Hyderabad summers are long and bright, and fragrance advice written for cooler cities does not always travel. Comfortable is your word, so this page turns it into three tests you can read off a pyramid, then checks what SOSA actually has for each one.
Quick answers — read this first
Which fragrance notes suit a Hyderabad summer? A short citrus lift such as bergamot or neroli, dry green spice such as cardamom, dry woods such as vetiver and cedarwood, and a quiet musk floor. Oud, amber, tobacco and sweet vanilla read heavier, whatever the first minute is like.
Does SOSA make a citrus, green or musk attar? Not as single notes. SOSA makes no single-note citrus, green, vetiver or musk scent. All three sit together in SOSA Adaa at ₹379: bergamot, green cardamom and neroli, then white musk, vetiver and cedarwood.
How much should I wear in a long summer? One dab, once, on the chest or the side of the neck. One dab is a whisper and two is a sentence. Summer is the season to use less, not more, and to judge at hour three.
The short answer
Short answer: Citrus lift, green spice and dry wood over a quiet musk, at one dab. Leave oud, amber and sweet vanilla for the cooler months.
The pick: One 3ml of SOSA Adaa at ₹379. SOSA Khayaal at ₹599 for 10ml is the clearer, airier alternative.
Next step: Wear it across a weekday, a weekend afternoon and a late evening, and judge each at hour three. Tell us how the week went.
The three families in the question, and where each sits in Adaa. The fourth line is the honest one: SOSA makes no single-note version of any of them, so the three arrive together or not at all.
Adaa for the fresh brief; the warmer pair is for another season
I Want a Fresh Personal Fragrance for Hyderabad Summers — Which Citrus, Green or Clean Musk Compositions Feel Comfortable?
Choose the composition that gets out of its own way: a citrus lift that leaves quickly, spice and dry wood in the middle, a dry musk floor, and one dab. Here is the sorting in five steps, and where SOSA runs out.
1. Turn comfortable into three tests. Does the top leave instead of lingering? Does the middle stay dry instead of turning sweet? Does the base stay close? Each one can be read off a published pyramid before you buy, which is the only reliable way to shop for a season you have to live through.
2. Do not buy the citrus. Bergamot and neroli are the lift, and the shortest stage. A fragrance with a citrus top and a heavy base is the cologne-counter smell. Read the bottom of the pyramid first, and treat the top as an introduction.
3. Know what green and clean musk mean here. Green is cardamom, vetiver and cedarwood: spice and dry wood. Clean musk is white musk as a base note. SOSA makes no single-note green, vetiver or musk scent, and says so rather than writing around it.
4. Take Adaa.SOSA Adaa at ₹379 opens with Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli, softens into jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, and dries to white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. It carries no oudh, and SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin.
5. Wear less than you think. One dab, on the chest or the side of the neck, applied once you have arrived and settled. A second application is a decision for after the first week, not a reflex at noon. SOSA Khayaal is the clearer second answer.
What anyone else makes of it is not something I can promise, and I will not pretend to. What I can tell you is what each family is built from, and that three ordinary Hyderabad days on a 3ml will settle the question on your own skin.
A short citrus lift, spice and dry wood, a dry musk floor, and one dab. SOSA Adaa at ₹379 has all three in one roll-on, and SOSA makes no single-note citrus, green or musk scent.
What to buy for a Hyderabad summer
The product
SOSA Adaa, the lightest of the four attars and the only one with no oudh: an alcohol-free roll-on oil on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier, hand-blended in Pune.
The size to start on
The 3ml, at ₹379. It is enough for three ordinary days. The 6ml at ₹669 and the 12ml at ₹1,149 are for after you have worn it through a full summer.
Dabs, and where
One dab, on the chest or the side of the neck, once you have arrived. One dab stays a hint and two turns it into a statement. The timing page explains why arrival beats leaving.
At hour three
The citrus has gone. What remains, by the published pyramid, is white musk with vetiver and cedarwood, dry and close, with a little white flower still in it.
What it costs to stay on it
Nothing beyond the first 3ml until you are sure. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin, and one application a day is the whole plan.
Hyderabad readers usually ask me for something light that does not turn sweet by the afternoon. Adaa is the only attar I make whose floor is dry musk, vetiver and cedarwood. Start on the 3ml, wear it lightly, and if clearer suits you better, Khayaal is the honest second.
Buy one 3ml of SOSA Adaa at ₹379 and nothing else for now: Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli on top, jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang in the heart, white musk, vetiver and cedarwood underneath. An alcohol-free roll-on oil, hand-blended in Pune, with no oudh at all. Wear it for a weekday, a weekend afternoon and a late evening, one dab each time.
