This is one of the few questions in the cluster with a one-word answer, and the word is no. What is worth reading is the reason, because it is physical rather than aesthetic - and the same reason rules out several other ideas people arrive with.
Quick answers — read this first
Should the designer's consultation table be scented differently from the display floor? No, on two separate grounds and either one settles it. First, the physical one: unless the table sits behind a shut door with its own air supply, it is in the same volume of air as the floor, so a second profile does not stay where you put it - it mixes in the aisle and you get a muddle. Second, the practical one: a source two metres from someone seated for ninety minutes is the strongest air you could give the person who needs the weakest.
But the table is where the relationship happens. Shouldn't it get more attention? It gets more attention through everything except fragrance. The desk earns its atmosphere from light quality, a clear surface, the state of the samples and how the designer works - and from the fact that the fragrance there is quieter, not louder. The consultation area should be the calmest part of your showroom's air, not the most decorated. If it needs anything at all it is less, and less is free.
What is the correct setup, and what does it cost? One source for the whole volume, placed upstream on the air path and as far from the desk as the plan allows. For a floor past about 1,500 sq ft that is one SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999; under about 750 sq ft one SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899, and a Vaayu would be the wrong buy. Spend on the desk: ₹0.
The short answer
Short answer: no. The desk and the display floor share one volume of air, so a separate profile at the table mixes in the aisle rather than staying where you put it - and a second source two metres from a customer seated for ninety minutes is the worst placement in the building. One machine upstream covers both: a Vaayu at ₹11,999, or a Sukoon at ₹1,899 under 750 sq ft.
The pick: one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) upstream on the air path and well away from the consultation desk, or one SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) where the showroom is a single room under about 750 sq ft.
Next step: send the floor plan showing where the designer's desk sits, where the air enters and whether anything separates the two, and we will tell you where the single source belongs - Ask for a retail scenting plan.
There are two independent reasons this idea fails, and both of them are about air rather than about taste. Either one on its own would be enough to settle the question.
The showroom machine - tap to see the specification
Should the designer's consultation table be scented differently from the display floor?
No. And the answer stays no even when the showroom is beautiful, the designer is your best one and the table sits in its own alcove, because the objections are physical. Take them in order. The first is that a consultation desk on a display floor is not a separate volume of air. A zone on a floor plan is a merchandising idea; a zone of air is a volume with a real boundary - a wall to the ceiling, a door that shuts, its own air handling. A desk in an alcove, behind a half-height partition, or at the quiet end of an open floor shares its air with everything around it. So if you put a second fragrance there, it does not stay there. It drifts, meets the floor's profile somewhere in the middle, and the customer walking from the display kitchens to the desk passes through a zone of neither - a muddle that reads as confusion rather than as design. One volume of air can hold exactly one fragrance, which is the same reason display kitchens cannot have personalities of their own. The second objection is about the person sitting there. Suppose you solved the mixing problem, which you cannot, and gave the desk its own scented pocket. You would have put the strongest air in your building at the one seat where a customer stays longest - sixty to ninety minutes, sometimes twice in a fortnight, while reading a quotation and deciding between finishes. Exposure accumulates over that time, and the person receiving it has not moved and cannot step away without seeming rude. A source two metres from that chair is the worst-placed machine in the building, and I have been sent photographs of exactly this: a small diffuser on the credenza behind the customer's seat, put there by somebody trying to be generous. Generosity is the wrong instinct at that distance. Now, the wish underneath the question is legitimate and worth answering properly. People ask this because the desk is where the relationship is made and they want it to feel special. It should - and everything that makes it feel special is available without a fragrance decision. A clear surface. Light of a decent quality and colour over the samples, because material selection is a visual and tactile task and lighting does most of this work. Samples that are clean and in order rather than scuffed. Chairs that suit an hour and a half. Water. A designer who is not being interrupted. Against those, a separate fragrance contributes nothing and takes something away. So: one profile for the whole volume, one source, placed upstream on the air path - near where air enters the room, roughly a metre off the floor, out of the AC return's pull, not at the door, never inside a display kitchen and never on or beside the desk. The natural gradient from a single source then does the thing you actually wanted: the desk, being furthest from the machine, is the quietest air in the showroom, which is exactly right for the seat with the longest dwell. Register is unchanged from the rest of the building: dry, clean and material-led - dry woods, something green or herbal, a dry tea, clean mineral - and nothing edible at all. Our own Fresh Brew, coffee and vanilla at ₹849, is precisely the register to avoid, and it would be worst of all at a desk. Hardware, plainly. Past about 1,500 sq ft, one SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999: rated to 1000m³, waterless, under 38dB so it is inaudible at the desk, on trading-hours timers, with a key-lock that is genuinely useful here because it stops a well-meaning colleague adding to the setting on a quiet afternoon. Under about 750 sq ft, one SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899, placed at the opposite end of the room from the desk, and a Vaayu would be the wrong buy. Additional spend on the desk itself: ₹0. Three standing limits. Judge the level from the desk chair at minute ninety, not from the entrance. Fragrance is never a mask for laminate, adhesive or new joinery, which need ventilation and curing time. And plainly: no one can promise you that ambient scent moves footfall, enquiries, order value or a customer's decision to buy a kitchen, and a supplier who offers you a figure is selling. Ask for a retail scenting plan and send the floor plan with the desk marked.
