What that is per month: spread across the period it actually runs, that is a few hundred rupees a month, not ₹1,500. The honest answer is less recurring spend than your budget allows, and I would rather say so than find something to fill it.
The published daily figures for a 50ml at full six-reed projection: about ₹13 a day for Morning Freshness ₹749 or Garden Bloom ₹799, and about ₹15 a day for Evening Calm ₹799, Mountain Breeze ₹849 or Fresh Brew ₹849. Halve the reeds and you are meaningfully below that.
Before any of it: a flat shut all day exchanges almost no air, so background odours accumulate with nobody present to adapt to them. Ten minutes of open window on arrival does more than the third bottle would. Fragrance sits alongside an odour; it does not remove one.
The honest gap: three items in our own range look like the economical choice at this budget and are not — the ₹2,399 refill, the ₹299 15ml and the ₹3,499 Megh. All three are named below.
2. The empty hours should make you spend less, not more, and this is the counter-intuitive part. A flat locked from morning to evening has almost no air exchange, so fragrance released during the day is not swept out of a window — it disperses through the volume and is still there when you get in. The room is not fighting an airflow. That means a lower dose does the job: three reeds instead of six is a soft, present level and roughly doubles how long the bottle lasts. A home with the windows open all day would need more product than yours does, not less.
3. Ventilate on arrival, because that part is free and it is the largest single improvement available to you. Nobody has been in the flat all day, so nothing has been aired and nobody has adapted to what has accumulated — the kitchen, the bin, damp towels, the deposited fraction of last night's cooking re-releasing off the sofa. You walk in from outside with an un-adapted nose and meet all of it. Ten minutes of a window and a balcony door open clears the airborne fraction faster than any product can. The arithmetic, shown properly rather than asserted
Here are the only numbers we publish, and then what they mean for a monthly budget. A 50ml reed diffuser costs ₹749 to ₹849 and runs 6–8 weeks with all six reeds in. A 130ml costs ₹1,249 to ₹1,349 and runs 14–18 weeks. Expressed daily, the 50ml works out at about ₹13 a day for Morning Freshness or Garden Bloom and about ₹15 a day for Evening Calm, Mountain Breeze or Fresh Brew. Those are the figures we stand behind, and I am not going to dress them up with anything more precise, because longevity genuinely varies with heat, airflow and reed count and a decimal place would be a fabrication.
Now do the division. A ₹13-a-day bottle running continuously is a little under four hundred rupees across a month. A ₹15-a-day bottle is a little over four hundred and fifty. Two bottles running simultaneously at full projection therefore land somewhere around eight hundred rupees a month — and that is the expensive version, with six reeds in both bottles and no allowance for the empty hours. A 130ml is better again on a per-week basis: ₹1,249 to ₹1,349 spread across fourteen to eighteen weeks is a few hundred rupees a month, and it is the size a living room above 150 sq ft needs anyway.
Then apply the two adjustments your particular flat allows. Three reeds instead of six roughly halves the rate of release and roughly doubles the bottle's life, which is the correct setting for a bedroom and often for a living room in a flat nobody occupies until evening. And a locked flat's low air exchange means less product is required to reach a given level than in an airy home. Morning Freshness₹749A ₹749 bottle that runs six to eight weeks is a completely different purchase from a ₹749 object, and stating the daily figure is fairer to the reader than stating the price. But the same honesty runs the other way: a household that has budgeted ₹1,500 a month has budgeted for something that does not exist at this scale. There is no monthly product here. Evening Calm₹799The instinct in a flat that smells closed at seven is to buy more fragrance, and it is exactly backwards. Mountain Breeze₹849A 750 sq ft 2BHK has six or seven distinct spaces and it is genuinely tempting to solve all of them, particularly with a budget already set aside. The problem is not only the money. A flat where every room carries the same fragrance stops registering as fragrant within about a week, because your nose adapts to a constant, unchanging stimulus and stops reporting it. Two rooms, two registers, and the passage left alone gives a better result than four bottles. The rooms you pass through do not need scenting; the rooms you sit in do.
Which rooms in a 750 sq ft 2BHK, and in what size
Sizing is the third decision, after occupancy and air exchange, and it is mechanical. A 50ml suits rooms up to about 150 sq ft; a 130ml suits above that. In a 750 sq ft flat the living and dining end is usually the only space above that line, which makes it the one 130ml purchase and everything else a 50ml at most. If a 50ml has ever read as weak to you in a large room, that is the room and not the bottle — it was performing exactly to specification in a volume it was never built for, and the answer is the bigger size rather than a stronger scent.
The bedroom is the second purchase and it should be the softest thing you can find, at three reeds. The three false economies, all of them ours
Every one of the traps at this budget is something we sell, which is why I would rather name them here than have you find out later. The first is the 300ml refill at ₹2,399. Per millilitre it is unarguably the best value in the reed line, which is exactly why it gets bought by people who do not yet own a bottle. It is oil alone — no glass, no reeds — so as a first purchase it is not a saving, it is an incomplete product. It is the item on our own shelf most often bought by mistake. Once you own the bottle and reeds it becomes genuinely economical, and that is the moment to consider it.
The second is the ₹299 Hotel Collection 15ml. It is the cheapest thing with SOSA on it that looks like home fragrance, and it is not an entry point at all: it is a water-based refill for an ultrasonic machine and does nothing whatsoever without the hardware. Reed oil cannot go into a machine and Hotel Collection oil cannot go into reeds — they are different physical systems, and there is no hotel-inspired reed diffuser. The cheapest genuine entry to the reed line is Morning Freshness at ₹749.
The third is the Megh at ₹3,499, and it is the one our own range makes easiest to misread. Six-litre tank, around a hundred hours of runtime — and about 215 sq ft of coverage, which is less than the Sukoon at ₹1,899 with its 270–320. It is a runtime and humidity machine. If you are buying for coverage in a 750 sq ft flat, it is the wrong purchase at nearly twice the price of the right one, and we would rather say so than let the bigger number do the selling. Somebody arriving with ₹1,500 a month set aside is doing me a favour and I should not take advantage of it. The honest total for a 750 sq ft flat is two bottles, roughly ₹2,000, running for most of a season — well under half of what has been budgeted. I could find things to fill the rest. A third reed for the passage, a candle, a refill bought too early. None of them would make the flat smell better and one of them would make it smell worse.
