Founder Diaries · Car Perfumes, Parking & How a Car Is Actually Used
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 12 min read Updated September 2026
This is the page the rest of this cluster leans on, so it will not hedge. Plugging a car in at night does not change anything about the fragrance inside it. Not the scent, not how long a bottle lasts, not which format suits you, not how much you should use. SOSA publishes no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product, makes no powertrain claim of any kind, and publishes nothing whatsoever about charging. A perfume sits in a closed volume of air with a person in it, and that volume is indifferent to what is turning the wheels or what is filling the battery. The useful question really is the one underneath. Where is the hatchback parked, how long does it stay shut, and what happens when the next journey begins? Those three decide everything, and this page is about them.
SOSA car perfume, spray or hanging, from Rs 449
SOSA car perfume · spray or hanging, same price · nine scents from ₹449 →
The thesis of this whole cluster, stated plainly: charging is not a fragrance variable, and closure, parking and occupancy are. The 10ml spray is ₹449 to ₹549 and published at 100 sprays - three months and above at one a day. The 12ml hanging is the same price and runs 4 to 6 weeks, with the stopper as its adjustment. Neither is published as suiting one kind of car over another, because no such product exists.
Quick answers — read this first
Does home charging affect car fragrance in any way? No. SOSA publishes nothing about charging and no powertrain claim of any kind, and there is no mechanism by which a battery filling overnight alters a closed cabin's fragrance. What people notice and attribute to the charge is the parking: a car that sits plugged in on a driveway for ten hours is a car that has been shut for ten hours, which is equally true of a petrol hatchback on the same driveway.

What actually decides car fragrance if not the powertrain? Three things. How long the cabin stays closed, which sets what the first thirty seconds are like. Where it is parked - covered or open, basement or driveway. And what happens when the next journey begins: who gets in, how many of them, how long they stay and whether the windows go down. All three are behaviour and parking, and none of them is on a spec sheet.

So does the format choice change for an EV owner? No, but it often changes for the person, which is not the same thing. A 10ml spray is ₹449 to ₹549 and holds 100 sprays, so it exists only when used. A 12ml hanging is the same price and runs 4 to 6 weeks whether the car is occupied or not. Which of those fits depends on your parking and your occupied hours, and those do differ between households.
The short answer
Short answer: No. Home charging is not a fragrance variable and SOSA publishes nothing about it, nor any petrol, diesel or electric product. The three things that do decide it are how long the cabin stays shut, where the car is parked, and what happens when the next journey begins. A 10ml spray is Rs 449 to Rs 549 and holds 100 sprays; a 12ml hanging is the same price and runs 4 to 6 weeks.
The pick: Either format, chosen on your parking and your occupied hours: a 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549, 100 sprays, or a 12ml hanging at the same price, 4 to 6 weeks. The plug is not part of the decision.
Why: There is no published mechanism connecting a charger to a cabin's fragrance. There is a very real connection between closure, parking and occupancy - and those three are what the whole cluster turns on.
What the car runs on is not the variable. How it is used is.On demand - 10ml spray ₹449 to ₹549, published at 100 spraysContinuous - 12ml hanging, same price, 4 to 6 weeksVentilate a hot or long-shut cabin before you judge itNever - fragrance instead of finding a smell's source
A car spends most of its life empty. The hours that matter are the ones somebody is sitting in it, and on a typical commute that is one or two out of twenty-four. The useful decision is therefore not which product lasts longest while nobody is there - it is whether you want fragrance you switch on or fragrance that simply runs. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, which is three months at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks and its stopper loosens for more or tightens for less. Nothing here depends on what is under the bonnet.
Straight answer
Does home charging itself matter to car fragrance, or is the useful question really where the hatchback is parked, how long it stays closed and what happens when the next journey begins?
Home charging does not matter to car fragrance at all, and the three things you listed are exactly the ones that do. Let us be unambiguous, because this cluster exists to be. SOSA publishes no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product. It makes no powertrain claim anywhere. It publishes nothing whatsoever about charging. There is no mechanism to describe and no figure to cite, because neither exists - a fragrance sits in a closed volume of air with a person in it, and that volume is not informed about what is filling the battery overnight. What people genuinely notice, and then attribute to the plug, is closure. A car on a charger for ten hours is a car that has been shut for ten hours, which is the same condition as a petrol hatchback locked on the same driveway. Here are the three that decide it. First, how long the cabin stays closed - eight or ten hours shut is what makes the first thirty seconds what they are, and it is the same whether the reason is a night, a workday or a holiday. Second, where it is parked - a covered basement and an open bay in morning sun are different mornings, and no product changes that. Third, what happens when the next journey begins - who gets in, how many of them, how long they stay and whether the windows come down. Those three are behaviour, and they are the only things worth asking about. The published range answers them simply. A 10ml spray is ₹449 to ₹549 and holds 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two - and it exists only when somebody presses it. A 12ml hanging costs the same for the same scent, runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. One last honest limit, because it is the other thing readers ask here: fragrance adds a scent to a cabin. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, so a car that has started smelling of something new is a question about the car rather than about which bottle to buy. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Charging: not a variable. Closure, parking and the next journey: the only three that are.
The quick version: the plug is irrelevant. Ask how long the cabin stays shut, where it is parked and who gets in next. Then choose: a 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549, 100 sprays, for a cabin occupied in short decidable bursts, or a 12ml hanging at the same price, 4 to 6 weeks, for a car you would rather not think about at all.
SOSA car perfumes from ₹449

