The question sounds like it should have a product answer, and it half does. But there are two different things inside the phrase freshly sprayed, and only one of them can be extended. Separating them takes two minutes and saves you from buying the wrong thing twice.
Quick answers — read this first
Is there a way to make the freshly sprayed effect last longer? You can extend the fragrance presence for hours, but not the peak. The peak is your nose reacting to a sudden change and it fades within minutes no matter what you use. Presence is different: it depends on something continuing to put fragrance into the air. The SOSA Safar (₹3,999) cold-diffuses pure undiluted oil for up to 10 hours continuous or 30 hours intermittent per Type-C charge, with 3 speeds and a 1, 2 or 3 hour timer, so the level is held rather than pressed back into existence.

Why does room spray not last more than about half an hour? Because it is a single release with nothing behind it. The droplets settle onto fabric and surfaces within minutes, the lightest top notes evaporate first, and no wick or reservoir keeps feeding the air. That is the format working correctly rather than failing. If you want hours, you need something that keeps releasing: the SOSA Safar (₹3,999) for a room you occupy, or the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) for an open floor of about 2,000-3,000 sq ft.

Does spraying more make the fragrance last longer? Not usefully. A bigger dose raises the peak, which your nose stops reporting within minutes anyway, and the extra material mostly lands on soft furnishings rather than staying airborne. Spending it slowly is what extends the effect. Three speeds on the SOSA Safar (₹3,999) let you set the release rate, and a 20ml bottle of pure oil spent at a low rate covers far more hours than the same volume sprayed.
The short answer
Short answer: yes, with one correction that matters - you can extend the presence, not the peak. The peak is a perception event that fades in minutes whatever you buy. Presence is physical and depends on something continuing to release fragrance, so the levers are undiluted material, active release and a schedule.
The pick: the SOSA Safar (₹3,999) for a room you occupy - up to 10 hours continuous or 30 hours intermittent per charge - or the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) for a floor of about 2,000-3,000 sq ft, where a 400ml tank runs up to 75 days.
Next step: tell us the room and the hours you want covered and we will match a machine and a setting to it - ask us by email.
What can be extended, and what cannotThe peak - a sudden jump your nose reports loudly. Not extendableThe presence - fragrance genuinely in the air. Extendable for hoursLever one - undiluted oil instead of a water-based mistLever two - active release instead of passive evaporationLever three - a timer, so the level restarts before you notice a gap
The peak is a perception event and it is over in minutes whatever you buy. The presence is a physical fact and it can be held all evening. Every honest improvement lives in the second line.
The shortlist - tap either machine
Straight answer
Is there a way to maintain that freshly sprayed fragrance effect for longer?
Yes for one half of it, honestly no for the other, and the distinction is the whole answer. The peak - that startling first moment - is a perception event. Your nose reports change, not concentration, so a jump from nothing to a lot is what makes the room feel transformed. Within a few minutes olfactory adaptation quietly turns the volume down on any steady smell, which is why even a room that is objectively still fragrant stops feeling freshly sprayed. No product extends that, and anything claiming to is selling you a feeling it cannot deliver. The presence is different and entirely fixable. Presence means fragrance is genuinely in the air, at a level a person walking in notices immediately. It falls after a spray because the droplets settle onto fabric within minutes, the lightest top notes evaporate first, and nothing feeds the air afterwards. Three levers extend it. Undiluted material: a water-based ultrasonic diffuser puts out mostly water, so the fragrance load per breath is low and it reads weak to anyone who loves spray - cold diffusion of neat oil does not have that problem. Active release: a reed waits for evaporation at a fixed low rate, while an active machine atomises and pushes at a rate you set. A schedule: the reason the effect vanishes is that nothing restarts it, so hand that job to a timer. The SOSA Safar (₹3,999) does all three - waterless, cordless cold diffusion of pure undiluted fragrance oil from a 20ml bottle, 3 speed settings, a 1, 2 or 3 hour auto-off timer, and up to 10 hours continuous or 30 hours intermittent per Type-C charge. For a room you occupy, that is an evening covered on one setting. For an open floor of about 2,000-3,000 sq ft the honest machine is the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999), rated to 1000m³, with a 400ml tank lasting up to 75 days and app timers of 1h, 4h, 8h and 24h at under 38dB. One caveat that applies to both: fragrance works alongside airing and cleaning, never instead of them. Scent held for eight hours over a source smell just means eight hours of both.
You can extend the presence, not the peak. Undiluted oil, active release and a timer buy you hours of genuine fragrance; nothing buys you a permanent first moment.
If the number you care about is hours rather than minutes, the SOSA Safar is the honest one to look at: up to 10 hours continuous or 30 hours intermittent per Type-C charge, 3 speeds, a 1, 2 or 3 hour auto-off timer, running pure undiluted fragrance oil from a 20ml bottle. No water, so nothing dilutes what you are releasing.

