Buying decor here is risky for a reason worth naming, because naming it also tells you where to look instead. For twelve months somebody was paid to hold one opinion across every surface in that home - and an opinion held that consistently is exactly what a stray object breaks. So the instinct that says do not buy them a bowl is correct. The better question is which layers a designer's remit actually ends before, because one of them is still genuinely open and it is not a compromise.
The layer a twelve-month remit never covered, in machine form. SOSA Vaayu, ₹11,999 - waterless cold-air diffusion producing a dry residue-free mist with no water and no heat, published for up to 1000 m3, about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, with a 400ml tank, app and button control, 1, 4, 8 or 24-hour run windows, adjustable intensity and operation under 38 dB. Four 100 ml fragrances are in the box.
Quick answers — read this first
Is it safe to buy decor for a home an interior designer just finished? Usually not, and the reason is structural rather than about your taste. A designer's work is a single held opinion across every surface, so an object arriving from outside it has to either match that opinion or sit against it. SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 is the other route: a waterless cold-air scent machine published for up to 1000 m3, about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, which adds a layer that occupies no surface at all.
Was scent really not part of the design work? Nobody is retained for it. An interior designer specifies finishes, joinery, furniture and soft furnishing; a lighting consultant resolves the evening; a landscape designer takes the outside. No discipline owns what a home smells like, which is why adding one now cannot read as a correction of anybody's twelve months.
What if their flat is a set of separate rooms rather than one open floor? Then the machine is the wrong shape of answer. A coverage figure assumes one connected body of air, so it describes an open living-dining floor rather than a corridor with six closed doors. In that home a reed diffuser from ₹749 in each of the rooms that matter is the honest and cheaper answer.
The short answer
Short answer: Scent. A designer's remit ends at surfaces, joinery, furniture, lighting and soft furnishing, and no discipline owns what a home smells like, so adding that layer corrects nobody. SOSA Vaayu is Rs 11,999 for up to about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, under 38 dB, and it comes with four 100 ml fragrances.
The pick: A SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 where the main floor is one open volume - otherwise reed diffusers from ₹749, taken one room at a time.
Why: It occupies no surface in a scheme somebody held for twelve months, it runs under 38 dB, it is scheduled rather than always on, and it is complete in the box with four 100 ml fragrances.
A gift cannot change how somebody's week went, and a page that suggests otherwise is not worth reading. What a small parcel does is tell a person you were thinking about them on a day when nothing made you - which is a real thing to say, and worth saying. Keep it small, because a large one asks somebody already short of energy to produce a reaction, and send the words separately, because the object cannot carry them.
Is scent the one gift that is still open after a year of working with an interior designer?
Yes, and the reason is worth understanding before you spend anything. A designer's remit has edges. It covers finishes, joinery, furniture, upholstery, rugs, blinds, hardware and the arrangement of all of it; a lighting consultant usually takes the evening; somebody else takes the planting. Then the list stops - because no discipline owns what a home smells like, and no line item was ever written for it. That is why a scent added now is not a second opinion on anybody's work. It is the one layer that never had a first. SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 is the machine version of that layer: waterless cold-air diffusion, a dry residue-free mist with no water and no heat, published for up to 1000 m3, stated on the page as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, with a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app and onboard buttons, run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours with day scheduling and adjustable intensity, operation under 38 dB, and a DC 12V / 1A, 5W supply. It measures 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm at 0.9 kg, comes in black or white, stands freestanding or goes on a wall or HVAC mount, carries CE, RoHS and SGS marks, has India as its country of origin, and ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances of 100 ml each. Two honest limits. A coverage figure assumes one connected body of air, so it suits an open main floor rather than a flat of closed rooms. And fragrance adds a scent to a space - it does not remove, neutralise or purify one, and the residue-free mist is a statement about residue on surfaces rather than about air quality. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The designer's drawings stop at a boundary. Stand on the far side of it and there is one layer with nobody's name on it, which is the only place a gift can go without arguing.
Where this page lands: Vaayu at ₹11,999 if the main floor is one open volume - about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, under 38 dB, four 100 ml fragrances supplied with it.
What the designer's remit covered, and the one line that was never on it
Three things settle this. The first is a scope question, the second needs you to walk the flat rather than read a number, and the third is a short list of published details plus an honest list of what is not published at all.
