Two offices with identical square footage can need completely different scenting plans, and the reason is usually the wall layout rather than the size. An open-plan floor is one shared volume of air; a cellular office is a set of small, mostly sealed rooms. That single fact changes how you size the machine and, just as importantly, which rooms belong on the plan at all.
Quick answers — read this first
Should an open-plan wealth office be scented differently from a cellular one? Yes, because the two layouts pose different planning questions. An open-plan floor is one continuous volume of shared air, so it is sized as a whole - divide the total cubic metres by 1000 for a SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) count, or move to a SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) on HVAC once the floor is genuinely large. A cellular office is a list of separately closed-off rooms, so the planning question is which rooms to include at all: reception and the corridor should carry the scent, while enclosed partner cabins used for long client meetings should stay very light or unscented.

Does an open-plan trading or advisory floor need one machine or several? It depends on total air volume, not on how many desks or workstations sit on the floor. One SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) covers up to 1000m³, roughly 2,000-3,000 sq ft, so a mid-sized open floor often needs one or two, and a genuinely large open floor on one central HVAC system is usually better served by a single SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) than by several standalone units creating uneven pockets.

Why should enclosed cabins in a cellular office be scented less than reception? Because a cellular office is made up of small, separately sealed rooms with little air exchange, and wealth conversations in those rooms often run an hour or two. The fragrance keeps accumulating in a closed cabin while the people inside stop noticing it, so what was pleasant at the start can be heavy later without anyone saying so. Reception and the corridor, by contrast, see continuous foot traffic and fresh air, so they can carry the scent without that risk.
The short answer
Short answer: yes. An open-plan floor is one continuous volume of shared air, sized as a whole - total cubic metres divided by 1000 for a SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) count, or a SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) on HVAC once the floor is genuinely large. A cellular office is a list of separately closed-off rooms, and the planning question is which ones to include at all: reception and the corridor carry the scent; enclosed partner cabins used for long client meetings stay very light or unscented, because fragrance accumulates in a sealed room with little air exchange.
The pick: size an open-plan floor as one volume with a SOSA Vaayu or SOSA Angaan depending on scale, and treat a cellular office as a shortlist - reception and the corridor carry the scent, enclosed cabins stay very light or unscented.
Next step: tell us whether your floor is open-plan or cellular and we will size or list it accordingly - ask for an office scenting plan.

Straight answer
How does layout - open-plan versus cellular - change an office scenting plan?
Open-plan and cellular offices ask two genuinely different planning questions, not just two different floor plans. An open-plan floor - desks, breakout seating and a shared reception with few full-height walls - is essentially one continuous volume of conditioned air. The right way to size it is the way you would size any single volume: multiply length, width and height to get cubic metres, then divide by 1000m³, which is what one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) covers. A mid-sized open floor often lands at one or two Vaayu; a genuinely large open floor, especially one on a single central HVAC system, is usually better served by one SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) on the ducting than by several standalone units, which tend to create uneven pockets rather than an even, considered fragrance across the whole floor. A cellular office - a corridor of individually walled partner cabins and meeting rooms - is a fundamentally different problem, because it is not one volume at all. It is a list of separately sealed rooms, and the planning question is not "how much air" but "which rooms belong on this list in the first place." Reception, the lounge and the corridors a client actually walks through should carry the scent, because they see continuous foot traffic and genuine air exchange. Enclosed partner cabins, where wealth conversations often run an hour or two behind a closed door, should stay very light or unscented, because a sealed room accumulates fragrance while the people inside stop noticing it - what was pleasant on arrival can be heavy an hour later, and nobody in a client meeting will say so. In practice this means an open-plan floor is a single sizing calculation, while a cellular office is a short list with most of its rooms deliberately left off. Neither approach is more or less premium than the other; they are simply the honest answer to two different kinds of building. Ask for an office scenting plan and tell us which layout you have.

The two machines each layout uses

Two machines cover both layouts. The choice between them follows total air volume for an open-plan floor, and follows the room list for a cellular one. Both images link straight to the product page.

SOSA Vaayu
One zone of an open-plan floor, or a cellular reception
SOSA Vaayu
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³ - about 2,000-3,000 sq ft. The base unit for either layout: one per 1000m³ on an open floor, or one on the reception air path in a cellular office.
From ₹11,999
SOSA Angaan
A genuinely large open-plan floor on central HVAC
SOSA Angaan
HVAC nebulising diffuser rated to 3,000m³, about 8,000-10,000 sq ft, 800ml reservoir, metal body, programmable schedules, under 42dB. The better answer once an open floor is too large for standalone units to cover evenly.
From ₹25,999
SOSA Vaayu
The client lounge in a cellular layout
SOSA Vaayu (lounge, one step lower)
In a cellular office the lounge sits between reception and the closed cabins - carry the same fragrance, one step softer than reception, and stop there rather than extending it into the meeting rooms.
From ₹11,999
SOSA Vaayu
The machine both layouts start with
SOSA Vaayu Waterless Diffuser
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft), 400ml tank lasting up to 75 days, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, freestanding or wall/HVAC mount. CE, RoHS and SGS certified. Made in India.

One shared volume versus a list of separate zones

Two layouts, two different first questions to ask before buying anything.

1
For open-plan, ask how much air, not how many desks
One continuous volume, sized as a whole
An open-plan floor rarely has the full-height walls that would let you treat different areas as separate problems. It is, for scenting purposes, one shared volume of air, so the sizing question is the same one used for any single space: length by width by height, divided by 1000m³, which is what one Vaayu covers. Desk count and headcount do not enter into the calculation at all - a densely packed floor and a sparse one of the same cubic volume need the same machine.
Tip: measure the volume, not the workstations, and divide by 1000m³.
SOSA Vaayu
One Vaayu per 1000m³ of connected open-plan air is the whole calculation for most floors of this type.

