Both of them cover a clinic this size, which is exactly why the question is harder than it looks. Once coverage stops separating two products, the decision rests on a single feature, and it is one most clinics do not actually need.
Quick answers — read this first
Reed diffuser or scent machine at 500 sq ft? A reed, unless you can name a specific reason to want an off switch. Take the treatment rooms out and a 500 sq ft clinic usually has 300 to 350 sq ft of patient-facing air, which at a 3.05 m ceiling is around 91 cubic metres. A 50ml reed holds that, and the Sukoon at ₹1,899 is quoted at 270-320 sq ft, so it holds it too. Neither covers the room better. One of them can be switched off in seconds.
What counts as a real reason to want the switch? Four of them, and they are all specific rather than general. A member of staff who needs the source stopped at a particular time of day. Hours you must not run outside, such as a shared building with rules about the evening. A cleaning window where the room needs to air with nothing running. Or a documented habit of the level creeping upward because whoever opens the clinic adds a reed. If one of those is true, ₹1,899 buys a timer and a switch. If not, you are paying for an unused feature.
What does the ultrasonic actually cost me beyond the price? Water and a routine. The Sukoon is an ultrasonic machine, so it aerosolises water and puts a little humidity into the room while it runs. In Pune, Mumbai, Chennai or anywhere else that spends months above 70 per cent relative humidity, that is a real consideration rather than a footnote, particularly in a clinic full of upholstery and vinyl. It also needs its tank emptied and wiped on a schedule somebody has to own, and the fragrance has to be the water-based Hotel Collection.
The short answer
Short answer: Both work at this size, so control decides it rather than coverage. A 500 sq ft clinic is about 142 cubic metres in total and roughly 91 once the treatment rooms come out, which a reed diffuser at ₹749 holds and a Sukoon at ₹1,899 also holds. Buy the machine only if you can name a reason to need an off switch, and remember the ultrasonic adds humidity and a tank routine.
The pick: one 50ml Morning Freshness at ₹749 by default, or the SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 where a named reason for scheduling exists.
Next step: list the rooms clients sit in, the ceiling height and whether anybody has asked for a switch, and we will tell you which of the two your clinic actually needs - ask for a clinic scenting plan.
For a 500 sq ft chiropractic clinic, is a reed diffuser or a scent machine the right buy?
A reed, unless you can name the reason you want a switch - and the interesting part of this question is why coverage has stopped being the deciding factor. Do the volume first, because you scent air rather than floor: floor area in square feet × ceiling height in metres × 0.0929. Five hundred square feet at a 3.05 metre ceiling is 500 × 3.05 × 0.0929, or about 142 cubic metres in total. Then take out the rooms that are never scented. A 500 sq ft chiropractic practice typically runs two cabins at around 90 sq ft each plus a store and a washroom, which leaves 300 to 350 sq ft of reception, waiting area and corridor. Call it 320, and the scented volume is 320 × 3.05 × 0.0929, or roughly 91 cubic metres. Now put the two candidates against that figure. A 50ml reed diffuser at ₹749 holds a steady low level in a volume that size without difficulty. The SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 is quoted at 270-320 sq ft, which is the same room almost exactly. Neither reaches further than the other in a space this shape, and no setting on the Sukoon makes it cover more floor than a bottle does here. That is unusual, and it is what makes 500 sq ft the specific size worth writing about: it is the last point on the ladder where the two formats genuinely tie. So the comparison collapses to one feature. A reed is continuous and cannot be stopped quickly, and in a clinic that matters, because if a client says the fragrance is too much the correct answer is to stop the source immediately rather than explain it. A machine has run windows, an intensity setting and a switch your receptionist can reach. Buy that if, and only if, you can name the person or the hour that needs it. And be clear about what the machine costs beyond ₹1,899: the Sukoon is ultrasonic, so it aerosolises water and adds a little humidity, needs its tank emptied and wiped on somebody's rota, and takes the water-based Hotel Collection rather than reed oil. In a humid city those are real costs and not footnotes. Fragrance here is an ambience decision like lighting, seating or flooring, it sits alongside your ventilation and cleaning rather than replacing them, SOSA products are not medical devices, we make no claim that scenting affects bookings, retention or spend, adjustment and treatment rooms stay unscented, and the clinician's judgement overrides any scenting plan.
About 142 cubic metres in the clinic and roughly 91 in the scented zone, which both formats hold. The reed at ₹749 by default; the Sukoon at ₹1,899 only where a named person or hour needs the switch.
Default to one 50ml Morning Freshness at ₹749. Step to the SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 only when you can write down whose problem the switch is solving.
Neither of these is the answer at 500 sq ft, and they are here for two reasons: so you can see the rung above ₹1,899, and so you can see what waterless operation costs when you eventually want it. The product pages carry the cubic-metre figures to check against your own.
Waterless cold-air nebuliser at ₹11,999, rated to 1000m³ or about 2,000-3,000 sq ft. Adds no water and needs no tank cycle, which is its quiet advantage over any ultrasonic. Against 91 cubic metres it is roughly seven times the room.
