It should be built from real, named materials, composed by a trained perfumer, made to IFRA safety standards, and chosen in a format that fits your room. The seven-point luxury checklist
After years of composing fragrance, I have learned that "luxury" in the home is far less mysterious than the marketing suggests. It comes down to seven things you can actually verify before you buy.
1. Named materials. A label that says "white tea, bergamot, cedar" tells you more than "luxurious fragrance oils." Vagueness is rarely a sign of quality.
2. A trained perfumer. A balanced composition that opens, settles and dries down well is the work of a trained nose, not a flavour catalogue.
3. IFRA-standard safety. The fragrance industry sets usage limits for a reason. Phthalate-free, IFRA-standard formulation is the floor, not a luxury.
4. Format fit for the room. A diffuser for steady background scent, a candle for evening warmth, reeds for flame-free corners. The right tool beats the priciest one.
5. Honest longevity claims. Beware "lasts forever." A good seller tells you roughly how long, and in what room size.
6. Sensible value. Cost per use, not sticker price. A bottle you refill cheaply can out-value a one-off splurge.
7. A truthful story. If a brand borrows a hotel or a city name, it should say plainly whether it is affiliated or merely inspired.
Notice that none of these require spending a fortune. They require honesty and skill. A scent makes a room feel considered; it does not clean or purify the air, and any seller who claims otherwise has already failed point seven.

I trained as a perfumer at ISIPCA in Versailles, and the one thing every great hotel taught me is that scent is the first thing you notice and the last thing you forget. I wanted to bottle that feeling for the home.
So the Hotel Collection is seven water-based diffuser fragrances, each my own interpretation of the style a famous hotel is known for - composed in our own lab, made to run cleanly through a SOSA ultrasonic diffuser. Please use the SOSA diffuser fragrance only; raw essential or carrier oils are thick and can clog the misting plate.
