Founder Diaries · Car Perfumes, Parking & How a Car Is Actually Used
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles10 min readUpdated September 2026
An uncovered parking space that catches the morning sun is one of the few details in this whole subject that genuinely earns a change of habit - and it has nothing to do with the charger sitting next to it. A car left in open sun has a cabin that is warmer and stiller than the same car in a basement, and the first thirty seconds after you open the door are not the same thirty seconds in either case. What follows is not a product claim. SOSA publishes no figure for how a warm cabin behaves and this page will not invent one. What it will do is give you a sequence, because the order in which you open, sit and apply is the part you actually control.
What an uncovered bay actually changes is the order you do things in, not the product you buy. The 10ml spray is ₹449 to ₹549 and published at 100 sprays, pressed once after the cabin air has moved. The 12ml hanging is the same price and runs 4 to 6 weeks, set once with the stopper. No heat or seasonal performance figure is published for either, and this page does not invent one.
Quick answers — read this first
Should you check cabin temperature and ventilation before applying car fragrance? Opening the car and letting the air move for a moment before you decide is simply sensible with any cabin that has been shut in open sun, and it costs nothing. SOSA publishes no performance figure for a warm cabin and this page will not supply one. What is published is the formulation statement: the range is formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, which describes how the formula is built rather than how it behaves on a given morning.
Is the charging point the reason the cabin is warm? No. The bay is the reason. An uncovered space in morning sun warms a cabin whatever the car runs on, and a covered one does not - so the variable is the roof over the car, not the plug beside it. SOSA publishes nothing about charging and makes no powertrain claim of any kind.
Does a warm cabin mean you should use more or less? Neither figure is published, so the honest answer is to use the controls that are. A 10ml spray holds 100 sprays and one covers the cabin, so pressing once after the air has moved is a complete decision. A 12ml hanging is the same price, runs 4 to 6 weeks, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler.
The short answer
Short answer: Yes, and the reason is the parking rather than the plug. An uncovered bay in morning sun leaves a cabin warm and still, so opening the doors and letting the air move before you decide costs nothing and tells you something. SOSA publishes no figure for how a warm cabin performs, only that the range is formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity. A 10ml spray is Rs 449 to Rs 549 and holds 100 sprays.
The pick: A 10ml SOSA car perfume spray, ₹449 to ₹549 - 100 sprays, pressed after the cabin air has moved rather than into a closed car you have just opened.
Why: A spray is the only format whose timing you choose, and timing is the whole of what an open sunlit bay changes. The hanging at the same price simply runs through the morning either way.
A car spends most of its life empty. The hours that matter are the ones somebody is sitting in it, and on a typical commute that is one or two out of twenty-four. The useful decision is therefore not which product lasts longest while nobody is there - it is whether you want fragrance you switch on or fragrance that simply runs. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, which is three months at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks and its stopper loosens for more or tightens for less. Nothing here depends on what is under the bonnet.
My EV is charged at home in an uncovered parking space and receives morning sunlight before I leave. Should I assess cabin temperature and ventilation before applying fragrance?
Yes - and the useful part of that sentence is the parking space, not the charger. A cabin that has been shut in open sun since sunrise is warmer and stiller than the same cabin in a covered bay, and that is true of any hatchback on that space whatever it runs on. So the sequence is worth getting right, and it is free. Open the doors, let the air move for a moment, sit down, and then decide. You will find you often want less than you thought you did, because you are judging the cabin as it will be for the journey rather than as it was at the instant you opened it. What this page will not do is tell you how a fragrance performs in a warm cabin, because SOSA publishes no such figure. There is no evaporation claim, no scent-throw claim, no seasonal claim anywhere in the range. What is published is a formulation statement - the car perfumes are formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, and are alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant - which describes how they are built, not how they read on a hot Tuesday. The controls you do have are published and there are two.A 10ml spray holds 100 sprays, it is a fine-mist atomizer and one spray covers the cabin, so how many times you press it is the whole of it - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two. A 12ml hanging costs the same for the same scent, runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. And one honest correction to the question as asked: the car being electric has no bearing on any of this, because SOSA publishes no powertrain product and no powertrain difference. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Open it, let the air move, sit down, then decide. The sun is a fact about the bay, not the battery.
The quick version for a sunlit driveway: open the doors, let the air move, then press once. A 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 holds 100 sprays and one covers the cabin, which is three months and above at one a day. A 12ml hanging at the same price runs 4 to 6 weeks and is set once with the stopper. Nothing published says a warm cabin needs either.
