My Clinic Has Reception on One Floor and Procedures on Another - How Should I Zone Fragrance?

By scenting the public floor and doing absolutely nothing on the clinical one - and this is the easiest brief in this whole family, so I would rather say that plainly than manufacture complexity. A floor slab is the most decisive zoning boundary a clinic can have. On a single-level plan, most of the work in a scenting plan goes into stopping fragrance from reaching rooms it should not: door thresholds, corridor placement, checking whether a return duct connects reception to a graft room. When your procedures are on a different level, all of that becomes unnecessary. The floors are separate volumes with separate air, usually on separate AC zones, and there is no corridor joining them. So: one machine, on the public floor, on the air path, about a metre up, out of the pull of a return. That covers reception, waiting and any consultation lounge on that level. The floor with the procedure and graft rooms, the recovery area and the photography room gets nothing at all - not a lower setting, not a smaller machine, nothing. Post-operative scalp is an open wound, patients in recovery sit still for a long time, and a photography room is producing a clinical record; those are three separate reasons and none of them is negotiable against a nicer arrival experience. The one thing genuinely worth attention is the junction. A stairwell behaves like a chimney and a lift shaft behaves like a piston, and both will move air vertically whether or not you asked them to. If your machine sits near the stair opening or the lift lobby on the public floor, a noticeable amount can travel to the other landing. The test costs nothing: stand on the clinical floor's landing at midday, when the building is at working load, and see what you can smell. If there is a real presence rather than a trace, move the source further into the public floor - away from the stair, deeper into the reception volume - rather than reaching for the intensity control. Then re-check a week later. The hardware is one SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 if your public floor is past roughly 1,500 sq ft, or one SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 if that floor alone is under about 750 sq ft, in which case a Vaayu really would be the wrong buy and I would tell you so before taking an order. One more caution specific to multi-storey buildings: if a single air handling unit serves both floors, do not mount anything into it, because that would deliver fragrance directly into the clinical level. Whether your floors share a system, and what the pressure relationship between them is, are questions for your HVAC contractor or facilities engineer, not for me. This is an ambience decision with no clinical, therapeutic or air-quality claim, it sits alongside cleaning and ventilation and is never a way to mask another smell, and the treating clinician's judgement overrides any plan on their floor. Ask for a clinic scenting plan and send both plans.