HVAC nebulising diffuser at ₹25,999, rated to 3,000m³ or about 8,000-10,000 sq ft, with an 800ml reservoir and programmable schedules. A single-site chiropractic practice of any normal size will not reach it, and I would rather say that than imply otherwise.
₹11,999, 1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft), waterless nebulisation of undiluted oil with no water and no heat, 400ml tank lasting 90+ days, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, key-lock, under 38dB, 5W. CE, RoHS and SGS are electrical and compliance marks, not medical approval. Made in India.
When two products cover the same room, three things are left to argue about. Two of them favour the machine and one of them favours the bottle, and which way you land depends on facts about your clinic rather than facts about the products.

Tiebreak one
Who has to be able to stop it, and how fast
Fragrance sensitivity is real, is never negotiated with, and the correct response to a client who objects is to stop the source and apologise once. With a machine that is a button behind the desk. With a bottle it is picking up the glass, carrying it out and shutting it in a cupboard, and in 91 cubic metres the room settles within a few minutes. That is a workaround rather than a control. Whether it is good enough is a question about your reception, not about the product: if the bottle sits on a shelf your receptionist can reach without leaving the desk, it is usually fine. If it is on a console across the room behind two waiting clients, it is not, and the switch is worth the difference.
Tip: Whichever you choose, agree in advance who stops it and where the bottle or the plug goes. A protocol nobody has agreed is not a protocol.
Real control - timed windows, an intensity setting and a key-lock so nobody quietly raises it - is what the Vaayu sells at a much larger size. The Sukoon buys a simpler version of the same idea.
Every ultrasonic diffuser in the range works by aerosolising water, so all of them put a little humidity into the room while they run. The Boond at ₹899, the Sukoon at ₹1,899 and the Megh at ₹3,499 all do it, and the six litres in the Megh are a runtime and humidity specification covering only about 215 sq ft, which is not a coverage claim of any kind. In a dry month none of this registers. In a coastal or monsoon city, in a clinic with upholstered treatment tables and equipment on open shelves, it is a fair thing to weigh. There is also a tank to empty and wipe on a rota somebody owns, and a machine whose tank nobody has owned for three weeks is worse than a bottle nobody has to think about.
Waterless nebulisation of undiluted oil is exactly what the Vaayu does, and it is the honest reason to prefer it later - not coverage, and not fragrance.
This one is quiet and it favours the machine. A reed's level moves. It rises for the first fortnight as the reeds saturate, sits steady through the middle of the bottle, and falls off toward the end, and somebody helpful compensates by flipping more often or adding a reed. Twelve months later the clinic is running at a level nobody chose. A machine holds a number until somebody changes it, and a key-locked one holds it even then. Against that, a reed's drift is slow, visible and free to correct: count the reeds on the first Monday of the month and write the number down. If your practice will actually do that, the drift argument disappears. If it will not, it is the strongest case on this page for spending ₹1,899.
Tip: Write the reed count and the flip day on a label stuck to the underside of the shelf. It survives staff changes better than a conversation does.
A key-lock is the specific answer to a level that creeps. The Vaayu has one, which matters far more in a clinic with several people opening up than in a solo practice.
Once two products cover the same volume, the cheaper one is not the compromise - the dearer one is simply a different product with a feature attached, and features you do not use are the most expensive thing in any specification.
At 500 sq ft the feature is a switch. Name the person who needs it or do not buy it.
The rung above this decision: 1000 cubic metres rated, waterless, key-locked and mountable. Correct at three times this clinic's scented volume, and wrong today.
Answer these out loud, in order. One yes anywhere in the four is enough to justify the machine; four noes and you should buy the bottle and stop reading.
The SOSA plan
Four yes-or-no questions for a 500 sq ft practice
The question to ask out loud
What a yes means, and what a no means
Can whoever is at the desk stop the source without leaving it?
A no points at the machine. A bottle across the room is a slow off switch, and the sensitivity rule asks for a fast one. Moving the shelf is the free version of the same fix. View →
Are there hours the clinic must not be running anything?
A yes points at the machine. Shared-building rules, a cleaning window that needs the room aired with nothing running, or a member of staff who works late are all real scheduling requirements a bottle cannot meet.
Does the level in your clinic drift over a year?
A yes points at the machine, or at a monthly habit of counting reeds and writing the number down. Either fixes it. Only one of them costs ₹1,899.
Is your clinic humid for months at a time?
A yes points back at the bottle. An ultrasonic aerosolises water, so it adds a little humidity to a room that already has plenty, and a reed adds none - though a reed does not reduce humidity either, and SOSA sells no dehumidifier.
The waterless difference, stated plainly: no tank to empty, no humidity added and no mineral film left on upholstery or equipment. It is the reason to move off an ultrasonic, and it costs ₹11,999.