1
The scope question
What a twelve-month remit actually covered
Write out what a designer was engaged to resolve and the gift problem solves itself. Floor and wall finishes. Joinery and its hardware. Furniture, upholstery, rugs, curtains and blinds. Sanitaryware and taps. Often the art wall, often the crockery, sometimes the bedlinen. A lighting consultant takes the circuits and the evening scheme. Somebody else takes the terrace planting.
Every one of those had a person holding an opinion about it for a year, and that is precisely what makes decor dangerous as a gift. You are not being judged against your taste. You are being judged against a held position, and an object from outside it either matches or it does not, with nothing in between.
Now look for a layer the list does not contain. There is one. Nobody was retained to decide what the home smells like - not the designer, not the lighting consultant, not the contractor. It is not an oversight, it is simply not a discipline anybody bills for. Which means a scent added now is not an amendment to a drawing. There was no drawing.
Tip: Decor is judged against a held position. Scent is judged against nothing, because nothing was held.
2
The volume question
How much of the flat is genuinely one body of air?
This decides between a machine and bottles, and total floor area will mislead you. Vaayu publishes a coverage figure, which is unusual in home fragrance at all: up to 1000 m3, stated on the product page as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. Read the sentence underneath it rather than the number. A rating assumes one connected body of air.
So the test is physical. Stand at the entrance and look. If the hall runs into a living area that runs into dining with nothing closed between them, that is one volume, and it is the case the figure describes - it is also the case a small passive bottle cannot serve, because it scents the couple of metres around itself.
If instead the home is a corridor with bedroom doors that stay shut, the total square footage is not the relevant number at all. That is five or six separate volumes, and the honest answer is reed diffusers from ₹749 or a duo set from ₹1,498 placed in the two or three rooms people actually sit in. Cheaper, and correct. Note also that no guidance is published on what a second machine adds, so a connected floor larger than the published figure is a conversation on WhatsApp rather than an arithmetic problem.
3
The published detail
Quiet, scheduled, complete - and three things nobody publishes
It is quiet, which matters more in a designed flat than anywhere else. Operation is published as under 38 dB. A machine that hums audibly in a room somebody spent a year resolving would undo the room, and that is a published figure rather than a hope.
It runs when you tell it to. Control is by Bluetooth app or the buttons on the unit, with run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, chosen days, adjustable intensity, plus auto-stop and a key-lock. And it is complete on the day it turns up: every unit ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each. Afterwards, SOSA waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 gm and ₹1,849 for 300 gm. It takes alcohol-free, water-free oil made for cold-air diffusion; the water-based bottles on the site belong to the ultrasonic machines and are a different fluid for a different device.
And what is not published, which you should know before you buy rather than after. The page states the life of one 400ml fill two different ways - about 75 days in its specification data and 90 or more in its body copy - and it depends on intensity and scheduled hours in any case. There is also no warranty period, no installation service, no running cost figure and no app or connection detail published anywhere. Ask on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 rather than assuming.
Tip: Ask what one fill actually lasts. The page answers that question twice and the two answers differ.
Read the number strictly, not generously
About 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft - of air that is actually connected
Vaayu publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing in home fragrance does: up to 1000 m3, stated as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. The caveat matters more than the number. A rating assumes one connected body of air. A ground floor that runs living into dining into a stairwell is one volume and is exactly what the figure describes. A bungalow of the same total area with six closed doors is not one volume, it is six rooms, and the figure does not transfer. Work out how much of the house is genuinely open before you work out anything else - and note that no guidance is published on what a second unit adds.
Ten minutes, and most of it is spent standing in the hall looking
Write down what the designer was engaged to resolve. Scent will not be on it.
Stand at the entrance and see how far you can look with no door shut.
One open volume means the machine. Separate rooms mean reeds from Rs 749.
Ask on WhatsApp what one 400ml fill lasts before planning around a number.
The SOSA principle
A remit is a list, and every list has an end. Finishes, joinery, furniture, lighting and planting all had somebody holding an opinion for twelve months. What a home smells like had nobody, because it is not a discipline anybody is engaged for - and that is the only reason a gift can be added to a finished scheme without reading as an edit to it.