The three variables that do decide it, in order of how much they matter

If the plug is out of the decision, something has to take its place, and the replacement is more useful than the thing it replaces. These three explain every real difference between two owners, and you can check all of them from your own driveway.

01
Closure
How long the cabin stays shut is the variable people mistake for charging
Eight to ten hours is the figure that gets attributed to overnight charging, and it is really just a night. A closed cabin is a closed cabin: the doors have not opened, the air has not moved, and the first thirty seconds after you unlock it are set by that and by the weather, not by the charger. The same eight to ten hours happen to a petrol hatchback on the same driveway, to a car nobody drove at the weekend, and to a car parked at an office all day. That is why this cluster treats closure as the real unit rather than charging: it lets you compare a driveway night to a workday afternoon, which is a genuinely useful comparison, instead of comparing two engines, which is not.
Tip: Ten hours shut is ten hours shut, and no plug makes it a different ten hours.
02
Parking
Covered or open, basement or open bay - this is the difference people can actually feel
Two owners with identical cars and identical commutes can have completely different mornings, and it is almost always the bay. A basement is dark and even; an uncovered bay in morning sun is neither, and the cabin you open at seven reflects that. This is also the one variable in the list that you can sometimes change, which is why it is worth naming. What this page will not do is attach a performance figure to it, because SOSA publishes none - no evaporation rate, no scent-throw figure and no seasonal claim anywhere in the range. The published temperature line is a formulation statement: the car perfumes are formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, which says how they are built and nothing about how they behave on a given driveway.
03
The next journey
Who gets in, how many, how long, and whether the windows come down
This is the variable that decides how much of any product you actually need, and it has nothing to do with the car. One person for twenty minutes with the windows up is a different cabin from four people for two hours with them down, and it is the only part of the question where the amount genuinely changes. The published controls are two and they are both simple. On the spray, the press count: a 10ml is 100 sprays, one spray covers the cabin, and pressing once rather than twice halves the whole thing. On the hanging, the stopper: loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler, set once for the 4 to 6 weeks the bottle runs. Anything beyond those two is somebody inventing a control that SOSA does not publish.
Tip: The amount follows the people in the car, not the thing under the bonnet.
SOSA Mysore Orange Blossom car perfume spray, 10ml and 50ml
The one number that settles most of this
A 10ml spray is 100 sprays. The rest is division.
SOSA publishes the count on the bottle: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, and the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The pages state the working too - three months and above at one spray a day, and fifty days at two a day. That turns a vague question into an arithmetic one. Spray before every journey and somebody making four short trips a day is out of a 10ml in about twenty-five days; the same bottle in the hands of somebody who sprays once each morning lasts the published three months. Neither is wrong - but only one of them is what the person expected when they bought it. Work out your own number before you decide the product is not lasting, because a hundred sprays is a hundred sprays regardless of how the car is powered.
See Mysore Orange Blossom from ₹549 →
Work it out in this order
Replace the wrong question with the right three
  1. Drop the plug from the decision. Nothing published connects charging to fragrance.
  2. Count the hours the cabin stays shut. That is what you were noticing all along.
  3. Look at the bay. Covered or open changes your morning more than any bottle will.
  4. Ask who gets in next, how many and for how long. The amount follows the people.
The SOSA principle
Charging is the most-asked and least-relevant fact about an electric car's cabin. Closure, parking and occupancy explain every difference people credit to the plug.
Which is why this bank rejects the premise first and then answers the better question underneath it.