2
For cellular, ask which rooms belong on the list
Most enclosed cabins should not be on it
A cellular office is not one volume to size - it is a set of separately sealed rooms, and the real planning question is which of them should be scented at all. Reception, the lounge and the corridors a client walks through carry the scent, because they get continuous foot traffic and real air exchange. Enclosed partner cabins used for long client meetings are the rooms to leave off the list, or scent only very lightly, because a closed room with little air exchange accumulates fragrance while the people inside stop noticing it.
SOSA Vaayu
Place the Vaayu on the reception-to-lounge air path in a cellular office, and stop there rather than extending into cabins.

3
Move to central HVAC only when a layout genuinely warrants it
A large open floor, or several cabins on one system
The Angaan earns its place in two situations that both come back to air-handling: a genuinely large open-plan floor where several standalone units would create uneven pockets, or a cellular office where multiple cabins happen to sit on one central air-handling system anyway. In either case, using the airflow that already exists beats layering several small machines on top of a layout they were not sized for.
Tip: large open floor or shared central HVAC across cabins - both point to the Angaan.
SOSA Angaan
The Angaan scents an entire connected volume - open-plan or several cellular cabins on one system - evenly from a single point.
See SOSA Angaan →
The SOSA principle
An open-plan floor asks one question: how much air. A cellular office asks a different one: which rooms actually deserve to be on the list.
Getting the layout type right before sizing anything saves more money and more mistakes than any fragrance choice does.
SOSA Angaan
For a genuinely large open-plan floor: SOSA Angaan on central HVAC scents the whole volume evenly rather than leaving pockets between standalone units, 3,000m³, ₹25,999.

Open-plan is one decision. Cellular is several.

Here is the whole layout question in one table - what each type is, and what it needs.

The long-meeting reasoning behind why cellular cabins stay light is set out fully in what a premium wealth management office should smell like. And once the layout question is settled, where the machine physically sits within either floor type is the next practical question - where the diffuser should be placed so a client does not see it first covers that directly.

Two offices of the same size can need almost opposite plans. The wall layout decides more of this than the square footage ever does.

The SOSA specification for open-plan and cellular offices

Two machines, and one planning distinction that matters more than either. An open-plan floor is sized as a single volume, using the Vaayu per 1000m³ or the Angaan on HVAC once it is genuinely large. A cellular office is a shortlist of rooms, with reception and the corridor carrying the scent and enclosed cabins largely left off it. Both waterless, both made in India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A word on choosing: work out which kind of layout you actually have before sizing anything. Open-plan is one volume; cellular is a list, and most enclosed cabins on that list should stay very light or off it entirely. One honest note - fragrance works alongside ventilation and cleaning, never instead of them, in either layout. Ask for an office scenting plan and tell us which one you have.

A note from Sonal

Two offices called me in the same month, both close to 4,000 sq ft, both asking almost the same question - how many machines do we need. One was an open-plan advisory floor with a scattering of meeting pods; the other was a corridor of eight partner cabins off a shared reception. The square footage was nearly identical. The right answer for each was completely different, and it had nothing to do with size.

The open floor was one continuous volume, so I sized it the way I size any single space - total air divided by 1000m³ - and it came out to two Vaayu units. The cellular office was not a volume to size at all. It was a list of eight closed rooms, and the honest plan put one Vaayu on the reception-to-corridor air path and left every partner cabin off the list, because an hour-long client meeting behind a closed door is exactly where fragrance accumulates unnoticed.

Neither plan cost more than the other, and neither is more considered. They are simply the correct answer for two different kinds of building, arrived at by asking the layout question before the size question. And as with everything else here: this has no bearing on what any client decides in either building. Everything is made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Should an open-plan wealth office be scented differently from a cellular one?
Yes. An open-plan floor is one continuous volume of shared air, sized as a whole - divide total cubic metres by 1000 for a SOSA Vaayu (Rs 11,999) count, or use a SOSA Angaan (Rs 25,999) on HVAC once the floor is genuinely large. A cellular office is a list of separately closed rooms; reception and the corridor carry the scent, and enclosed partner cabins stay very light or unscented.
How many machines does a large open-plan floor need?
It depends on total air volume, not desk count. One SOSA Vaayu covers up to 1000m³, roughly 2,000-3,000 sq ft, so a mid-sized open floor often needs one or two. A genuinely large open floor, especially on one central HVAC system, is usually better served by a single SOSA Angaan (Rs 25,999) than by several standalone units.
Should every partner cabin in a cellular office be scented?
Generally no. Enclosed cabins used for long client meetings are exactly the rooms this cluster recommends leaving very light or unscented, because a sealed room with little air exchange accumulates fragrance across a long meeting while everyone inside stops noticing it.
What is the first question to ask when planning scent for a new office layout?
Whether the floor is open-plan or cellular, before asking anything about size or fragrance. An open-plan floor is sized as one volume; a cellular office is treated as a shortlist of rooms, and most of that list - the enclosed cabins - should carry little or no scent at all.
Does a mixed layout - some open-plan, some cellular cabins - need both approaches?
Yes, and this is common in practice. Treat the open-plan portion as one volume and size it with a Vaayu or Angaan, and treat any enclosed cabins off that floor as their own shortlist, carrying the scent through reception and the corridor rather than into the closed rooms.