Understanding that before you compare products is what stops the decision becoming a price decision, because it explains why a ₹749 bottle in the right room can be a better gift than a machine in the wrong one.
Which four-scent set, what comes with it, and what it runs on
There are three published four-scent sets and all three are the same ₹11,999, so nothing here is a budget decision. One pairs Ritz-Carlton with Westin, St. Regis and 1 Hotels inspirations; one pairs Westin with Shangri-La, Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton; the third pairs St. Regis with W Hotels, 1 Hotels and Four Seasons. Say plainly what they are: SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations, composed by SOSA, and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. There is a real argument to have with yourself here. Somebody who has just spent a year making a home look like nowhere else may not want it to smell like a lobby, and the hotel register is a strong register. The reason the sets still work as a gift is that four bottles of 100 ml means the choice lands with them rather than with you - they run one, leave three, and the decision stays theirs. If none of the four suits, the waterless nebuliser oils at ₹1,049 for 100 gm make that a small correction instead of an expensive one.
The SOSA gift edit
Four ways to spend this, and the point at which each one stops working
The option
Who it suits, and where it fails
SOSA Vaayu · ₹11,999
Up to about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, under 38 dB, app-scheduled in 1, 4, 8 or 24-hour windows, complete in the box with four 100 ml fragrances. It stops working in a flat of closed rooms, where the coverage figure simply does not describe the space - and it stops working if nobody will ever open the app.
A reed duo set · ₹1,498 to ₹2,598
Two bottles in one box, about 6 to 10 weeks, nothing to plug in and nothing to schedule. Correct for a flat that is really a set of separate rooms, and for a household that will not operate anything. It stops working in a large open volume, where a passive bottle reaches the area immediately around it.
A single reed diffuser · ₹749 to ₹1,349
The honest small gift, and genuinely right for one room - an entrance, a study, a guest room. Only three duo pairings exist and none is composed to order, so a single bottle is also the way to choose a specific scent. It stops working the moment it is asked to cover a floor three sizes larger.
An object for the scheme · any price
A vase, a tray, a sculpture, a cushion. It enters a visual position somebody held for a year, has to be displayed to be appreciated, and is read against every other decision in the room the second it lands. It works only if you know that position as well as the person who was paid to hold it.
The two details that matter in a finished house
Under 38 dB, and it runs only when you tell it to
Two published details decide whether this belongs in a house somebody spent years on. It runs under 38 dB, which is the answer to the reasonable worry about a machine humming in a double-height living room. And it is scheduled: Bluetooth app plus onboard buttons, run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, chosen days and adjustable intensity, with auto-stop and a key-lock. That is what makes it workable in a house occupied for part of the year, or a room used only when people come over. It is 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, and it ships with four 100 ml fragrances - so it is complete on the day it arrives.
One note on scale, because a finished flat tempts people upward. SOSA Meenar at ₹38,500 is published for 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft and is a commercial machine - a hotel lobby, a showroom, a corporate floor. For a home it is not the more generous choice, it is the wrong one, and it would look like it. Below Vaayu, the ultrasonic machines - Boond at ₹899, Sukoon at ₹1,899 and Megh at ₹5,999 - are water-based, suit one room, and need water and regular refilling, which is a weekly ask of somebody who did not choose them. SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 is portable and cordless: it travels with a person to a car or a hotel room rather than scenting a property, and it is imported rather than made in India. And attars from ₹379 are worn rather than placed, which makes them a gift about the person and not about the home at all.
₹11,999. Up to 1000 m3, stated as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected volume. A 400ml tank, Bluetooth app plus onboard buttons, 1h/4h/8h/24h run windows and adjustable intensity. Under 38 dB.
165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, in black or white, freestanding on a surface or wall and HVAC mounted. DC 12V / 1A at 5W, with auto-stop and a key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS marks.
