Mint at ₹489 are the brightest, with Sea Breeze at ₹509 alongside them. Jasmine at ₹449 and Lavender at ₹479 are the softest the range publishes. Sandalwood at ₹479, Vetiver at ₹509 and Oud at ₹509 run deeper, Oud deepest. Mysore Orange Blossom at ₹549 is spray only, which is worth checking before you plan around a hanging.
The SOSA gift edit
Four routines for a car that makes several short trips a day
The option
Who it suits, and where it fails
One spray a day, 10ml from ₹449
The published 3 months and above out of 100 sprays. It fails only if the cabin genuinely feels flat by evening, in which case the honest next step is a second fixed spray, not a fourth opportunistic one.
A spray before every trip
Complete freshness at every door-opening, and about 25 days out of a 10ml at four trips a day. Not wrong, but it should be a decision you made rather than one your door bin made for you.
A 12ml hanging, the same price
4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion with no cue and no decision, adjusted only by its stopper. It fails if you wanted the car stronger for one particular journey, because it has one setting until you change it.
The 50ml spray at ₹1,499
500 sprays and about a year and more. It is the right size once your rate is settled and the wrong one while it is still moving, because there is no spray refill and you would be committing a year to an untested habit.
The format choice, and why price does not decide it
Spray or hanging - the same price, scent for scent
This is the unusual part of the SOSA car range and it makes the decision cleaner than it usually is: the spray and the hanging cost the same for any given scent - ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze. So you are not trading money against convenience; you are choosing between fragrance you decide to have and fragrance that is simply there. The spray is 100 sprays in 10ml and you control every one of them. The hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass and asks nothing of you, and its stopper is the strength control - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler. One further practical difference that decides it for some people: 15ml refills exist for the hanging and there is no spray refill at all.
Three published facts that bear on a high-frequency routine. There is no spray refill - the 15ml refills at ₹399 to ₹449 are for the hanging's refillable glass bottle, across eight scents, with none for Orange Blossom. A spray combo is 200 sprays across two 10ml bottles, published at 100 days at two a day rotating, which is a way of having two scents rather than a way of having more of one. And everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity - a statement about the formula, not a claim about any season.
₹449 to ₹549, published at 100 sprays. Fragrance you decide to have, journey by journey - which is the format that suits a car occupied an hour or two a day.
The same price as the spray, published at 4 to 6 weeks in a refillable glass bottle. The stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler - which is the only strength control SOSA publishes.
Three sprays from ₹699, or all nine at ₹2,999. Nine published combinations and those nine are the whole range - you pick from them, you do not assemble one.
from ₹699
The premise worth rejecting before anything else
A fragrance does not know what is turning the wheels.
There is no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product in the SOSA range, and SOSA publishes nothing whatsoever about powertrain - because a perfume in a closed cabin behaves the same way whether that cabin is being pushed along by a battery or an engine. What genuinely differs between two owners is everything else: where the car is parked and for how long, how many separate journeys it makes in a day, how many of those hours anybody is actually inside it, whether the windows are open, and who else is in the car. Those are real variables and they change the answer completely. The published figures speak to them directly: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, which is three months and more at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously with a stopper that loosens for more and tightens for less; the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. So when two people with identical cars need different answers, it is never because one of them is electric.
Tell SOSA how many hours a day somebody is actually sitting in the car, where it is parked and for how long, whether the windows are usually open or shut, and who else drives it - and you will be told which format and how much, including the times the honest answer is the hanging at the same price because you would rather not think about it.
A hundred sprays meeting a four-a-day habit is twenty-five days. The bottle did not shrink. The habit grew, and nobody decided it.

The SOSA gifting range
Two questions settle almost every car fragrance decision, and neither of them is what the car runs on. How many hours a day is somebody actually sitting in it? A 25 km commute is about an hour; a field job can be four. That number decides how much of what you buy is experienced by anybody at all, because the rest of the day is a sealed cabin in a parking bay. Then: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray holds 100 sprays and does nothing until you press it; the 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks whether anybody is there or not, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. They cost the same for the same scent, so price does not decide it - which is unusual, and useful.
The SOSA range, sorted by how much it asks of the person receiving it
Start from what the gift demands, not from what it costs
₹449 to ₹549 across nine scents. Published at 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day. A fine-mist atomizer; one spray covers the cabin
The same price as the spray, scent for scent. Published at 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle, and the stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler
₹1,499, published at 500 sprays and about a year and more. The honest size when you already know the routine, and the wrong one while you are still working it out
₹899 for Jasmine & Lemon or Jasmine & Lavender; ₹949 for Oud + Lemon or Sandalwood & Oud. Spray combo (2 x 10ml) or hanging combo (2 x 12ml) at the same price. Four published pairs
₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. There is no spray refill, and Orange Blossom has no refill at all - so if refilling matters, that decides the format for you
₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. A different category from a spray or a hanging, and listed here so you can rule it in or out rather than wonder
from ₹3,999
The fact that answers most of these questions is a division sum. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays. Somebody who sprays before each of four short daily trips empties it in about twenty-five days; somebody who sprays once a day gets the published three months and more. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks instead, continuously, and its stopper adjusts the strength - loosen for more, tighten for less. Spray and hanging are the same price scent for scent, so the choice is genuinely about how you want to use the car rather than what you want to spend. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, made in India. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour and it does not clean the air - so a car that has developed a smell is a question about the car, not about the perfume. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available, with quantities settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