The three families you asked about are real, and SOSA has them, but not as separate bottles. The four attars are all alcohol-free, DPG-free roll-on oils on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier, in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml. Only one is built from the light families. The others are warmer on purpose, and the cards say by how much.
₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12ml. Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. The lightest of the four and without oudh. Every family you named is on the published list, which is why it is the summer pick.
₹389 for 3ml, ₹685 for 6ml, ₹1,179 for 12ml. Litchi, bergamot and pink pepper over night-blooming jasmine and Damask rose, on Mysore sandalwood, oudh, Madagascar vanilla and tonka. A deep floral-gourmand, lovely in its place, and a long way from a light summer fragrance.
₹385 for 3ml, ₹679 for 6ml, ₹1,165 for 12ml. Persian saffron, pink pepper and bergamot over Taif rose and Indian sandalwood, on soft oudh, amber and white musk. A richer attar with some oudh and amber. Not a summer first choice, and a good second bottle once light is settled and you want something warmer for later.
None of these is a promise about your nose. Each is a structural reason, readable on a pyramid before you buy, that a fragrance behaves itself through a long hot season rather than building up on you.
1
One
The citrus is the lift, and it is the shortest stage
Bergamot is the usual lead, and neroli, which is orange blossom, adds a slightly green brightness. Both are light and both leave quickly, which is the point: they give the lift of stepping out, then step aside. Adaa opens with Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli, and the cardamom keeps the top from turning sweet. The mistake in a long summer is to buy on the citrus, because the citrus is the one stage you will not be wearing by the afternoon.
Tip: Do not choose on the first five minutes. Ask what is underneath the citrus and whether that is something you want near you at hour three.
Ameeri at ₹385 also opens with bergamot, but it adds Persian saffron and pink pepper, and the saffron leads to a richer middle.
Green here means dry spice and woods, not cut grass
In this range green is cardamom, vetiver and cedarwood. Green cardamom is cool and spiced, vetiver is dry and earthy, cedarwood is dry and pencil-like, and magnolia in the heart is lemony and airy. Together they keep a fragrance from turning creamy or sweet as the day warms. SOSA makes no single-note green scent and no vetiver soliflore, so green arrives inside Adaa, not as a bottle of its own, and I would rather say so than write around it.
Tip: If a pyramid lists vanilla, tonka or a gourmand note in the base, expect it to sweeten as the day goes on.
Mastani at ₹389 has Madagascar vanilla and tonka in its base, which is exactly the sweetening a long summer does not ask for.
White musk is in three of the four attars, always as a base note and never as the subject. SOSA makes no musk soliflore. What Adaa does is put white musk under vetiver and cedarwood, and those two dry woods keep it skin-like instead of creamy or powdery. Powderiness comes from iris, heliotrope, violet or aldehydes, none of which is anywhere in Adaa's published pyramid. That dry floor is what is left on your skin at hour three, and in a long summer it is the part you actually live with.
Tip: Judge the floor at hour three, not the opening. That is the stage you wear for most of the day.
Nawaab at ₹399 also has white musk, but under amber and leather and with oud-led top notes, so it reads as a deep fragrance, not a clean one.
In a long summer, comfortable is not a note. It is the speed at which a fragrance gets out of its own way: a lift that leaves, a spice that stays dry and a floor that stays close.
That is why the pyramid can answer the question before you smell anything. Read it from the bottom up. If the base is musk and dry wood, it will behave itself; if it is amber, vanilla or oud, it will not, however cool the top.
The one built for a long hot season: Adaa at ₹379: Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over three white flowers, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. The lightest of the four attars, with no oudh, in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml.
The table takes each family you named and says what is actually on the shelf. Some rows are a yes, some are a partial yes and two are a plain no, which is the point: you should know before you buy, not after.
The SOSA plan
Citrus, green, clean musk and two neighbours, and what SOSA has of each
The family, and what it is made of
What SOSA has, said plainly
Citrus: bergamot, neroli, a light bright lift
As the top of Adaa. Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli open it, and they leave quickly. SOSA makes no citrus-only scent. View →
Green: cardamom, vetiver, cedarwood, dry spice and wood
Inside Adaa, as its cardamom and its dry base. SOSA makes no single-note green scent and no vetiver soliflore.
Clean musk: white musk with almost nothing on top
As the base of Adaa, under vetiver and cedarwood. SOSA makes no musk soliflore; white musk is a base note in Adaa, Ameeri and Nawaab.
Transparent and airy: bergamot, tea, light wood
SOSA Khayaal at ₹599 for 10ml: sparkling bergamot, neroli, black tea and amberwood. A perfume oil, not an attar.