Every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, in one of three published four-scent sets. So it is complete on arrival, which matters more for a gift than it sounds.
four x 100 ml included
The number this whole decision turns on, and where it stops being true
Up to 1000 m3 - about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft - of connected air
SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing else in home fragrance does: up to 1000 m3, stated on the product page as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. It is a waterless cold-air machine producing a dry, residue-free mist with no water and no heat, running under 38 dB on DC 12V / 1A at 5W, with a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app and onboard button control, run windows of 1h, 4h, 8h or 24h, day scheduling and adjustable intensity, plus auto-stop and a key-lock. It is 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, in black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, CE, RoHS and SGS marked, and its country of origin is India. But a coverage rating assumes one connected body of air. That figure describes an open-plan living-dining floor, a duplex's main level, a double-height hall - the kind of volume a small passive bottle cannot reach. It does not describe a bungalow with every internal door closed, because that is not one volume; it is six. Above about 3,000 sq ft of genuinely connected space, or across separated wings, the honest answer is a conversation rather than a number, because no multi-unit guidance is published. SOSA Meenar at ₹38,500 is published for 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft and is a commercial machine rather than a house gift.
Tell SOSA who it is for, roughly how big the room is, whether their home is already scented and what you want to spend - and you will be told which size and which scent, including the times the honest answer is the 50ml rather than the 130ml.
Somebody was paid for twelve months to hold one opinion across every surface in that home. The one thing they were never asked to have an opinion about is the only thing you can safely add.
— Sonal Sahani, SOSA
The SOSA gifting range
Two questions settle almost every reed diffuser gift, and the first one is not price. How big is the room it is going into? A 50ml suits a bedroom, a study, a hallway or a first diffuser; a 130ml suits an open-plan living and dining area, and it is genuinely too much for a small closed bedroom. Then: how much do you actually know about their taste? The less you know, the less declarative the scent should be - Morning Freshness is the safest of the five for a home you have never stood in, and Fresh Brew coffee-vanilla is the strongest opinion in the range. Price follows those two answers rather than leading them.
The SOSA range, sorted by how much air it is meant to handle
Up to 1000 m3, stated as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected volume - a 400ml tank, Bluetooth app and onboard buttons, 1h/4h/8h/24h scheduling, adjustable intensity, under 38 dB
Worn on the body rather than placed in a room - the right answer when the gift is about the person and not the house
from ₹379
A coverage rating assumes one connected body of air. Vaayu's figure describes an open-plan volume - a living-dining floor, a duplex's main level, a double-height hall. A house with every internal door shut is not one volume, and the figure does not transfer to it. Every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, and its country of origin is India. Fragrance adds a scent to a space; it does not remove, neutralise or purify one, and the dry residue-free mist is a statement about residue rather than about air quality. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and quantities are settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

What the Vaayu page publishes, and what it does not
Everything below is on the live product page. Anything not on this list is not something a page like this should state.
The machine - waterless cold-air diffusion, dry and residue-free, no water and no heat. 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm, 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted. DC 12V / 1A, 5W. Under 38 dB. Auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS. Country of origin India.
Control - a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app plus onboard buttons, run windows of 1h, 4h, 8h or 24h, day scheduling and adjustable intensity. This is what makes it workable in a house that is empty for stretches, or a room used only at weekends.
In the box - every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, in one of three published four-scent sets, all at ₹11,999. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand.
The fragrance - alcohol-free, water-free oils formulated for cold-air diffusion. SOSA waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 gm and ₹1,849 for 300 gm and are published for Vaayu and Safar. The water-based ultrasonic bottles belong to a different kind of machine.
Not published, and therefore never stated here: how long a 400ml fill lasts as a single figure - the page says about 75 days in one place and 90 or more in another; what a second unit adds; any warranty period, service interval or filter; any installation service; any app name, phone compatibility or Bluetooth range; and any running or electricity cost. Those go to WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
Not sure whether the house needs a machine or a bottle? Tell SOSA on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 four things: roughly how much of the ground floor is one connected open volume, whether the internal doors stay open or shut, how often the house is actually occupied, and what you want to spend. You will get one straight answer rather than a catalogue - including the times the honest answer is a reed diffuser from ₹749 or a duo set from ₹1,498 rather than a machine. What is not on this page, because SOSA does not publish it: what a second unit adds, any warranty period, any installation service, any running or electricity cost, and any app or Bluetooth compatibility detail. One thing to check before you buy: the Vaayu page states the life of a 400ml fill two different ways - about 75 days in one place and 90 or more in another - and it depends on intensity and scheduled hours in any case, so ask rather than plan around a number. Every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each; SOSA waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 gm and ₹1,849 for 300 gm. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; quantities and anything commercial are settled on WhatsApp rather than priced on a page. Bespoke composition, a fragrance composed for you by Sonal, is a real SOSA service and is also discussed there. Where SOSA is: an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India, with no shop, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city.