What holds the level for hours instead of minutes

SOSA does not make a room spray, so this is not a pitch for a longer-lasting bottle. These are the two machines whose run-times are measured in hours and days rather than minutes, and the choice between them is simply the size of the space. Both pictures link straight to the product page.

The three levers that actually extend the effect

Three levers extend the effect, and they work in this order. Get the first one wrong and the other two cannot rescue it.

1
Stop diluting it
Neat oil beats a water-based mist for anyone who likes spray
This is the lever people skip, and it is the one that decides whether the whole exercise feels like an upgrade or a downgrade. An ultrasonic diffuser vibrates a mostly-water mixture into a visible cool mist. It is pleasant, it adds humidity, and the fragrance load per breath is modest - which is precisely why someone who loves the density of a room spray finds it thin. Cold diffusion of pure oil releases fragrance and nothing else. Same room, same fragrance, very different perceived strength, and no dampness or white residue on a bedside table.
Tip: if a diffuser has a water tank, expect it to read softer than your spray. That is dilution, not a defect.
SOSA Safar
The Safar holds 20ml of pure undiluted oil - there is no water in it at all.

2
Release it actively
A rate you choose, rather than a rate the weather chooses
Passive formats depend on evaporation, so the release rate drifts with temperature and airflow and cannot be turned up when you want more. Active diffusion atomises the oil and pushes it out, which means the rate is a dial. Practically, that is the difference between a room that is faintly nice and a room that is obviously scented: you decide which one you are getting. It also means the fragrance arrives within minutes of switching on rather than over the course of a day.
SOSA Safar
Three speeds on the Safar. Low for a room you are sitting in, high when you want it noticed at the door.
See SOSA Safar →
3
Put it on a schedule
The gap is what you notice, so close it before it opens
The freshly-sprayed feeling collapses at the moment the release stops and nothing replaces it. A timer removes that moment. Set a machine to run the hours you are in the room and stop when you are not, or run intermittently so the level cycles gently instead of sitting perfectly flat. Cycling has a second benefit: because your nose reports change, a level that rises and falls a little stays perceptible for longer than one held rigidly constant. That is as close as any honest product gets to repeated bursts.
Tip: cover the hours you are actually in the room, and let the machine cycle rather than sit flat.
SOSA Vaayu
The Vaayu app handles 1h, 4h, 8h and 24h schedules with adjustable intensity across a whole floor.

The SOSA principle
Extending the effect is not about a stronger dose. It is about spending the same fragrance slowly enough that the room never has to go quiet.
A peak you cannot perceive is material you paid for and could not smell.
SOSA Safar
Hours instead of minutes: SOSA Safar runs up to 10 hours continuous or 30 hours intermittent per Type-C charge, with 3 speeds and a 1/2/3-hour auto-off timer, on pure undiluted fragrance oil. ₹3,999.

How long each format can honestly hold a level

It helps to see the formats side by side on the only axis that matters here, which is how long each one can honestly keep fragrance in the air at a level you would call present.

