A car is the smallest space any of us scents, and the one we sit closest to. Two or three cubic metres of air, a metre from your face, with the windows up and the heater on for four months of the year. I say this to customers constantly and it still surprises people: almost every car fragrance problem I am sent is a dose problem, not a scent problem. The bottle is not weak and the oil is not wrong. The cabin simply gives fragrance nowhere to go, and winter takes away the little ventilation that was rescuing you in October.

Is the SOSA Safar the same as the diffusers hotels use?
No, and it is worth being clear about the difference. Hotel lobbies are generally scented by large HVAC-linked or standalone commercial units sized for hundreds or thousands of cubic metres of connected public space. The SOSA Safar at Rs 3,999 is a personal-space device: cordless, waterless, cold-diffusing pure undiluted oil with no water tank and no heating element, on three speeds with a 1, 2 or 3 hour auto-off timer and a 2000 mAh battery. In a car that is entirely appropriate, because a cabin is a personal space of a few cubic metres rather than a public one. We do not publish a coverage figure for it in square feet or cubic metres, and you should be sceptical of anyone who does for a device this size. It ships with three hotel-inspired blends, which are SOSA's own interpretations; SOSA is not affiliated with any hotel brand.
Which SOSA blends are the hotel-inspired ones?

Why does my car smell of fragrance rather than of clean?
Almost always because the level is too high for the volume of air, and sometimes because there is a live smell underneath that the fragrance is fighting. Take them in that order. A cabin is roughly 2.5 to 4 cubic metres, and in winter it is closed with the heater running, which means almost no air exchange and warmer air lifting fragrance faster off any source - so the same setting that was right in October is genuinely stronger now. Tighten the stopper, or use one spray instead of two, and give it a few days. If it still reads as perfumed rather than clean, look for the source: mats, boot, ashtray, a bag left in the back, damp carpet after the monsoon. A fragrance layered over a live smell always produces a third smell, and people identify it as a cover-up even when they cannot say why.
How often should I change the scent to keep the car interesting?
For a hotel-like result, you should not. The effect you are after comes from repetition, and the people who ride with you regularly only start associating a scent with your car once it has been the same for long enough that they have stopped consciously noticing it. Changing it every bottle resets that clock permanently. Refill the same glass rather than switching: 15ml refills from Rs 399 give you another four to six weeks of the identical register and save Rs 50 to Rs 60 against a new bottle. If you genuinely want variety, the honest place for it is seasonal and structural rather than decorative - many people run the same register year-round and simply tighten the stopper for winter, which is the correct winter move anyway.
Can I use a room fragrance or a hotel-style reed diffuser in the car instead?
It is not a good idea, for two separate reasons. A room product is dosed for a room - tens of cubic metres - and a car cabin is a few, so anything sized for a bedroom will be substantially too strong in a vehicle. And a reed diffuser is an open vessel of liquid, which does not belong in a moving car on any road, in any weather, on any upholstery.
