Why does Delhi need more adjustment than other cities? Because it moves through the widest annual range of any major Indian market, and each condition changes how the same setting reads.
What changes at the entrance? Door behaviour. In winter doors stay shut and the room holds its air; in summer and monsoon the door opens constantly and the air is replaced far faster.
The widest annual swing of any Indian metro, and one setting cannot cover it
Delhi is the most demanding Indian market for fragrance management, not because of anything about the customers or the stores but because of the range the city moves through in a single year. Most fragrance specifications are made once and left, and in Delhi that guarantees the setting will be wrong for two-thirds of the year. Three conditions matter and they behave differently. Dry winter first. Cold dry air carries fragrance less far and clears it more quickly than humid air does, so the medium itself is working against the scheme. At the same time, the entrance door stays closed much more of the time, and a shop that is not exchanging air with the street holds its own air far longer. Those two effects pull in opposite directions - faster clearing, slower replacement - and the net result varies by store, which is why the honest instruction for winter is to measure rather than to assume: have somebody walk in from the street with a fresh nose at the busiest hour and read the first three or four seconds, and set from that. Hot summer next. Warm air carries fragrance further and reads it heavier, so a setting that was correct in February will read stronger in May with nothing having changed except the temperature. Cooling runs hard and continuously, which improves distribution across a large floor but also means the room's circulation is being driven by the air conditioning rather than by anything else - so placement in the path of that air matters more than in a mild month. And the entrance is a permanent exchange point, swapping conditioned air for hot outside air every time it opens. Monsoon third, and this is where the level should be lowest. Humid air carries fragrance more slowly and clears it less readily, so the same setting reads thicker than at any other time of year. A level judged well in January will be a complaint in July with nothing changed but the weather. The instruction that follows is simple, takes two minutes per unit, and is almost never carried out: schedule the level three times a year rather than setting it once. Down for the monsoon, moderate for the summer, and set by measurement for the winter. The register does not change at any point - only the intensity moves. That distinction matters, because seasonal changes of register destroy the consistency that gives a scheme any value, while seasonal changes of level are simply correct maintenance. On the register itself, Delhi's premium jewellery market includes a great many warm gold-led showrooms, and Old-World Glamour, with amber, violet and woods, genuinely belongs in those - a large warm room with height is one of the few settings where its richness carries easily, and it extends the materials rather than contradicting them. Quiet Luxury, with white tea, bergamot and cedar, is the safe general answer and works in any Delhi store. Forest Suite, with cedarwood, vetiver and green leaves, suits a timber-led interior. White Tea Serenity, with white tea, aloe and cedar, is the softest and belongs in consultation cabins where people sit for an hour. Warm Welcome, with citrus, floral and sandalwood, is an entrance register; Tea Garden, with jasmine, green tea and white tea, is a soft green-floral; and Lobby Bar, with citrus, pepper and amber, is characterful and suits circulation. Whatever is chosen, keep it constant across the year and across every branch, and vary only the level. There is one thing we want to be explicit about for this market, because it is asked and because a dishonest answer would be easy to give. We make no claims whatsoever about air quality. Fragrance is not filtration, it does not clean air, and it should never be presented to a customer or specified internally as though it does anything of the kind. If a store has an air-quality concern, that is a question for filtration and ventilation equipment and for whoever maintains the building's systems, not for a fragrance supplier. And more generally: anything that smells wrong is fixed at its source, because fragrance combines with an existing smell rather than masking it and the combination is reliably worse than either alone. That applies to a pantry, a washroom, an unserviced air conditioner, damp, or air arriving from outside. There is a related seasonal point that is practical rather than promotional: in winter, Delhi stores tend to keep doors closed and run less fresh-air exchange, which means anything unpleasant inside the building accumulates rather than being flushed. So the pre-winter check on sources matters more here than in a city where doors are open all year. The pantry is never scented at any time, since cooking smell is aerosolised oil and extraction is the answer; the washroom needs a working extract; and the air conditioning should be serviced before both the summer and the winter runs rather than once a year. On specification, count zones before choosing hardware, because a machine distributes through connected moving air and cannot cross a closed door. Delhi and the wider NCR market includes a lot of large-format showrooms, often over more than one floor, and two things follow: the zone count is usually higher than owners expect once cabins, offices and lobbies are counted, and an open staircase acts as a chimney, since warm air rises, so an upper floor usually receives the ground floor's air continuously and needs less of its own than expected - measure it with a fresh nose before buying anything for it. The Megh at Rs 3,499 with its 6L tank suits a substantial floor; the Sukoon at Rs 1,799 a compact floor or a large cabin; the Boond at Rs 799 a small room; and the Vaayu at Rs 11,999 a large open showroom - waterless with no tank at all, coverage up to 1,000 square metres or roughly 10,700 square feet, with Bluetooth app and timer control, which in Delhi is the practical mechanism that makes three scheduled settings a year realistic rather than aspirational. Reeds at Rs 749 to Rs 849 suit rooms behind doors, three to four months from a bottle, refills at Rs 2,399 for 300ml and Rs 3,499 for 500ml; note that reed output rises with warmth and falls with cold, so a heavily cooled summer room and a cold winter room both reduce their output, and reeds cannot be adjusted to compensate, which is another reason machines carry the seasonal management. Machines take the water-based Hotel Collection at three to six drops per tank with a rinse between scents, never reed oil, which can damage them. Keep rooms behind doors lower than the floor, because intensity runs inversely to exposure time; run continuously rather than in bursts; and name one person and one day for filling and checking, because hardware nobody owns fails around month four and nobody notices, everybody inside having adapted within about an hour of arriving. Staff quarters and utility areas get nothing, and staff should have a physical off switch and never have to justify using it. We make no claim that fragrance affects mood, comfort, dwell time, purchase behaviour or spend. The seven registers are Rs 299 for 15ml, Rs 999 for 100ml and Rs 1,799 for 300ml, and they are SOSA's own interpretations - we are independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by or associated with any hotel brand. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Dry winters, hot summers, a monsoon - three different rooms
Delhi is the most demanding Indian market for fragrance management, because of the range the city moves through in one year. Three conditions matter. Dry winter: cold dry air carries fragrance less far and clears it more quickly, while the entrance stays closed much more, so the shop holds its own air longer - faster clearing and slower replacement pulling in opposite directions, which is why the honest winter instruction is to measure rather than assume, with somebody walking in from the street at the busiest hour and reading the first three seconds. Hot summer: warm air carries fragrance further and reads it heavier, so a February setting reads stronger in May with nothing changed but the temperature; cooling runs hard, which improves distribution but means the circulation is being driven by the air conditioning, making placement in that path matter more; and the entrance swaps conditioned air for hot outside air constantly. Monsoon: humid air carries slowly and clears badly, so the same setting reads thickest of all and the level should be lowest. The instruction that follows takes two minutes per unit and is almost never carried out - schedule the level three times a year rather than setting it once. The register never changes; only the intensity moves, and that distinction matters, since seasonal changes of register destroy consistency while seasonal changes of level are correct maintenance. On register, Delhi's market includes many warm gold-led showrooms, and Old-World Glamour genuinely belongs in those - a large warm room with height is one of the few places its richness carries easily. Quiet Luxury is the safe general answer; Forest Suite suits timber; White Tea Serenity belongs in cabins. One thing we are explicit about here: we make no claims whatsoever about air quality. Fragrance is not filtration, does not clean air, and must never be specified as though it does - that is a question for filtration and ventilation equipment and whoever maintains the building. Anything that smells wrong is fixed at its source, because fragrance combines with a smell rather than masking it. A practical seasonal note: in winter Delhi stores keep doors closed and run less fresh-air exchange, so anything unpleasant inside accumulates rather than being flushed, making the pre-winter source check more important than in a city with doors open all year. Delhi and NCR also have many large-format multi-floor showrooms, where the zone count is higher than owners expect and an open staircase acts as a chimney, so an upper floor usually needs less than expected. SOSA Megh Rs 3,499, SOSA Sukoon Rs 1,799, SOSA Boond Rs 799, SOSA Vaayu Rs 11,999 with coverage to 1,000 m² and timer control, reeds from Rs 749 whose output falls in both a cooled summer room and a cold winter one. From Rs 299 for 15ml. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards. Volume pricing is quoted on WhatsApp.

Versailles
Most customer gifts are bought to be handed over, not to be kept: the sweet box is finished by the family that evening, the keychain joins a drawer, the branded pen was never really a gift at all. Then the moment that cost your business lakhs to create - the new car, the new home, the big purchase - is remembered with nothing. A fragrance gift keeps that moment alive, because scent is the sense wired closest to memory: months later, your customer is still in the middle of the experience you gave them.
I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and everything we make is built for Indian lives - car diffusers that survive a Mumbai summer, reed diffusers that hold through the monsoon, alcohol-free formulas safe to gift across every customer profile. If you run a dealership, a project, a hotel, a showroom or a team, message the bulk desk on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 - tell me the customer moment and the volumes, and I will help you design the programme myself. The business conversations are my favourite kind: one good gifting programme teaches me more about a category than a year of retail orders.
And a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali - so your customer gift quietly gives twice. That equation has always felt right to me.
Frequently asked questions
Facts verified August 2026: Olfactory memory research shows scent-linked memories are unusually durable and emotionally vivid, which is why a used-daily fragrance gift sustains brand association in a way consumable or novelty gifts do not; customer-experience research consistently finds that peak moments (delivery, possession, checkout) disproportionately shape how the whole purchase is remembered. Fragrance preference is personal: volume gifting programmes should default to gentle fresh, green and lightly floral registers, and to space formats (diffusers, reeds, car fragrance) rather than skin perfume. SOSA range: Hotel Collection ultrasonic fragrance from Rs 299; car perfumes from Rs 449 (spray and hanging, alcohol-free); attars Nawaab, Ameeri, Mastani and Adaa from Rs 379 (3ml/6ml/12ml, alcohol-free); Attar Trio from Rs 1,055; perfumes from Rs 499; reed diffusers from Rs 749; Boond Rs 799, Sukoon Rs 1,799 and Megh Rs 3,499 ultrasonic diffusers; SOSA Safar waterless car and travel diffuser Rs 3,999 (rechargeable, three hotel-inspired scents included); SOSA Vaayu waterless scent machine Rs 11,999 (~1000m³, app + timer). Listed prices are per-unit store prices; volume pricing and branding are quoted on WhatsApp. The Hotel Collection and hotel-inspired scents are SOSA's own interpretations; SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel or perfume house named for comparison.