When two products cover the same room, price is no longer the comparison. You are choosing between a bottle that never stops and a machine that can, and only your clinic knows whether that matters.

Where the ladder goes after ₹1,899
Waterless, mounted and scheduled - the tier a 500 sq ft clinic has not reached
Both machines here are above a 500 sq ft clinic and are listed so the next step is visible rather than mysterious. One source per connected volume of air. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The SOSA size ladder
Neither of these belongs in a 500 sq ft practice today
At 500 sq ft the answer is the reed at ₹749-₹849 or the Sukoon at ₹1,899, and which one is decided by the four questions above rather than by budget. The Sukoon ships with three 15ml scents and takes the water-based Hotel Collection, from ₹299 for 15ml. Fragrance is an ambience decision like lighting or seating, with no health, therapeutic or clinical claim of any kind. It works alongside your ventilation, cleaning and clinical protocol, never instead of them, and SOSA products are not medical devices. Adjustment and treatment rooms stay unscented, staff must be able to stop the source within seconds, and the clinician's judgement overrides any plan. Ask for a clinic scenting plan and we will settle it on your floor plan.

A note from Sonal
Five hundred square feet is the one size where I genuinely cannot answer this question from the number alone, and I think that is worth admitting on a page whose job is to answer it. Below it the bottle wins on arithmetic. Above it the machine wins on distribution. At 500 the scented zone is around ninety cubic metres and both formats sit on it comfortably, so I have to ask about your staff instead of your floor plan.
The question I ask is deliberately narrow: has anybody in the clinic ever wanted the fragrance stopped and been unable to stop it quickly? Not whether they might. Whether it has happened. An owner who says yes usually has a story attached, and the story is worth ₹1,899. An owner who pauses and says no has just told me to sell them a bottle, and I will.
The thing I try not to gloss over is the water. An ultrasonic is a small humidifier that happens to carry fragrance, and in a clinic with upholstered tables in a humid city that is a genuine consideration rather than a technicality. We make no health, therapeutic or clinical claim of any kind and no claim that scenting affects bookings, retention or spend. Fragrance is an ambience decision, like lighting or seating. Treatment rooms stay unscented, and the clinician's judgement overrides any plan. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Frequently asked questions
How much of a 500 sq ft clinic am I actually scenting?
Usually 300 to 350 sq ft. Two cabins at around 90 sq ft each, plus a store and a washroom, come off the top before you size anything, and what is left is reception, waiting and corridor. At a 3.05 m ceiling that is roughly 91 cubic metres, and that is the figure to hold against a product page rather than the 500 on your lease.
Does the Sukoon cover a 500 sq ft clinic?
It covers the part of it you are scenting. The Sukoon is quoted at 270-320 sq ft, which matches a typical patient-facing zone in a clinic this size almost exactly, and it is not intended to reach the cabins - which get nothing anyway. It does not cover 500 sq ft of connected open floor, and nothing at that price does.
Should I consider the six-litre Megh instead of the Sukoon here?
It is a different machine, not a wider reach. That six-litre tank buys runtime and humidity, and the quoted coverage is only about 215 sq ft, so nothing about it carries further than a Sukoon does. If your problem is refilling too often it is worth a look. If your problem is a room to fill, it is the wrong product at ₹3,499.
Can I run a reed and a machine together in a 500 sq ft clinic?
I would not. Two sources in one connected volume make two gradients rather than one even level, and you lose the ability to say what your clinic's level actually is. Pick one, set it, and write the setting down. If the room feels uneven, the fix is where the single source sits rather than a second one.
If I buy the Sukoon, what fragrance goes in it?
The water-based Hotel Collection, which is the ultrasonic line - 15ml at ₹299, 100ml at ₹999 and 300ml at ₹1,799, with refills in 100ml and 300ml. The machine ships with three 15ml scents. Reed oil does not go in an ultrasonic, and the two ranges share some scent names while being different products.
The far end of the ladder: the SOSA Angaan at ₹25,999 covers about 8,000-10,000 sq ft. It appears here only so you can see how much room there is above a 500 sq ft clinic.
SOSA — Clinic Scentingsettling reed against machine at 500 sq ft

Facts verified 24 August 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with a 400ml refillable tank lasting 90+ days depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and onboard button control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, operation under 38dB, DC 12V/1A at 5W (roughly 1.5 units of electricity a month on a ten-hour daily schedule), freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, auto-stop and key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS certification. Being waterless, it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on surfaces or equipment. The SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) is an HVAC nebulising diffuser rated to 3,000m³, roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft, with an 800ml reservoir, metal body, programmable schedules and operation under 42dB, and also runs standalone wall-mounted or lay-flat. Ambient scent is an interior and hospitality decision: it works alongside proper ventilation, cleaning and clinical protocol and is not a substitute for any of them, it is not a medical device, and SOSA makes no health, therapeutic or treatment claim of any kind and no claim that fragrance affects bookings, retention or spend. CE, RoHS and SGS are electrical and compliance marks, not medical approval.