Choosing a scent once the false variable is out of the way

Once the false variable is gone, choosing a scent is straightforward, and it helps that the spray and the hanging cost the same for the same scent - so format is about how you want to use the car and never about budget. Jasmine at ₹449 and Lavender at ₹479 are the quiet end, Lavender softest. Icy Mint at ₹489, Lemon at ₹499 and Sea Breeze at ₹509 are the bright end. Sandalwood at ₹479, Vetiver at ₹509 and Oud at ₹509 are the deep end, Oud deepest as the pages publish it. Mysore Orange Blossom at ₹549 is spray only and has no hanging version. None of those nine is described anywhere as suiting one kind of car over another, and none of them is.

The SOSA gift edit
Four decisions people actually face here, and what each one gets wrong
The option Who it suits, and where it fails
Buy on parking and occupied hours The decision this page argues for. A spray if the cabin is occupied in short, decidable bursts; a hanging if you would rather never think about it. It gets nothing wrong except that it takes five minutes of honest self-assessment first.
Buy on the powertrain The decision the category invites and the one this cluster exists to refute. It gets everything wrong, because no such product and no such difference is published - you end up choosing on a variable that does not exist.
Buy the longest-lasting thing available Understandable, and it works for a car somebody is in most of the day. It gets the empty hours wrong: a 12ml hanging at 4 to 6 weeks spends most of its life on a cabin with nobody in it, which is fine if that is what you wanted and wasteful if it is not.
Buy nothing and fix the car instead The right answer more often than a fragrance page likes to admit. Fragrance adds a scent; it does not remove one, so if the cabin has developed a new smell, the mats, the boot or the air-conditioning is the place to look. It gets it wrong only when the car is fine and you simply wanted it to smell of something.
SOSA Lavender car perfume, spray and hanging formats
The format choice, and why price does not decide it
Spray or hanging - the same price, scent for scent
This is the unusual part of the SOSA car range and it makes the decision cleaner than it usually is: the spray and the hanging cost the same for any given scent - ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze. So you are not trading money against convenience; you are choosing between fragrance you decide to have and fragrance that is simply there. The spray is 100 sprays in 10ml and you control every one of them. The hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass and asks nothing of you, and its stopper is the strength control - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler. One further practical difference that decides it for some people: 15ml refills exist for the hanging and there is no spray refill at all.
See SOSA car perfumes from ₹449 →

The published disclosure is short, and it is worth knowing where it ends. 100 sprays in a 10ml, 500 in a 50ml at ₹1,499, 200 in a spray combo; 3 months and above at one a day and 50 days at two; 4 to 6 weeks for a 12ml hanging and 8 to 12 weeks alternating across a hanging combo; a stopper that adjusts the hanging; a fine-mist atomizer where one spray covers the cabin. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity. 15ml refills exist for the hanging at ₹399 to ₹449, with no refill for the sprays. Beyond that list there is no cabin-volume figure, no coverage figure and no seasonal claim - and no page in this bank will supply one.

The premise worth rejecting before anything else
A fragrance does not know what is turning the wheels.
There is no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product in the SOSA range, and SOSA publishes nothing whatsoever about powertrain - because a perfume in a closed cabin behaves the same way whether that cabin is being pushed along by a battery or an engine. What genuinely differs between two owners is everything else: where the car is parked and for how long, how many separate journeys it makes in a day, how many of those hours anybody is actually inside it, whether the windows are open, and who else is in the car. Those are real variables and they change the answer completely. The published figures speak to them directly: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, which is three months and more at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously with a stopper that loosens for more and tightens for less; the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. So when two people with identical cars need different answers, it is never because one of them is electric.

