This question is usually asked by somebody who owns two showrooms at different price points, or who is about to open a second one a tier above the first. They expect me to describe two approaches. There is only one, and the interesting part is the single variable that separates them.
Quick answers — read this first
Does a high-end kitchen showroom need a different scenting strategy from a budget one? No. The strategy is identical and the level is the entire difference. Same dry, material-led register; same rule that nothing edible ever enters a kitchen showroom; same single profile across one volume of air; same trading-hours timer; same discipline of setting the level for the ninetieth minute of a consultation. What changes is the number on the dial, and it changes downward as the kitchens get more expensive.

Why would the expensive showroom be the quieter one? Because effort is the thing that shows. A room that has clearly been dressed reads as a business trying to be something, and at a high price that reading costs more than it does lower down the market. There is also a plain physical reason: premium showrooms tend to have longer consultations and larger volumes, and both argue for a lower setting rather than a higher one. If a customer can name the fragrance, the room is over-scented at any price.

Does the budget showroom need a cheaper machine? Not necessarily, and this is where people get it backwards. The machine is chosen by cubic volume and air path, not by average ticket. A 2,000 sq ft value-focused showroom needs one SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 just as a premium one does; a 600 sq ft premium studio needs one SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899, and a Vaayu there would be the wrong buy.
The short answer
Short answer: no - the strategy is the same at both ends of the market and the level is the only real difference. Dry, material-led, nothing edible, one profile on one air path, timers on trading hours. The premium room runs quieter, because visible effort costs it more. The machine is chosen by cubic volume rather than by average ticket.
The pick: one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) for any display floor past about 1,500 sq ft at either price point, set lower in the premium room, or one SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) where the showroom is a single room.
Next step: send both floor plans if you run two showrooms at different tiers, and we will suggest one profile and two starting settings - Ask for a retail scenting plan.
High-end versus budget scenting - the brief in five linesSame strategy at both ends of the marketThe level is the difference, and premium goes downNothing edible, in either showroom, everMachine chosen by cubic volume, not by ticketNo one can promise it moves a business number
Two showrooms at two price points get one plan and two numbers. Almost everybody expects two plans, and the second plan is where the money and the mistakes go.

Straight answer
Does a high-end modular kitchen showroom really need a different scenting strategy from a budget one?
No, and I want to be flat about it, because the belief that it does is what sells people things they do not need. The strategy is the same at both ends of this market. Both showrooms want a dry, material-led register - dry woods, something green or herbal, a dry tea, a clean mineral note. Both must refuse everything edible: no vanilla, no bakery, no coffee, no caramel, no warm spice, at any price. Both run one profile across one volume of air, because display kitchens share air and per-display personalities mix in the aisle whatever the kitchens cost. Both run on trading hours rather than on the appointment diary. Both set the level from the consultation seat at the ninetieth minute rather than from the doorway. That is the strategy, and it is the same document twice. What differs is one number: the setting. And it moves in the direction that surprises people - the more expensive the kitchens, the lower it goes. There are two reasons and they are independent. The first is about reading: a room that has evidently been dressed for you reads as a business working hard to be perceived a certain way, and visible effort is more expensive to a premium brand than to a value one, because the premium brand is asking you to believe it does this effortlessly. The second is physical rather than reputational: premium showrooms usually mean longer consultations, larger volumes and more time seated, and exposure compounds across sixty to ninety minutes. So the same profile, run at the same number in both buildings, will be measurably too much in the one where people stay longer. Now the honest concession, and it runs the other way. The budget showroom is not the one I usually find over-scented. The rooms that go too far are almost always the ones that have recently spent a great deal on a fit-out and want the visitor to register that. If you own both, expect to turn the premium room down and leave the value room roughly where a normal person would set it. The other thing that does not change with price is the hardware logic. The machine is chosen by cubic volume and air path, never by average ticket. A 2,000 sq ft value showroom needs one SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 exactly as a premium one does. A 600 sq ft premium studio needs one SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899, and a Vaayu there would be the wrong buy however expensive the kitchens on the stands are - it is rated for roughly seven times the volume you have. The Vaayu is waterless, so it adds no moisture to the room and leaves no residue on surfaces, which is a fact about the machine rather than a claim about your finishes. And plainly, because this question often hides a hope: no one can promise you that ambient scent moves footfall, enquiries, referrals or order value at either price point, and a supplier who offers you a figure is selling. It is never a way to cover a fit-out smell either. Ask for a retail scenting plan and send both floor plans if you run two.
One strategy, two numbers. Dry, material-led, nothing edible, one profile per volume of air, timers on trading hours - identical at both tiers. The premium room runs quieter because effort is what shows. Machine chosen by cubic volume: ₹1,899 or ₹11,999.
The same machine serves both tiers: one SOSA Vaayu past about 1,500 sq ft - adjustable intensity so one profile runs at two different numbers, a key-lock to hold each of them, and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers. ₹11,999. Below 750 sq ft, the ₹1,899 Sukoon, at either price point.

