A central plant pushes conditioned air into the room through supply grilles and pulls it back out through return grilles, usually a few large ones near a plant room or a corridor. Everything that is in the air travels that way: away from the supply, across the floor, into the return and out. Fragrance is no exception. So the first rule is simple. Place the source where the supply will carry it across the sales floor, and as far from the return as the floor allows. A machine that sits under a return grille is scenting the duct, and a machine on a wall the supply blows straight past is scenting the far corner and nothing in between. The second rule is height. Five facts about a central plant, in the order they settle the placement. None of them is a fragrance question; all of them decide where the fragrance ends up.

Supply
The supply grilles are the distribution - use them
Every supply grille is a fan pointed at your floor for ten hours a day. Fragrance released into that stream goes where the stream goes, which on a well-designed floor is across the displays and towards the return. Fragrance released outside the stream sits where it was released. So the source lives on the supply side: high on a wall the grilles blow across, or, on a large floor, in the duct itself through the Angaan. Walk the floor with the plant running and a strip of tissue on a stick - it sounds foolish and it is the single most useful ten minutes in this family - and you will see the direction the air actually takes, which is often not the direction the grilles appear to face. Put the Vaayu upstream of the displays you want the trace to reach.
Test: hold a tissue below each supply grille with the plant on. The way it leans is the way your fragrance will travel.

Return
The return grille removes - keep the machine away from it
The return is the drain. Air near it is on its way out of the room, and any fragrance in that air leaves with it and is either filtered or pushed back through the plant diluted across every zone the plant serves. A machine within a few metres of a return is feeding the drain directly, and the owner's experience is that the floor smells of nothing while the tank empties on schedule. The fix is never more output; it is distance. Put the return on the plan first, then rule out every wall within reach of it. If the only free wall on the supply side is also near the return, the desk zone is the wrong candidate and the far display wall is the right one, even if it needs a longer cable run. Why the fragrance disappears when the AC is running is this paragraph told as a diagnosis.
Rule: if the tissue leans towards the grille, that grille is a return. Nothing scented goes near it.

The duct
An HVAC mount only on a duct serving the sales floor alone
A duct mount is the cleanest distribution there is, which is exactly why it has to be confined. Fragrance in a duct arrives at every grille that duct feeds. If the same run feeds the live kitchen, the coffee-tasting counter, a home-theatre room or the staff office, then the demonstration zones are being scented from behind the ceiling and there is no timer setting that fixes it. So the condition is absolute: a duct mount only on a duct that serves the sales floor and nothing else. Who knows which duct does what? Not us. Whoever maintains your plant - the contractor or the in-house engineer - confirms the run, the access point and whether the mount is acceptable to them. SOSA gives no engineering advice and makes no claim about your plant. Where that confirmation cannot be had, a high wall mount on the supply side is the honest alternative and, on most floors under 3,000 sq ft, the better one.

Height
High on the wall, into the stream, not at the desk
Cold-air nebulised fragrance is dry and light and it goes with whatever air is moving. Released at desk height beside a socket it pools around the person at the desk, who is the advisor who breathes it for nine hours, and then drifts wherever the floor's eddies take it. Released high, it joins the supply stream above head height and comes down evenly across the floor as the air does. The Vaayu wall-mounts precisely for this; run the cable rather than moving the machine to the socket. Height also matters for partitions and display kitchens, which break air paths at floor level but not above the partition line - do partition walls affect fragrance distribution takes that on. One caution about levels: the setting is judged from the far point of the floor at five in the afternoon by the team, and once found it is locked. A high source at a low setting beats a desk source at any setting.
Rule: mount at the height of the supply grilles or above, on the supply side, and lock the level.

The demo zone
Off the scented air path, and the machine off during demonstrations
The AC will carry fragrance wherever its supply goes, and on many appliance floors the supply also feeds the live kitchen or the coffee counter. The demonstration owns that air while it runs: the smell of what is being cooked or brewed is the product. So the demo kitchen is marked on the plan first, the scented wall is chosen so that the supply does not carry a trace into it, and during a demonstration the Vaayu is switched off on the timer or the app while extraction runs. Afterwards, extraction and time clear the room - fragrance never covers cooking odour - and the machine returns only when the air smells of nothing. The plan I most often receive from a showroom with central air-conditioning has the machine drawn in beside the reception desk, because that is where the socket is, and a note saying the fragrance is too weak. It is not too weak. It is being released at desk height a few metres from a return grille, so the advisor at the desk gets all of it and the return gets the rest. I ask for the supply and return grilles to be marked, and nine times out of ten the right wall becomes obvious to the owner before I have said anything.
The question I am asked next is whether to put it in the duct instead, and I am careful here. A duct mount is the cleanest distribution there is, and the Angaan is built for it. But I cannot see from a plan which grilles a duct feeds, and if it feeds the live kitchen or the coffee counter then the demonstration is being scented from behind the ceiling. So the rule is fixed: a duct mount only on a duct that serves the sales floor alone, confirmed by whoever maintains your plant. I give no engineering advice, and a supplier who tells you which duct to open without having stood in your plant room is guessing.

Move the source high onto the supply wall, keep the level where the team stopped noticing it, and lock it.
Does central AC in an appliance showroom mean I need a second scent machine?
Usually the opposite.