Almost everything written about warm cars is invented, so here is the short version of what is actually knowable. Three things are in front of you on that driveway, and only one of them has a number attached to it.
01
The bay, not the plug
A roof over the car changes the morning; a charger beside it does not
This is the whole of the distinction and it is easy to lose. An uncovered space in morning sun leaves a cabin warm and still; a basement or a covered bay does not, and that difference holds identically for a petrol hatchback parked on the same driveway. The charger is simply a thing standing next to the car. SOSA publishes nothing about charging and no powertrain claim of any sort, so if you want to know why your mornings feel different from a colleague's, look at what is above the car rather than what is plugged into it. The other half of the same fact: your cabin has been shut for eight to ten hours either way, and closure is what makes the first thirty seconds what they are.
Tip: Look up, not down. The roof over the bay is the variable.
02
The sequence
Open, let the air move, sit, then decide - in that order
The mistake worth avoiding is deciding at the wrong moment. If you judge the cabin in the second you open the door, you are judging a state that is about to change, and you will reach for more fragrance than the journey needs. Let the doors stand open while you put your bag in, get in, and then make the call. This costs nothing and it is the single most useful habit on this page. It also makes the press count easier to hold to: one press of a 10ml, which is published at 100 sprays and one spray covers the cabin, is usually a complete answer once the air has moved. Two presses into a cabin you opened four seconds ago is how a bottle disappears in under a month.
03
The figure that does not exist
No heat performance claim is published, in either direction
It would be easy to write a confident paragraph here about what warmth does to a fragrance, and it would be fiction. SOSA publishes no evaporation rate, no scent-throw figure, no projection claim and no seasonal performance claim anywhere in the car range. The nearest thing to a temperature statement is a formulation one: the products are formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity. That is a statement about the conditions the formula is built to withstand. It is not a claim that anything performs better or worse in summer, in monsoon or on a sunlit driveway, and it should not be read as one. Where a figure does not exist, this page says so rather than filling the gap.
Tip: A stability statement is not a performance claim, and the difference matters.
The one number that settles most of this
A 10ml spray is 100 sprays. The rest is division.
SOSA publishes the count on the bottle: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, and the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The pages state the working too - three months and above at one spray a day, and fifty days at two a day. That turns a vague question into an arithmetic one. Spray before every journey and somebody making four short trips a day is out of a 10ml in about twenty-five days; the same bottle in the hands of somebody who sprays once each morning lasts the published three months. Neither is wrong - but only one of them is what the person expected when they bought it. Work out your own number before you decide the product is not lasting, because a hundred sprays is a hundred sprays regardless of how the car is powered.
Open both front doors while you load. Let the cabin air move before you judge it.
Sit down first. Decide from the seat, not from outside with the door open.
One press of a 10ml. It holds 100 sprays and one covers the cabin.
If you want it set once and forgotten, buy the hanging and use the stopper.
The SOSA principle
Judge the cabin you are about to travel in, not the one you opened four seconds ago. That single habit settles most of the overspraying that follows a sunlit bay.
And it is free, which is more than can be said for the second press it saves you.
Which scent for a cabin that starts the day warm, and in what format
With the sequence sorted, scent becomes a free choice rather than a compensation, because the spray and the hanging cost the same for the same scent. The bright end suits a cabin you have just aired: Icy Mint at ₹489, Lemon at ₹499 and Sea Breeze at ₹509. The quiet end is Jasmine at ₹449 and Lavender at ₹479, the softest the range publishes. The deep end is Sandalwood at ₹479, Vetiver at ₹509 and Oud at ₹509, with Oud the deepest published. Mysore Orange Blossom at ₹549 exists as a spray and nothing else - worth knowing before you decide the stopper is your control.
The SOSA gift edit
Four ways to start a morning on a sunlit bay, and the cost of each
The option
Who it suits, and where it fails
Air the cabin, then one press
The cheapest good answer on this page. 100 sprays in a 10ml, so 3 months and above at one a day. It costs you thirty seconds of standing beside the car with the doors open, which some mornings you will not have.
Press first, then drive off
Fast, and the habit most people fall into. It costs you the second press, because you decided in the worst possible second - and two a day is 50 days out of the same bottle rather than three months and above.
A 12ml hanging, left alone
Runs 4 to 6 weeks at the same price as the spray, through the shut hours and the sunlit ones alike, and the stopper sets it once. It costs you the ability to respond to a particular morning at all.