No, for two independent reasons: the desk shares the floor's air so a second profile mixes rather than staying put, and a source beside a customer seated for ninety minutes is the worst placement in the building. One machine upstream, ₹11,999 or ₹1,899, and nothing on the desk.
One SOSA Vaayu covers the display floor and the desk from one position - 1000m³, under 38dB, key-locked so no one quietly adds a second unit near the table. ₹11,999. Under about 750 sq ft, the Sukoon at ₹1,899 is the honest buy, placed at the far end from the desk.
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, roughly 2,000-3,000 sq ft. 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app with 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, auto-stop and key-lock. One unit near where air enters the floor covers the display kitchens and the consultation desk with a single profile.
Ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft, supplied with three 15ml fragrances. Where the showroom is one room with a designer's table in it, this is the honest buy at a sixth of the price, placed at the opposite end from the desk so every metre of separation is being used.
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft), 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mount, auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS certified. Made in India. Cold-air refill oil is not currently sold separately - the machine ships with 400ml and further supply should be confirmed with SOSA.
The three reasons the desk gets nothing of its own
Two of the three are about air and one is about what the desk actually needs. All three end in the same place.

Count volumes, not areas
A desk in an alcove is not a separate volume of air
A zone on a floor plan and a zone of air are different objects, and only the second one matters for fragrance. A real boundary is a wall to the ceiling, a door that shuts, or an independent air supply. A half-height partition, a change of flooring, a run of tall units and a low ceiling raft are all merchandising boundaries, and air walks straight past them. So a fragrance placed at the desk drifts onto the floor and the floor's profile drifts onto the desk, and they meet somewhere in the middle. What a customer perceives walking that route is not two ideas but one unresolved one. If your desk genuinely is behind a shut door with its own air, you have a consultation room rather than a desk, and that is a different question with its own answer.
Tip: Test it with a shut door and a tissue before you believe you have two zones.
One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.
Ninety seated minutes is the wrong place to concentrate anything
Even if the mixing problem could be solved, you would not want the result. Exposure accumulates with time, so the seat with the longest dwell in the building is the seat that needs the least. A customer at that table is there for sixty to ninety minutes while a quotation is discussed; they cannot step outside for air without it looking like a negotiating position. So the correct treatment is the opposite of extra: the desk should sit at the far, quiet end of the gradient a single source produces. That is not a compromise, it is the design. And if anybody at the table minds the fragrance, the machine goes off in seconds - anyone on the floor should be able to do that without asking.
Tip: Sit in the customer's chair for a full ninety minutes before you decide anything.
One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.
Light, order and a clear surface do the work fragrance is being asked to do
The wish behind this question is real: the desk is where the relationship is made and people want it to feel considered. It can, and none of it is a fragrance decision. Good light over the samples, because choosing a finish is a visual and tactile task and colour rendering matters more than anything in the air. Samples clean and in order. A clear surface rather than a working one. Chairs somebody can sit in for ninety minutes. A designer who is not being interrupted every four minutes. Spend the attention there and the desk feels premium at a lower fragrance level than the rest of the floor, which is the correct way round.
Tip: Fix the lighting over the sample tray before you think about the air at all.
One Mountain Breeze reed diffuser ₹849, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.
A consultation desk is the one place in a showroom where the right amount of attention and the right amount of fragrance point in opposite directions - more of the first, less of the second.
Which is why the best-treated desk in any showroom I visit is usually also the quietest air in the building.
One profile, one volume: SOSA Vaayu placed upstream covers the display kitchens and the desk with a single register and a single setting. ₹11,999.
A lock that prevents the second machine: Key-lock and app control mean the plan you set is the one still running when somebody enthusiastic joins the team. ₹11,999.
Somebody always wants to put a little diffuser on the credenza behind the customer's chair. It is the kindest possible instinct and it produces the single worst seat in the showroom.