What the SOSA car pages publish, and what they do not
Everything below is on the live product pages. Anything not on this list is not something a page like this should state.
The published quantities - a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, stated as 3 months and above at one a day and 50 days at two a day. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more, at ₹1,499. A spray combo is 200 sprays, stated as 100 days at two a day rotating. These are the only usage figures SOSA gives.
The hanging - 4 to 6 weeks (28 to 42 days) of continuous diffusion per 12ml bottle, in refillable glass, and the stopper adjusts the strength: loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler.
Combos and the Discovery Set - four published pairs at ₹899 and ₹949, as a spray combo (2 x 10ml) or a hanging combo (2 x 12ml) at the same price. The Discovery Set is ₹699 to ₹899 for three sprays and ₹2,999 for all nine. Those nine combinations are the entire set range and none is composed to order.
Refills - 15ml hanging refills at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. There is no spray refill and Orange Blossom has no refill.
The formulation - alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, made in India.

A note from Sonal
We get asked which car perfume is right for an electric car, and I have never been able to give the answer the question wants. There isn't one. A fragrance sits in a closed box of air with a person in it, and that box does not behave differently because the thing moving it is a battery. If anyone tells you otherwise they are selling you a category, not a product.
What I can tell you is what actually changes between two owners, because it is not subtle. One car is occupied ninety minutes a day and another is occupied six. One sits in a basement and one bakes outdoors for nine hours. One has the windows down for the first ten minutes of every drive and one never opens them at all. One is driven by three people who want three different things from it. Those differences are enormous, and none of them is on the spec sheet of the car.
So the numbers I would want you to hold on to are the ones about use rather than about chemistry. A 10ml spray is a hundred sprays. That is three months if you spray once a day and about fifty days if you spray twice, and if you spray before every one of four short errands it is gone in under a month. The hanging runs four to six weeks and you can loosen or tighten the stopper to change it. Those two facts settle more of these questions than anything I could tell you about the car.
And the part I will not pretend about: a perfume cannot fix a smell. It adds a scent, it does not remove one. If a car has started smelling of something it did not smell of before, that is a question about the car - the air-conditioning, the mats, something in the boot, water that got in during the monsoon - and adding fragrance on top of it is the one thing I would ask you not to do.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to spray again after the car has been parked and restarted?
No published reason exists to. The cabin was shut between the trips rather than aired out, and the ignition has no bearing on what is in the air. SOSA publishes nothing that would make a restart a trigger. What a restart does is put you back in the seat, which is where the habit lives, and moving the cue to the first journey of the day is what changes the rate.
How fast does a bottle go if I spray before every journey?
A 10ml is published at 100 sprays. Four separate journeys a day with a spray before each is four a day, and that empties a 10ml in about 25 days. At one a day the same bottle is the published 3 months and above, and at two a day it is 50 days. The arithmetic is the same for every scent, because every 10ml holds 100 sprays.
Does an electric hatchback with lots of short trips need more fragrance?
No. SOSA publishes no electric, petrol or diesel product and no powertrain claim whatsoever. Short trips matter because they mean frequent door-openings and long shut periods in between, and that pattern is identical in a petrol car doing the same errands.
Why do I stop noticing the scent by the afternoon?
Trust your passenger before you trust your own impression, because somebody getting in once is the better judge than somebody who has been in and out all day. The measurable signal is the bottle: if it is emptying faster than the published rate you had in mind, your habit has moved. A 10ml is 100 sprays, so what is left tells you what you have actually been doing.
Would the hanging solve this?
It removes the decision, which is what the habit is made of. A 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle and is adjusted by loosening the stopper for stronger or tightening it for subtler. It costs the same as the spray for the same scent. What it cannot do is give one journey more than another, so it trades control for consistency.
Take the next step
One spray a day, or four - the bottle will tell you which you chose
A 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 is 100 sprays. At one a day that is the published 3 months and above; at two a day it is 50 days; before each of four daily trips it is about 25 days. The 12ml hanging at the same price removes the decision entirely - 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion, adjusted only by its stopper. The 50ml at ₹1,499 is 500 sprays and about a year and more, which is the right buy once you know your own rate rather than while you are discovering it.
Not sure which one suits the person you are buying for? Send SOSA their age, whether they drive, whether they like their home scented and your budget on WhatsApp, and you will get an honest answer - including when the cheaper product is the better gift.

What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any difference in fragrance behaviour between petrol, diesel and electric vehicles - SOSA makes no powertrain-specific product and no powertrain claim; any cabin-volume, coverage, scent-throw, projection or evaporation figure; any claim about how a scent is perceived over hours or about sensory adaptation; any seasonal performance claim beyond the stated formulation for heat and humidity; any shelf life, expiry or concentration; and any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a cabin. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, it does not clean the air, and a car that has developed a new smell is a question about the vehicle rather than about perfume. No health claim is made anywhere on this page, in either direction - nothing here states or implies that any fragrance causes or prevents a headache, nausea, motion sickness or any other effect, and nothing is said about safety in pregnancy or for children or the elderly, because SOSA publishes no information this page can rely on. No third-party brand is named and no competitor or category of competing product is characterised. No rating, review count, strength percentage or customer name from any product page is cited. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; that is the only branding option, and quantities are settled on WhatsApp. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