SOSA Vaayu
Display floors past about 1,500 sq ft, at either tier
SOSA Vaayu
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, roughly 2,000-3,000 sq ft. 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app with 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, auto-stop and key-lock. Adjustable intensity is the feature that lets one profile serve two price points honestly - same oil, two numbers.
From ₹11,999
SOSA Sukoon
Under about 750 sq ft - buy this instead
SOSA Sukoon
Ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft, supplied with three 15ml fragrances. A single-room studio is a single room whether it sells ₹2 lakh kitchens or ₹10 lakh ones, and a Vaayu at six times the price would be running at a fraction of what it is rated for.
From ₹1,899
SOSA Vaayu
One machine, two settings, two showrooms
SOSA Vaayu
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft), 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mount, auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS certified. Made in India. Cold-air refill oil is not currently sold separately - the machine ships with 400ml and further supply should be confirmed with SOSA.

The three things that stay the same

If you own two showrooms at two tiers, these three are written once and applied twice. Only the setting gets two entries.

1
The register does not move with the price
Dry and material-led is right at ₹2 lakh and at ₹10 lakh
There is no cheap register and no expensive one. Dry woods, green and herbal, dry tea, clean mineral are correct in a value showroom for the same reasons they are correct in a premium one: they agree with what the building is made of, they do not compete with live cooking, and they do not read as a meal. The edible shelf is ruled out at both ends - a value showroom that smells of vanilla reads as a bakery just as reliably, it simply has less to lose. SOSA's Fresh Brew, Coorg coffee and Kerala vanilla at ₹849, is the clearest example of the register to avoid, wherever you sit in the market.
Tip: Write one register down for the business and apply it to every showroom you open.

One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.

2
The air path does not care what you charge
One volume, one profile, one source placed upstream
Whatever the tier, display kitchens share one volume of air, so you get one profile across the floor rather than a personality per display. Whatever the tier, the machine goes near where air enters, about a metre up, away from the AC return and never at the door. Whatever the tier, a second machine belongs to a second volume of air - another floor, its own AC zone, a closed consultation room - and never to a second corner of the same floor. Physics is the part of this that is genuinely identical, and it is the part people most often expect to buy their way out of.
Tip: Walk from the entrance to the consultation desk once a quarter and judge the level at the desk.
SOSA Vaayu
One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.

3
Only the dial gets two entries
Write both numbers down, and expect the premium one to be lower
Set each showroom on its own, in its own building, with its own team, and record the number on a card by the machine. The premium room will usually end up lower, for two independent reasons: visible effort costs a premium brand more, and longer consultations in larger volumes compound the dose. Take the measurement from the designers who breathe it nine hours a day rather than from your own nose, which adapts within twenty minutes of arriving. And put the key-lock on in both rooms, because the level drifting upward is the failure mode at every price point.
Tip: If your team gives you a yes-but about the setting, treat it as a no.

The SOSA principle
There is no premium scenting strategy and no budget one. There is a single strategy with a dial on it, and the more the kitchens cost, the further down the dial goes.
Which is why the second plan people expect me to write is the one that would cost them something.
SOSA Vaayu
Adjustable intensity: One profile can run at two different numbers in two different showrooms, which is the whole of the high-end versus budget difference. ₹11,999.

The plan, tier by tier

The left column is the decision, and the right column shows how little of it actually changes between a value showroom and a premium one.

The SOSA plan
What changes between a high-end and a budget kitchen showroom
The decision What to do
The register
No change. Dry, material-led, nothing edible, at both tiers and for the same three reasons.
The number of profiles
No change. One volume of air gets one profile, whatever the kitchens cost and however many displays are on the floor.
SOSA VaayuPlacement and air path
No change. Near where air enters, about a metre up, away from the AC return, never at the door and never inside a display kitchen.
SOSA VaayuThe setting on the dial
This is the difference, and it moves down as the kitchens get more expensive. Write the number on a card by the machine in each showroom.
SOSA SukoonThe machine itself
Chosen by cubic volume, never by ticket. A 600 sq ft premium studio is ₹1,899; a 2,000 sq ft value showroom is ₹11,999.

The intensity doctrine that this whole answer rests on is set out in how strong fragrance should be inside a modular kitchen showroom. And if the underlying worry is whether the showroom as a whole reads as the brand you are trying to be, that is answered in how an experience centre can feel consistent with its premium positioning. SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel.

SOSA Vaayu
Key-lock at both tiers: The level drifting upward is the failure mode at every price point, and the lock is what prevents it. ₹11,999.
One profile, two numbers, two showrooms
SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999 has adjustable intensity and a key-lock, which is exactly what running one register at two tiers requires.
See the SOSA Vaayu Book a scenting plan
The over-scented showrooms are almost never the cheap ones. They are the ones that have just spent a great deal on a fit-out and would quite like you to notice.

