Why a damp car smells - and why fragrance alone never fixes it
A musty car is almost always a water problem wearing a smell. Damp settles into floor mats, carpet underlay, seat foam and the boot, and the bacteria and mould that grow there are what your nose actually picks up. Common culprits in India: monsoon shoes and umbrellas, a window left cracked in the rain, a blocked sunroof or door drain, a leaking door seal, or simply parking somewhere humid and shaded so the cabin never dries out.
What fragrance does and does not do
A car perfume masks and freshens the air. It is a layer of pleasant scent on top of whatever is already there. It does not dry damp fabric, kill mould, neutralise the source, or purify the air. If the carpet is wet, a fragrance simply sits on top of the musty note - and the musty note wins. This is true of every brand, not just ours.
So the work happens before the bottle. Dry the source out: on a dry day, open all the doors and let the cabin breathe; lift the mats and dry them in the sun; run the blower and air-con on fresh-air (not recirculate) to pull moisture out; and find the actual leak - a wet patch in the footwell or boot is a drain or seal issue, not a fragrance issue.