One message, one honest recommendation
Tell SOSA how many hours a day somebody is actually sitting in the car, where it is parked and for how long, whether the windows are usually open or shut, and who else drives it - and you will be told which format and how much, including the times the honest answer is the hanging at the same price because you would rather not think about it.

The SOSA gifting range

Two questions settle almost every car fragrance decision, and neither of them is what the car runs on. How many hours a day is somebody actually sitting in it? A 25 km commute is about an hour; a field job can be four. That number decides how much of what you buy is experienced by anybody at all, because the rest of the day is a sealed cabin in a parking bay. Then: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray holds 100 sprays and does nothing until you press it; the 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks whether anybody is there or not, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. They cost the same for the same scent, so price does not decide it - which is unusual, and useful.

The SOSA range, sorted by how much it asks of the person receiving it
Start from what the gift demands, not from what it costs
Product What it is What it is for Price
SOSA car perfume spray - 10ml Fragrance you switch on ₹449 to ₹549 across nine scents. Published at 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day. A fine-mist atomizer; one spray covers the cabin from ₹449
SOSA car hanging - 12ml Fragrance that simply runs The same price as the spray, scent for scent. Published at 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle, and the stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler from ₹449
SOSA car perfume spray - 50ml The long-run size ₹1,499, published at 500 sprays and about a year and more. The honest size when you already know the routine, and the wrong one while you are still working it out ₹1,499
Car perfume combos Two scents, one purchase ₹899 for Jasmine & Lemon or Jasmine & Lavender; ₹949 for Oud + Lemon or Sandalwood & Oud. Spray combo (2 x 10ml) or hanging combo (2 x 12ml) at the same price. Four published pairs from ₹899
Car Perfume Sprays Discovery Set Three to try ₹699 to ₹899 for three sprays, or ₹2,999 for all nine. Nine published combinations, and those nine are the whole range - none is composed to order from ₹699
Hanging refills - 15ml Only the hanging refills ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. There is no spray refill, and Orange Blossom has no refill at all - so if refilling matters, that decides the format for you from ₹399
SOSA Safar The powered option ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. A different category from a spray or a hanging, and listed here so you can rule it in or out rather than wonder from ₹3,999

The fact that answers most of these questions is a division sum. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays. Somebody who sprays before each of four short daily trips empties it in about twenty-five days; somebody who sprays once a day gets the published three months and more. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks instead, continuously, and its stopper adjusts the strength - loosen for more, tighten for less. Spray and hanging are the same price scent for scent, so the choice is genuinely about how you want to use the car rather than what you want to spend. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, made in India. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour and it does not clean the air - so a car that has developed a smell is a question about the car, not about the perfume. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available, with quantities settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

What the SOSA car pages publish, and what they do not
Everything below is on the live product pages. Anything not on this list is not something a page like this should state.
  • Nine scents, two formats, one price each - Jasmine ₹449; Lavender and Sandalwood ₹479; Icy Mint ₹489; Lemon ₹499; Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze ₹509. Each is sold as a spray or a hanging at the same price. Mysore Orange Blossom is ₹549 and is spray only.

A spray combo is 200 sprays, stated as 100 days at two a day rotating. These are the only usage figures SOSA gives.

A note from Sonal

We get asked which car perfume is right for an electric car, and I have never been able to give the answer the question wants. There isn't one. A fragrance sits in a closed box of air with a person in it, and that box does not behave differently because the thing moving it is a battery. If anyone tells you otherwise they are selling you a category, not a product.

What I can tell you is what actually changes between two owners, because it is not subtle. One car is occupied ninety minutes a day and another is occupied six. One sits in a basement and one bakes outdoors for nine hours. One has the windows down for the first ten minutes of every drive and one never opens them at all. One is driven by three people who want three different things from it. Those differences are enormous, and none of them is on the spec sheet of the car.