Cover the car or move the bay
Not a fragrance purchase, and sometimes the right answer. A covered space changes the morning far more than any choice of scent will. It costs whatever a covered space costs where you live, which is usually the reason it is not on the table.
The format choice, and why price does not decide it
Spray or hanging - the same price, scent for scent
This is the unusual part of the SOSA car range and it makes the decision cleaner than it usually is: the spray and the hanging cost the same for any given scent - ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze. So you are not trading money against convenience; you are choosing between fragrance you decide to have and fragrance that is simply there. The spray is 100 sprays in 10ml and you control every one of them. The hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass and asks nothing of you, and its stopper is the strength control - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler. One further practical difference that decides it for some people: 15ml refills exist for the hanging and there is no spray refill at all.
A few published details that matter more on an open bay than they do in a basement. The whole car range is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant and is formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity - a build statement rather than a seasonal promise. 15ml refills exist for the hanging at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents in refillable glass; there is no refill for the sprays and none at all for Orange Blossom. And if the bottle is going to somebody else, custom label or logo on product is the only branding SOSA offers - no custom box, no printed sleeve and no insert card.
₹449 to ₹549, published at 100 sprays. Fragrance you decide to have, journey by journey - which is the format that suits a car occupied an hour or two a day.
The same price as the spray, published at 4 to 6 weeks in a refillable glass bottle. The stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler - which is the only strength control SOSA publishes.
Three sprays from ₹699, or all nine at ₹2,999. Nine published combinations and those nine are the whole range - you pick from them, you do not assemble one.
from ₹699
The premise worth rejecting before anything else
A fragrance does not know what is turning the wheels.
There is no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product in the SOSA range, and SOSA publishes nothing whatsoever about powertrain - because a perfume in a closed cabin behaves the same way whether that cabin is being pushed along by a battery or an engine. What genuinely differs between two owners is everything else: where the car is parked and for how long, how many separate journeys it makes in a day, how many of those hours anybody is actually inside it, whether the windows are open, and who else is in the car. Those are real variables and they change the answer completely. The published figures speak to them directly: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, which is three months and more at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously with a stopper that loosens for more and tightens for less; the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. So when two people with identical cars need different answers, it is never because one of them is electric.
Tell SOSA how many hours a day somebody is actually sitting in the car, where it is parked and for how long, whether the windows are usually open or shut, and who else drives it - and you will be told which format and how much, including the times the honest answer is the hanging at the same price because you would rather not think about it.
The sun on that bay is a fact about where the car sleeps. It is not a fact about the battery, and it is not a fact about the fragrance either.

The SOSA gifting range
Two questions settle almost every car fragrance decision, and neither of them is what the car runs on. How many hours a day is somebody actually sitting in it? A 25 km commute is about an hour; a field job can be four. That number decides how much of what you buy is experienced by anybody at all, because the rest of the day is a sealed cabin in a parking bay. Then: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray holds 100 sprays and does nothing until you press it; the 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks whether anybody is there or not, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. They cost the same for the same scent, so price does not decide it - which is unusual, and useful.
The SOSA range, sorted by how much it asks of the person receiving it
Start from what the gift demands, not from what it costs
₹449 to ₹549 across nine scents. Published at 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day. A fine-mist atomizer; one spray covers the cabin
The same price as the spray, scent for scent. Published at 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle, and the stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler
₹1,499, published at 500 sprays and about a year and more. The honest size when you already know the routine, and the wrong one while you are still working it out
₹899 for Jasmine & Lemon or Jasmine & Lavender; ₹949 for Oud + Lemon or Sandalwood & Oud. Spray combo (2 x 10ml) or hanging combo (2 x 12ml) at the same price. Four published pairs
₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. There is no spray refill, and Orange Blossom has no refill at all - so if refilling matters, that decides the format for you
₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. A different category from a spray or a hanging, and listed here so you can rule it in or out rather than wonder
from ₹3,999
The fact that answers most of these questions is a division sum. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays. Somebody who sprays before each of four short daily trips empties it in about twenty-five days; somebody who sprays once a day gets the published three months and more. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks instead, continuously, and its stopper adjusts the strength - loosen for more, tighten for less. Spray and hanging are the same price scent for scent, so the choice is genuinely about how you want to use the car rather than what you want to spend. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, made in India. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour and it does not clean the air - so a car that has developed a smell is a question about the car, not about the perfume. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available, with quantities settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The honest spec sheet
What the SOSA car pages publish, and what they do not
Everything below is on the live product pages. Anything not on this list is not something a page like this should state.