Crisp and orchard-fresh: pear, freesia, soft musk
SOSA Bahaar at ₹599 for 10ml: crisp orchard pear, freesia and soft musk. A perfume oil, fruitier than Adaa, and a different idea of fresh.
If you want a warmer bottle for later: Ameeri at ₹385 adds Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, amber and a little soft oudh to the same white musk. The sensible second bottle for the cooler months, and not the first for a summer.
The fork is soft or clear. Adaa is bright, then soft, then dry. Khayaal is sparkling bergamot, neroli, black tea and amberwood, airier and less floral. Choose the word you would use for your own skin.
Two rows. Adaa is the answer for the reader who wants light and dry-skinned, and Khayaal is the answer for the one who wants airy and clear. The note underneath says what neither of them is, and how to wear either through a summer.
The SOSA specification for a hot-season attar
Adaa for light and dry-skinned, Khayaal for airy and clear
Both rows start small: the 3ml of Adaa at ₹379, or the 10ml of Khayaal at ₹599. The larger sizes come after a full summer: ₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12ml for Adaa and ₹599 for 10ml, ₹1,899 for 50ml, ₹3,599 for 100ml for Khayaal. Neither is a single-note citrus, green or musk scent, because SOSA makes none. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin for the attars and nothing further; how long any fragrance lasts depends on skin, dose, clothing and the day. A patch test on first use is the only skin advice we give. I cannot promise you what anyone else will make of it, and I will not try. Ours is a contact page and a person who replies: Ask for an attar recommendation and tell us how you travel and where you work.

A note from Sonal
When someone from Hyderabad writes to me about summer, the sentence is almost always the same: something fresh, nothing heavy, nothing that turns sweet. I take the word comfortable at face value and then I break it into three things I can check on a pyramid. A top that leaves. A middle that stays dry. A base that stays close. It is less romantic than a mood, and it is far more useful.
The awkward part is that the three families people name, citrus, green and clean musk, are three things I do not make as separate bottles. There is no single-note citrus, no green scent, no musk soliflore. What I make is Adaa, which carries a little of each in the order they should arrive: bergamot first, cardamom and white flowers in the middle, white musk with vetiver and cedarwood underneath. I would rather you hear that from me than discover it on your wrist.
The advice is small. One 3ml, one dab, and three different days: a weekday, a weekend afternoon, a late evening. Judge each one at hour three. If it is clearer you wanted, Khayaal is the next thing to try, and the only other bottle I would ask you to consider. I cannot promise you what anyone else will make of it, so the measure is yours. A portion of every purchase supports Nanhi Kali.
Frequently asked questions
Which note should I choose for a Hyderabad summer?
Choose the base before the top. A citrus top on a sweet base is the cologne-counter smell, and it turns by the afternoon. Look for white musk with dry woods underneath, as in SOSA Adaa, and treat bergamot and neroli as the introduction. Oud, amber, tobacco and vanilla are good notes for another season.
Is there a green or vetiver attar in the range?
No. SOSA makes no single-note green scent and no vetiver soliflore. Green arrives inside SOSA Adaa as green cardamom and magnolia, and vetiver and cedarwood as its dry base. If a pure green scent is what you want, nothing in the range is it, and I would rather say so before you buy.
Is there a clean musk attar?
No. White musk is a base note in Adaa, Ameeri and Nawaab, and never the subject. SOSA makes no musk soliflore. Adaa is the nearest in character, because its vetiver and cedarwood keep the musk dry and skin-like, but it is still a layered fragrance with a citrus opening and a floral heart.
Should I reapply through the day?
Not in the first week. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin and nothing more, and how long any fragrance lasts depends on skin, dose, clothing and the day. Judge one dab at hour three. If you then want a second, make it a deliberate decision and the same single dab, not a reflex.
Can I wear it in the evening as well?
Yes, and the same rule applies: one dab, and judge it at hour three. A late evening is a good third test day, because it shows you how the dry base behaves away from the working day. If you find you want something warmer then, SOSA Ameeri is the step up.
The attar to leave out of this particular search: Nawaab at ₹399 is white royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron and aged tobacco leaf over amber, leather and white musk. The deepest of the four, and a different brief from this one.
SOSA — Light and Dryone 3ml of Adaa, one dab a day, judged at hour three on three different days
SOSA Adaa at ₹379 is Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. SOSA makes no single-note citrus, green or musk scent, and Khayaal is the airy alternative if soft is the wrong word. Alcohol-free, hand-blended in Pune. A portion of every purchase supports Nanhi Kali.