Why one machine is the specification
Enough reach for the whole floor, and a lock against good intentions
Two machines cover almost every showroom with a designer's table on the floor, and in both cases the table itself gets nothing. Cold-air refill oil for the Vaayu is not currently sold separately, so the 400ml supplied runs 90+ days a fill and continuity of supply should be confirmed with SOSA before a rollout. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One volume of air takes one fragrance, the source goes upstream and the desk sits at the quiet end of the gradient. Ambient scent here is a presentation decision like the lighting over your sample tray; it is never a mask for laminate, adhesive or new joinery, which need ventilation and curing time instead; and no one can promise you that scent moves a business number, so a supplier quoting you one is selling rather than advising. Ask for a retail scenting plan before you spend anything.

A note from Sonal
The reason I like this question is that people ask it out of care. They have a designer they are proud of, a table where the real work happens, and they want that corner of the showroom to feel like the best part of it. My answer sounds ungenerous for about a minute and then makes sense: the desk gets more of everything except fragrance, and the reason is that it holds the longest visit in the building.
There is also a plain physical fact underneath, which is that a desk on an open floor is not a separate volume of air. Whatever you put there does not stay there; it mixes with the floor's profile in the aisle and the customer walks through a muddle on the way to the chair. One volume takes one fragrance. If the desk really is behind a shut door with its own air conditioning, then you have a consultation room, and even then the honest answer is that it inherits the floor quietly rather than producing anything of its own.
On hardware: one Vaayu at ₹11,999 for a floor past about 1,500 sq ft, or a Sukoon at ₹1,899 under 750, and nothing at all on the desk. Fragrance is never a substitute for ventilation, nobody can promise you a commercial result, and if the showroom still smells of its own fit-out then buy neither machine yet. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Frequently asked questions
Should the designer's consultation table be scented differently from the display floor?
No. Unless the table sits behind a shut door with its own air supply, it shares one volume of air with the floor, so a second profile drifts and mixes in the aisle rather than staying where you put it. And a source close to a customer seated for sixty to ninety minutes puts the strongest air in the building at the seat that needs the weakest.
Can I put a small diffuser on the credenza behind the customer's chair?
Please do not. That is the worst position in the showroom. The customer has not moved for an hour and a half, exposure accumulates over that time, and they cannot step away for air without it looking like a negotiating move. One source goes upstream on the display floor, and the desk sits at the far, quiet end of the gradient it produces.
How do I make the consultation desk feel special without fragrance?
With everything except fragrance. Good light over the samples, since choosing a finish is a visual and tactile task and colour rendering matters more than anything in the air. Clean samples in order, a clear surface rather than a working one, chairs somebody can sit in for ninety minutes, and a designer who is not being interrupted. The desk then reads as premium at a lower fragrance level.
What machine covers a floor with a consultation desk on it?
One. Past about 1,500 sq ft, a SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999, rated to 1000m3, waterless, under 38dB and key-locked, placed near where air enters and away from the desk. Under about 750 sq ft, a SOSA Sukoon at Rs 1,899 at the opposite end of the room from the table, and a Vaayu would be the wrong buy at that size.
Would a special scent at the desk help a designer close the sale?
No one can promise that, and I will not. SOSA has run no research that would support a figure, and there is no honest way to separate ambient scent from the design work, the samples, the pricing and the designer's own manner. What is certain is the physical part: a separate profile at a desk on an open floor mixes with the floor's profile rather than staying put.
The single-room version: A SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 under about 750 sq ft, placed at the opposite end of the room from the designer's table.

Facts verified 5 September 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with adjustable intensity, a 400ml refillable tank lasting 90+ days a fill depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and button control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, operation under 38dB at 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, auto-stop and key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS certification, which are electrical and compliance marks and not medical approvals. Being waterless, it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on surfaces or equipment. The SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) is an ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft and is supplied with three 15ml fragrances; the water-based Hotel Collection (₹299 / ₹999 / ₹1,799) is an ultrasonic fragrance and is not a refill for a waterless cold-air machine. SOSA reed diffusers are alcohol-free and phthalate-free, with 50ml lasting about 6-8 weeks and 130ml about 14-18 weeks. Cold-air refill oil for the Vaayu is not currently sold separately - the machine ships with 400ml included and further refills should be confirmed with SOSA. Warranty, annual maintenance, installation and bulk terms are not published and should be confirmed before ordering. Ambient scent is an interior and hospitality decision: it makes no clinical, therapeutic or wellbeing claim, it works alongside proper ventilation, cleaning and infection control and is never a substitute for any of them, it is never used to mask another smell, and no claim is made that fragrance influences a patient's decision or any commercial outcome. Clinical areas including procedure, post-procedure and photography rooms are left unscented, and the treating clinician's judgement overrides any scenting plan in their own room. The hotel-inspired scents are SOSA's own original interpretations; SOSA is an independent brand and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any hotel named for reference.
