When does no machine apply? In most homes under 1,500 sq ft, and in any compartmented home at any size, because a machine cannot cross a closed door.
Why does the reason matter more than the band? Because the reason tells you when your home is the exception. A compartmented 5,000 sq ft house belongs in the no-machine band despite its size.
The recommendation for each band, with the reason
Here is the recommendation for each band, and each one comes with its reason, because the reason is what tells you whether your home is the exception - and a surprising number of homes are. Band one: under about 1,500 square feet. The recommendation is usually no machine at all. The reason is what the calculation leaves. Take the floor area, convert it to volume, subtract every room whose door is normally shut - both or all bedrooms, every bathroom, a study - and subtract the kitchen, which is never scented at any time. What remains in a home this size is one hall, and a reed diffuser serves a hall perfectly well: it distributes evenly in a room of ordinary size, runs three to four months on a bottle, needs no power and keeps no schedule. Four to six bottles finish the whole home for a few thousand rupees, and they carry an underrated advantage - nothing in them can drift upward, because there is no setting for an adapted nose to raise. Band two: roughly 1,500 to 2,000 square feet. The recommendation is a Sukoon at Rs 1,799 for a compact connected core, or a Megh at Rs 3,499 with its 6L tank for a substantial open living-dining. Two reasons combine here. The first is that the connected core has become large enough that serving it evenly with passive sources would take three or four bottles placed apart, and once you are contemplating that, one unit on one schedule becomes sensible rather than indulgent. The second is timing, which is the only capability a bottle genuinely lacks: a machine can be quieter at three in the afternoon and present at seven in the evening when somebody walks in from outside with an unadapted nose, and can build a level before guests arrive. If timing does not matter to you, another bottle is still a legitimate answer at this size. Remember the tank caveat with the Megh: it is refilled every few days and rinsed between scents, and that is the small recurring job that quietly stops being done in a busy household. Band three: 2,500 square feet and above, and genuinely open. The recommendation is the Vaayu at Rs 11,999, and the reason is architectural rather than numerical - which is the single most important thing on this page. Homes of this size are the first band where genuinely open ground plans are common: living running into dining, a passage that is part of the same space, a stairwell opening off it without a door. That is one large body of circulating air, and it is the only condition under which a single device does something no arrangement of bottles matches: serving the whole of it from one point, with one fragrance, one schedule and nothing to fill before an evening or empty afterwards. Verify it rather than assuming - walk the ground floor at an ordinary hour, changing nothing, and count the closed doors between those spaces. Zero qualifies. And be clear about what the money buys: a 3,000 square foot home is roughly 279 square metres against a rating of 1,000, so most of the rating goes unused. You are buying one device instead of eight, waterless operation, and a schedule - not the number on the box. Band four, which cuts across all the others: compartmented at any size. The recommendation is no machine, and it applies to a 1,500 square foot flat and a 5,000 square foot villa identically, because the physics does not change with the size of the building. A machine distributes fragrance through connected moving air and cannot cross a closed door, so a home that lives with its rooms shut has no meaningful connected volume to serve. In that house, eight or sixteen reed diffusers produce a better and more even result than any single device, for a fraction of the money. We say this often because it is often true, and it is a smaller sale we would rather make than have somebody disappointed. Two things that hold in every band. The entrance always takes a permanent passive source, because everybody living in a home has adapted and perceives very little, which makes arrival the only moment anybody experiences the place properly - and it should work whether or not a cycle ran or the power is on. And whatever you buy, set the level once on a day you have just come in from outside, which is the only accurate reading of your own house anybody gets.
By band, with reasons
By band, with reasons. Under about 1,500 sq ft: usually no machine, because the subtractions leave one hall - four to six reed diffusers finish the home, at Morning Freshness Rs 749, Garden Bloom Rs 799, Evening Calm Rs 799, Fresh Brew Rs 849 or Mountain Breeze Rs 849, three to four months per bottle, refills at Rs 2,399 for 300ml and Rs 3,499 for 500ml. Roughly 1,500 to 2,000 sq ft: the SOSA Sukoon at Rs 1,799 for a compact connected core, or the SOSA Megh at Rs 3,499 with a 6L tank for a substantial open living-dining, remembering that a tank is refilled every few days and rinsed between scents. Another bottle remains a legitimate answer here if timing does not matter to you. From about 2,500 sq ft and genuinely open, verified by counting the closed doors between living, dining, passage and stair at an ordinary hour: the SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 - waterless with no tank to fill or empty, coverage up to 1,000 m², Bluetooth app and timer control - bought for one device instead of eight rather than for the rating, since a 3,000 sq ft home is about 279 m² against 1,000. Compartmented at any size, from a 1,500 sq ft flat to a 5,000 sq ft villa: no machine, because none crosses a closed door - eight or sixteen reeds instead, which produce a better and more even result for a fraction of the money. In every band: the entrance takes a permanent passive source, a reed or the SOSA Boond at Rs 799, because arrival is the only moment anybody perceives their own home; every sealed room takes its own reed, with bedrooms at the lightest level from a source the occupant can move or cap; and the level is set once on a day you had just come in from outside. Fragrance for machines: Hotel Collection at Rs 299 for 15ml, Rs 999 for 100ml and Rs 1,799 for 300ml, at three to six drops per tank, rinsing between scents; it is not reed diffuser oil and the two are not interchangeable. Never scented: children's rooms, the kitchen at any time, the dining area during a meal, and covered terraces and balconies. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards.

Versailles
Most customer gifts are bought to be handed over, not to be kept: the sweet box is finished by the family that evening, the keychain joins a drawer, the branded pen was never really a gift at all. Then the moment that cost your business lakhs to create - the new car, the new home, the big purchase - is remembered with nothing. A fragrance gift keeps that moment alive, because scent is the sense wired closest to memory: months later, your customer is still in the middle of the experience you gave them.
I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and everything we make is built for Indian lives - car diffusers that survive a Mumbai summer, reed diffusers that hold through the monsoon, alcohol-free formulas safe to gift across every customer profile. If you run a dealership, a project, a hotel, a showroom or a team, message the bulk desk on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 - tell me the customer moment and the volumes, and I will help you design the programme myself. The business conversations are my favourite kind: one good gifting programme teaches me more about a category than a year of retail orders.
And a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali - so your customer gift quietly gives twice. That equation has always felt right to me.
Frequently asked questions
Facts verified August 2026: Olfactory memory research shows scent-linked memories are unusually durable and emotionally vivid, which is why a used-daily fragrance gift sustains brand association in a way consumable or novelty gifts do not; customer-experience research consistently finds that peak moments (delivery, possession, checkout) disproportionately shape how the whole purchase is remembered. Fragrance preference is personal: volume gifting programmes should default to gentle fresh, green and lightly floral registers, and to space formats (diffusers, reeds, car fragrance) rather than skin perfume. SOSA range: Hotel Collection ultrasonic fragrance from Rs 299; car perfumes from Rs 449 (spray and hanging, alcohol-free); attars Nawaab, Ameeri, Mastani and Adaa from Rs 379 (3ml/6ml/12ml, alcohol-free); Attar Trio from Rs 1,055; perfumes from Rs 499; reed diffusers from Rs 749; Boond Rs 799, Sukoon Rs 1,799 and Megh Rs 3,499 ultrasonic diffusers; SOSA Safar waterless car and travel diffuser Rs 3,999 (rechargeable, three hotel-inspired scents included); SOSA Vaayu waterless scent machine Rs 11,999 (~1000m³, app + timer).