A note from Sonal
The messages I find hardest to answer are the ones that begin with an apology. They have just finished building the house. I don't want to sound cheap, but I also can't buy them anything that matters at that scale. And underneath it is a real anxiety: that after years of drawings and delays and site visits, whatever you turn up with will look like a token.
What I would say is that the anxiety is aimed at the wrong thing. You are not competing with the house. Nobody is. The people who built it spent two years choosing between four shades of the same stone, and there is no object you can hand over that will register on that scale. Trying is how people end up buying a vase that gets moved to a spare room.
The reason I keep coming back to scent for these particular houses is unromantic. It is the last layer, and it is the only one nobody planned. An architect resolves the volume, a designer resolves the surfaces, a lighting consultant resolves the evening, and then everybody stops - because scent is not on anybody's drawing. So it is one of the few things left that adds to a finished house without arguing with a single decision already made in it.
The part I would be careful about is the number. Vaayu publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing in home fragrance does, and I would rather you read it strictly than generously. About 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, of air that is actually connected. A ground floor that opens living into dining into a stairwell is that. A bungalow with six closed doors is not that, whatever its total square footage says on paper, and a page that blurs the two is doing you no favours.
Frequently asked questions
How much space does SOSA Vaayu actually cover?
The published figure is up to 1000 cubic metres, stated on the product page as approximately 2,000 to 3,000 square feet. Read it as one connected body of air rather than as a total floor area - it describes an open living-dining floor or a double-height hall, not a flat whose bedrooms sit behind closed doors. No guidance is published on what a second unit would add.
Will it be audible in a room somebody spent a year designing?
It is published as operating under 38 dB. It also does not run continuously unless it is told to: control is by Bluetooth app or by the buttons on the unit, with run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, chosen days and adjustable intensity, plus auto-stop and a key-lock. No app name, phone compatibility or connection range is published, so none is stated here.
Does it come with fragrance or is that a separate purchase?
It comes with fragrance. Every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances of 100 ml each, in one of three published four-scent sets, all at the same Rs 11,999. Afterwards SOSA waterless nebuliser refills are Rs 1,049 for 100 gm and Rs 1,849 for 300 gm. It takes alcohol-free, water-free oil made for cold-air diffusion.
How often will the tank need refilling?
The tank is 400 ml and refillable, and the product page states its life two different ways - about 75 days in its specification data and 90 or more days in its body copy - so no single figure is given here. It depends on the intensity setting and the scheduled hours in any case. Ask SOSA on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 rather than planning around a number.
Can it deal with a lingering smell from recent building work?
No, and it is better to know that first. Fragrance adds a scent to a space; it does not remove, neutralise or mask anything, it does not clean the air, and no health or antibacterial claim is made. A room that still carries paint or polish needs ventilation and time. The dry, residue-free mist is a statement about residue on surfaces, not about air quality.

About the coverage figure: a rating assumes one connected body of air. The published figure describes an open-plan volume such as a living-dining floor, a duplex's main level or a double-height hall, and does not describe a property whose rooms are separated by closed doors, whatever its total floor area. No guidance is published on what a second unit adds. About tank life: the Vaayu product page states the life of one 400 ml fill in two different ways - approximately 75 days in its specification and FAQ data, and 90 or more days in its body copy - and in either case it depends on the intensity setting and the scheduled hours, so no single figure is stated on this page. What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any warranty period, service interval or filter; any installation service; any app name, phone compatibility or Bluetooth range; any running or electricity cost; and any multi-unit coverage. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a space. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify odour, it does not clean the air, and no SOSA product makes any health, antibacterial or air-purifying claim; a dry residue-free mist is a statement about residue and not about air quality. No claim is made anywhere on this page about mood, stress, calm, sleep or wellbeing, nor about how any recipient or guest will feel, nor about what a gift does for any business result. No page here characterises any recipient's wealth or describes people who own particular kinds of property; where a property value appears it is the figure the reader themselves supplied as context. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city.
