The other four answers: Mountain Breeze ₹849 for a difficult recipient · Morning Freshness ₹749 for kitchens and desks · Boond ₹899 for someone who wants the controls · jar candle two-pack ₹664 for anyone at all, including a boss.
The ladder in one line: under ₹500 — candles ₹379–₹449, wax melts ₹474, 3ml attar ₹379–₹399, no reed and no machine. ₹500–₹1,000 — the reed line opens at ₹749 and the Boond at ₹899. ₹1,000–₹1,500 — 130ml reed ₹1,249–₹1,349, 12ml attar ₹1,149–₹1,199. ₹1,500–₹2,000 — duos ₹1,498–₹1,598, Sukoon ₹1,899.
Every gap, in one place: no reed under ₹749 · no machine under ₹899 · no gift card · no gift wrap, note or personalisation · no hamper, gift box or curated set · no room spray, only car perfume · no oud, sandalwood, vetiver or amber reed · no hotel-inspired reed · no verified corporate or bulk gifting programme. The 15ml Hotel Collection oil at ₹299 is a refill for an ultrasonic machine and is never a gift on its own.
2. Let how well you know them choose the scent. Barely at all — Evening Calm ₹799. Famously impossible — Mountain Breeze ₹849, because a dry wood is the least sweet and least gendered register there is. They work from home — Morning Freshness ₹749. You know they like flowers — Garden Bloom ₹799. They take coffee seriously — Fresh Brew ₹849, and only then, because at 9.5 it is the least safe blind buy in the range.
3. Change format only for a stated reason. They love lighting things — a jar candle two-pack ₹664, message-free and safe in any relationship. They already own reeds — the Boond ₹899, a 300ml ultrasonic machine with three 15ml scents included. They wear fragrance rather than scenting rooms — a 6ml attar ₹669–₹699, which is a gift to a body and therefore only for family and close friends.
4. Treat the budget as a ceiling and not a target. Nobody searching under ₹1,000 is trying to spend ₹999; they are trying not to be embarrassed. At ₹449 the Smoked Oudh and Sandalwood candles are the best value in the catalogue and no apology is required for either.
5. Know what does not exist before you plan around it. No reed under ₹749, no machine under ₹899, no gift card, no hamper, no curated set, no room spray, no oud or sandalwood reed, no hotel-inspired reed, and nothing verified about wrapping, notes, personalisation or delivery timing. Free shipping above ₹499 is the only logistics fact I will state.
Alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free, IFRA-compliant, 0 ppm formaldehyde. Composed in Pune. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The three decisions that settle every gift in this band
Nine other pages in this series take one question each and go deep on it. This one exists to hold the method, and the method is short: three decisions, taken in order, reduce a catalogue to a single item. None of them requires you to know the recipient's favourite note, which is fortunate, because almost nobody does. They require you to know what your budget makes possible, how close you are to the person, and what you want the gift to leave behind.
Morning Freshness₹749The single most important fact in this guide is a boundary: the reed line begins at ₹749 and the cheapest machine is ₹899. Below that, neither format exists at SOSA, and the reason is physical rather than commercial — 50ml of composed oil, a glass bottle and six fibre reeds cannot be made for less without moving the carrier from heat-stable CCT to DPG, which cracks above about 40°C and turns a fragrance bitter in an Indian summer. So a ₹1,000 ceiling is not simply a bigger version of a ₹500 one; it is a different catalogue, and Morning Freshness at ₹749 is the door.
Mountain Breeze₹849Distance decides two things: how distinctive a scent is permissible, and whether the gift may address the body at all. Far away — a colleague, a friend's mother, somebody met three times — means a room and a soft register: Evening Calm ₹799, or the message-free candle two-pack ₹664. Middle distance, or a recipient nobody can buy for, means Mountain Breeze ₹849, dry and unsweetened and the least gendered thing in the catalogue. Close means you may risk a distinctive composition or a personal fragrance — Fresh Brew ₹849 for the coffee drinker, a 6ml attar ₹669–₹699 for someone whose skin you are entitled to think about.
Garden Bloom₹799A 50ml reed runs 6–8 weeks and then there is nothing left, which people hear as a drawback and which I regard as the strongest argument for it. A permanent gift that misses becomes a permanent obligation — housed, dusted, defended at every clear-out and never disposed of, because throwing away a gift is a small unkindness most people will not commit. The Boond at ₹899 is the only permanent item in this band and it is excellent for somebody who wanted a machine; for somebody who did not, it is an appliance they now own. Garden Bloom at ₹799 and every other bottle here ends politely and leaves the decision to buy again with the recipient.