The published quantities - a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, stated as 3 months and above at one a day and 50 days at two a day. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more, at ₹1,499. A spray combo is 200 sprays, stated as 100 days at two a day rotating. These are the only usage figures SOSA gives.
The hanging - 4 to 6 weeks (28 to 42 days) of continuous diffusion per 12ml bottle, in refillable glass, and the stopper adjusts the strength: loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler.
Combos and the Discovery Set - four published pairs at ₹899 and ₹949, as a spray combo (2 x 10ml) or a hanging combo (2 x 12ml) at the same price. The Discovery Set is ₹699 to ₹899 for three sprays and ₹2,999 for all nine. Those nine combinations are the entire set range and none is composed to order.
Refills - 15ml hanging refills at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. There is no spray refill and Orange Blossom has no refill.
The formulation - alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, made in India.

A note from Sonal
We get asked which car perfume is right for an electric car, and I have never been able to give the answer the question wants. There isn't one. A fragrance sits in a closed box of air with a person in it, and that box does not behave differently because the thing moving it is a battery. If anyone tells you otherwise they are selling you a category, not a product.
What I can tell you is what actually changes between two owners, because it is not subtle. One car is occupied ninety minutes a day and another is occupied six. One sits in a basement and one bakes outdoors for nine hours. One has the windows down for the first ten minutes of every drive and one never opens them at all. One is driven by three people who want three different things from it. Those differences are enormous, and none of them is on the spec sheet of the car.
So the numbers I would want you to hold on to are the ones about use rather than about chemistry. A 10ml spray is a hundred sprays. That is three months if you spray once a day and about fifty days if you spray twice, and if you spray before every one of four short errands it is gone in under a month. The hanging runs four to six weeks and you can loosen or tighten the stopper to change it. Those two facts settle more of these questions than anything I could tell you about the car.
And the part I will not pretend about: a perfume cannot fix a smell. It adds a scent, it does not remove one. If a car has started smelling of something it did not smell of before, that is a question about the car - the air-conditioning, the mats, something in the boot, water that got in during the monsoon - and adding fragrance on top of it is the one thing I would ask you not to do.
Frequently asked questions
Does a hot cabin make car fragrance stronger or weaker?
SOSA publishes no figure either way, so this page will not claim one. There is no evaporation rate, no scent-throw figure and no seasonal performance claim anywhere in the car range. What is published is that the products are formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, which describes how the formula is built rather than how it performs on a given morning.
Should I ventilate the car before spraying?
Opening the doors for a moment and letting the air move before you decide is sensible with any cabin that has been shut in open sun, and it costs nothing. The practical benefit is that you judge the car you are about to travel in rather than the one you opened four seconds ago, which usually means one press instead of two.
Does an EV parked in the sun need different fragrance from a petrol car on the same bay?
No. SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and no powertrain claim, and the sun does not care what is under the bonnet. Two cars on the same uncovered space start the morning the same way. The variable is whether there is a roof over the space, not what is plugged into the car.
How many sprays are in a bottle, and how long should one last?
A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, set out as 3 months and above at one spray a day or 50 days at two a day. A 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. A 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion per bottle and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler.
Is the hanging a better choice for a car parked outdoors?
It is not better or worse, and it costs the same as the spray for the same scent. It runs through the shut hours whether anybody is there or not, which is the point of it, and its stopper is set once rather than per journey. If what you want is to respond to a particular morning, the spray is the format that lets you.

What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any difference in fragrance behaviour between petrol, diesel and electric vehicles - SOSA makes no powertrain-specific product and no powertrain claim; any cabin-volume, coverage, scent-throw, projection or evaporation figure; any claim about how a scent is perceived over hours or about sensory adaptation; any seasonal performance claim beyond the stated formulation for heat and humidity; any shelf life, expiry or concentration; and any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a cabin. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, it does not clean the air, and a car that has developed a new smell is a question about the vehicle rather than about perfume. No health claim is made anywhere on this page, in either direction - nothing here states or implies that any fragrance causes or prevents a headache, nausea, motion sickness or any other effect, and nothing is said about safety in pregnancy or for children or the elderly, because SOSA publishes no information this page can rely on. No third-party brand is named and no competitor or category of competing product is characterised. No rating, review count, strength percentage or customer name from any product page is cited. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; that is the only branding option, and quantities are settled on WhatsApp. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