So the numbers I would want you to hold on to are the ones about use rather than about chemistry. A 10ml spray is a hundred sprays. That is three months if you spray once a day and about fifty days if you spray twice, and if you spray before every one of four short errands it is gone in under a month. The hanging runs four to six weeks and you can loosen or tighten the stopper to change it. Those two facts settle more of these questions than anything I could tell you about the car.

And the part I will not pretend about: a perfume cannot fix a smell. It adds a scent, it does not remove one. If a car has started smelling of something it did not smell of before, that is a question about the car - the air-conditioning, the mats, something in the boot, water that got in during the monsoon - and adding fragrance on top of it is the one thing I would ask you not to do.

Frequently asked questions

Does charging a car at home change the fragrance inside it?
No. SOSA publishes nothing about charging and there is no mechanism by which a battery filling overnight alters a closed cabin. What people notice is closure: a car plugged in for ten hours has been shut for ten hours, which is identical to a petrol car locked on the same driveway for the same time.
Is there a SOSA car perfume made for electric cars?
No. There is no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product in the range, and no powertrain claim is published anywhere. There are nine scents in two formats at the same price, and the choice between them is about how the car is used rather than what powers it.
What should I be asking instead?
Three questions. How long does the cabin stay shut between journeys? Where is the car parked while it is shut, covered or open? And what happens when the next journey starts, meaning who gets in, how many of them and for how long? Those three explain every real difference between two owners.
Will a fragrance help if the car has started to smell of something?
It will not, and this is the one place this bank is blunt. A fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise or purify an existing one. A car that smells of something new is telling you about the mats, the boot, a spill or the air-conditioning, and the honest first step is to find the source rather than to buy a bottle.
Which format should I buy, then?
Whichever matches your occupied hours. A 10ml spray is Rs 449 to Rs 549 and holds 100 sprays, which is 3 months and above at one a day, and it produces nothing until you press it. A 12ml hanging is the same price for the same scent and runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously, with a stopper that loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler.

Specifications verified from the live SOSA product pages, September 2026: SOSA publishes nine car perfume scents. Eight are sold in two formats at the same price per scent - a 10ml spray and a 12ml hanging: Jasmine ₹449; Lavender and Sandalwood ₹479; Icy Mint ₹489; Lemon ₹499; Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze ₹509. Mysore Orange Blossom is spray only, ₹549 in 10ml. A 50ml spray is ₹1,499. The published quantities are: 10ml equals 100 sprays, stated as three months and above at one spray a day and fifty days at two a day; 50ml equals 500 sprays, stated as about a year and more; a spray combo is 200 sprays; and a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks, that is 28 to 42 days, of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle whose stopper loosens for stronger and tightens for subtler. Four combos are published - Jasmine & Lemon and Jasmine & Lavender at ₹899, Oud + Lemon and Sandalwood & Oud at ₹949 - each as a spray combo of 2 x 10ml or a hanging combo of 2 x 12ml at the same price. The Car Perfume Sprays Discovery Set publishes nine combinations, ₹699 to ₹899 for three and ₹2,999 for all nine; those nine are the entire set range and none is composed to order. Hanging refills are 15ml at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents; there is no spray refill and Orange Blossom has no refill. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, made in India. SOSA Safar is ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any difference in fragrance behaviour between petrol, diesel and electric vehicles - SOSA makes no powertrain-specific product and no powertrain claim; any cabin-volume, coverage, scent-throw, projection or evaporation figure; any claim about how a scent is perceived over hours or about sensory adaptation; any seasonal performance claim beyond the stated formulation for heat and humidity; any shelf life, expiry or concentration; and any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a cabin. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, it does not clean the air, and a car that has developed a new smell is a question about the vehicle rather than about perfume. No health claim is made anywhere on this page, in either direction - nothing here states or implies that any fragrance causes or prevents a headache, nausea, motion sickness or any other effect, and nothing is said about safety in pregnancy or for children or the elderly, because SOSA publishes no information this page can rely on. No third-party brand is named and no competitor or category of competing product is characterised. No rating, review count, strength percentage or customer name from any product page is cited. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; that is the only branding option, and quantities are settled on WhatsApp. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