The ladder, rung by rung — and where ₹1,000 sits on it
Under ₹500 — the courtesy rung. Real gifts, honestly described as small ones. A hand-poured 80g jar candle at ₹379 in Bookshop, Cozy Corner, Misty Mornings or Evening Walks. The single-scent Sandalwood and Smoked Oudh candles at ₹449, which are the best value in the whole catalogue. Wax melts at ₹474, unscented bubble candles at ₹474, car perfume at ₹449–₹509, a 3ml attar at ₹379–₹399, solid body perfume at ₹459–₹489. No reed diffuser and no machine exist on this rung, and any guide that says otherwise is describing a product that is not in our catalogue. One practical note: a single candle priced below ₹499 does not clear free shipping on its own.
₹500–₹1,000 — the considered rung, and the subject of this guide. Everything opens up. The full reed line in 50ml: Morning Freshness ₹749, Evening Calm ₹799, Garden Bloom ₹799, Mountain Breeze ₹849, Fresh Brew ₹849, each with six fibre reeds in a refillable glass bottle and 6–8 weeks of running. The Boond ultrasonic machine at ₹899. A jar candle two-pack at ₹664, taper candles at ₹569, a woodenwick at ₹949, and 6ml attars at ₹669–₹699. This is the only rung on the ladder where all four fragrance formats are simultaneously affordable, which is why it is the most useful budget in the range and why this family of guides is the largest.
₹1,000–₹1,500 — the substantial rung. The 130ml reed at ₹1,249–₹1,349, which suits rooms above 150 sq ft and runs 14–18 weeks; a 12ml attar at ₹1,149–₹1,199; the 3ml attar trio at ₹1,055. ₹1,500–₹2,000 — the premium rung. The reed duos — Day & Night ₹1,498, Fresh & Grounded ₹1,548, Warmth & Bloom ₹1,598 — which are two 50ml bottles rather than a boxed set, and which hedge beautifully because the recipient keeps the one they prefer; and the Sukoon machine at ₹1,899, 500ml and 270–320 sq ft. Above that sit the 130ml duos at ₹2,498–₹2,598 and the larger machines. None of it is necessary. A ₹799 bottle in the right room outperforms a ₹2,598 duo in the wrong house, every time.
Every SOSA product under ₹1,000, compared
The complete comparison, which is the table this family of guides exists to produce. Format, price, what the recipient has to do, how long the gift is actually happening, and how safely it can be handed to somebody whose taste you only half know.
| Product | Price | Format | What it asks of them | How long it lasts | How safe as a blind gift |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Evening Calm 50ml ★ | ₹799 | Reed · 8.9 | Nothing | 6–8 weeks | Safest in the catalogue — no polarisation, no loading |
| Mountain Breeze 50ml | ₹849 | Reed · 9.4 | Nothing | 6–8 weeks | Very safe — least sweet, least gendered register |
| Morning Freshness 50ml | ₹749 | Reed · 9.0 | Nothing | 6–8 weeks | Safe — bright and clean; the only one I would put in a kitchen |
| Garden Bloom 50ml | ₹799 | Reed · 8.9 | Nothing | 6–8 weeks | Not a blind buy — anti-floral is common and firmly held |
| Fresh Brew 50ml | ₹849 | Reed · 9.5 | Nothing | 6–8 weeks | Least safe blind buy — superb only for a coffee drinker |
| Boond ultrasonic diffuser | ₹899 | Machine · 300ml | A socket or USB, water, a switch | Years · ~6h a fill, ~150 sq ft | Safe if they wanted a device; permanent if they did not |
| Woodenwick candle | ₹949 | Candle | To be in the room | One large candle, jasmine or vanilla | Safe — the most physical presence under the ceiling |
| Attar roll-on 6ml | ₹669–₹699 | Personal fragrance | A daily decision about their skin | Measured in wearings | Only at close range — family and close friends |
| Jar candle two-pack | ₹664 | Candle · 80g × 2 | To be in the room | ~30–36 hours across the pair | Safe in every relationship — message-free |
| Taper candles, set of four | ₹569 | Decorative candle | Holders they must already own | An evening at a table | Safe, but a table gift rather than a fragrance one |
| Smoked Oudh / Sandalwood candle | ₹449 | Candle · single scent | To be in the room | ~15–18 hours | Best value in the catalogue — a grown-up register cheaply |
| 15ml Hotel Collection oil | ₹299 | Machine refill | An ultrasonic machine they may not own | — | Never a gift on its own. It is a refill |

Every honest gap, in one place
Nine sibling pages each name the gaps relevant to their argument. Here they all are together, because a buying guide that hides its catalogue's limits is not a guide. There is no reed diffuser below ₹749 and no ultrasonic machine below ₹899 — the defining constraint of this whole series, and the reason every under-₹500 page in it says so in the first hundred words. There is no SOSA gift card, so it cannot be used as a fallback when you do not know somebody's taste; the fallback is Evening Calm at ₹799, which is what a gift card is trying to be. There is no verified gift wrap, gift note or personalisation option, and nothing I can tell you about delivery timing. Free shipping above ₹499 is the only logistics fact stated anywhere in this series, and a single candle priced below that does not reach it on its own.