The SOSA kitchen-showroom specification

Two machines cover almost every modular kitchen showroom at any price point, with the Aangan taking over at experience-centre scale. Cold-air refill oil is not currently sold separately, so the 400ml supplied runs 90+ days a fill and continuity of supply should be confirmed with SOSA before you plan around it. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Write one register and one placement rule for the business, then set each showroom's number in its own building with its own team. Ambient scent here is a presentation decision like lighting or sample storage; it is never used to cover another smell - not laminate, not adhesive, not cooking - and a showroom with an off-gassing or extraction problem fixes that first, with ventilation and time. And plainly: no one can promise you that ambient scent moves footfall, enquiries, referrals or order value, at any price point, and a supplier quoting you a figure is selling. A note from Sonal

Owners who run two showrooms at two tiers usually come to me expecting two documents, and it slightly deflates them when I hand back one. But the single document is the honest outcome, and it is also the cheaper one. The register is the same, the rule about food is the same, the air path is the same, the timer policy is the same, and the discipline of judging the level from the consultation seat is the same. Only the number differs.

The direction that number moves is the part worth remembering, because it is the opposite of what the money suggests. The more expensive the kitchens, the quieter the room, because a premium brand is claiming to do all this without visible effort and an obvious fragrance is visible effort. In practice the showrooms I most often ask to turn things down are not the value ones at all. They are the ones fresh out of an expensive fit-out, where every element has been chosen to be noticed and the air was chosen the same way.

On hardware I would rather undersell, at either tier. Under about 750 sq ft, a Sukoon at ₹1,899, or a Mountain Breeze reed at ₹849 if you would rather have no schedule at all. From about 1,500 sq ft, one Vaayu at ₹11,999 per volume of air. Bulk pricing, GST or corporate invoicing, AMC, warranty and installation terms are not published, so ask us rather than assume. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Does a high-end kitchen showroom need a different scenting strategy from a budget showroom?
No. The strategy is identical: a dry, material-led register, nothing edible, one profile across one volume of air, the machine placed on the air path rather than at the door, and timers on trading hours. The only real difference is the setting, and it moves down rather than up as the kitchens get more expensive, because visible effort costs a premium brand more.
Why should the more expensive showroom smell fainter?
Two independent reasons. A room that has evidently been dressed reads as a business trying hard to be perceived a certain way, which is more damaging when the brand is claiming effortlessness. And premium showrooms usually mean longer consultations in larger volumes, so the same number on the dial delivers a bigger compounding dose to somebody seated for ninety minutes.
Can I use a cheaper machine in the budget showroom?
Only if it is a smaller volume of air. The machine is chosen by cubic volume and air path, never by average ticket. A 2,000 sq ft value showroom needs the same Vaayu at Rs 11,999 that a 2,000 sq ft premium showroom needs, and a 600 sq ft premium studio is honestly served by a Sukoon at Rs 1,899, where a Vaayu would be the wrong buy.
Should the budget showroom use a cheaper fragrance direction?
There is no cheap register and no expensive one. Dry woods, green and herbal, dry tea and clean mineral are right at both ends of the market, and the entire edible shelf is ruled out at both ends too. A value showroom that smells of vanilla reads as a bakery exactly as reliably as a premium one does. Write one register for the business and apply it everywhere.
Will scenting the premium showroom differently improve results there?
No one can promise anything of the kind, at either price point, and I will not. SOSA has run no research that would support a figure, and there is no honest way to separate ambient scent from everything else a customer experiences in a ninety-minute consultation. What you can judge is whether each room's air agrees with its own displays, lighting and price list.

Editorial standards & sources
About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the planning advice applies to any brand.

Facts verified 5 September 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with adjustable intensity, a 400ml refillable tank lasting 90+ days a fill depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and button control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, operation under 38dB at 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, auto-stop and key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS certification, which are electrical and compliance marks and not medical approvals. Being waterless, it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on surfaces or equipment. The SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) is an ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft and is supplied with three 15ml fragrances; the water-based Hotel Collection (₹299 / ₹999 / ₹1,799) is an ultrasonic fragrance and is not a refill for a waterless cold-air machine. SOSA reed diffusers are alcohol-free and phthalate-free, with 50ml lasting about 6-8 weeks and 130ml about 14-18 weeks. Cold-air refill oil for the Vaayu is not currently sold separately - the machine ships with 400ml included and further refills should be confirmed with SOSA. Warranty, annual maintenance, installation and bulk terms are not published and should be confirmed before ordering. Ambient scent is an interior and hospitality decision: it makes no clinical, therapeutic or wellbeing claim, it works alongside proper ventilation, cleaning and infection control and is never a substitute for any of them, it is never used to mask another smell, and no claim is made that fragrance influences a patient's decision or any commercial outcome. Clinical areas including procedure, post-procedure and photography rooms are left unscented, and the treating clinician's judgement overrides any scenting plan in their own room. The hotel-inspired scents are SOSA's own original interpretations; SOSA is an independent brand and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any hotel named for reference. Coverage, fragrance usage and running cost depend on the space, settings and hours of use, and are confirmed on a consultation.