Fragrance choice is the free lever most people ignore. Anything built almost entirely on citrus and light aromatics is designed to be brilliant early and gone quickly, which flatters a spray and works against a machine; a composition with woods, resins or a warm musk underneath will still be reading at hour four at the same setting. If you want the mechanism behind the fade, the pillar on why room spray smells amazing for ten minutes then disappears explains it properly, and if what you really love is that opening rush, the first fifteen minutes after spraying takes that apart specifically. Our hotel-inspired scents are SOSA's own interpretations - we are independent and not affiliated with any hotel.

For a whole floor: SOSA Vaayu is rated to 1000m³, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with a 400ml tank lasting up to 75 days, app timers of 1h/4h/8h/24h and adjustable intensity, under 38dB. ₹11,999.

The SOSA answer when you want it to last

Two machines, chosen by the size of the space, and one limit that applies to both. Fragrance is not an air purifier, it makes no health claim, and it cannot fix a source smell - air and clean first, then scent. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

If you take one thing from this page, take the split between peak and presence. Presence is what you buy a machine for, and it is worth every rupee if half an hour of fragrance is your current ceiling. The peak is not for sale from anybody, including us, and a brand that promises it will simply disappoint you eight hours in. Tell us the room and the hours and we will suggest a machine and a setting - ask us by email.

A note from Sonal

Every week someone asks me for a longer-lasting version of the first two minutes after a spray, and I understand exactly what they mean. Those two minutes are wonderful. But if I sold you a product on the promise of holding them all evening, you would be unhappy by nine o'clock and you would be right to be. So I would rather split the question honestly than win the sale badly.

The part that can be extended is the part that matters more anyway. A room with real fragrance in the air at nine o'clock, at eleven, and when you open the door the next morning, is a better-smelling home than one that peaks four times a night and goes quiet in between. A Safar running pure oil at a modest speed does that for a bedroom for up to ten hours on a charge. A Vaayu does it for a whole floor for weeks at a time on one 400ml fill.

The honesty that goes with it: fragrance is not an air purifier and I make no health claim for it, and it will never fix a source. Damp, bins, a tired mattress and last night's cooking need airing and cleaning, and scenting over them gives you both at once. The Safar unit is imported from China and SOSA is the marketer, while our fragrances and reeds are made in India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Can you make the freshly sprayed effect last longer?
You can extend the fragrance presence for hours, but not the peak. The peak is your nose reacting to a sudden change and it fades within minutes regardless of the product. Presence depends on something continuing to release fragrance into the air, which is exactly what an active diffuser does. The SOSA Safar at Rs 3,999 runs up to 10 hours continuous or 30 hours intermittent per Type-C charge.
Does spraying more room freshener make it last longer?
Not in a useful way. A larger dose raises a peak your nose stops reporting within minutes, and most of the extra material lands on curtains, bedding and upholstery rather than staying in the air. Releasing the same amount of fragrance slowly across an evening keeps the room inside the range you can perceive for far longer.
How many hours can a diffuser run?
The SOSA Safar runs up to 10 hours continuous or 30 hours intermittent per Type-C charge and has a 1, 2 or 3 hour auto-off timer, which suits a bedside or a desk. The SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 holds a 400ml tank that lasts up to about 75 days depending on intensity and run hours, with app timers of 1, 4, 8 and 24 hours.
Why does a diffuser feel weaker than my room spray even when it is running?
Usually one of two reasons. Either it is a water-based ultrasonic diffuser, in which case the fragrance is diluted in water and the load per breath is genuinely lower; or your nose has adapted to the steady level, which happens within minutes. Step outside for five minutes and walk back in before you judge it.
Should I use a spray and a diffuser together?
That is a perfectly sensible setup. Let the machine hold a steady level through the day and evening, and keep the spray for the moment before guests arrive when a sudden change is the whole point. SOSA does not sell a room spray, so there is nothing in it for us either way.