There is no gift hamper, gift box or curated reed gift set. The duos at ₹1,498–₹1,598 are two 50ml bottles, which is a good gift and not a hamper, and they sit above this ceiling in any case. There is no room spray or home spray — every SOSA spray is a car perfume, 12ml at ₹449–₹509. There is no oud, sandalwood, vetiver or amber reed diffuser, and no aquatic, marine, clean-linen or orange-blossom reed either; the five scents are the whole line. That is not the same as saying SOSA has no oud — the Smoked Oudh candle at ₹449 and the Nawaab attar at ₹699 are both real, and both are the right answer if that register is what you were after. There is no hotel-inspired reed diffuser: those scents are water-based and go only in an ultrasonic machine.
Two more. The 15ml Hotel Collection oil at ₹299 is a refill, not a gift — it is the cheapest thing on our price list, it is bought as a small present every year, and it is unusable without a machine the recipient probably does not own. If you want that register in somebody's home, the Boond at ₹899 arrives with three of those scents. And there is no verified corporate or bulk gifting programme — no bulk rate, no GST arrangement, no custom branding, no minimum order and no delivery window. If you are buying for an office, buy the products at the prices on this page and expect nothing else, because nothing else has been verified.
The decision table — and the gap
The whole family reduced to one table. Find the row that describes your situation, buy the item in it, and stop reading. The last row is the catalogue's limits restated, so that nothing on this page can be mistaken for a promise.
| Your situation | Buy | Why | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| You know almost nothing about them | Evening Calm 50ml ★ | 8.9, the softest we make; clears all four blind-buy criteria | ₹799 |
| Everyone says they are impossible to buy for | Mountain Breeze 50ml | Dry wood at 9.4 — the least sweet, least gendered register there is | ₹849 |
| They work from home, or you are buying for a kitchen | Morning Freshness 50ml | Bright citrus-mint at 9.0; citrus complements cooking rather than fighting it | ₹749 |
| It is a colleague, a boss or an in-law | Jar candle two-pack | Message-free, modest, impersonal, fine to open in front of everyone | ₹664 |
| They already own reed diffusers | Boond ultrasonic diffuser | A device rather than a duplicate; three 15ml scents included | ₹899 |
| You know they love flowers | Garden Bloom 50ml | Our most-gifted floral; the one guests ask about in an entryway | ₹799 |
| They take coffee seriously | Fresh Brew 50ml | Real Coorg coffee at 9.5 — the deepest thing we make, and only for them | ₹849 |
| Close family, and they wear fragrance | Attar roll-on 6ml | Personal fragrance — Adaa, Ameeri, Mastani or Nawaab; never for a colleague | ₹669–₹699 |
| Your real budget is ₹500 | Smoked Oudh or Sandalwood candle | Best value we make. No reed exists at this price, and I will not pretend otherwise | ₹449 |
| What does not exist | — | No reed under ₹749 · no machine under ₹899 · no gift card · no verified wrap, note or personalisation · no hamper or curated set · no room spray, only car perfume · no oud, sandalwood, vetiver or amber reed · no hotel-inspired reed · no verified corporate or bulk programme | — |
Versailles
I wrote this series because of the same email arriving over and over, in slightly different words: I have about a thousand rupees, somebody's housewarming on Sunday, and no idea what to buy. That reader does not need a scent education. They need somebody to solve the category first and the product second, and to be honest enough while doing it that the recommendation at the end is worth taking.
The honesty part costs us sales and I have decided I do not mind. There is no SOSA reed diffuser under ₹749, and I will not let a page imply there is, because the reader would find out at the product page and would be right to be annoyed. There is no gift card, so I cannot offer you the easy way out of not knowing somebody's taste. There is no hamper. There is no room spray. The ₹299 oil that looks like a bargain is a refill for a machine. Every one of those sentences is a small commercial loss and a large amount of trust, and I would make the same trade again.
What is genuinely here is worth the ceiling. At ₹749 to ₹849 you get 50ml of composed oil on a heat-stable carrier, a refillable glass bottle and six fibre reeds, and it works for six to eight weeks with nothing asked of the person who received it. Then it finishes, and their house is their own again, and if they liked it they will buy the next one themselves. That is what I would want as a giver and what I would want as a recipient, and it is the whole argument of this guide. Everything is made in Pune, and a part of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.
