It depends entirely on your layout: Sukoons if the rooms are separate and enclosed, a Vaayu if the living-dining is one large, open span. The two are not rivals - they solve different shapes of space, and a large 3BHK often wants both.
Quick answers — read this first
Which one for a large 3BHK? If the rooms are separate and enclosed, several Sukoons (₹1,799 each). If the living-dining is a large open span, one Vaayu (₹11,999) there, with Sukoons in the bedrooms.

Why not just Sukoons everywhere? Because a Sukoon is a per-room, enclosed-room device. Across a large open living-dining its mist fades before it fills the volume - that open span is a Vaayu job.

Can I use both? Yes, and for a large 3BHK that is often the best answer - a Vaayu for the big open area plus Sukoons in the enclosed bedrooms.
The short answer
Short answer: For a large 3BHK, choose Sukoons if the rooms are separate and enclosed, and a Vaayu if the living-dining is one large open span - most large 3BHKs use both: a Vaayu for the open area, Sukoons in the bedrooms.
The pick: the SOSA Sukoon (₹1,799) ultrasonic diffuser plus a Hotel Collection scent (from ₹299) is the hotel-at-home starter; a Boond (₹799) suits a small room or desk, and for a large, open-plan or high-humidity space the waterless Vaayu (₹11,999) adds no moisture.

Straight answer
Sukoon or Vaayu - which is better for a large 3BHK?
1. Look at the living-dining first. Is it one large open span (living + dining, maybe the kitchen), or an enclosed, normal-sized room?

2. Enclosed rooms mean Sukoons. If your 3BHK is a set of separate, walled rooms, a Sukoon (₹1,799) per used room is the answer.

3. A large open living-dining means Vaayu. Above ~300 sq ft, open-plan or high-ceilinged, ultrasonic mist cannot fill it - use one waterless Vaayu (₹11,999, up to 1000m³).

4. Consider humidity. In coastal or already-humid air, the Vaayu adds no moisture - a point in its favour for the open area.

5. Combine for the best of both. Vaayu for the open living-dining, Sukoons in the enclosed bedrooms - the recommended large-3BHK setup.

One line: enclosed rooms → Sukoons (₹1,799); large open living-dining → one Vaayu (₹11,999); large 3BHK → usually both.

How to read your layout and pick

1
SUKOON = ROOMS
Enclosed, separate spaces
Sukoon - the diffuser Sukoon · the diffuser₹1,799 The Sukoon is a per-room ultrasonic diffuser: it fills one enclosed room up to ~200-250 sq ft beautifully and evenly. If your large 3BHK is a set of proper walled rooms - a separate living room, a dining room, three bedrooms - then several Sukoons, one per room, is the right and most economical answer. Each room gets its own scent and its own device; nothing is asked to reach further than the walls around it.
Tip: Separate rooms, closed doors, normal ceilings - that is a Sukoon layout.
2
VAAYU = VOLUME
Large, open, high-ceilinged
Vaayu - large room Vaayu · large room₹11,999 The Vaayu is a waterless cold-air machine that scents a large volume - up to 1000m³, roughly a big open living-dining or a villa floor - with app control and timers, and no added humidity. When your 3BHK's living-dining is one open span above ~300 sq ft, ultrasonic mist simply cannot fill it; the Vaayu is built for exactly that volume. It is not a 'stronger Sukoon' - it is the right tool for open air.
3
OFTEN BOTH
The hybrid large-3BHK setup
Boond - small room Boond · small room₹799 Most large 3BHKs are a mix: one big open living-dining and three enclosed bedrooms. The best answer is the hybrid - a Vaayu handling the open common area and a Sukoon in each bedroom. The Hotel Collection scents run through the Sukoons; the Vaayu runs its own oil in the open zone. Combining cold-air and ultrasonic in one home is not a compromise - it is the recommended setup for a large flat.
Tip: Vaayu for the open zone, Sukoons for the bedrooms - the large-3BHK standard.

The SOSA principle
Sukoon and Vaayu are not better or worse than each other - one is for rooms and the other for open volume. A large 3BHK usually has both, so it usually wants both.

Nobody asks whether a lamp is better than a chandelier. It depends on the room - and so does the choice between a Sukoon and a Vaayu.

Add just 3-6 drops to the Sukoon's water tank and adjust to taste - a little goes a long way - and rinse the tank when you switch scents so each stays true. These are water-based, ultrasonic-safe fragrances made for SOSA diffusers; do not substitute raw essential or carrier oils, which can clog the misting plate. Frequently asked questions

Is the Vaayu just a more powerful Sukoon?
No - they work differently. The Sukoon is an ultrasonic diffuser that mists water and scent into one enclosed room; the Vaayu is a waterless cold-air machine that scents a large open volume with no added humidity. One is for a room, the other for open space - different jobs, not different power levels.
My 3BHK has separate rooms but they're big - Sukoon or Vaayu?
If each room is enclosed and up to roughly ~250 sq ft at a normal ceiling, a Sukoon per room still works. Only when a single room is a large open span above ~300 sq ft, or has a high ceiling, does that room want a Vaayu. Judge each room by whether it is open or enclosed.
Is it cheaper to buy Sukoons than a Vaayu?
For enclosed rooms, yes - three Sukoons at ₹1,799 each cost far less than one Vaayu at ₹11,999, and they scent three rooms. The Vaayu is worth it only when you have one genuinely large open volume that Sukoons cannot fill - then it is the right spend, not an upgrade for its own sake.
Can I run Hotel Collection scents in the Vaayu?
The Vaayu is a waterless cold-air machine that runs its own oil, while the water-based Hotel Collection is made for the ultrasonic Sukoon and Boond. In a hybrid home the Sukoons carry the Hotel Collection scents and the Vaayu runs its own - a tidy division of labour.
What if I already own Sukoons and my living-dining feels weak?
That is the classic sign the open area is a Vaayu job - the Sukoon is right for your bedrooms but cannot fill an open living-dining. Keep the Sukoons in the enclosed rooms and add one Vaayu for the open span; that hybrid is the intended large-3BHK setup.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the technique applies to any brand's ultrasonic system.

Facts verified August 2026: An ultrasonic diffuser disperses a water-based fragrance as a cool micro-mist, scenting a room without heat or flame and adding a little humidity. Great hotels use commercial HVAC scenting to create a signature smell; at home the same effect comes from a diffuser plus a hotel-inspired blend. SOSA Sukoon is a 500ml ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser with a 7-colour mood light (₹1,799); Boond is a 300ml mini ultrasonic diffuser (₹799); both run the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance. The Hotel Collection comes in seven scents (Ritz-Carlton, Westin, 1 Hotels, St. Regis, Shangri-La, Four Seasons and W Hotels styles) in 15ml (₹299), 100ml (₹999) and 300ml (₹1,799), plus 15ml Pack of 7 (₹1,799); dose 3-6 drops per tank, use SOSA diffuser fragrance only (not raw essential/carrier oils), and rinse between scents. For large, open-plan or high-humidity spaces the waterless SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999, up to 1000m³) adds no humidity; the Aangan (₹25,999) is a whole-home HVAC system. The scents are SOSA's own interpretations; SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
